Kaitlyn was great. We have dined at Nana Steak, Angus Barn, and The Library in Fuquay. The steak we had this evening was on par if not better than all the other restaurants for a much better price. I would love for the sides to be a bit more adventurous- I do love a fried brussel sprout, but what they had was good. The baked potato came loaded, which was nice. I was introduced to Metro8 through a company dinner, and was immediately blown away with how delicious their appetizers were (chorizo, cheese, empanadas). What was even more surprising was also how juicy and flavorful their steaks were!! I have now gone multiple times, especially when I want to have a churrasco cooked the right Argentinian way, with the chimichurri sauce and sweet potato fries. It's super helpful that you can make reservations online, and it seems like most people have reservations when dining here. One odd thing was that we originally had a reservation for July 3 that got canceled the day of because they were closed that week. That was disappointing, and we only found out via an automated email. So, this August visit was my second reservation attempt, and thankfully no issues. Service was great. The food and drinks were good and reasonably priced. The provoleta appetizer and the chocolate soufflé were my favorites! What a great first experience! We've been wanting to try this place for about 2 years and it did not disappoint! All of the food was SO good. My husband got the salmon and loved it. I got the churrasco everyone raves about it and they do so with good reason! SO delicious. My dad got the lamb chops and said they were "cooked to perfection." The deserts? All three we got were to die for, especially the dulce de leche crepes. I want to go back just for those lol! Our server was attentive and very friendly. The vibe was calm and chill too. Although this is a fancier restaurant, the menu prices seemed pretty reasonable. As someone who doesn't eat much steak, I was happy to see they had chicken, fish, and other non-steak options as well. I ordered the chicken breast with a side of broccolini. I was impressed with the juiciness and tenderness of the chicken - it was not dry at all! It had great flavor but I was most blown away by the texture. The broccolini was also very good. It was crunchy, well seasoned, and not too oily. Overall the meal didn't feel too heavy or greasy and the portions were satisfying. The only complaint I have is that the food took quite a while to come out, but aside from that this was an amazing, high end dining experience! This spot has a cool ambiance! I went in as soon as it opened. I opted for dine in instead of the patio due to it being sooo hot outside. The inside gives me "rustic elegance" as the music whistles over the guests chatters. The service was spot on! Our waitress checked up on us at perfect timing and even (someone who looked like the manager) stopped by frequently, refilling our drinks. The menu options are small and it didn't help that they're out of shrimp due to COVID. I was told the stuffed shrimp is amazing . For starters I had both the empanadas and the chorizo. The empanadas comes with with and they're very large. It was very flavorful however I wish it came with a sauce. I also had the chorizo for an app. It's one sausage sliced up for you. Although it was appealing to the taste buds, the presentation could use a little something more; just one sausage is a little bland to the eye. For the entrée, I had the lobster ravioli with sautéed broccolini. This was good, needed some extra salt to bring out the flavor in the sauce and pasta but it was indeed delicious. My guest had a HUGE NY strip with beautiful grill marks and a heaping bounty of fries. For the miscellanies, parking is ok. Both were good - but the empanadas were AMAZING! The main courses we ate were the Churrasco and the Salmon with sides of broccolini, asparagus, and sweet potato fries. I can't tell you which dish was better but they were all very very good! Flavor was superb and food was cooked perfectly. We finished the meal off with a chocolate soufflé, key lime pie, and dulce de leche crepes. The crepes are a MUST HAVE! I wished I had enough of an appetite for 10 of those! This is a cool, quaint family owned steakhouse with an Argentinian flare. The wife is the bartender/hostess/ manager and she is honestly one of the sweetest, engaging people I've met. You can tell she truly loves her resturant and welcomes all her guest with a neighborly warmth. Her husband is the chef and makes one serious Churrasco steak ! Order it medium rare use the criollo sauce with it and thank me later it's AMAZING! The spinach Alfredo was also very good it's a riff on creamed spinach which was enjoyable. I had a few old fashioned's and they were ok a little to sweet for my taste but I'm a whiskey and cocktail nerd so i may be judging a little too critically. The key like pie was also tasty! I'll start by saying that I don't disagree with the many posts very favorable to Metro8. I'm choosing to believe that "local knowledge" would have prevented the unfortunate outcome and will know better what to order should i return. I was hosting dinner for four tonight and two of the dinners (steaks) had to be returned. One dinner was mine and the other one of my guests. They were woefully undercooked. Seriously undercooked. I cannot remember the last time I returned anything while dining out. I think maybe one other time in my life I may have. Unfortunately when the refired steaks returned they were predictably overcooked lacking any taste. The spinach alfredo was unlike any I had ever seen before. Their take on it is a few overcooked and limp spinach leaves accompanied by some runny sauce. Not sure if it's meant to be served room temperature but it was inedible. I'm happy to report that my other two guests were pleased with their selections. The others had steaks as well along with a Cesar Salad and artichoke dip to start. The dip was quite good. The staff was inviting and attentive and handled our unfortunate meals with grace. The restaurant was attractive and quite clean. I'll probably return at some point. But next time I'll make my preparation expectations a little more clear. read more

Definitely recommend the filet mignon. One of the best that I've ever had. Churrizo was great as well with a big portion, but preferred the filet mignon. The vegetables on the side were marvelous, which I wasn't expecting since a lot of places don't get those right. The tiramisu was great, but I haven't been to many Italian places that don't do those well. Food however had no taste. We aren't picky but I can say for the price it was one of the worst meals we have had. The asparagus seemed to simply be boiled. Even adding salt didn't help. They've recently moved to a new location on Broad Street with easy access to parking and a more elegant atmosphere. They have a beautiful bar and plenty of well-spread-out seating, as well as a private dining room. The chef/owner is from Argentina, and has some signature dishes you won't find anywhere else. The service is fast and waitstaff very friendly. The cocktails, food, and desserts were all excellent and memorable. I had the salmon with broccolini. My husband and our dinner guests had the Churrasco steak, which is their signature dish. All were fabulous and cooked to perfection. Metro 8 is a very cozy little steakhouse with a warm feel. There is plenty of space between tables for your romantic conversations. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is on point. Very friendly bartender and staff. The only think I didn't care for was the Italian dressing with herbs and spices "Chimichurri" sauce. Authentic chimichurri would compliment their churrasco steak much better. Be sure to get there at a reasonable time in order to find a parking space. Metro 8 was recommended by a colleague after reviewing it here. Yelp reviews said it was the #3 steakhouse in Durham, after Angus Barn (#1) and Nana Steak (#2). I'm from the Chicagoland area where steakhouses are plentiful, well-known and extremely good. In my opinion, Angus Barn is hugely over rated and high priced for the quality and service. Nana Steak is difficult, at best to get into, so I've yet to try it or hear negative comments beyond that. Metro 8, in my opinion, of the Durham steakhouses I've eaten at is the BEST! Service is phenomenal. The staff is well versed with the menu and very personable. The quality of the food and drinks are worth every penny you will pay (which isnt expensive). Ambiance is perfect! You can hear those at the table clearly without shouting over music or other restaurant noise. I had the Cowboy Ribeye with the loaded baked potato. I will be eating these for two more days! It was a lot of food. I also had the Provelenta appetizer. This was like having a crustless cheese pizza. So yummy! We didn't save room for dessert, but if it's anything like the app and entrees, you will not be disappointed. If you are looking for the Best Steakhouse in Durham, I highly recommend Metro 8! My Medium-Rare was close to medium, barely red and no blood. Couldn't uncook. Separately, the steak was barely upscale steakhouse quality/taste/moist. Above a standard restaurant, low for an expense account level steakhouse. May return, but will try another in that area first. Ordered a chocolate souffle to share, which came out as a doughy brownie. No airy souffle, though tasted good. A flourless chocolate cake or a moist brownie with IC would be better. The last time I was here was in 2008 and I came away full and happy. This week was the same case when I brought my in-laws here for a nice dinner. There was only one other group eating at the restaurant when we arrived Tuesday night at 8pm for dinner, so our waitress was super attentive. The bread came out with jalapeno cream cheese dip that was flavorful and not too spicy, and we devoured it. Among the 4 of us, we ordered the following: Churrasco 16 oz skirt steak ($25). This was my favorite beef entree of the night. The meat was very flavorful and lean. Cowboy Rib-Eye 32 oz ($39). This piece of meat was as big as my face...we had a lot of this leftover because the serving was so big! It was thick and also not too fatty--not as flavorful as the Churrasco, but comes with a side dipping sauce. My father-in-law was very happy with this dish. Pork chop with apple sauce ($22). I was very impressed by the pork chop, which wasn't tough/chewy/dry like other pork chops I've tried elsewhere. It was very tender and paired well with the apple sauce. Lobster ravioli with pink sauce ($19). This entree comes with about 8-10 large ravioli stuffed with fresh shredded lobster. I dipped all my bread in the creamy pink sauce. For sides, we ordered sweet potato fries, baked potato, and broccolini. I had ordered the broccolini side in 2008 and remembered how much I liked it. Broccolini is a hybrid of broccoli and Chinese chard and it has hints of broccoli and asparagus flavor. The sweet potato fries were crispy on the outside, and the baked potato was loaded with cheese, sour cream, and bacon. The menu is pricey so I only come for special occasions, but their food quality and portions makes it well worth the splurge! read more

First time here. Arrived for a 5:30 reservation. Basically empty restaurant at this time. Maybe two other tables seated. We had cocktails first then ordered dinner and wine. Two in the party ordered house salads butternut squash soup- to be served as meal (but it was served early )delicious and hot! The guys ordered filet and baked potatoes. Finally after checking a couple of times and over an hour later the steaks and potato arrives. Steak was ok- but warm at best and no juice! Potato was good but again not hot (barely warm) at all! I will give this restaurant a second try- but if food is merely warm at best next time....we won't be back.
