I absolutly love pizza and this place makes an excellent pie. I had the bbq chicken pizza and chocolate mousse pie. The mousse was very smooth and the crust nice and firm. The onions on the pizza were carmalized well and there was just enough bbq on the pizza to not be overwhelming. The restaurant is clean and well maintained and they have other good options as well. The others I ate with had fetaccini alfredo and bacon chesseburger. They said there food was excellent with no complaints as well. read more

The only tiff I have with this salad, is that its a $9 salad with no protein in it. While it can be added, it feels like a steep price to pay for the meal in its entirety. The blu cheese chips, a once delicious side was dripping with grease and looked like vomit when sat in front of us (after forgetting to make them in the first place) The guy working was nice but they were goofing around and not paying attention to customers. I haven't eaten here in a while just because I'm never that way, but my daughter chose it for the milkshake. It's been redone and updated since I was there last, so it looks better. I had a simple cheese pizza and it was truly delicious. It made me realize how long it's been since I had a good pizza! My daughter had chicken strips with fries, and they were also good. The milkshake was huge and yummy. I love their ice - it's the small chewy pieces, and there is something about their drinks that are extra good - a lot of carbonation maybe. I enjoy eating at The Loop several times a month and they never disappoint. The Asian chicken wrap is excellent with a side of tomato bisque soup and crusty bread. Very nice renovation lately (see my pix) which has freshened up the decor making it more modern. Jason and his Clueless staff have really drove this place to the ground with TO GO orders. The Manager Jason will run you back and forth with oversights made by his staff from wrong lettuce... staff will say bring it back... then get the right lettuce and the wrong dressing is inside.. all while it's super raining outside! Also ordered salads for catering event and the lettuce was brown as a paper bag and old!! How embarrassing!! I should have given them only one star, but the food is good so I'm being charitable. Here's my last experience: A while ago I'm in a hurry so I call in my order ahead of time cause the lines here can be lengthy and are especially long during the lunch rush. I get the carry out order and am on my way out when my wife and I realize that we're actually fine on time so we decide to sit and dine in. With our carry out. Unusual yes, but there's no table service anyway so who cares. We've hardly started to unpack the bag when Ms. Manager comes charging at us from the kitchen. She was *furious*! Berates us in front of all the people gawking from the aforementioned line and tells us to go. She was somewhere between scolding and yelling, and hovers over us with her hands on her hips as we fumble to pack back up and scram as quickly as we can. It's at this point that my wife realizes the whole line is watching this go down and she literally runs out of the restaurant as fast as she can. We would have left if they had politely asked and I even think their policy of no eating in with carry out makes sense (it can be hard to find a table). But good lord, this manager made a huge scene and was just out to embarrass us. Fail. read more

I work nearby and it can be difficult to find fast, healthy options in the area. There are two items I've found at the Loop and end up eating here once or twice a week. I usually go between 12:30 - 1 pm and there is usually a line -- but I have found that it moves very quickly and that I typically get to order in less than 5 minutes of arriving. And the two things I order are: (1) Artichoke & roasted red pepper pizza (indy sized) which is listed at 467 calories. But I think that is 'per serving', not for the whole pizza. So not super-low cal, but a 900-calorie pizza isn't the worst thing you could eat. And it is delicious! With just the right amount of spice to give it a little kick. The pizza and a diet soda is $10.60. (2) Cajun Fish Wrap which is listed at under 100 calories. Again, I think they're fudging it 'per serving' but it is still quite healthy however you size it up. And instead of the chips, I'll sometimes substitute a house salad with italian dressing on the side. It would be ~$10 with the standard sideand a drink... swapping in a salad raises it to ~$13. Also, if you go there often, you may not be aware but there is a 'Loop Loyalty' card... once you get 8 punches, you get $6 off your next order. read more

I've been to this place maybe 100 times. It's close to where I live. Yelp's definition of the two star rating is for "meh, I've experienced better." That's an appropriate label for The Loop. I just returned the other night for a simple dinner. The salads are always fine and with good value. So I returned for a salad and a couple of kids meals for my two lil ones. It seems I've had a bad streak of dining out lately. I seem to be attracting restaurants who lose my tickets and servers and managers who act like real dee-bags. The Loop pulled that one off for me just the other day. As I said, I've eaten there a lot. I remember the good old days when this amazing dude named Spencer used to manage it. This place had a difference. It had an advantage over other options around town. But, what, a decade later, people like Spencer move on for stardom and they get replaced and their replacements act like dbags to a customer like me. Srsly. All kids meals come with a side. Except the kids pizza, which comes with two toppings. So I apparently have the utter dastardly nerve to ask if I could have a side instead of the two toppings. My kid doesn't like any toppings on his pizza; they'd charge $2 for two toppings; and the side I wanted for him was $2. Seems like a mild request. A request I issued mildly. Well here's how it goes. The Mexican guy at the register doesn't answer me but slowly turns to the American white girl who is clearly younger and less intelligent than the guy at the register but I guess they make it known to the Mexicans there that they rank below the white people. Anyway, he turns to her, and she takes one brief look at me and gets all huffy and weird instantly and says, "with the pizza the sides aren't free but the toppings are." I said, "it's of equal value and i just want to give the kid a little fruit." Meanwhile the replacement of the replacement for their great management staff slinks up behind her making it look like he has her back, hands on hips, looking at me. She follows up by saying, "well that's the rule." Like there's some friggin' law book. This 20 year old girl thinks I'm actually to believe such 90-IQ-elementary-school-teacher-logic. That is some serious suckitude right there. Everyone chill out. Getting hostile to a customer for a simple request is bizarre-o. Substitution of equal value is an everyday sort of request at restaurants. I walked away, we ate. The meal was OK. Then I Yelped this. Because I want you to know. Now I have to say this encounter was perhaps the only negative one I recall in all the years of eating there. However what it elicited was that the only changes to this place over the years are negative. This place had an advantage to others. But it focused on making itself franchise-y and brand-y rather than the dining place with an advantage. And because of that, it gets two stars. Competition in the Triangle is tight. It moves quickly. A long time ago, when I lived in a nearby Sunstone apartment, I would go here about once a week or so. It was quick, relatively healthyish, and consistent. Recently I found myself wanting to revist the place. The menu is brighter and easier to read than i remember, the service was about the same, but the food is not. Their pizzas used to be crisp and tasty, now the crust has the consistency of a microwave pizza crust - chewy and doughy. Speaking of doughy, what is going on with the calimari? They look like beignets and were almost as fluffy. To top it off, the brocolli salad came out 'without' brocolli! Woops! They did add brocolli after the fact when asked. If you are in a rush and over this way, there are other choices. Evos, Wholefoods bar. If you aren't in a rush, you have many more options. Pretty good food, especially the pizzas and salads. If you like BBQ chicken pizza, try theirs - it's really good. The pizzas aren't huge - I'd say two people could split one for a full meal. The salads, on the other hand, are ginormous. Sandwiches and burgers are fine, but pretty average. Best things on the menu: the tomato bisque soup, which is a meal in itself because it's so creamy and is insanely good and surprising at a place like this -- and also the milkshakes, which are hands-down, the best in town. Not a ton of flavor choices, but they have Oreo and the usual favorites. Trust me, if you are craving a traditional milkshake, go here and treat yourself. The atmosphere isn't great. During busy times, which is every evening and all day on the weekends, it is insanely crowded and loud. You wait in line to order and then find your table, so it can be a free-for-all, especially if you try to come here with a big group. The booths are really comfy.... if you can get one. I recommend getting it to go. There's a separate, much shorter line (off to the left) for to-go orders. Okay, it's more like 3.5 stars for me. Here's the backstory: We've been here several times. Once with my parents, once by myself ordering for the wife, and once with an infant in tow when storms knocked down the power grid on our street. Each time, we seem to be drawn to their salad offerings and the big honking rings of onion they serve up here which (so far) are the highlights of eating here. If you're ordering any of their sandwich/burger offerings, you get a choice of sides - fries, handmade chips, steamed veggies, cole slaw, fresh fruit or onion rings. Do yourself a favor and get the o' rings. I'm kind of addicted to them. Honestly, these fried bulbous offerings kind of remind me of those huge dayglow bracelets you'd find in some bad 80's movie, but don't let that deter you from enjoying their crunchy, savory goodness. The fries on the other hand tend to be of the "steak cut" variety which I'm not a huge fan of. They just remind me of mushy home fries. As for the main courses, we've zero'd in on their solid grilled fish sandwich which was great the first time albeit a bit salty, then lackluster the next even though still just as tasty. Salads are pretty damn solid, IMHO. the Crispy Chicken and the Greek salads are always winners in my book. Unfortunately, we haven't tried their pizza yet. The crispy chicken was uber-delicious....almost reminiscent of the Sunrise Biscuit version, but a bit drier in consistency. As for their much touted milkshakes...unfortunately, we weren't huge fans when we tried their mint oreo cookie milkshake. I just found the consistency a tad bit watery for my tastes and really wanted something a bit on the thicker side. Taste was there, just not my type of milkshake. I'm more a fan of the thick types you'd get at Beck's Prime back in Houston....rich and creamy chock full of items like oreos or strawberries. This was a fine pureed, watery version I didn't care much for. For ambience, it does get a bit loud with echoes reverberating all over when their full-on crowded. So you might want to pass or go later/earlier if you've got a sleeping infant. Otherwise, it looks to be great for older or wide awake babies/kids. Even if they fuss over the loud hum of people talking, you'll be hard pressed to offend anyone there! So...overall, a 3.5 star venture....good solid eats - you can't go wrong with the fried stuff, but vegetarians and salad lovers need not despair. Good overall choices, but an average watery milkshake IMHO. FWIW and AFAIK...I don't think they have free wifi. Bummer for us smart phone challenged peeps. read more

The Loop is busy place for the lunch and dinner crowds. Order your meal at the counter and they'll page you when it's ready. I ordered their Grilled Vegetables with Couscous Salad. It was very good, large size croutons with a nice vinaigrette that just right. The serving size was ample, enough to take home for leftovers. One of my friends ordered an individual traditional pizza, which was just enough for one person. My other friend ordered the Veggie Melt Ciabatta sandwich. It was served open faced and she said it was very good. The Loop is a popular place with a friendly staff. read more

It's a pretty big space once you go inside-- it would be a good spot for a medium sized group. They have great pizza-- I love to get the individual cheese pizza with the walnut gorgonzola salad-- the salad rocks the bells! Want a good thin-crust pizza after a long day of shopping? Loop's a great place to stop. There's enough seating space for a small army (if you have one of those you need to feed), and a good roster of pizza options. Being boring, I had a simple cheese pizza and an Oreo milkshake, while my family ordered a meat pizza and a classic burger (sans cheese). The food was done in a reasonable amount of time, and one of the employees even helped me get the trays to our table--seeing as I'm not quite Hollywood waitress enough to carry two heavy trays at once. Our Oreo milkshakes were so huge that they practically filled a glass and a half, and had a good ratio of cookie chunks to ice cream. Both my pizza and my brother's were well-cooked, with delish sauce and a tasty crust, although I wouldn't say that they were worth dropping everything to try. Be aware that there isn't table service. You are given one of those little buzzer disk thingies to alert you when your meal is ready, and then you fetch the trays yourself. Silverware, straws, and napkins are all accessible at a bar to the right--they aren't on your table. The employees will clean up your table once you're gone. read more

Loop is a great All-American restaurant and I have been going there over 15 years. They have a large food selection including pizza, burgers, sandwiches, salads, milkshakes, soups, wraps, dessert, and even a kid's menu. Good location, only couples miles from downtown. I like to think of this place as a local's gem. - For food, the portions are about average. The size of the salads are pretty big, but the burgers and pizza are about what you would expect. I am a big fan of their milkshakes but not quite a large of options as Cook-out. Most of the items on the menu are $8-12, so pretty affordable. The lunch and dinner menus are the same. It is average greasy from an American restaurant. The food is tasty, served quick, and a good atmosphere. - This place is very family friendly. The service is good. Although this is a sit down restaurant, you do not have a server. I probably wouldn't take a date here, but is great for going with friends or family. You order your food, get a ticket, and when they call your number, you pick it up. - They do offer takeout, but I have never done it. I think you get all the same sizes and same quality. It can be handy if you crave the Loop and are on a tight time table. - One thing that can be challenging is that when it gets full, it can be hard to find a place to sit. You may have to stand and wait as there are finite number of seats (first come first serve). You cannot make a reservation or call ahead. - They do not serve alcohol, so if you are looking for a cold one with your dinner, keep looking. - They do have a few TVs if you want to catch a local game during dinner. - Parking is not an issue. They have a large parking lot shared by next door venues. Since you can park close and it's free, it's a bonus compared to downtown. I mostly decided to eat here because I had heard the salads were delicious but was underwhelmed to say the least. The salads, although large, were pretty ordinary, lacked color and seemed to be more cafeteria style. The light honey mustard tasted really off. But where I failed at finding a salad I could really enjoy I did find other things on the item that I have gone back for. The portabello mushroom sandwich is really great. It looks like a hamburger and is pretty filling considering we're talking mushrooms here. The mayo sauce that comes on the side has a nice little kick and honestly for once I never thought about using ketchup. The onion rings are made the way I like them. Not oozing in grease and floppy like at Carolina Brewery but crisp and easy to manage. The chicken salad wrap was very satisfying as well. It's large and not overly mayonaissed that you feel disgusting after wards. It comes with a bowl of soup. I asked for the soup of the day and it really looked like the tomato bisque with some corn thrown in which is their regular every day soup. There is quite a bit that I haven't tried, like the pizza, but I liked this place enough to go back and experiment. Wish I could give a 4 but the salads were just so ordinary. read more

I'm not really sure what they put in their pizza, but they should never stop. I originally had a pizza from The Loop while working a charity event in Chapel Hill. I thought I might have been in love with the slices I got because by the time I got free to do some eating, I probably could have eaten the box and called it my best lunch ever. Still, I decided to take a trip to the Loop itself. The inside was a zoo. Upon asking, I was informed that it is indeed "always like this" by a woman who took time to chat with me in between yelling at her kids to settle down (I think her kids were totally being egged on by some of the other kids there...and there were plenty of them). By the time I got my pizza, I was sure I'd never be back. But then there it was, some kind of extra flavor (is it a spice they throw on? something they do to the tomato sauce? normally I'm good at picking this out) that I just don't get out of any other pizza joint around here. So you know what I do now? Call ahead. Fight through the crowd. Pick up the pie. Enjoy it somewhere else. read more

In high school, we'd come here at midnight after football games as a band tradition. A lot of ppl say there are issues with long lines, and I agree. If only I could have used my senior privileges to cut in line.... I like the food, and it's worth the wait (if the wait is less than 30 minutes XD). One of my favorite restaurants in the Triangle. I love the grilled fish sandwich and the Loop's awesome streak fries. Actually, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu -- from their burgers to their pizzas to their milkshakes, it's all really good. The Chapel Hill location in Eastgate has become my Loop location of choice following the closing of the location in Cary on Hwy 55 and High House in 2012 (or maybe 2011). I was really bummed when that one closed, but fortunately the Eastgate location is less than 20 minutes away for me. read more

I've been eating here for many years (10+) and in the past I would have given it five stars, however during the past couple of years the maintenance and cleaning have fallen badly. The bathroom very dirty looking, the walls throughout the restaurant are stained and very dirty, and many of the seats have vinyl that is literally wearing through. On the positive side, I still like eating their Salmon sandwich with fries and the cost is reasonable. Living only about a mile from the The Loop, we'll occasionally order take-out and again it's a mixed bag. It seems that no matter how I try and work the order, such as paying ahead by credit card, it always ends up that I have to stand and wait five minutes while they get the order together. Usually it's not that you're waiting for the food to be prepared, rather, the staff simply hasn't put it into a take-out paper bag and so then you have to wait while they deal with other customers at the counter as you can see your food sitting there getting cold. All of the problems I describe are indicative of a huge lapse on the part of management. It strikes me as a situation where there is some remote financial backer (owner?) who never checks on their investment while the on-site staff let things slide down, down, down. I hope they find a way to revitalize this place because, as noted above, I do like the food, but the conditions are becoming intolerable. read more

The pizzas here are very workable, especially in a pizza society where everything is gourmet and new-agey and these guys go very much for traditional style pizzas that any Little Caesar's lover can get on board with. Do you like pepperoni? Guess what: They have it. The location, unfortunately, is terrible. Even when I lived just a couple blocks away I hated dealing with all the Eastgate traffic and parking. Why would I want to do that to myself? Also, the prices aren't great... Drop everything by $1.25 and we can talk. It's a very loud restaurant, between the shouting in the kitchen and the veritable swarm of small children that seem to live in the walls.
