One of the best smash burgers I've ever had!!! Love the deluxe patty burger- 2 smash patties, cheese, grilled white onions, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and burger sauce on a Martin's potato roll. (They also have gluten-free buns available!) The buns are always really soft, and the patties are a true smash burger- thin, crispy and caramelized edges, juicy meat. The hand-battered chicken fingers are a close runner-up. The chicken strips are always top quality (no gristle or fat), and are very lightly breaded. Lots of dipping options (11) to choose from, and love the Tendy sauce the most (mix between Canes sauce and Chick-Fil-A sauce). Tater tots always seem to be a little overcooked, and too dry. They're never moist inside and I have started skipping ordering them. Burgers and chicken 10/10, would highly recommend going here! (Make sure to ask for the special burger of the month!)

I was visiting someone in Durham and we decided to get lunch at the food hall and came across this place. I had a burger and cheese bites, burger was a little greasy but it was good and well seasoned. Cheese bites were good as well, we also got a pickle burger and to my surprise it was good as well, i didn't like that was served on a sandwich bread but that's just my preference. Food hall was packed that day but they have a lot of seating available. I will go back to try a different place.

Best burger I've tried in the area so far. My new go to burger spot! Fast and friendly service! Was so nice when he found out it was my first time eating there. Took it to go and burger and fries were still delicious when I got home. Spot is in a larger venue with other food options which is cool. Big open multilevel seating.

We've been to the Durham Food Hall plenty of time but had never tried Patty Boy before. We don't eat as much beef as we used to but took advantage of a discount from a local dining club. We came midweek and the food hall was surprisingly not as packed as other times. A staff member took our orders pleasantly and efficiently, gave us our soft drinks, and then another called out our name when the order was ready. These are smashburgers that are more dry and crispy as opposed to thick and juicy. However, we enjoyed our Frisco Bacon Burger and Bacon Jam Burger since the toppings added flavor and moisture. Tots were good, too. The burgers might be a little pricey for what you get, but still cheaper than many sit-down restaurants.

Email to the owner of my complaint that was never respond to.

Erica not sure is her name was very unprofessional while servicing my tots. She Worked as the cashier on 5/16/26 at 4:27p Saturday evening She called for me to retrieve my tots and went to get my tots. She stood in the back by the cooker with my tots in her hand. I asked do you have a tray for my tots. She paused looking at me then proceeded to asked one of the cookers for a tray. During my transaction asked here or to-go I states for here. That clearly means I would need a tray. I had to ask for my tray. After 1 received the tray I asked can 1 get silverware to eat with and she pointed me to the water fountain to retrieve my silverware. Bad experience. I will reached out another day to speak with a manager. And will NEVER return along with any persons that likes to be treated with good service to Patty's. Update on 6/12/11 Received a dishonest feedback from the"Owner" of Patty yuck boy. "We just spoke with our cashier, and she said that you were giving a lot of attitude and being disrespectful. We don't tolerate that, so we're delighted to hear you will not be coming back." This is a Dishonest and Vaguely response from the company. "Attuide" is the word other ethnic groups used when their trying to dismiss African American people of their complaints which has exposed their covert rascism. Not returning is God protection for me. Me making sure others know of this type of covertism to your customers is my protection of them. Oh and check out other reviews where they do not where gloves which I also seen and having bad customer service before So not just me that has experience that negative climate.

I spent a Saturday in downtown Durham and grabbed lunch at Patty Boy!! I ordered the original Patty by itself, no combo option. The patty's are made to order, and worth the wait. I definitely enjoyed every bite. They are a little messy, but very good. The flavors are like a party in your mouth!! The service was good. It's located near the entrance of Durham Food Hall.

After walking around for a few minutes at the Durham Food Hall, I decided on Patty Boy. The gentleman who helped me was very nice and understanding and worked with me to order the chicken tender meal. The meal originally came with three chicken tenders, slaw, tater tots, and Texas toast. Instead of the Texas toast, I got another slaw. The gentleman told me how the batter for the chicken was made in house daily, so I was so excited! This excitement ended when I saw and tasted the chicken tenders. They were super small and dry, and the batter had no flavor. I thought the saving grace would be the slaw, but this again had no flavor. Surprisingly, it was the tater tots that saved the day, but you can only eat so many. Well, I will have to pass on eating here again--I've had better chicken tenders at Chili's. Three stars for the customer service.

Visited March 15, 2025 Decided to try Patty Boy for the first time during lunch with my mom. It was a pretty busy Saturday at the food hall, but we were able to go right up to the counter and order. I got the fried pickle burger and my mom the deluxe veggie burger. After making our purchase we waited about 10 minutes before the order was ready. The burgers were okay but nothing to rave about. Both burgers we cooked pretty well but we both felt that the burgers were lacking in flavor. The sauces are what brought everything together. However, a good burger should be able to hold its own without the extra toppings. My burger got a little messy at the end because I had more burger and toppings than bun. Lastly, we noticed that they upcharge for everything. Upcharge for sauces, meats for the salad, or substitutions. Sometimes that can be a deterrent. Overall it was okay, but can't say it would be my go to burger joint.

I was hoping I would not be disappointed. Downtown Durham on Parrish Street I do believe. I went there midday and there was a sparse lunch crowd already seated when I arrived. The warmly lit space presents nice aesthetic as you walk into the restaurant. A very chill and comfortable atmosphere. I love the bar and the mirrored wall nestled behind it. The spot is pretty laidback and very clean, but has a bit of a rustic nuance to it as well. I like that. The serving staff were extremely nice and helpful towards advising me in making my selection -- with me being a first-timer and all. I kept it simple...I chose the Classic Burger (pink) with pepper jack cheese, bacon marmalade, and as a side, I had to go with the Dirty Fries -- 'cause that's how I roll y'all. About the food: I have to say, the burger was staunchly built and crafted with artistry. Nice and tall with a seriously tasty bun encapsulating everything. Perfectly well-seasoned meat and the first bite was simply delightful. I noticed as I got towards the center of the meat, it was bit less juicy than the surrounding parts of the burger, but nevertheless still tasty. My Dirty Fries were delicious In the end; the experience as a whole was quite delightful and I would definitely like to go there again -- perhaps try a different burger to expand upon my experience with this place. Gotta try out That Bar y'all! I do recommend it for those who haven't had a chance to go by there to check it out.

For the main, I ordered the standard burger despite several limited-edition options being available (ask about the Hamilton theme!). It was cooked precisely to my specified medium, with a flavorful patty and nice structural integrity throughout. The tater tots were basically as good as they come. We paired the meal with IPAs - Dancing with the Bulls and Bull in a Bottle Shop - both of which held up well against the richness of the food and worked particularly well with the burger. I finished the meal off with the amaretto which provided a balanced finish and was reminiscent of my usual espresso martini without being overly boozy or heavy. Service was friendly and professional as always, and the atmosphere remains a strong point: upscale casual without feeling forced. The chicken was good, along with the spicy sauce but the plate felt empty. The steak was barely edible and mostly fat. The arugula salad it came with wasn't good either. Luckily the rosemary fries were very tasty. Overall, we will not be back for the "new and improved" menu. The service didn't help, as they were understaffed.

I think there's a sports ball thing going on somewhere, too. One person ahead of me and I gave the nice lady my order. Sweet with a little bit of tang and you can definitely taste the seasoning. The crust has the right thickness the right crunch and the right give. The crust could stand to have a little more flavor but overall it was a solid crust. My issue with the food was for $25 on a 8x10 pizza, there should be enough cheese in the mix to cover more than 60% of the pizza. They have a "signature cheese blend" but then 40% of the pizza doesn't get any of it. A bit disappointing. Which gives the value a 2/5 at best. In addition to these two factors I was asked my name for the order when I arrived. The young lady walked off and then I spotted her on her phone in the corner, followed by folding pizza boxes in a different corner. Eventually a gentleman approached with the same question. Wouldn't you know it, my order was sitting right there next to the host stand. Not impressive. The ambiance is a bit pretentious for a place serving pizza which I found to be pretty greasy. The ambiance definitely matches the price so I guess that's what they are going for. The only lot for parking is paid but I suppose that may be the norm for "downtown" Durham. The flavor again was very good, but the value and the competency of the staff are a miss. As a frequent traveler I think I'd explore the other options next time rather than return.

I had high hopes, but there is reason why fries made from fresh potatoes aren't widely offered at restaurants and it's mostly bc they have so much water content and easily come out soggy. And these came out exactly that way - soggy and limp. The chicken sandwich I ordered was a special, limited time offering, and it was also ok. It was advertised as having a slaw on top and that's a strong word for what was served. When I think slaw, I think robust, crunchy veggies with some vinegar bite and while I got a bit of that, it wasn't enough to balance out the fried, savoriness of the breaded chicken patty and bbq sauce.
