I love the Ventura BevMo! The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. What I'm looking for is always easy to find, and if I need help, the employees help me quickly! Recently an employee suggested a new cocktail to me: a limoncello spritz! The ingredients were reasonably priced. It was very delicious. Their beer selection used to be better, but they still have a good selection of international beers, including Hoegaarden one of my all time favorites! They also carry Tsing Tao, Asahi, and Hofbrau Original. Their location has always been clean and organized and their prices are reasonable. I wish their beer selection would be extended to include more variety, but overall it's a great spot to pick some brewskis! read more

Not impressed. First time here. And my last. Saw total of 3 employees. One at register ringing up customers. 2nd employee was guy behind the cigar counter. I only saw him on the phone while the line to check out was at least 4 customers deep. He did nothing to help customers. 3rd was a young blonde trying to count money in her register. She was nice enough, tried to help me, but said she had to count her register and would get the cigar guy to help me with my questions. Yeah. That never happened. Called back at 10:30, (after close-good for them) and was told it wasn't picked up. That was it. Can't cancel on the website. I still get their emails with coupons on both liquor and wine. Their $.05 wine sales are to die for and I miss them dearly. Living in Humboldt County for 8 years spoiled me on quality Ales. I'm delighted to find that this new BevMo in Ventura carries a few of my old favorites from behind the Redwood Curtain, as well as some Bay Area & Oregon faves, and a few interesting imports. The prices are about average, but it's just so nice to see brews from Mad River, Lagunitas, and Lost Coast without having to drive 6-12 hours. I agree with Jeff H. that they could do a lot better. I briefly perused their selection of spirits and it appears they have a fine selection of liquor, including lots of stuff you don't see at Ralph's or the other corporate supermarkets. I checked prices on a few select faves and they were quite competitive. I remember when they were first considering this location, and community members spoke out against BevMo, citing its proximity to schools as a concern for increased crime. She called her manger to talk to me about me buying a soda that doesn't have any alcohol. She said "you are not allow to even come into the store if you are not 21. I came in here looking to buy a small bottle of a liquor I had purchased at another store. When I was unable to find it (the selection of small bottles here is not great) an employee came over to help me and when I explained what I wanted she very expertly gave me her recommendations and I left with a full size bottle that I'm very happy with. I was very pleased with the help, the products available (though as I said they could use more variety in the little bottles) and the overall convenience of the store. It's located in the back of the Pacific View mall and there's plenty of parking. The store is clean and well lit and the aisles are wide. Jen is knowledgeable about every aspect of goods and employees residing in the store and intelligent about average customer feelings towards specific liquors sold in the store. Jen is always moving. When sale items may be out of stock, Jen is willing to order the items for you at the sale price and call you when they arrive at their store. Jen even does this over the phone. Jen has been able to make combine BevMo storewide sale prices with BevMo member benefit deals, making some liquors half the cost! So, Jen has made my experience at BevMo the best at store 131. Ordered an alcoholic beverage online for a friend and upon delivery, the recipient was not home. After calling to follow up, it was clear this had never happened before. The third-party, Door Dash, delivered the product and the driver never returned the bottle. In the end, I as the customer had to re-order the product, contact the third party to ultimately get the product re-delivered. Btw I tipped the driver and did not get refunded. I appreciate the help of the BevMo staff but there wasn't much they could do seeing as it was a third party. Just a recommendation: Third-party companies are a direct reflection of the business. Choose wisely and please handle issues internal to the business without asking the customer to handle it. read more

The employee that answered the phone said they had gotten them in earlier that week and she just assumed they still had them in stock so she didn't bother to check when I called. Went online and ordered some liqueurs as gifts and I used the drive up so I could run over there and not have to stand in line to pay. I got there and logged on the website to say I was there the waited and waited. After 25 minutes I decided to go in to find out what was going on. There was one cashier, one person shooting the breeze and one guy stocking shelves. I got his attention and said I have been waiting in my car for over 20 minutes! He checked and said he was sorry and found my order and handed it to me. So the bottom line is don't bother with the drive up and pick up because in the amount of time it took to get my stuff I could have gone in, picked my items and paid in less time. Next time if I order online I will go into the store to pick up otherwise I could sit there forever. And this was at 11:00 am in the morning on Friday. I can't imagine how long you would sit there if it was a weekend or late afternoon! Not a good experience for my first time in that store. read more

BevMo is great place to find one of the widest selections of wine in the entire county. Their $.05 wine sales can be quite entertaining by watching people fill entire boxes (no joke) with a bunch of wines they otherwise may not have paid as much to try. It can get kind of crazed in there during those sales, though. Their beer selection is the main reason I go in. It is one of the few places you can still find a good stout that's not Guinness- though everyday is a lovely day for a Guinness (don't sue me for using that!) The layout of this store is like others in the area- a long hallway. This is good for accommodating a large number of people in the store, but it kind of ties things up for people browsing the shelves. Oh well- a necessary hazard, I suppose. I will definitely be back to this store when I am in Ventura. read more

We ordered a keg of Firestone on a Tuesday morning for an event we were hosting on that Saturday. The order was handwritten on a sheet of paper and we were not given a copy; just told we could pick it up on Saturday after opening. When my husband got there on Saturday morning he was told by the manager that they didn't have the Firestone we had ordered available. Fortunately, an employee overheard and corrected him; they did have what we ordered. However, they did not have the ice tub that the keg sets in, which we had understood was included in the order. The manager's "oh well" attitude was disappointing and even when my husband asked if they'd throw in a free bag of ice to compensate his reply was, "No, we don't do that." We spent almost $200 for this keg of beer. It's the last time we will order one from BevMo. read more
