Stopped in for a quick bite while my wife was shopping and I was so happy! Got the hearth bread with salted butter and was blown away. Insanely good and I already want more and will dream about it tonight. Piping hot sourdough bread out of the oven baked to a perfect crust that had nice crispy edges and super soft and chewy on the inside served with plenty of salted butter and although the price at $14 may scare you, it is all inclusive pricing and a nice serving that satisfied my wife (who returned just in time to savor the deliciousness) and I and our desire for a snack. We will definitely be back to try the other baked goods, flatbread and sandwiches. A little hard to find down an alley off a side street, but well worth the effort!

Super cute quaint restaurant, love the tile work and glass frog in the place and the frogs playing in the red-lit bathroom, even more. Sourdough pizza that leaves me feeling good afterwards. I've tried a few of their apps, salads and pizzas and everything has been delicious. They have special events every once in a while, which is a treat! Staff is always helpful and attentive and the owner is cool! Great addition to downtown VTA

This.is.my.jam! Ok hear me out, hidden alley entrance off Palm St. opens into a quaint courtyard/ outdoor eating area, keep walking to indoor space smelling like fresh bread... this is an experience. What's not to love? Long line goes quickly plus they have free bread samples while you wait. Food? Fresh, fluffy, full of flavor, very special and made with love. I love the savory Hoagie croissant ( ham/ cheese) and the pesto bread, focaccia and cookies. The bagels are amazing. Also fruit tarts! Highly recommend this delicious bakery/ restaurant. The pricing has tip included so it's a bit more, like European prices.

    Margarita pizza and another pizza

Amazing pizza and freshly baked bread. Could eat here every single day. The margarita pizza was the best.

This is my favorite restaurant in Ventura!! I've been a fan of Pinyon since they were doing pop-ups, before they even opened in Ojai and I was so happy to hear they'd be opening in Ventura. This is the perfect pizza to me - Neapolitan with a California twist, flavorful dough and perfect toppings. The rest of the food is also delicious, they do a great job highlighting the best, most seasonal ingredients. The service fee is now gone, for everyone who was worried about that. Is this the cheapest pizza in Ventura? No. But is it the best? Yes! Absolutely worth it.

This place is on point. The pizza is good, the appetizer was great, the place was clean, and the chef knows his stuff. I would happily eat here again. I wouldn't hear around six in the afternoon on a Saturday night and order two pizzas and a pimento pepper and cheese appetizer. It was good. It was all really good. The margarita was absolutely wonderfully classic. A good base, a nice red sauce, and good color on the cheese. Honestly, this is the way of margarita should taste. My only criticism is I prefer raw basil on my pizza, but it's kind of a preference thing. The rat ratatouille was an absolute explosion of flavor. The yellow tomato sauce on there was wonderful and the sweet drizzle of sauce that they placed on top absolutely made all of the veggies come together wonderfully. I think my favorite part was while there was a ton of vegetables on this pizza, the pizza did not feel heavy nor was it soggy. So great job chef! The last thing we ate was the pimento peppers and cheese. It was OK. For $16 it's just a piece of cheese that's been baked and a bunch of pimento peppers. Kind of disappointing, and I really think it should've been served with a crouton or something. We ended up using the crust from our pizza to eat the rest of this. Not something that I'd recommend or something I would order again. Another minor criticism is that the crust didn't taste like sourdough. I've been to their other location in Ojai and was greatly impressed by the quality of the crust, this place, not so much. It's still a great pizza, but for someone like me that was expecting a sourdough crust and can actually taste the difference, it just wasn't there. That could be because of fermentation issues, or they changed their recipe or any number of reasons. All I know is, I prefer the place in Ojai over this place because of the crust. All in all, this is a solid pizza place and I will gladly return with friends.

Pinyon was scrumptious! I had a pistachio pastry that was so flavorful and flaky I wanted to go back a buy a second one! The cider and berry scone was perfectly delicious. Purchased some day old bread that was not only delicious, but 2 for 1! I sliced 1 of the loaves and popped it into the freezer to pull off for toast later. Great seating outside in the twee courtyard on a beautiful morning can't be beat. Helpful service at the desk. I shall return another day to try out the pizza! This would be a nice spot for a coffee and pastries or pizza date!

Excellent matcha with pistachio milk, a fresh citrus blueberry scone that was delicious and a shop that supports anti-deportation efforts. Good coffee, good food, good values

Great find after a Saturday morning farmers market run during our visit from Las Vegas. It brought back memories of a Northern California spot from days gone by. The courtyard looked like a perfect place to linger, but we chose to sit inside and enjoy a provolone scone, an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese schmear, a buckwheat chocolate chip cookie, and a classic chocolate chip cookie. Friendly staff, a clean space, and fair prices. And the eats? Deeelish. That bagel was really something else--thick, dense, and incredibly tasty.

Bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel. Delicious!!

I only have great things to say about Pinyon. Their morning service is incredible with freshly baked sourdough bagels (the lox is my favorite) & an amazing selection of pastries. Everything is made in house and you can tell they put a lot of love into their food. Dinner is so great as well. Their pizza is also sourdough and cooked to perfection in their wood fire oven They always have great specials as well! I love coming here with a friend and taking a seat on their cute patio! Not to mention, they always seem to play great music The service is always so friendly and so helpful! This place is truly a hidden gem. Highly recommend stopping by for either breakfast lunch or dinner! You will not be disappointed. Thanks pinyon!

White walls, music, and the smell of genuinely great pizza in the air. Sadly, ordering that pizza feels like you're interrupting a very important staff meeting about not wanting to sell pizza. The vibe leans heavily toward uninviting. No fountain drinks, no water cups, just bottled beverages like you're at an airport kiosk. After you finally place your order, settle in. You're looking at a solid 45 minutes to an hour before your pizza makes its grand entrance. While we waited, a staff member walked up and slapped a "sold out" sign on the door. It was 5:45. They close at 9. We then watched the live theater of confused customers being turned away mid-evening. Bold strategy. Now, the pizza. Credit where it's due. The dough is legit. Sourdough crust that actually tastes like something, nicely baked, good sauce, and a thin, almost cracker-like profile. This is not your thick, floppy slice situation. It's crisp, light, and honestly pretty enjoyable. Is it perfect? No. Is it better than your average chain pizza? Absolutely. Just be prepared to feel slightly unwanted while acquiring it.

Meatless and mad…read more Topper's has been my go to pizza place ever since it opened in Ventura. 90% of the time I love the pizza but not tonight. I ordered a medium 1/2 cheese with extra red sauce and 1/2 Veggie, kinda a standard order. Tonight the cheese side was great as usual but the veggie had some type of unknown meat mixed in above the veggies. For many reasons, too many to list I have not eaten meat since 1975. I know the taste of good veggies and deplore the taste of any type of meat. Because there are so many veggies in the pizza I'd have inspect the pizza with a magnifying glass to make sure it's meatless, but should I have to? I took a bite of the veggie and tasted the meat hidden among the veggies and spit it out. No more veggie pizza for me. Come on topper's. Can't you give a loyal customer what they order? No meat means no meat. You Owen the Ventura County pizza market, you have a good product but BE CARFUL. I'm mid July Ventura gets a slice house pizza place.
