Axes, Ales, Lagers, and Bears, Oh My... Who would have thought that drinking beer and throwing axes go together? Not this guy. I was curious to check things out though. Perhaps the creative, comedian, actor, Mike Myers was onto something in 1993 with the film "So I Married an Axe Murderer." Don't know the name Mike Myers? He is also the actor and creator of Austin Powers. Speaking of setting the mood, "Baby." The Mighty Axe is a great, low-key vibe with an outdoor, gas fire pit in the front, making you feel at home. Or someone else's house, hanging out in the backyard. You'll never have to wait long for a fresh pint of beer, as the bar is never excessively crowded. You won't break the bank either, prices are reasonable, and service is friendly. It has small-town, blue-collar, vibes, that mike you feel welcomed. We saw the staffing running in and out of the place, picking up food for patrons that were having fun in the Axe throwing area / lanes. These guys really hustle to make sure you're having a good time, well hydrated, and nourished. In the far back of the place is also a section of video games, for those not confident in their abilities to juggle blades and brews. While we didn't participate in any Axe throwing, it was nice to hang out in the front, next to the fire pit and enjoy a few cold brews. The selection of local beverages from Seaward Brewing and with names like Ventura HIghWey make it fun to order and support local businesses. It's a win-win-win situation at the Mighty Axe.

Ryan was the absolute best. I stopped by with my amiga just to grab a kombucha. Service is quick . You can order food from Pizza Man Dan's or Luna Grill and they'll walk it over to you ! Good crowd ! Real fireplace and also electric fireplace for the cool vibes. Too much of a scaredy cat to try the axe throwing . Too much Final Destination movie PTSD for me ;/ They also have happy hour!!!

Haley was so great from the introduction to safety rules and how to play the game ... what a great place, Ryan was very cool and provided the drinks. I'm happy they had a Heineken 0.0 to drink also .. Great fun , we really enjoyed it. First time here and we will be back .

My first time axe throwing and I'm addicted ! Wanted to try something new with my teen girls and even brought along the baby in the stroller. Reservations online were pretty simple. Parking was a challenge due to the mail area being packed. Make sure you plan to come early. I loved that the axe company has an axe coach that takes the time to teach you how to throw. Four of us played for one hour and we were able to play two games at a rate of two throws per each turn. Next time I would throw for two hours instead. There is no food but beer and hard kombucha etc with lots of variety.

Such a fun place to hang out and let loose! There's a bar in front from which you don't necessarily have to play. You can chill in front of the bar and patio area. If you decide to play, you'll pay and sign a waiver. Kids definitely can hang out back too no matter their age, however, must be 10 years old in order to play. They have multiple games to pick from. As this was our first time, we were just trying to get the hang of it. Prior to beginning your game, there's axe master's (can't remember the term) but they help you out and guide you. Super helpful! Games are by the hour and per person at $35

We were trying to beat the heat and walked in and staff were super friendly. We paid and set up in no time (and forgot her name) and the AXEpert was ready to help us because it was all of our first time. She helped each one of us with technique and proper stance including safety precaution. We all had a great time and will be coming back again :) read more

Went on a Monday night, not too busy but my friend and I had a fun time! Ray was the one who checked us in and guided us how to throw the axe. It was my 2nd time throwing axes , it need some practice but overall, the employees were really nice and the DJ! He played really great music. Do wish he was moved in the front instead of being in the back by the games. read more

First timer! I've always heard of axe throwing but have never had the time to get around it. Came with a group of friends and it was such a blast! Charlie was our instructor and he was very friendly from the moment we walked in. He was simple and waited for us to all at least get a hit before beginning which I thought was very kind. There is plenty of choices to put on the board as targets, you can even put a face of someone! Lol the pizza was very delicious and so were the mozzarella sticks! Drinks by Matt were also very good! Bathroom was very clean and all gender friendly. Most definitely recommend this place for friends, or even a first date! Nothing bad to say about this place and most definitely will be coming back! read more

Decided to do a last minute Axe Throwing event on a Friday night and was able to get a reservation no problem! JT & Grant were awesome in setting us up and telling us the safety rules for throwing. Landlords and management would rather let a massive, thriving entertainment space sit empty than work out a reasonable lease renewal for businesses that actually brought the community together.The Collection is turning into a corporate ghost town of empty storefronts and overpriced chains. What makes this even worse is that 69 hardworking local employees just lost their jobs all because of corporate bottom lines. Losing the only dedicated comedy club and live music hub in the area proves that local culture and employee livelihoods mean nothing to these property managers. It is a shame to see the city changing for the worst like this.

We work hard for us to not be able to enjoy one night without having to try to be guilt tripped for not providing a tip. Rent , food , and everything else is expensive already as is. I also deliver food as part of another side job and not even I have expectation of a tip. I let the waitress know that it's not mandatory to provide a tip especially with the lack of service we received.

What a fun addition to The Collection! I was fortunate enough to pop in today to check this place out and I just loved it! It's very vibey and seems like the perfect place to blow off some steam, hang with buddies and enjoy some locally sourced bevs and a good time. Never thought I'd enjoy throwing axes as much as I did but its my second time here and I brought some friends this time and they had a blast. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff ready to teach you how to trow. Great vibe overall, and I really enjoyed relaxing at the outside patio firepit after our set. Come alone or with friends. We were there a bit early so we needed to wait 15 or so minutes for it to open per the time listed here on Yelp. We hung out on the sidewalk counting the seconds until noon, only to be disappointed as we walked by and saw a sign in the door that said 1pm. We continued on our way and went to another local bar only to return hours later via car because I had had my exercise for the day. We got lucky in finding a parking spot because this is a small area, so cross your fingers. We found 2 seats at the bar and marvelled at the selection of microbrews. For a Saturday afternoon, the place slowly filled up with locals as everyone watched the basketball finals on the tvs. Bartender was very welcoming as were the locals we chatted with. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but did find something to drink. My partner was in heaven sampling and trying new brews. Would love to return later in the evening to see how this place fills up and to enjoy more of the locals and what it would be like living in this hidden community. So shhhh! Don't tell anyone about this gem.

My friend asked if she could put it in her car, and they said she wouldn't be allowed back in. I understand not allowing outside drinks, but there were no signs highlighting the rule, and threatening to ban someone for simply asking if she could put the drink away is too excessive. Pretty disappointing night and I'd suggest finding a different spot if you care about cleanliness and being treated respectfully.

I walk in the door and end up hugging like everyone before I even get my name on the pool table (they also have a really nice pool table. I've been playing for years now as a result.) The owners Big J and Dave are awesome... I'm kind of overflowing with compliments here but it's just... it's the best place. If I had to choose what I was going to do with my night, my day, whatever, just getting out, it would be The Garage. Absolutely awesome.
