Ownership changed 10 months ago. My wife and I hadn't been there for quite a while based on my previous 2 star review. But we decided to give it another chance last night. OMG what a pleasant surprise. They have significantly upgraded the interior. It is so welcoming and relaxing now. The menu has changed. They have such a nice variety of starters that can easily be shared. The mains are numerous. Plus they had 5 specials. Yes, 5 additional offerings to choose from. Quantity and quality of the food is impressive. The price points for all the menu items were very reasonable. I made a point of commenting to the two people tending the hostess table. My point was to compliment them on how impressed my wife and I were with the positive changes. Pam, the owner, was very interested in hearing the positives and any areas for improvement. If you haven't been there in a while, you need to go again for a pleasant evening. My wife and I will definitely return!!! read more

After being seated, we waited quite a long time for a server to show up. This was on a Wednesday. Luckily, because of our wait to be seated, we had ordered a cocktail at the bar. So at least we had something to do while we waited. We put a full order in and it was weirdly not staged. The appetizers came out with the main course. When I complained about this, the waitress showed up and offered to put it under the heat lamps until we were ready. We started with the brussels sprout with toasted almonds and bourbon maple syrup glaze. This was what could only be described as a crime on food. It was sicky sweet. For some reason, they put whole pecans instead of sliced. They drowned it with the maple syrup bourbon dressing instead of a light coat. It essentially tasted like you were eating dessert. You couldn't taste the Brussels at all. The other appetizer was smoked trout over toasted bread. There were mounds of smoked trout. Indeed, way too much. It tasted primarily of smoke and salt. There was no effort made to make it interesting really in any way shape or form. I had one of the six and left the rest. Next was shrimp skewers with arugula and mango salsa. The mango salsa and arugula were nice, frankly, the grilling of the shrimp was a distraction. It added a weird flavor that didn't blend well with the arugula and mango. Had they removed the tails and tossed the arugula and mango salsa, it would've incorporated well. As is, it was a very disjointed dish. The only thing worth eating was the fish and chips and it really was an excellent fish and chips. The tartar sauce was way too heavy and uninteresting, same for the coleslaw. But the fish and the fries were quite tasty. The view was excellent. The service was nominally acceptable. The waitress did accept my feedback graciously. read more

Asked the waiter if there was Shrimp in the clam chowder. I have an allergy. He came back saying just assume yes. I ask can you ask the chef please? He said they were too busy-- it was not a busy time or full, contrary to the response below. I spoke to the manager who came out and said there IS shellfish in the stock. Well no kidding. I am not allergic to clams. Only shrimp. They refused to get a proper answer and rather have us leave. She said they didn't want to bother the cooks because they were having trouble with them. Despite The Marina only having a 3.5-star rating on Yelp, I came in with high hopes based on several glowing 5-star reviews. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to those expectations--not just for me, but for the four others in my party as well. Let's start on a positive note: the outdoor seating by the river was lovely. It created a calm, relaxing dinner vibe, and the restaurant even provided blankets as the night air cooled, which was a thoughtful touch. For appetizers, we ordered the feta buffalo dip, clam strips, and New England clam chowder. The clam strips were pretty standard--nothing special--but the chowder was quite good. The feta dip, surprisingly, was a hit. It came with chickpeas, which I'm usually not a fan of, but it was absolutely delicious. I could've eaten the whole plate myself. That said, one of the biggest issues of the night was the very long wait for our food. From the time we ordered to the time entrees arrived, it took far longer than what would be considered reasonable--even with the restaurant being moderately busy. It definitely added to the overall frustration of the experience. Now to the entrées: * My wife had the salmon. She said it was cooked well but lacked seasoning. The accompanying carrots were plain--just steamed, with no salt or flavoring at all. * One of our friends ordered the steak tips after seeing them at nearby tables (they looked great), but his came out over-charred. He said the flavor underneath was good, but the burnt exterior ruined it. * Two of us, including myself, ordered the Osso Buco with creamy polenta. The polenta was thicker than expected--more like mashed potatoes--but the flavor was good. I thought it was just okay overall, though my friend really enjoyed it. The meat was well-seasoned and tender... until we both got about halfway in and discovered the centers of our braised shanks were frozen. Not cold--frozen. To her credit, our waitress handled it professionally. She comped both dishes and even told us, to our surprise, that it was the second time this had happened that night--which seriously raises concerns about what's going on in the kitchen. Needless to say, we left disappointed. The setting was beautiful, and a few bites stood out, but the long wait times, inconsistent food quality, and major kitchen errors make it unlikely that any of us will be returning. read more

This warm and delicious lunch was the perfect compliment to the beautiful, crisp, fall VT day! She was our sever and she was very sweet and provided efficient service. We started with the mussels, which came with crusty bread in a wonderful white wine sauce. TIP! Order an extra bit of bread, you'll want it to sop up the delicious broth. My husband had the VT burger with fries and I had the Moroccan Stew! The burger was delicious but the complexity of the stews flavor profile makes me want to hurry up and enjoy the leftovers! Not only Was she AWESOME table side, knew the Menu inside and out. Made perfect recommendations for my wife and I. But, that is not the only reason for this review. We came to Vemont to complete our fifty state excursion and decided to have lunch at this lovely restaurant on Easter Sunday. There was no wait at 11:30 am so we got a nice table overlooking the water. Our server quickly came over and took our drink and food orders. They had a special menu for Easter. It included prime rib, maple glazed ham, baked haddock and crab stuffed shrimp. I opted for the maple glazed ham with garlic mashed potatoes and corn. My husband had the baked haddock, garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. Both meals were delicious and plentiful. We were too full for dessert, but I'm sure they were also good. I had dinner with my wife on a weekday. There were various specials to choose from in addition to all beers on tap priced at 6 dollars. We started off with the calamari appetizer which was a good size portion with large juicy pieces. This was served with a rich tangy red dipping sauce. It was an awesome dish and I could have ordered another. My wife simply had the wings and onion rings. The chicken wings were very meaty and flavored well without being too spicy. The Onion rings were perfect, not like the lousy frozen ones some restaurants serve. I had the maple salmon whish was superb. The fish was perfectly prepared with a nice maple glaze that added to taste of the salmon. I also had the fresh mashed potatoes and vegetables...my plate was wiped clean. Service was exceptional we did not have to wait for water or anything we needed, the atmosphere is as nice as it gets in the area. The servings were plentiful and most of all quality was top notch. The overall price was very reasonable for such a fine meal. We definitely will make the Marina a top choice for dinner together or to share the experience with others especially on special occasions. read more

This place is fabulous. The interior of the restaurant is bright and beautiful with charming decor. They also have lots of outside seating, which is of course where you want to be because you're right on the water. The cocktails were wonderful, particularly the lovely purple Bee's Knees. They also have equally delicious mocktails for non-drinkers. The food is fresh and flavorful. I had the Twin Shrimp Burgers and secretly wished it was quadruplets because they were so good. I love that they have specials, which on the day we went was a Buffalo Chicken Wrap. The special was delicious as well, with a nicely grilled tortilla and no shortage of spicy sauce. Desserts were huge, we ordered tiramisu and an ice cream sandwich. They had a couple different combos of ice cream and cookie which was awesome. We went with cookies and cream and it did not disappoint. Only thing I would say is the parking there is a bit of a mess, and I could see how this could be a problem on really busy days. Food could have come out a tiny bit faster as well. I was on my second drink before the food arrived, but those little things won't stop me from returning. Love it! read more

First the good. Always clean with one of the best water views around. Good selection of draft ipas. We were there in April and this was our second visit since the new owners took over. My wife misses the veg burger but she enjoyed her grilled veg sandwich. The french fries were over-cooked, hard and tough to chew. I miss the old fish and chips that were served here. This was the second and last time that I will be ordering the new version. It was over-fried, dry and not worth the high $27 for haddock and the portion. The photo image posted by the Marina of their fish and chips is not what I received. It was 4 divided portions in a basket. Sweet potato fries were decent. I order fish and chips whenever I go out. I don't make it at home. This one is on the top five of my list for disappointing and pricey. We will probably return this fall but reconsider the menu. We will go for the view, the beer and who knows what we will be ordering. read more

We visited the newly re-opened Marina last night, March 7, 2025. We were regular customers at the former Marina restaurant but had been disappointed to see the quality of the food deteriorate so badly in the last couple years. We were really looking forward to the re-opening under new management in the hope that both the food and the menu would improve. We were very disappointed to find both menu and food worse than ever - and much more expensive. The wine choices were meagre and the one we chose was awful, very disappointing at $10.00 a glass. Likewise, the food choices left much to be desired. The tacos were some sort of soft tacos in what was more like a poor quality roll than a taco. The filling of mushrooms and cold slaw was peculiar to say the least. But worst of all were the fried clams: some sort of previously frozen mixture which obviously no clam had ever visited. No seafood taste at all. All of us are new Englanders and have lived part of our lives on the coast. We know what a fried clam, a local delicacy for us, is supposed to taste like. These fried dough things were not it! But finally we ordered dessert and coffee. After all, what could the Marina do to coffee and a simple dessert? When the waiter came over with the coffee, we couldn't believe it. A half cup of coffee in a big, heavy, cold cup. The coffee itself was atrocious, lukewarm and bitter! Probably the worst cup of coffee we had ever had. The dessert was good, the best dish of the evening. The only problem was that the portion was so tiny that it was too small for one person, let alone two. We had always shared dessert at the former Marina. In the new incarnation It had shrunk surprisingly and cost more. We can't believe that you cannot serve better food and still make a profit. My friends who have tried the newly opened Marina are saying they will never go back. But formerly, even with the so so food, the view and the dedicated wait staff brought us back. Now, if the food (which is much worse that so so ) and drink don't improve, even the lovely view and the kindly waiters won't be enough - unless you let us bring our own wine and food and simply pay you, say, $20.00 for the view. I really hope that you can improve things at what used to be one of our favorite dining places. And we wish you the best in your efforts to do better. We will keep checking with our friends in the hope that we can come back eventually. In the meantime, we are sorry to have to give you such a poor review. We were visiting nearby and wanted to stop here for lunch. The restaurant is rather large with several areas to dine at. They have a full bar area with several high tops to dine at, and at least 3 different dining areas. We were lucky enough to get a table with a water view. For starters, I had the lobster bisque which tasted really good but personally I like my bisque more on the thicker side and this one was not so, in addition I also found it lacking in lobster. My girlfriend had the spinach, artichoke dip and she definitely enjoyed it. For our lunch I had the Moroccan stew which was a vegetarian dish made up of butternut squash, peppers, onions, garlic, chickpea and corn. My girlfriend had the spinach and artichoke dip served with chips. She enjoyed the dip, it was tasty. She had the fish and chips which seemed to be made fresh. They tasted so good.
