We really enjoyed our visit to Queen Burger while in town for a Duke football game. It's in the cutest little part of town and I love that it's fast casual with a very simple menu. The space is a little tight but they do have outdoor seating which worked perfectly for our group. I also loved that they served cocktails in to go cups. The food was outstanding - a melty, crispy edged smash burger with a side of cheese tots, yum! We also got the chicken tenders and fries for our daughter and the bites I tried were delicious. We came here on a early Friday evening before a show a DPAC. Luckily we got there early enough to snag a table by the window so we could people watch. We both had a classic burger (him with no pickles, me with no special sauce), shared an order of fries, he had an IPA and I got a blackberry mojito for about $40. The good: The fries were amazing (shoestring fries are my favorite)! The amount of pickles they put on it were phenomenal! The drinks we awesome and the vibe was outstanding. The employees were friendly and helpful. And I feel like everything was priced well and appropriately. The not so good: The meat was just meh and the onions were straight up burnt. Not caramelized, burnt. Overall, the burger was decent, just not great like we were hoping. We sat at our table for quite some time and had a few drinks. It was busy but never too crowded. The colorful walls is what caught my eye and I decided to eat here. The staff was very friendly. I ordered the Classic Combo but should have ordered the Plain Combo as I don't like onions. I thought I got them all off but they were in between too and made the burger greasy. They did have a peanut butter burger but I didn't like the toppings on that. I liked that the meat was larger than the roll. I loved the fries. They were very thin and I didn't expect to like the fries as much as I did but they were my favorite part of the meal as they were cooked to perfection. You can get sea salt fries or spicy fries. Besides burgers they have chicken fingers too. I liked the self-serve station for condiments and drinks. QueenBurger is on the smaller side with some tables inside and outdoor seating on the sidewalk. These folks are hustling. There was a line and they are smashing away on the flat top just as fast as they can! I had the classic burger. The hoop cheese was nice and melts. The dill pickles had good crunch. Will say the burger is all crust with nothing tender but was still a tasty bite. My husband asked for no onion and they made it perfectly and marked it on the foil. I loved the shoestring fries. Few places have these any more and they were so tasty. We were there on Thursday and got the last 2 seats at the bar. It's a fairly simple spot--nice inside, clean, and located near the baseball stadium in a historic part of Durham. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. But honestly, the main highlight was the burger. They're the "smashburger" style, and they're legit! I got everything on it, plus a side of cheesy fried (I know--so bad!), but man, so good. I recommend getting the cheese sauce on the side of the fries. It had great flavor, but the cheese just sort of ran straight through. Still, we somehow managed to scrape the cheese off the bottom of the cardboard tray. It's fast casual with tasty burgers and GF buns for those of you who can't consume wheat. It might be more gluten-free than gluten-free if you're celiac. QueenBurger has been on my list for a while and I kept forgetting about it. Made it this evening before a DPAC show. The inside is small but a decent amount of seating even at the bar. There is a decent amount of outside seating, which we enjoyed. The menu is short, but it allows them to make those items really well. I got the PBJ burger... branch out. Surprisingly delicious with a hint of peanut butter flavor and good strawberry bacon jam. The fries like string fries - thin and cooked just at crunchy. The tater tots were good as well. Easily one of the best and most reliable greasy burger spots in Durham. I'm not a big fan of the smashed burger style, but Queen Burger gets it right. They are also incredibly fast and reliable in terms of service. I've gotten take out here and last time I popped in before catching a show at DPAC and it was exactly what I wanted. A nice tall stacked cheese burger (If you are very hungry make sure to add an extra paddy) and their spicy fries (not actually that spicy) and pickle chips always hit the spot. Queen Burger is a nice American option I the downtown durham area. I got the double smash and regular fries. The fries are shoestring fries are were pretty good thin, crunchy and lightly salted. For 8.50 the double smash was fairly bland. I know it doesn't come with extra toppings but without them I feel like it really didn't stand out. If I'd go again I recommend another option or adding some extras to the double smash. read more

I will say the location is nice, located next to the Tobacco Campus and Durham Bulls Stadium. You can take a walk around the area or try some other spots downtown while you're at it. You will have to find street parking as there is no parking lot. They play good music in the restaurant and it is always pretty lively inside every time I pass by. The service was also super quick, and the staff was friendly. There aren't any shakes but they have lemonade, fountain drinks, and beers in the fridge. They have shoestring fries in spicy (just cajun seasoning, not spicy), sea salt, or cheesy. They have a few burger options and you can add a few toppings to it. Okay now back to the burger- I would rate it a 6/10. It was a smash burger with the cheese melted perfectly, but it had no flavor. The patty was not juicy at all and just tasted like a dry thin smashed patty. We all got double burgers and none of us were satisfied. Wow. I had a spicy burger and spicy fries with cheese. Wow. It's good. Really good. My host, Badr, gave me some great recommendations. I drank a freshly squeezed lemonade and was almost done with it before I walked back outside to the frigid weather. (What's the windchill here? #Burr). I asked for some more lemonade and unfortunately, no free refills BUT look on the bright side - I made a new concoction: QB Lemonade, Sprite, Orange Soda (cause welcome to GOOD BURGERs need love too). I didn't eat there, but it seems like a cool spot to relax and eat. I opted to take the food to my Telly and tell it to get in my belly. The cheese fries were great. Both patties of my classic burger were burnt to a crisp only softened up by the amount of grease. The bun smashed and flattened and dripping. Really Gross!!! The fries. Get the fries, spicy if you like that. They came out hot and crispy and are among the better fries in the area. The seasoning bears a strong resemblance to Old Bay with the addition of some extra cayenne and a bit of sugar. The large is very large, enough for 3-4 people easily. Everything else was kind of "meh." The burgers are fine, nothing memorable at all except for maybe how greasy they are. Having the provenance of nearly every ingredient repeatedly pushed at you made it feel a bit like Portlandia redux or the Restaurant at the End of the Universe (IYKYK). If you really like smash burgers, Johnson's in Siler City is much, much better. The room is noisy and crowded and other than a new paint job, hasn't changed much since it's previous incarnation as Only Burger and the staff is polite enough. It's cheaper and better tasting than the DBAP concessions but I don't see coming here unless I'm headed to a Bulls game. read more

Great food! I had the Classic Smash Burger and my husband had the Spicy. We ordered regular fries and the spicy fries, the spicy were our favorite but the regular were great too. My husband is particular with smash burgers... he says "just because you smash a burger doesn't make it a smash burger" but he gave these his approval said they are in fact Smash Burgers. We stopped by on a Sunday around 11:30 so there was plenty of seating both inside and outside.
