The food truck goes brick and mortar! It is rare to see a cheesesteak place in Raleigh so we are very excited to have this one now!! I ordered the original beef cheesesteak (cheese and meat only!!) And my bf had TWO chicken cheesesteaks. Yup. They are that good. I'm definitely trying a chicken one next time, I had a bite of both of his and they were so good. Unique flavor, piping hot and soft bread. No one is using handcut steak around here except Mr. Cheesesteak. And the fries are amazing. I love skinny cut fries. Definitely give them a try! read more

It's mid. Maybe go if you're craving a cheesesteak. I had higher expectations for this place. 1st up and what you all care about: the food. It was only ok. For a cheesesteak specific place I thought it would be a bit better. I actually thought the meat was a bit dry. Flavors didn't really jump out at you. It was just kind of bland. The fries were ok. Some were nice and crispy and others were greasy and soft. I also had a clump that looked like they got stuck together in the frier and didn't cook long enough. The portions are generous which is nice. I didn't finish the fries. The dining experience: came here on a lunch break and ended up waiting 25-30 minutes to get my sandwich. Somehow got tricked into trying this place again by a different name on grub hub. I had no idea it was the same place until I later went to the address for Fatties Cheesesteaks and saw that it was the same location with the same name. They've definitely improved. Nowhere close to the best cheesesteak I've had, but among the best I've had in NC. I'm not sure what changed but their sandwiches have more flavor and better texture than they used to read more

I decided to give this place a try because it was close to my hotel. I wish I never did. The Philly cheesesteak was one of the worst ones I have ever had. The fries were good though. The order was wrong first off. I wanted onions and green peppers and I got onions and mushrooms. The cheesesteak was flavorless and the beef was kind of tough. The Garlic Parm Fries! They are so good! I was seriously impressed by this little cheesesteak shop in a strip office park. I had a basic cheesesteak with extra cheese and no other toppings, the meat was moist and the cheese as gooey and plentiful. I also enjoyed a very sweet but delicious lemonade and the best part, the garlic parm! I love a crispy fry, so to me these were perfect, all fries were consistently crispy and Parmesany. My daughter and I had lunch here for the first time on 12/12. FOOD: I ordered the Hippie grilled cheese and zucchini fries and my daughter had the 919 burger. My grilled cheese was good. It could have been better if the avocado that I anticipated was on the grilled cheese. I realized after I was home that it wasn't. No matter I ate the sandwich. It was hot, well portioned of cheese and bread and wasn't soggy.The zucchini fries come frozen and are deep fried. They were good. My daughter wouldn't talk while eating her huge, 919 burger. It looked delicious and she confirmed that it was. SERVICE: The service was great. The young man that took our order was also the cook and he didn't seem to mind. Service was courteous and pleasant. I heard him tell another customer that he had been with the business for three years since moving from another state. I thought this was admirable. It is rare to find young people with committed time in at restaurants. ATMOSPHERE: Visited during the day at a slower time. The tables are spaced for COVID distancing. Could use a deep cleaning. Because of my OCD, I usually notice dirt in corners and finger prints on windows! I would definitely visit here again. The cook was moping the floor when I arrived. He didn't wash his hands...just took my order, dug my cup in the ice dispenser, threw on some ripped gloves and started cooking. This was my first time trying this place. I had a similar experience to one of the previous reviews. We weren't greeted when we walked in. We were the only people in there. The cheesesteak was terrible. It was oily, not flavorful, and the presentation was awful. A little salt and pepper may have helped. The Buffalo cheesesteak lacked, wait for it, Buffalo sauce! The chicken was undercooked and lacked any seasoning also. I tried eating it, but I couldn't. It was just too disgusting. We ended up throwing both sandwiches in the trash and going to McDonald's. First let's start with appearance cause the floors looked dirty like it wasn't sweep it was early too I was there 30 minutes after they open and sitting at one of the tables it smelled sour, like a dirty mildew rag was used to wipe tables down. Was in town from Ohio about 6 weeks ago and my son wanted to try Mr Cheesesteak. We ordered the regular cheesesteaks. He had regular fries. I had the sweet potato waffle fries. My wife had the chicken Philly with sweet potato waffle fries. The guy making the cheesesteaks was very friendly and helpful. The food was really good! After my son took his first bite he said "MMMmmmMMM!!! I KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO BE GOOD!!!" Lol. He was right. Not only was it good but also very filling. The portions are very generous! Washed everything down with sweet tea (which was very sweet). Made another trip down two weeks later and had to get more. It's sooo good :) highly recommended!! read more

Got a BUFFALO chicken cheesesteak at the Roxboro Food Truck Rodeo today. Service was poor, the guy taking orders had an attitude and after repeating what i wanted 3 times he continued to get it wrong. I think they were rushed and trying to make what was convenient for them. I was charged an extra $1.50 for the "specialty cheesesteak" and in the end, I received a regular chicken cheesesteak with peppers/onions/mushrooms. This is the perfect place to go for a delicious lunch or dinner. I went during their grand opening, met their owner, and even made room for two cheesesteaks! I had the buffalo chicken cheesesteak AND the southern pimiento cheesesteak and was blown away by both. Their French fries are also tasty and crispy. They are the skinny style which is perfect with a juicy cheesesteak. My girlfriend is a bit more traditional with her cheesesteaks and got a classic. I had a bite and you could taste the freshness of the beef. Not only is the service quick and friendly, but they also cook right in front of you. You can see the fresh ingredients they use! Wickedly poor "cheesesteaks". If this place served this drivel in Philly, they'd be taken outside and publically flogged. There's nothing remotely "cheesesteak" about this place. Meat is mush, rolls are chewy, and toppings offered aren't true to the original. Hate to excoriate mom n pops, but Mr. Cheesesteak has a lot of Art Museum steps to climb before it can be anything like the official. Terrible service. The guy working was rude and acted like he was upset that I even walked in to get food. Highly do not recommend.

Steak was pre-cooked (heated when you order) and had a number of gristle chunks that were not edible and with limited seasoning. The onions and peppers were served warm, but pretty raw (not what I expected). The fries were good and sodas limited to a few canned options in a refrigerator. A cheesesteak, fries, and a can of Coke was over $12 - would have been OK if very good, but it really was not. read more

I finally got to try out Mr. Cheesesteak. Was it worth the wait. Not so much. I was greeted by a non-smiling white cook. He didn't show no appreciation for me dropping in. I started making my order before I could say what I didn't want on it. I don't like mushrooms in or on my food. I will cook with them and pick them out. The steak sandwich was decent, to me the skinny little toothpick fries tasted better than the sandwich itself. At least it's made with real steak pieces. I had to ask for a cup to get my drink since I asked for the combo which they add $3 more for on the costly sandwich itself. I found I had to shake a drink out the containers since while the store was empty before me, the cook had no time to refill the drink containers. He didn't even offer to get more for me as he watched me struggle getting it out. This visit I would not recommend due to the ill-manners of the attendants. read more
