Great food and great service! Angie was our server and she was amazing! Perfect place for football Sunday if you're looking for something that's a step above bar food and nice and relaxed atmosphere.

We went to Flying Bull before a DPAC show. They weren't quite full, but lots of folks were there to eat before rhe show as well. Our order consisted of Mac and Beer Cheese, Loaded Nachos with brisket, Buffalo Chicken dip, a Gormet Burger with Truffle Fries and Banana Pudding. For drinks we tried the Double Smoked Old Fashion and Berry me in Mint. The Mint was very good and refreshing, not too sweet. And... I was told the old fashioned was great! The Mac & Cheese was really good. Not super creamy if that is what you are expecting. The crunchy shallots really made the dish. Most likely because it is beer cheese... so expect cheese, not cream. The Buffalo Chicken dip.is the best I have had so far! So creamy, good heat and nice chunks of chicken with fried pita chips. Scrumptious! Nachos were also delicious, although not as big a portion as tou may be used to. The gornet burget had great flavor and the trufflie fries were amazing. The Banana Pudding waa the final flavor of the nigh which was like your grandma would make. tExcellent dinner for sure.

Saturdays in Durham are bustling, and reservations are a must almost anywhere. Fortunately, we snagged a table just before the dinner rush began. The service was outstanding--our waiter was attentive, personable, and made the experience even better. They just opened and restaurant was very clean. Appetizers we tried: * Brussels Sprouts: 10/10 - perfectly crispy and flavorful. * Beer Cheese & Pretzels: 10/10 - As a Wisconsin native, this is high praise, and it lived up to the hype. * Crab Cakes: 7/10 - While tasty, the portions were so small it was hard to appreciate the crab's flavor fully. Dinner: Shrimp Alfredo - rich, creamy, and satisfying. Cocktail: Razzle Dazzle - a delightful mix of bourbon and Chambord that balanced boldness with a touch of sweetness. Overall: 10/10. We'll absolutely be back!

Came here on a Friday night with some girlfriends- pretty chill and very nice ambiance. Great for a chill gathering, they have a nice bar area, tables, or booths. It's a pretty spacious and modern place! The lights dimmed just slightly as evening time passed, it made for a great mood. Our server was also really wonderful, he was really attentive and kind. I split an order of the Brussels sprouts which was chefs kiss! I love the little bits of the exterior that have fallen off and became crispy and caramelized. Some of the more halved pieces were great, but missing a tad flavor in the center which is okay cause it balanced it out holistically- a must-get! Even my friend who isn't a huge Brussels sprouts fan went in for two bites. It does have a sweet flavor and glaze to them. I shared an order of the brisket sandwich, and it was pretty good! Bread could've been toasted a tad bit more, but the softness of the bread was still nice. Overall, average, I'd say- but take that for a grain of salt cause I'm a native Texan so I get pretty serious about my BBQ. Speaking of salt- the fries were like McDonald's fries (which is a GOOD thing and compliment by the way), they were warm and crispy as they came out- however, it was lacking in flavor. The upside about this is that you can control your sodium intake and add as much or as little as you'd like. We mixed ours with the classic ketchup and also mayo (some may say strange but don't yuck someone else's yum ;))

Very big, open space--very easy to find. Offering a wide array of both food and drinks. Be sure to ask what beer they brew themselves, as most draft options are guest taps. I do appreciate 3 different sizes for pours: taster, pint, stein. Parking is on the street. Service was great and overall the place was chill.

Flying Bull was able to accommodate our larger party so we dined here for dinner. It was a beer for me and the golden calf cocktail for my husband and the deviled eggs with bacon jam to start. For our meals it was the pork chop for me after I learned that they were out of the grilled k-style eggplant and the seared shoyu glazed salmon for him. The food was good but the pork chop was a bit dry and I wanted more balsamic glaze. It was also a bit expensive. Overall we all had a good time.

Harvest the bartender made our experience at Flying Bull great! We decided to check this out one night and was very pleased with their drinks and small bites. I will make it back to try more items in their menu, but to really get some great drinks! This is a place perfect for any occasion! The place is clean and is very chill. I recommend reservations but depending on the day of the week you go, it might not be needed. I went during the week, on a Thursday night. I'm already trying to plan another visit!

We went to flying bull on a Saturday for my dad's birthday dinner. I made a reservation about a week ahead but we likely would have been ok without one for our party of 6. This was our first dinner here and I selected this spot because the food is really good and they make delicious beer. We tasted about every beer on the menu and were really impressed by the double milk stout. Our appetizers were so good I didn't even get a picture because they disappeared so quickly and we ordered a second round of Brussels. The pickled onions that accompany the Brussels are a brilliant addition. The chicken dip had a nice kick to it and the deviled eggs were a hit with everyone. The entree favorite was the Tuna steak with Gorgonzola pasta. My only criticism is that the tuna is not the star with that delicious Gorgonzola sauce... but that pasta was 4/6 people's favorite bite of the night. The ribeye was really nice as well. My dad's Salmon was cooked a bit more than he would have preferred. The yellow beets and chicken were also delicious. The only thing I would not order in the future was the pork chop. It just wasn't anything special in my opinion. However, those collard are definitely worth a try! They let us get some with the ribeye rather than broccoli and what a treat!! Our server was wonderful and the owner dropped by our table to see how we enjoyed our meal. Nothing but happy customers at our table. Thanks for the birthday serenade and the free beer for our birthday boy who doesn't do sweets! It's a nice spot worthy of a special occasion without being pretentious. Loved it!

Chicken shawarma...delicious!

My husband and I are partaking in the Bull City Beer Challenge. Which is where you got to at least 12 of 23 participating breweries in Durham and you'll get a T-shirt, coozie, and pint glass. Since we also love fall, we took a Friday afternoon off and decided to visit 3 or 4 on the list. This was our fourth and final stop of the day. I think this is more of a 3.5 star review. While we ultimately enjoyed our time here, there were just a couple of reasons I can't rate it higher. We got here early on a Friday evening. We paid for street parking but you could have probably parked for free at the Farmer's Market. It was a lovely evening so we sat outside. All of the waitstaff was really young. I have nothing against that, they just did not seem very confident in seating us or answering out questions. They were very polite though. I really wanted to try the empanadas but was informed that they were out. I asked if they were made in house and they said yes. I thought that it was odd to be out of something that they made there but figured they must have run out of ingredients, so I ordered the chicken shawarma (added fries). Be warned...the wrap is $15 BY ITSELF...if you want fries, it's an extra $4. No truffle fries, just fries. My husband got the Bacon Smash Burger and added fries. We both had two beers with dinner. The two beers I had (a blonde ale called My Roots are Showing) and a stout, were very delicious. While we were waiting for our food, we heard the waiter tell another table that they were out of empanadas....another waiter chimed in that they were in fact, NOT out of empanadas! Just as I was about to ask if I could change my order, our food came out. So while I'm a little upset that I didn't get the empanadas, I must say that the chicken shawarma was absolutely amazing! But the fries that we paid extra for were just meh. Our total came to just under $90...which was a little bit much to me. A sandwich with fries and two beers each? I know that things are getting more expensive these days but it just seemed a little pricey for what we got. I will probably got to their taphouse on 9th Street since I did enjoy the beer and the chicken shawarma AND it's more convenient to me, but not sure if I'll come back to this location. I rounded up for these reasons and because I believe the owner is a veteran or at the very least supports veterans!

This was a good spot for our NYE dinner. The menu has a variety of drink options. I ordered a dirty martini and it hit the spot. The staff was attentive and friendly. Their warm hospitality added to the delightful dining experience.

I decided to check out this place while in the area recently. There is plenty of street parking nearby and a parking garage as well. Loved that there's indoor and outdoor seating options. Service is average--nothing notable or spectacular. I would say the same for the food as well. I honestly think it's overpriced for the portions. The portion of the Brussel sprouts is very small for an appetizer that should be shareable. Also, the entrees do not come with sides. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this place again.

The hours that prove the restaurant should have been open till 11 PM.

Terrible experience- rude bartender and host. Would give zero stars if I could. Walked almost a mile here from DPAC at the recommendation of the Offline app. Google says they close at 11 PM, Offline says 11 PM, their door to the outside says 11 PM. We arrive a few minutes after 9, maybe 9:05, and they have a restaurant full of people. There are people at the bar, there is an entire baseball team outside. There are being actively being served food (I watched it happen). I was rudely told by the host that the kitchen was closed. What??!!! 2 hours early where it doesn't say that anywhere online? The bartender was also super rude. I told every single person I passed on the sidewalk not to bother.

And, it truly lived up to the hype. One of the best we've ever had! I also tried two other cocktails made with their house-distilled rum and gin, and both were delicious and perfectly balanced. The seasonal menu is creative and reasonably priced, we were genuinely impressed. The ambiance is charming and cozy despite a bit warm inside (the AC was pretty weak), but quiet and tastefully decorated with velvet couches, exposed walls, vintage touches, and fresh flowers on each table. We had fun flipping through their amazing cocktail book collection on the shelf too. The bartenders were very friendly and offered us focaccia from Ninth Street Bakery to pair with our drinks for free, which was such a thoughtful and tasty addition. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and are so happy to see a micro-distillery thriving in the heart of Durham. Can't wait to return for an official tour and to sample more of their spirits!

That response will get a smile every time. Super dog-friendly, to say the least, both outside and inside. Outside has several tables under a covered area, and inside has a few couches (with tiny tables) and a long bar you can sit at. We've been a few times now, and the service is super friendly and helpful, every time. It's small and intimate inside, but we never have a problem finding a seat! I love that they have snacks you can help yourself to, in airtight jars at the bar (peanut butter filled pretzels, sour worms, etc). Also important to note- the inside is NOT air conditioned. We stopped in on a HOT day, and it's brutal inside, with cloth couches and just one small fan. Love this bar, all of their cocktails (wine available too), and all of the staff! Will be back (a lot)!!

Definitely high stars for customer service. They could work anywhere I think and be noteworthy. The drinks were solidly on the "ho-hum" scale. Nothing out of the ordinary. In all fairness, I only tried one and maybe if I had a second, I would be more impressed. For the drink (espresso martini), the espresso beans floating in the glass were an unexpected fun addition, but they didn't have much flavor. Maybe after the alcohol, I should have expected that. If I sound "meh" -- yeah -- it was that. The food started out almost the same way, but as I worked my way through it, it got a bit better. The tempura squash is almost like light fried ravioli. While okay, I would have preferred more flavor from the squash rather than from the marinara sauce. It still didn't overwhelm me with flavor, but it was decent enough. Overall, I couldn't decide between 2 or 3 stars, but the employees alone were enough to put it at 3 for me.

We made a reservation for a Saturday night dinner and he made sure we were well taken care of all night. The latter two drinks were mocktails and they were still standouts!
