Took a trip up the Ventura River Trail to Ojai & stopped in for lunch... Hidden behind the market is one of the better finds in town. Pronominal serve the burgers are off the chart, food was delicious. Beer, Cider, Fireball shots... This place is a must if you are in town I promise. Cheers Mates

It's a little confusing inside. You can buy alcohol from the shop and take it home. You have to buy from the bartender in order to enjoy it inside. The menu is small & there's lots of fried & dairy options. I'm glad I opted for the fish tacos. I omitted cheese & sauce I asked for the avocado sauce that was on the vegan cauliflower tacos. The bartender was kind enough to bring it to me but told me it's usually a charge. (I get it everything has gone up. ) My fav part about this place is they have Apiary drinks. They are so light , crisp, and get u loose. I forgot which ones I purchased but they are sooo amazing!!!!!!

Had a great time eating the Famous Burger they got here, endless alcohol selections, informative and friendly staff, not a big menu, but you'd want that from small places like this that specialize in Tavern delights such as Burgers, Wings, and Brews. Good Wings here as well, if you're looking for a solid Burger, LOOK NO FURTHER!

Ahi before I found hair in middle! Happy Mother's day no compd beer nothing .

I came here Mother's Day excited to venture back here as an old favorite. I sat down within a 5 min period which was nice but the server was scrambling and took twenty minutes to bring a drink. Ahi tartare came recommended with a big black hair in the middle , the server apologized but said , " it looks like an eye lash and no it didn't it was curly. I said well its Not mine as Im no dark in color. They replaced it and I got a dry chicken sandwich . The beer was okay but generally food was mediocre and service was lacking.

Yes. Yes, yes ....., give me another throwing back burger , Rose wine , and fries. With Parmesan truffle . Please let me have a larger stomach to eat another burger. So delicious, big portion, big size , I share my burger and it was enough for 2 . I order a ojai rose, and sparkling wine rose . Great selection of wines.

Wow, Beyond impressed with this place. This is a local tap house/ liquor store with really good food. I was beyond shocked with everything, especially the coleslaw. Get the coleslaw! Everything else 5/5! Our waitress was super friendly and recommended certain dishes. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area.

This place was a cute little stopover on a road trip from Northern California. We chose it because they had grass fed beef burgers. As a Type 1 diabetic, it's hard to eat burgers because I can't usually find the carb count on the buns and depending on how the rest of my day has gone, I may not be able to take a chance on guessing the carbs so I can dose my insulin. That was the case here - there was no nutrition label on the burger buns, but the waitress kindly suggested that they make a great lettuce wrap burger, which I loved. She even had them put the sauce on the side for me because it had a wine reduction, which has natural sugars in it. We loved our waitress - she was so sweet and kind! The atmosphere here is all locals, and it was really lovely to witness the sense of community, which I don't see very often. One thing I didn't like is that the main dining room is super loud, but the back room was open thankfully so we could sit there, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to stay due to the noise.

I really like the food here. Beers were great the service by Rebecca R was just ok. We tried the Tri Tip Panini, it was pretty good. The Ribeye Melt was yummy, the truffle Fries were amazing. I like the ranch dressing here. Place is cute with western vibes.

We have dined all around Ventura County and still seem to keep coming back to OBC. You would never expect to find a great little bar and excellent food in the back of a liquor store, but maybe that's the point--OBC will exceed your expectations. The menu is somewhat limited but makes up for it in creativity. Special shoit out on the artichoke appetizer which is a must get. The food quality is exceptional regardless of what we have had--and we have had a lot--and the prices make OBC the best value in the area, or at least tied for first with Fluid State in Ventura. The service is awesome. Special nod to Jonathan who is fast, friendly, and knows the food, beer, and wine well enough to make perfect recommendations.

Wife and I decided to enjoy the day in Ojai on Christmas Eve. We figured most things would be closed, but so glad we discovered The Ojai Beverage Company. Drinks and Food were amazing, and well priced. We for the Cheat Day Burger which has a menagerie of proteins from beef patties, to crab and lobster. Our nephew was with us and got delicious Mac and Cheese and the fries are top notch. Jonathan the server was super friendly, did a great job checking on us, and they were great with our reserved 4-legged son. The ambiance has a wooden restaurant feel on the patio, but plenty of locals were dining there so that adds to the charm. Definitely a great place to eat if you're in Ojai.

To sum it up: Food: good. Service: good. Ambiance: that of a liquor store or a small pub. The layout of this place is a little odd as you walk into a liquor store and head toward the back to get to the restaurant. We were given the option of the covered patio or the tables right in the store. We opted for the covered patio that has much more room. Our drinks came, a Roy Roger's and Shirley Temple, mainly ice with a tiny bit of soda and grenadine. Then came the food. The kids chicken bites filled my mini-me up. The fries looked a little dark but were pretty good, not burnt at all. They have kid menus and Crayola crayons to entertain children (yes "crayola" not some cheap knockoff). My kid enjoyed his chicken bites to the last bite, which is rare for him. We ordered "The Q!" and a Western Drunk Burger. The Q is a heart stopping sandwich that will have your doctor cringing no matter how healthy you are, but it's worth every bite. The Q is a pulled pork sandwich with Mac n cheese and bacon on sourdough. I was lucky enough to get to finish half of this sandwich after finishing my burger despite not having much room left in my belly. My Western Drunk Burger was a hearty heavy perfectly cooked piece of beef, with onion straws and bbq sauce on a brioche bun. I got mine without the coleslaw as I've never been a fan. One bite of this burger and I knew exactly why this place came so strongly recommended. Up until that bite I wasn't impressed with a sticky table and ice filled drinks. One bite after another I couldn't put the burger down until finished. I found myself licking my fingers after contemplating a second. We both got the truffle fries at a cost of $2 more per meal, which we could've done without as the regular fries were better. The truffle fries were crispier but too light in flavor. Overall everything was reasonably priced, and pretty good. We will definitely be coming back. That's this critic's review, until next time, I'll be eating.

Food was ridiculously delicious. I had The Q, which is Mac & Cheese, pulled pork, and fried onions (pictured). My husband had the Western Drunk. I personally did not try it but he swore it was THE best burger he's ever had. My son had their kid's chicken bites and he cleared his plate so that should tell you something. The service was awesome and all around an enjoyable experience. Our first time here, but it definitely won't be our last.

This ended up working out because we had two drinks and sat out at the little fire pits on the lawn and enjoyed those. There were tons of families with kids there for Easter weekend and all the kids were making s'mores at the fire pit, which was cute to watch. We were notified our table was ready at 7:25 which was nice that it wasn't later. We sat down at a table that wasn't directly under a heater and after a few minutes asked the busser if we could switch to the table next-door. He obliged and moved us to the new table and turned the heater on. We were at the front of the patio and had a gorgeous view, again out over the golf course. The staff were all fantastic. From the hostesses to bussers to wait staff, everyone was highly attentive. Ok well all that is 5 stars for sure, but on to the food. Bread and butter were tasty, the rosemary butter was awesome. Our stomachs were a little bigger than their eyes and we ordered two entrées and FOUR sides. Lamb chops and Rib-eye were both cooked perfection but didn't blow me out of the water (especially for the price). The mashed potatoes were my favorite, perfectly seasoned and buttery smooth. Broccolini was also cooked perfectly, the lemon garnish helped to bring out a little flavor, but I do think it could've used something else, a little pepper or some Parmesan. The Mac N Cheese was good but mild for my taste. A little more of the crumb topping or a dash of salt and pepper would've helped make it pop a little more. Then there was the one big miss, which was the mustard greens. I feel like I've had them before, but I've certainly had many other types of similar greens and they had one single flavor which was extreme bitterness. It was just completely devoid of any other seasoning, salt, acid, SOMETHING, although with how better it was, I'm not sure much could be done. I just can't imagine that was the way it was intended to taste. For dessert, we had the old-fashioned doughnut bread pudding, which had a delicious marionberry ice cream on top and a sharp lemon blueberry compote on the side. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I definitely return to celebrate a special experience although I'd probably be a little more selective on some of my food choices next time.

Open-Fire BBQ with an artist's touch that makes even cornbread elevated. I promise- you'll be a fan too. The spiced compound butter with honey and flaked salt takes this dish over the top. I ordered the Smoked half chicken with lemongrass curry and rice. The meat was perfectly tender and smoked and complimented by the fabulous curry sauce. I wanted to lick the plate- it was that good. We shared the pulled pork with tamarind BBQ sauce and it too was a flavor bomb. The tamarind sauce was both Smokey, a tad spicy and just enough sweet to balance it. As sides we shared the beans and the garlic slaw. Each dish had its own garnish and flavor surprise in my mouth. Both were delicious. I can't say enough about the food other than -Do yourself a favor and eat at Joplin's. The setting is equally inviting with a charming outside patio with plenty of shade and Mountain Views. It's an ideal spot to linger over lunch. The indoor dining room is dark and dramatic with the bold rock-n-roll soundtrack playing in the background. The front of the restaurant is run by Saw's wife and you order before you're seated. They are gracious hosts and the service is good but remember- they are busy. When we arrived at 6 PM, we were told the restaurant was already out of most of the menu items and planned to close in about thirty minutes. The menu was also completely different from what was shown on their website. We ordered the tri‑tip with string‑cut fries, but the beef we received was extremely old, dry, and tough -- definitely not fresh, and certainly not "farm to table." On top of that, instead of the string‑cut fries we ordered, we were served a large pile of waffle fries. After the fact, we found a review mentioning that the restaurant changed ownership in November 2025, which explains the drastic shift in quality and menu.
