I stopped in, this was my first and last time. I sat at the bar, and the bartender seemed more focused on cleaning than on assisting me. When he finally walked up to me he asked what he could get me. I asked for a wine menu. In my experience, after you receive drinks, you're either asked for or given a food menu. I was never asked or given a menu. I stopped in for food as well. Lo and behold two white males walked in and sat at the bar. The bartender immediately walked over to them and gave them menus and took their drink orders and what seemed to be the popcorn that's given at the bar. Why was the experience different? I am an AA female may I add. What a shame! Melissa D., Esq

Beautiful interior, delicious food, and wonderful staff. Perfect for date night, solo dinner or a celebration. We enjoyed the steak egg rolls, their warm rolls, the prime rib, and the bistro chicken. The Gouda Mac and cheese was okay, not much seasoning on it, but the creamed spinach, broccoli and mashed potatoes were good sides. I also enjoyed a strawberry fauxito. I can't wait to go back!

OMG! This place is absolutely amazing! I ordered the lamb chops with Mac and cheese and it was sooooooo delicious! It was cooked to perfection, the service was outstanding, and the vibe was to die for! This place gets a 10 out of 10 and I can't wait to come back real soon. Thank you for the amazing service and delicious meal.

On special occasions and even just for lunch on the weekends. Stoney River is a go to spot for us. We are always greeted with a smile from their great staff. Stoney has a great ambience and exceptional vibe. My steak is always cooked to perfection and they have the best baked potatoes. I will definitely continue to visit Stoney River for any occasion. I advise you to do the same.

The service was very sub par. We have been at this restaurant more than 35 times and Carolina L the server was not very attentive and wanted to be right in her words and explaining we could not have medium rare prime rib even though we have had medium rare many times. She wanted to lower our expectations that our food would likely be overcooked to our liking even when we were ordering at 5:30 pm. Appetizers plates, dishes, menus were left at table throughout meal. I finally stacked up the dirty dishes to one side and they were still not cleared until dessert. Of course she saw the table dishes were finally removed by the time check arrived. Very poor attention to details.

The service here is great. Mia was our server. We were greeted upon entry. The table was clean, as well as the restaurant. Very dark intimate vibe here. I like the open kitchen.I enjoyed the steak rolls, the dinner rolls were delicious. I also enjoyed the Cesar salad and the Mac and cheese.,I had the gin cocktail and that was really good. Well balanced. The lamb chops were thickly cut but not as flavorful as I expected.

Always a good experience at Stoney River. My first time at this location and the food service and atmosphere was great as expected. It's been a few years since I've come and glad to know the steak egg rolls taste just as good as they did the first time I had them. All other food was good too. Highly recommend.

Another great dinner at Stoney River. In all of the times we have been here, I dont think we have had a poor experience. The service is timely, food is accurate, and the drinks are top notch. Our waitress this vist, Marley, was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. My go to order is the wild mushroom meatloaf. The sauce is excellent. I rarely get anything different. This time I got the stacked cheeseburger and it blew my mind. We got the steak frites. Usually it is excellent but this time the steak did not have a good sear on it. We were having a good time and didn't complain about it but if it happens again will bring that up. Otherwise the food was great and we will be back again soon.

Our waiter was the happiest sweetest guy. He never failed to come to our table without a huge smile on his face. The food is amazing. It truly is so good and worth the higher price point. The portions are huge so to-go boxes are common. The menu is very broad so everyone is able to find something they will enjoy. The drink list is also very large. The atmosphere is elegant with lowlighting bringing on that fancy vibe. Bathrooms are nice and smell AMAZING. This is a GREAT place for birthdays, work dinners, family visits, or any other special occasions. Warning- its freezing inside so I'd recommend wearing or bringing a jacket/sweater

Solid 4 stars. Parking is plentiful since this is at the old University Mall. There entrance is beautiful...as soon as you walk in, you see an immaculate bar and an impressive wine "cellar". We had a group of 12 for an office Christmas lunch. We had to sit at two separate tables but while it wasn't ideal, it was still fine. We had a reservation for noon and while we were seated by then, it still took over two hours. I'm not sure if that's normal but it felt like it took longer than usual. The waitstaff was great. They were knowledgeable and helpful. We ordered the steak bites and spinach dip as table appetizers. Both were good. I got the ribeye with the Mac and cheese. My boss was paying but while my ribeye was AMAZING, at $47...I thought it was a bit over priced. All sides are a la carte...I wish I would have got the lobster bisque. Several people at my table got the sweet potato casserole and they loved it. But let me tell you about the carrot cake. If you even remotely like carrot cake, get this. The piece is GINORMOUS. Seriously enough for 4 people. It was delicious and epic and my favorite thing from this lunch. I'm definitely interested in coming back and trying their sandwiches since I probably won't want to pay for a steak.

Service was slow but the food was outstanding! I would highly recommend adding the salad to your entree. It was fresh and crisp! Steak was cooked to perfection and potato was light and fluffy. Very good date night spot.

My husband and I picked this place because it was in walking distance of the Silverspot Cinema. They offer a wonderful brunch on Sunday's which was a win for us. Our server Ciani was amazing and provided excellent recommendations to highlight their brunch cocktails and food selections. This place was a pleasant surprise in offering French pressed coffee from Hubbard and Craven! The food portions are plentiful so perfect for sharing. We ordered the lobster avocado toast and filet with eggs. We will definitely be back to try their dinner menu. This place was perfect for "Brunch and movie date"!

I remember going here and they served a little round poppy seed type bread . do they still? what is it called ? they were amazinggggggggggggggggggggg !

Don't know their name. I was there just last night and they still bring them to the table. Delicious as always

    Is there a dress code?

I have dined at Stoney River Steakhouse on two occasions, dressed business casual. I can state from my observations, that while I did observe a segment that was dress formal, it was clearly the minority.

Would it be ok to come here with a 1 year old who is almost always well behaved in restaurants? We would come on the early side (like 5:00pm) and would take her out if she got fussy.

Yes. It's a nice restaurant but the atmosphere would be ok for a round baby

What type of oil does the kitchen cook with? Any soy?

    Not sure sorry

The shrimp was great but didn't care for the sweet chill sauce with the calamari, it was missing something, not your standard sweet chill sauce. The cream spinach was excellent, pass on the scalloped potatoes. Ended with the banana pudding and creme brûlée, both were great! The cocktails were also really good and flavorful. While that spot didn't wow us with its limited menu, Bin 54 absolutely delivered. We made a reservation literally five minutes before walking in, and they accommodated us right away. My boyfriend ordered the bone-in ribeye and couldn't stop raving about it. I had the filet mignon, which was cooked exactly to my liking and melted in my mouth. For sides, we shared the scalloped potatoes and creamed spinach -- both rich, comforting, and generously portioned. We ended the night with the banana pudding, and it was phenomenal -- easily one of the best we've had. Decadent, nostalgic, and beautifully presented. Bin 54 turned our last-minute change of plans into a truly memorable night. We'll definitely be back.

The Farmhouse is about as authentic as one could hope for in this modern world of constant attention grabbing media and technology driven algorithms. No app to order, no QR codes, the lighting is dimmed to create a chill setting, and it was a welcome change from the bright lights and inauthentic greetings from walking in to many modern restaurants. You walk in, wait for the one cashier/host to work down the line of guests both checking out as well as requesting a table, and sit on the log bench to await your server. The walls are adorned with historic characters of nearby UNC, along with antiques and many of the hosts and servers are chatting with locals that they have obviously known for years... maybe decades. We were there on the Saturday before Father's Day, so maybe the dining area was extra busy, but we waited no more than 5 or 10 minutes for a table to open up and we were seated. Very quickly, our server brought a plate of liver pate, a soft cheese spread, surrounded by some fresh cut veggies, and another basket of assorted crackers. The pate was a bit salty, but paired well with the veggies, and the cheese was... well, cheese. We decided to split the bigger ribeye (12oz) and the server said they would go ahead and cut it in half and serve on two plates. We had an extra salad ordered and opted for a loaded baked potato. Pretty standard fare for a classic steakhouse. No fru-fru dressings for the salad, just your standard ranch, bleu cheese, Italian, French, or Thousand Island. Back where the kitchen was located there stood the head steak chef, busily moving the cuts along the grill and transferring them to cast iron skillets as the serving plate (VERY hot... use caution with errant fingers and forearms). The potato was piping hot... literal hot potato. The server added two generous bowls of butter and sour cream to make the potato our own, and the crispy (though fake) bacon bits added some crunch and saltiness to the mix. I dolloped some of that cheese spread from earlier for a bit of a mix and it was perfect. The steaks were cooked perfectly, and the only thing I could think of that would improve them would be using some of that excellent butter on the grill while cooking. The flavor was good but just needed a bit more... umami. We added a side of horseradish to punch up the flavor and it was a perfect addition. All in all, an excellent and romantic change of pace that I was very happy to have experienced.

I decided to start with the Cheese Plate, which included 3 different cheeses, buttered baguette slices, jam, mustard, and pickles. I enjoy cheese plates, and this one was great, but I can understand it may not be for everyone. My wife ordered the Red Fish, which had a more Southeast Asian-inspired twist to it. It came over rice and pickled onions and beets, and the flavors were a blend of lemongrass and coconut. The fish was cooked well - nice and tender, not too dry - and the flavors went well together. I ordered the New York Strip, which was delicious - the meat was well cooked, had great flavor, and was a generous portion that was very filling. The only gripe I had was that the char on the eggplant overwhelmed the flavor, so most of what I ate tasted like burnt eggplant. The place is clean and fairly laid back for a more upscale restaurant. The star of the show in my opinion were the hush puppies and the corn and wild mushroom risotto. There were sooo many different flavors that perfectly complemented each other. I was blown away. And the pig cheek on top was incredible. 500/10. Our server made great recommendations! Then-- chaos and heartbreak ensued in the form of a fire alarm. We were forced to evacuate the restaurant as the fire department arrived , leaving about half our meal on the table. After 30 or so minutes of waiting out in the cold (we were apparently the only guests who hadn't paid out yet) our server came to find us. He asked us if we wanted to just give him our credit card information and he would ring us up later, when the fire department gave them the ok, as he understood not wanting to wait around. It broke our heart to leave our leftovers, but we agreed and went to go get the car. Thankfully we are stubborn.. and optimistic to a fault. And by the third time we circled around the block, the fire truck was pulling away. I ran in and asked if there was any chance our food hadn't been thrown away yet, and it hadn't! The staff was happy we had been able to come back, and they packed everything up for us, even taking the hush puppies off the bill and sneaking in a complimentary piece of key lime pie. I'm so glad we were able to tip our server appropriately for his great service-- and rescue our leftovers. Happy ending. All was well. (And the fire ended up being something innocuous in the unit above the restaurant)

We were told that we could order something else, but that the steaks would remain on the bill because quote "the manager feels these are quality cuts of meat". So, there was no effort to accommodate us, the customer. No offer of remaking the meal, no nothing. Instead, we were treated like we were trying to get a free meal, when we clearly wanted to try another menu item. We were trying to salvage our Valentine's meal and instead we left after less than 45mins with a $200+ bill and a pair of rubbery steaks we still cannot eat. I sincerely hope the management can see this is clearly not how you gain and keep customers. We were eager to recommend Tandem to friends, at this point we will not.

Oakleaf took me by surprise. I'm not usually someone who goes for New American, but this…read morefarm-to-table restaurant completely won me over. It's perfect for a special night out. The space has a slightly dim, intimate feel with dark red walls and thoughtful details--even the plates feel intentional. The food is the real star. We had the tasting menu, and everything was absolutely delectable, aside from the duck (purely personal preference). I sincerely appreciate the choice of vegetarian, vegan, or omnivore options for the tasting menu -- that's quite special. You somewhat go in blind as to what you'll be served, which I really appreciate. For the omnivore tasting menu, there was a lot of seafood used, which I loved. The ingredients were married together well in each item. The price felt well worth it for the experience. They also offer a wine pairing for those interested. I'll definitely be coming back. And despite being in Chapel Hill, it has ample parking that makes it easy to access.

The space is modern and elegant but still cozy, with soft lighting, subtle earth tones, and an open layout that balances intimacy and energy. Service was outstanding from start to finish, attentive, informed, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. Let's get into the food, because this was one of the most exciting and consistently excellent meals we've had in a long time. We started with They Might Be Tostones, a clever and beautifully layered dish with Murasaki sweet potato, lime-pimentón crema, and chili crisp. It was punchy, bright, and balanced. The Warm Rustic Baguette with whipped butter and sea salt may seem simple, but it was divine, crusty on the outside, soft on the inside, and perfect for lingering. Dirt Candy, a medley of seasonal vegetables with toasted pistachio ail lade, was vibrant and thoughtfully composed. The Big Eye Tuna Carpaccio with red miso-citrus bagna cauda and delicate shoots was fresh and refined, with a perfect acidity and richness. We moved on to heartier plates like the Ricotta Gnocchi with Italian sausage, peppers, whipped ricotta, broccoli rabe, and chili flake. The gnocchi were pillowy and deeply flavorful. The Kabocha Squash & Farro with lump crab, pancetta, and miso butter was savory, slightly sweet, and full of texture. The Pan Roast with flounder, mussels, fregula, and smoky shellfish sugo was bold and briny, with layers of flavor in every bite. Two pasta dishes also stood out, the Ravioli di Manzo with Barolo-braised beef and Parmigiano was rich and comforting, while the Plin Piemontese, filled with pasture-raised pork and finished in crema di parmigiano, was elegant and silky. For dessert, we shared all three options and each one brought something different. The Citrus plate with steamed lemon pudding and lemon curd was light, tart, and texturally playful. The Cheesecake with maple mascarpone and cranberry compote was creamy, nutty, and not overly sweet. But the star was the Chocolate Fondant, extra dark, gooey, with salted caramel gelato and hazelnut crumble. An absolutely unforgettable finish. OakLeaf is a standout. Every dish felt thoughtful, seasonal, and beautifully executed. We will absolutely be back.

Even a month ahead of time, so good luck). But don't let it stop you if you don't have reservations, just be smart. We've learned to arrive when they open, because the bar and the high-tops in the bar area are all first-come first serve. There are times we've had just drinks and an appetizer/rolls or dessert. Other times we've gone for a full meal. Most recent visit was Saturday before an 8pm show at DPAC, and I heard words that I've never heard before that made me love them even more. "We will hold your leftovers for you until after the show". Uh, big heart for me! And smart for them, because we would not have ordered dessert otherwise, and I would have been sad to have had to waste even a bite of my fave, the roast chicken. Husband declared his "wedge" salad and filet to be perfection, and nothing makes him happier than a couple Dirty Durham's, while I can always find a nice glass of wine. We tried the Apple Crisp for dessert along with a couple coffees, and it was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. The Service was also terrific, as always. Always. And sure enough, my leftovers were bagged up and ready and waiting when we got out of the show. Just when I thought they couldn't possibly get better, they did.

I arrived as soon as the doors opened at 4pm on a cold & windy Sunday. Dining at Nana Steak was a last minute decision and I didn't have a reservation. The bar area is first come, first served. The actual bar filled up really quickly, but I was able to grab a 4 top table even though I was a party of 1. Nana Steak has an intimate and welcoming vibe and the service is amazing. Jared was my server and he was the best!! I started with the soup of the day, cream of spinach. The flavor was awesome, and as Jared mentioned, it wasn't a heavy creamy soup, it was light and delicious. For my entree I ordered the 6 oz Filet medium, it was cooked perfectly and had the best flavor. I didn't really need a knife it was so tender. For my side, I chose the potato puree (mashed potatoes) and they were like whipped silk, and seasoned perfectly. I made sure to save room for dessert and I'm so glad I did. The chocolate silk pie complimented my glass of red wine perfectly. I ate every bite. I definitely recommend dining at Nana Steak, make a reservation if you can. I hear the cheeseburger and the rolls are both delicacies, they only make a certain amount a day. Make sure you ask your server about the specials of the day that aren't on the regular menu.
