This place rocks! I mean Literally. We've never been here prior and really didn't know it even existed. The wife bought tickets to Leonoid and Friends. (Chicago tribute) It was a blast. Two hour concert, great comfortable seating in a small venue. Although I believe we were the youngest couple there, I was kinda nice to sit and watch a concert. I think I need to review both the restaurant and the venue. The restaurant is three stars, tops. I do love that the garage doors open when the weather is right. The restaurant is extraordinarily convenient for the shows downstairs. I ordered battered fish. I don't recall if it was a sandwich I ordered without the bread. It came with tartar sauce and I must have ordered a side of cauliflower. It looks good in the pic, but the flavor is unmemorable. Mark ordered the Sky Dog. The picture doesn't inspire, "Yum!". I do recall 'reordering' a non-alcoholic beer and getting a full-alcohol beverage instead. Maybe the waitress should have been paying closer attention. There are other restaurants in the area that work for pre-concert dinners. The venue itself is pretty cool. It's oddly shaped. I've seen performers struggle with which way to stand... a bit this way, a bit that way. It's an odd setup. That said, it's a small venue and the sound is great. Between the restaurant, which gets points for convenience, and the venue which gets points for intimacy, The Ludlow Garage is pretty good overall. read more

Went to see Storm Large OMG! She was amazing. The food and atmosphere were tops. The food was very tasty especially the tots.

Unique menu. Had a wagu hot dog with mac and beer cheese on a bun. It was very delicious. We were told it was a bit pricey but it was perfect. For our hot sandwiches with fries and tots was $15. No up charge for the fries/tots. It was a little weird strolling up to at 6:15 to a nearly empty place and being told they weren't taking walk ups because they had reservations all night. Luckily we could sit at the bar, and service was extremely quick that by the time reservations started arriving 45 minutes later we were nearly done. We weren't the only ones with the reservations surprise, which wasn't exactly helped by the fact that the hostess stand was almost always abandoned despite the fact several staff were hanging around the bar. But most were able to sit at the bar in the end. This place also hosts concerts in the basement but it's pretty dang large and opens up to above the main level. read more

What a surprisingly unique restaurant and music venue. My wife and I came down for a concert before watching Yngwie Malmsteen's neoclassical shredding. The food was very good. Let me call out three elements of my spinach salad that were unique and awesome. 1) the cucumber was sliced thinly and at an angle versus the traditional flat thick piece you get. So classy cucumber. 2) they added a smoked chipotle powder to the boiled egg. This really made the salad more flavorful 3) the salmon was cooked.crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It was just a fantastic salad. My wife had their in-house vegan veggie burger. VERY tasty. A bit crumbly probably due to the lack of egg, but it was worth scraping up every crumble on the plate. We had a couple Pilsners that were great to enjoy before the concert as well. The restaurant looks like a classic bar restaurant with an open air from that faces the sidewalk and street. A bit of a Euro vibe. Now the bigger surprise was the downstairs concert venue. It seats about 500 by my guess and the chairs are comfortable like a nice movie theater. You would never expect this looking at the modest street front facing of the restaurant. The stage is big enough for a four piece band as long as they don't move around a lot. This worked fine for Yngwie who we watched. Going to the Ludlow Garage for a show is like being invited to someone's secret lair. The bathrooms were quite nice as well. Ludlow Garage captured my interest by hosting Yngwie but won me over with the food and venue. I'll be back! read more

I got an excellent house-made veggie burger and fries before the show. Service was attentive and friendly but never intrusive. So far so good! The venue is weird, though. In a basement, but instead of the expected floor with a few tables in front and a bar in back, you've got 2 sections of movie theater seats--not raked, so the sightlines are horrible. If you're seated in the back, you're simply not going to see the artist. Also if you have to pee in the midst of the show (I saw Lez Zeppelin, so the audience skewed older and male, so a lot of people had to pee during the show), you have to either clamber through a railing or walk right in front of the artist. At the show I attended, security booted a drunk guy for standing up and kind of grooving in his seat. He was obviously drunk but also not a threat to himself or others. Another guy tried to dance in the aisle, but security quickly shut him down. It wasn't until the band begged us to stand that anyone in the audience dared get out of their seat. I guess if you want to sit quietly and enjoy a singer songwriter, this is a decent place, (though you won't see the artist if you're seated in the back) but it's an ill-conceived and poorly executed place for any kind of band that makes you want to move. I wouldn't see a show here again unless I absolutely loved the band and knew they weren't playing at a better venue. Four stars for great bar food and beer upstairs. Two stars for a venue that worked against the artist downstairs. read more

I have been to this Restaurant, Twice within Two Weeks. My 1st Visit was good. I got a Table & enjoyed everything I ordered. On my Second Visit, 9/12/25, I got a Carry-out & was very disappointed! I ordered a Classic Burger which was $15 & I told the Server/Bartender, Paul E., that I wanted all the Toppings. All I got was a very "Thinned" Sliced Tomato, a piece of Lettuce & Cheddar Cheese. $15 was way to much for that Sandwich! I also Ordered a Salad which was good & an Ice Tea. Sad thing is, I wasn't asked what kind of Tea I wanted. Paul E. brought me an Unsweetened Tea. I took some of the Blame for that. My Ice Tea was $3.00 for a Small Plastic Cup I also got a Salad which was good. Another Sad thing, I did not get any Condiments, Eating Utensils or a Napkin! Lastly, My Order had been ready and the Server/Bartender, Paul E. "never" brought it to me. He was "busy" on this Cell Phone! I was just sitting, waiting & another Employee asked was I waiting to be Seated & I said, "no," waiting on a Carry-out. He checked & it was just sitting there. I asked how long my Order has been there, he couldn't tell me, only, "just not long." That was very Poor Customer Service I received from the Server/Bartender, Paul E. that took my Order & he wasted my Time & I still left him a Tip. Enjoyed my concert experience quite a bit. Thought my meal was just so-so, but I'll definitely return.

My husband and I decided to check out this restaurant because we were attending a concert downstairs. I was really hoping this place would be good so it could possibly be our go to before concerts but, the food and the service was just OK. We had a reservation and when we arrived the restaurant was pretty empty but, they wanted to sit us in a tiny booth that was in an awkward place in a tight corner (see picture). We asked if we could be seated somewhere else and they moved us to a table. The machine gun shrimp appetizer was recommended by the server but it was missing something... maybe a sauce to dip it in?! The shrimp was a tiny bit spicy and after biting into one shrimp i noticed it was just the baby baby shrimp with a whole lot of breading. Definitely not top of the line shrimp. I order the Thai Salmon and that was just okay. I felt like it was missing a whole lot of flavor and the presentation looked better than it tasted. My husband got the Bulgogi burger and said it was good but the bun should've been toasted. I don't think we'll be back for dinner but we'll definitely be back to attend a concert at their venue. read more

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding an incident that occurred at The Ludlow Garage today December 20, 2024, where my mother and I were racially profiled by Trina, the district manager. We attended a concert in September 2024 at the venue and attempted to place a food order with a server named Sam. Despite our efforts to get her attention, Sam continually walked past us. When we finally managed to speak with her, she apologized and offered to cover our meal on our next visit, instructing us to mention her name. As we reside in Dayton, Ohio, we returned to at The Ludlow Garage today, December 20, 2024, and informed our server about the previous incident. Although Sam was not present, the server assured us that she would take care of the issue. We placed our order, but upon reviewing the receipt, we noticed that the covered meal was still listed. We promptly brought this to the server's attention, reminding her of her earlier statement. The server advised us that they would retrieve their manager. The Manager then came to our table and said is there a problem with the check and stated that she was unable to cover our meals in Sam's absence. Without seeking our perspective as customers, she claimed that several individuals had been stating that Sam had covered their meals, and she could not permit this to continue. We allowed the manager to finish her conversation and then I intervened , expressing our dissatisfaction with her implication that we were being dishonest and had no involvement in the actions of others . She failed to introduce herself upon approaching our table , neglecting to inquire about our concerns and instead relying solely on the information provided by the server . As I attempted to explain our issue , she interrupted me , utilizing gestures and requesting evidence of Sam's statement regarding the complimentary meals , In what way is this statement untrue when we have knowledge of the girl's name and the phone's timestamp, which indicates September 19, 2024, at 10:30. Before cutting me off once more and stating that this was not their standard protocol and they give gift cards . I paused to inquire about the manager's name, as she had not taken the time to introduce herself when she arrived at our table. Her response was brief: "My name is Trina, what's the problem?" This seemed dismissive, particularly given that I had already provided context. I restated my concerns, but she continued to cut me off. I asked if I could have her district managers information and was informed that she was the district manager. Considering that the server had assured us the chicken wings would be taken care of, and we ultimately did not eat them I asked that they be removed from our bill. Trina rapidly took the to-go boxes off the table and loudly stated that it was fine. She continued speaking at us, failing to acknowledge our concerns. We felt the conversation was unsuccessful, primarily due to Trina's unprofessional behavior, her tendency to interrupt, and her accusations suggesting we were dishonest, which further implied that others had made similar statements about Sam replacing their orders. I asked Trina when Sam would be returning, and she informed me that Sam has Covid and is unsure when she will be back. Sharing Sam's illness may be a HIPAA violation, as we should not have been provided with this information. Rather than acknowledging customer concerns, Trina irresponsibly discarded the chicken wings, resulting in financial losses for the company. We perceive that we were racially profiled because we are Black Americans, and the way Trina spoke down to us was remarkably disrespectful and unacceptable. This will be our final visit to Ludlow Garage, as we were disappointed by the lack of customer service and the unprofessional behavior displayed by Trina. We've been loyal customers of this company for years and being treated like this is unacceptable and we will be taking action by contacting the company's owners. read more

Is the food edible? Yes. Is the service good? Yes. Does this restaurant stand out in any way? No. Server was friendly (little gal from high school/college) and accurate. We were seated quickly and drinks came quickly. Food was mediocre at best and overpriced. $14 for a modestly portioned breakfast bowl is ridiculous. The fries were frozen/store bought as well. Wish I could've had a drink but usually I try not to when traveling alone with my son. Or...if I do, it's usually a beer! The drinks at the other tables looked inviting. Afterwards, we walked along Ludlow which reminds me of Broadripple. The shows are in the basement, we saw Acoustic Alchemy-wonderful performance. Service downstairs was great, restrooms were clean. We went to the Ludlow Garage for lunch on Sunday. They added a brunch menu until 3. We gave it a try. The breakfast tacos were great. Two tacos with seasoned egg and cheese. It also came with a cup of Tex Mex seasoned tater tots. The tots were a little salty for me, but I managed to devour them all . I would definitely order it again. My wife ordered the French toast which looked impressive when it came to the table with nice thick slabs of toast,however it wasn't great. It was not done through the middle, and the plate side half of the bread was solid brown and over cooked making it leathery. It was supposed to be topped with apple, but we couldn't find it. Our wait service was exceptional. Very attentive and helpful. We probably should have sent the French toast back but it would have messed out the timing of our lunch. It was the middle of the afternoon and the restaurant was not especially busy. It was a very nice relaxing atmosphere, I love that place. Get the Breakfast Tacos for sure. read more

Cool, fun place that is a great venue for seeing an artist that you're a fan of. My friend and I ate before the show (made a reservation to be safe). The food wasn't particularly memorable (veggie burger, cod sandwich) but the service and server were great. Our server asked if we were going to the show and offered to take our picture. The show and venue, in the basement, was really, really nice. We were fortunate to have snagged front row seats so the view was spectacular and intimate. The venue probably holds 400 people or so, 200 down one side and 200 down the other. There was drink service outside the doors and it was easily accessible. I'm reviewing this purely on the venue downstairs. We didn't eat upstairs, so I can't speak about it. But, read for yourself and make your own decisions. The venue is small but, very nicely done. Dark & intimate, it suits a show where the artist/band mixes a lot with the crowd. Clean & professional with a bar just right outside the doors. Seats are on 2- of the four sides of the stage, so you're almost promised to get a good seat. Seats themselves are comfortable, leather full seats. Very comfortable. Parking is on the street or in a small pay lot a couple of doors down. Absolutely worth going to, to catch a concert. Sign up for their emails, too! read more

They have a hydrogen sulfide (sewer) gas problem in the basement, which is where one of the bars and the main music venue is. This has been an issue since at least the last time I saw a show there about a year ago. It was really bad that time. Seriously, they need to fix it. I mentioned it to several staff folks, but it hasn't been remedied. Hydrogen sulfide gas can be toxic in high concentrations, and at best is noxious in low concentrations. That's why MSD workers have those huge ventilation tubes when they're working underground. It's incredibly off-putting and potentially dangerous that Ludlow Garage still has this problem...please FIX IT! It certainly doesn't help the already awkward layout and acoustically challenged venue room. Too bad this place is so consistently problematic in multiple ways because they draw some really cool acts. read more

I was surprised that I hadn't been to a performance at The Ludlow Garage before this weekend. When the opportunity presented itself, I jumped on it! I came in for a funk band (that did not disappoint). I arrived a little earlier than my friends so I decided to get my ticket, and grab a seat at the upstairs bar to wait on them. When I first sat down, there was one bartender behind the bar (super nice guy) struggling to keep up and three people standing behind the host stand (where the traffic was moderate - felt like one person could have handled it). It definitely took too long to get a drink, but eventually a couple other people jumped behind the bar to help out. The venue itself seems to have changed since some of the other reviews were written. There is a standing area closer to the stage on each side where you can get your groove on (because who wants to go to a concert and just sit?!). The downstairs bar was kind of a nightmare to get a drink at. Each time i went for a drink. it took about 15 minutes to get served. The layout of the bar area is tough...plus some of the staff seemed to struggle to keep up (while some of the others were really hustling). The drink prices are about what I would expect for a music venue of this nature. The drinks pours were VERY inconsistent. I ordered a whiskey on the rocks. My first pour was very generous, the next two felt disappointing (though, my hangover the next morning felt gracious). The sound quality was pretty decent, though, the vocals were a little difficult to hear at times (though, that could be due to the mixing/artist on stage). All in all, there's a few things that I think The Ludlow Garage could improve on, but there's lots of great things to say as well. read more

Damn, my friends and I found ourselves asking how we'd never been here for a show before?!! I found out only a few days before that longtime favorite, Fuel, was going to be doing a solo show here. Cant say the venue does that much advertising, just stumbled across the listing on Facebook. We looked up tickets and saw they were really reasonable! So here's the lowdown on the venue. -Parking is on the street or available in the Gaslight district merchant lot across the street. Id recommend parking in the lot, its only a $1 an hour and if you remember to get validation from here, first hour is free! (Lot takes cash and credit). It is also well lit at night. -The upstairs of Ludlow Garage is the restaurant. If you wish to eat here on day of show, reservations are required. There is also a decent sized bar. -The Music Venue is downstairs, along with a second bar, and the only bathrooms. The venue itself has unique cushy movie theater style seats with cup holders in front. The arrangement is an L, with the stage in the corner. Some shows are reserved seating and some are general admission so first come first serve. For this particular show I called ahead to ask and the guy I spoke to told me it was reserved so no need to show up way early. We got there and guess what? It was general admission. It seemed quite a few people showed up early, placed their jackets on a seat, and then went to grab drinks or dinner. Everyone was respectful of this. In the end, half the crowd ended up just standing in the space between the seating and right up next to the stage, so it didnt matter anyways. This allowed those who didnt mind standing to get super close to the band. Honestly its such a small venue everyone is close to the band, haha. -Drinks weren't terribly unreasonable at the bar and included craft beers (draft or can). The sound of the show was sensational. Lighting was good. Fuel put on an AWESOME show! Only downside was show was listed as going from 830pm-11pm and yet the band was done by 10pm. Someone mentioned perhaps the band had an extenuating circumstance (illness or such). Nobody was upset because the hour and half they played ROCKED! I absolutely cannot wait to come back here for another show! They do a combination of nation and local bands. Seems theres some great upcoming country shows! I was not impressed. The venue is weird and handicap accessibility is basically nil. Your choice is either walk down steep steps or get on a dusty rusty open elevator that at first we could not get to work. The manager lectured us on how to use it. I didn't appreciate her tone. My husband fell walking up the steps after the concert. He has gait issues do to multiple strokes. Do not purchase ticket in the back by the main entrance. You won't be able to see the band and there is too much in and out with patrons. I felt trapped in my seat because of the railing on the side and 4 people on the other side. Seats are like old movie theater seats. We ate upstairs first. My husband enjoyed the burger but my fish was meh. Fries too salty. Beer not that cold. What I can say is the band was excellent!!!
