    Oils and vinegars
    Pam M.

I am completely in love with their concept of refilling cooking oils & vinegars containers. I decided to try the garlic extra virgin oil and the aroma from it was delicious! I purchased the standard size and the stopper. The price was about $24 ish dollars. When you return for a refill, if you take your bottle it's a 20% discount. You truly can't beat that! Being able to support a local business, save the planet from more waste but get delicious oils to cook it a go for me. Will be coming back for sure and with my container. Did also try their lacquer, delicious!! The cafe machiatto was really good, as well as the piña colada. really tasty and yummy. Check them out.

George, who is always incredibly kind to my two kids. (and has turned them into olive oil snobs LOL)

There are so many wonderful places to visit in downtown Ventura, but I have only taken the time to review a select few that stand out above the rest! Of them, our favorite is Vom Fass - not just because of the amazing selection of flavorful drinks and oils, which are always fun to sample, but because of George! He can go months or years without seeing my kids, but as soon as they pop their heads in the door, he makes hem feel like the only people in the world. He teaches them about oils and gives samples liberally to help them discover their taste preferences. And because of him, both kids can easily tell you theirs. Imagine getting a 3 and 7 year old to be passionate about olive oil. Thank you for your kindness to our kids, George. Time and time again you've made them feel special. As an aside: The pink grapefruit liquer is worth the trip! Grab a free sample :)

What a find! We've walked by them before, not realizing what we were missing. The shop is a combo of tasting / purchasing options for olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and whiskey. The latter is segregated off with signs indicating 21 and up only. Walls lined with crocks of the liquids are featured. One of the associates assisted us by pouring tiny spoon samples of oils and vinegars. Once we decided what we wanted to buy, we had the choice of different containers. You do have to buy the bottles. They come in a variety of styles and price points. A Yelp check-in provided $5 off a $30 purchase. Nice! We selected one Bear's Garlic olive oil as a gift, plus cherry, and calamansi flavors of balsamic for our own kitchen. The staff member who took care of us did a nice job, including wrapping the purchases. It's a tasty stop on Main Street!

Love the premixed old fashioned for when you're on the go. Great variety of balsamics, spice and soup mix too. Great customer service and they offer a frequent shopper stamp card.

George and everyone that works here is extremely helpful and friendly. Always a great visit and shopping experience. If you like great tasting things this is a must stop place. They always have great recipe ideas as well, you will learn a lot about oils, vinegar and spirits. Enjoy

Very friendly service and high quality products. I would go more often if it were faster and easier to access downtown Ventura businesses.

Our waitress wasn't rude, but she wasn't particularly friendly or attentive throughout the meal. Unfortunately, one of the salads we ordered had a hair in it, which my sister noticed immediately. She informed the food runner, and the kitchen prepared a replacement. However, our waitress never checked in on us or acknowledged the issue, and she didn't even seem to know what had happened until we brought it to her attention. Her response was not particularly apologetic, and no one offered to take anything off the bill. Having dined out frequently, I've encountered similar situations before, and the response has typically been a sincere apology and some form of compensation, whether that's removing the affected item or offering a discount. Instead, we were essentially told, "Well, she got another one, right?" My sister also had to wait until the rest of us had finished eating before she could enjoy her replacement salad. We eventually went to the front to speak with a manager or someone else about the situation. Unfortunately, that interaction was also disappointing. The woman we spoke with was dismissive and stated, "We don't do that here," emphasizing that it was a matter of principle. We had to push back to get the salad removed from the bill, and even then, the conversation involved unnecessary harsh commentary. Overall, the customer service was disappointing. Mistakes can happen, but the lack of acknowledgment, genuine apology, and willingness to resolve the situation professionally made the experience frustrating. We left feeling that our concerns were not taken seriously, and I would have expected a much more considerate response.

You can tell there's real care behind what they do. Everything feels intentional, from the quality of the meat to the fact that they practice whole-animal butchery and source locally through Hobson Family Farms. Love supporting businesses that are actually rooted in the community instead of just slapping "local" on a label. Also obsessed that they make everything in-house... jerky, sausages, beef sticks, bone broth powder, seasonings, even beef tallow. They also carry artisan bread, fresh produce, and organic milk, so somehow I walked in for meat and left feeling like a pioneer woman lol. The space itself feels warm, welcoming, and very Ventura in the best way. Clean, rustic, community-oriented... the kind of place where you can tell the regulars genuinely love coming in. It has that old-school neighborhood butcher shop energy but without feeling intimidating or pretentious. The staff was super welcoming and patient answering questions without making anyone feel intimidated. Whether you know your cuts of meat or you're just there because someone told you "trust me," they make the experience approachable. Honestly feels like one of Ventura's hidden gems. Having been…read moreexperiencing health issues for a bit now, I was optimistic to try a more holistic approach and see what their services are all about. Full transparency there is a pretty significant waitlist to see Sara and I did have to wait a few months to get an individual consult with her. If you're looking for a consult and one on one, this is the best service/way to do it - just know to be patient. I signed up online with an appointment date a few months out and I did notice that when there were cancelations by other clients, I would get an email notifying me in case I wanted to get the open appointment. However, with them being so popular, by the time I'd check my emails and try to sign up for the earlier appointment they were always taken. I learned you just have to be really patient to get into here. I felt that the wait was worth it though. Sara was very knowledgeable, approachable and kind. She touched my feet and without me disclosing any of my healthcare issues she was able to relay back what she believed/could read to be some of my health issues/areas in my body that had inflammation etc. After she was through I did provide more context or validate some points she made but the initial consult / reading was all to her credit for figuring out what she could. It was a very interesting experience and enjoyable. From there Sara recommended products and I bought about 85% of them. The different vitamins and products do add up but they also seem to last about 2-3 months before I'll run out so not bad. I've been on the supplements for about a month so I'll need more time to come back here and to report what differences I see. For now I'm just getting in the swing of consistently taking the different items I purchased. Lastly, if you don't make an appointment or want an assessment, you can simply walk in and buy any products you'd like. That's definitely nice for people who already know what they are looking for or for established customers who may not need a reading/one on one with staff every-time they come. From supplements, to drinks and teas, they have it all. One item of theirs that I have been using that seems to be working well is their sore throat tea. So if you are prone to sore throats or preparing for flu season I'd definitely recommend a can of this tea. Ema's herbs is a cute place and for years I wandered right past it. Despite the signage, the little house style shop was unassuming and I had never realized what this spot was. Definitely a great local business and staff who really want to support you with your wellness and healing journey. Excited to come back in another month and grateful I was referred to them.
