Everyone in Chapel Hill seems to love the Loop, but I think it's only okay and that people tend to over-hype it. The staff are pretty efficient, but not really very friendly. It's also kind of overpriced for what you get, but there are a few plates that are good. I like to get the chicken strips plate. My husband used to come here when it was first started. Today is my first time. He spoke so highly before we came. When I saw the 3stars rating I was skeptical. I was wrong. A friend of mine suggested this spot to me for lunch or an informal dinner. Solid place with a really good menu of pizza, salads, burgers, and sandwiches. My burger was pretty average but well prepared. I liked the healthy choices of sides including cole slaw or steamed veggies. My wife had the Asian chicken salad which was "perfectly dressed". She also liked being able to have a glass of wine with her salad. Service was very quick and the counter staff was friendly and engaging. The setting is very spacious and good for families or large groups. It's location is ideal if you are heading into Chapel Hill but don't want to deal with the crummy places right around UNC. The Loop is our favorite go-to restaurant. You can't beat the pizzas (the best in town!), the milkshakes, and the salads. The burgers and soups are contenders, too. Basically, there's something for everyone in a crowd. The kids meals are a great deal and perfect for picky eaters who want food their way. We used to love this place. Since covid started, we ordered delivery food from The Loop several times a month. It's becoming impossible! The wait for delivery is each time longer. Last time we waited more than two hours to get our food delivered--it was initially scheduled to be delivered after 45/50 minutes. We hate to have to give up on this place, especially in this moment, but it's not acceptable to order food without knowing when it will be delivered--especially with children. Very sad. read more

The Loop is a local franchise with several locations throughout RTP. I have been know to frequent the one in the EAST GATE Shopping Center in Chapel Hill. These guys hit the ball out of the park almost everytime. The Cilantro Chicken pizza is by far and away my favorite menu item. I order it everytime I go. They are always coinsistant. THe flavors are outstanding and the crust is perfect. The new menu item which seems to come and go is the Brie and Mushroom soup. It is awsome. I got a cup to try it and immediately regretted not getting the bowl. The next time I went they said it wasn't on the menu that day .. Boo. The prices are reasonable and the food is great. The Loop is one of those American joints that I've gone to time to time for years. The variety of staples they sell is not bad: anywhere from pizzas, salads, wraps... The food here is decent. Everything is average-priced; your lunch/dinner will range anywhere from the $8-15 range. What I find most problematic about the Loop is the service and ambience. Management always seems to be pushy or harsh, not only to customers but their own staff. The rest of the restaurant desperately needs renovating. Now in this day and age, we all crave something unique and different. I would prefer to go out to a place that serves food I cannot make as good as at home. Even though it's called The Loop Pizza Grill, I have yet to try the pizza here, even though I've been quite a few times. What I can tell you, though, is that they have some pretty awesome burgers and salads. As a few other reviews have mentioned, The Loop gets pretty busy around noon on weekdays. I've had a little difficulty finding a seat at times, and when I'm on my lunch break, I'm always a little worried that I won't have enough time to sit down and enjoy my meal. I prefer to come around 11:00 or around 1:30. It's pretty quiet around both of those times. I've had both the Crunchy Broccoli salad and the Classic Chicken Caesar, both of which I really enjoyed. The salads are huuuuge! I can't finish an entire one by myself. I also like the burgers there, and I usually get the chips as a side. They're homemade and so salty and good. I love 'em. For something a little more fun, I would suggest an order of the Bleu Cheese Chips. read more

With three tables in use in the restaurant, I ordered lunch with a friend. I got a wrap and he got a salad. Twenty minutes later, our food was said to be ready. Mine was not what I ordered. I waited another 10-15 minutes for what I actually ordered and I finally decided to ask for my money back. The guy behind the counter tried to put it on a gift card, like I want to come back for more of this. I asked for my money back again and he claimed to have put it back on my credit card. The food was bland, over cooked and it was not prepared as I requested and on top of that it took way too long for the quality of food (or lack thereof). This establishment should be ashamed of selling such lackluster food at these prices. First and last time going here I can't believe this establishment is actually still in business as they are passing off refuse as actual food. The Loop is my favorite burger back in Jacksonville, Florida and I was so excited to see that there are randomly two locations here. They are just as good! The burgers, grilled chicken, and steak fries all just as good as home. The drink machines even have the mini mountain of crushed ice like the other seven locations I've been too. I have mixed feelings about the Loop, so I'll start with what I like. The Loop serves a variety of items, including salads, burgers, wraps and pizzas. I've had quite a few of their menu items, and some are better than others. My favorite is the fantastic fried chicken salad, which comes in a huge bowl with tons of lettuce, great fried chicken pieces, cheddar cheese, croutons, tomatoes, onions and ranch dressing. Everyone raves about their burgers, but they're kind of greasy. The pizza is really good, though the personal pizza is more like a snack. The Caesar salad wrap is decent, but they usually drench it in dressing. I really like their fries and onion rings, too. The milkshakes are amazing, and I highly recommend getting an Oreo milkshake. As much as I love their crushed ice, I wish they'd add some sugar to their sweet tea, it's the South, dammit! There are also quite a few things I do not like about the Loop. First, the Loop is very popular and always out of control. There are usually a ton of families with young children, and it's a very open restaurant, which means it is very noisy. I have no problems with it being busy (I actually enjoy the friendly crowd), but I don't think the restaurant's service stands up to its popularity. To get served at the Loop, you stand in line to place your order before taking a seat. More often than not, the line to order is outrageously long. There are two registers but one is generally closed. I understand that they sometimes do this to slow the line down when there are no seats in the dining area, but this isn't usually the case. For some reason, ordering just takes FOREVER. I'm not sure if it's the employees, the computer system, etc. Also, I find the employees here to be rather unfriendly on the whole, especially the ones who work the register. These are people who I see working on almost every visit, so they can't use the "new employee" excuse. For example, the last time I was here I presented one of the store's text coupons (be sure to join their coupon club in the store) for the cashier to read. She then made some smart remark about not knowing what I was showing her and proceeded to roll her eyes when I explained. A simple transgression, but representative of the service as a whole. To make matters worse, I cannot tell you the number of times I've been ordering and the cashier will strike up a simultaneous conversation with another employee. This is a big annoyance for me, so the behavior definitely stands out. On top of the less-then-cheery staff, the food service can be slow. Big crowds mean longer waits, but a salad shouldn't take 30 minutes at lunch time. Overall, the Loop is a fine place for a casual meal. My review may seem quite negative, but I frequent the place so don't think I hate it. If the service were better and prices slightly lower it would definitely rank at four stars. read more

Good spot to have casual lunch fare. You order and pay at the counter and then they call you when the food is ready-- we've gone a few times during off-peak times and it's been pretty speedy. The few things I've tried on the menu have been pretty reliable, such as the grilled fish or grilled salmon sandwich, and grilled veggie with couscous salad. Yummy onion rings, which I prefer over the thick-cut fries. On the other hand, the veggie pizza was tasty but at $8.29 was expensive for it's 8" size (You can get a same-size portion of even better-tasting pizza at the neighbouring Whole Foods for less than half the price). This restaurant is pretty kid-friendly, which earns an extra star for me-- kids' meals are $4.49, include a drink (e.g. milk) and a side. Tuesday nights kids' meals are only $2.99 with an adult entrée purchase. The Loop is a good standby option if you want a quick, tasty, family meal. read more

I work at UNC so the loop is pretty close to me. I've always enjoyed their food, they have some of the best salads I've ever had. I would sometimes beg my husband to stop by there at lunch and bring me a salad when I was glued to my desk. Those red onios are HOT! Love 'em. I kinda like their hamburger and fries so I seem in be in the minority on this site since everyone else says they are either so-so or not so hot. Don't like the pizza though. I'm an amanti's gal when it comes to barbque chicken pizza so I may be biased. Anyway, I love the noise and the crowd so that's a plus for me but I imagine it's not everyone's cup of tea. The two people I went with were satisfied but my salad was disappointing. Asian Chicken had frozen lettuce, so it was thin, wilted and see-through. I had to check the chicken to see what it was (very thinly sliced, actually looked like wonton/crispy toppings). There was 1 slice of cucumber, the rest was lettuce and carrot shavings. I wanted "no nuts," but the topping has crispy things mixed with nuts, so there went the topping. I asked for salad dressing on the side, but it came already on. It has been a crazy long time since I had the chance to dine here, but I do remember their milkshakes with great fondness. This was a fantastic place to go as an undergraduate when I wanted some good fresh food -- always had great salads and a terrific portobello mushroom "burger". If I remember correctly, it is superbusy on the weekends as many other reviewers have mentioned. My family and I visited the Loop recently to use a Groupon for pizza, side salads and drinks for four. We paid $3.00 extra to get the tomato bisque pizza. I have always loved the tomato bisque soup and thought, why not try it on a pizza. As usual we were not disappointed! The side salads were delicious. I got the caesar salad and was very impressed... That caesar dressing is the real deal! The pizza was also very good. I'm not a fan of the whole garlic cloves on the pizza but at least they were big enough to see and pick off. Really like eating here - have never had their pizza but their burgers are great. Like the Loop n Cheddar. Big and juicy with a big slice of raw onion. They have nice big crunchy steak fries and the shakes are great. I love places that give you the silver milkshake cup with the rest of the shake in it. The blue cheese chips are to die for. The portobello mushroom sandwich has a giant mushroom plus grilled veggies in balsamic=yum. Great vegetarian option. I know this may sound weird but their Coke is really good; a nice syrup to water ratio over crushed ice (you coca cola connoisseurs know what I'm talkin' bout). read more

The Loop comes from the Chicago-style Deep Dish pizza. The Loop is what people call the train tracks that circle the downtown business district. Anyway... I have been eating here for a long time. The ICE is the best ice in the area. I suggest the Chicken Caesar Salad (you need to ASK for a hot chicken breast on top, otherwise you get cold chicken slices and half the amount of meat). The homemade garlic croutons are amazing. But sometimes, because it's an order and then wait for your number to get called sort of place, the wait can be a bit much. read more
