The liquor store was pretty plain and functional, located in a large, nondescript shopping center with a T-mobile store and the shell of a Rite-Aid. It was a small place, but stocked wall to wall with beverages and convenience store goods. I pulled two water bottles from one of the refrigerators, going for the rack that advertised two bottles for $5. It was only as I was paying that my brain returned to Earth and I realized that $2.50 was a stupid price for a bottle of water. The cashier was nice enough, maybe because he knew I'd fallen into a well placed trap. Oh well, we needed the water, and I suppose Mira Monte Liquor needs to pay the rent.
