Housemade Mozz Sticks

Perfect spot for a quick lunch! The sandwiches are so so good/ on homemade bread and make mozzarella in house. Chicken cutlets are great. The salad was my fav- so fresh and perfect lunch (and great size!!). You order at the table on a QR code and it's brought out to you. Cool vibe in the place, it's not too big but it has booths and like smaller 2 tops and some outdoor seating too

Great sandwiches and mozzarella sticks on the day I went. Had a nice crowd eating there when I went there yesterday.. Nice and friendly staff and quaint decor that included state licenses and logos from breweries and other things. Plan to make a return trip...Great place.

Really good sandwhiches, especially a buffalo chicken sandwhich, so many variations. Lots of outdoor seating. A little on the pricier side for a sandwhich fries and a drink but you order online which is quick and easy.

We had a truly awesome lunch here. I had the cheesesteak hero. Ratio of ingredients was spot on. Everything tasted fresh. Perfection. Got some ranch on the side, and the ranch tasted homemade. Curly fries were yum. My husband loved his corned beef Reuben. Mexican Coke and homemade lemonades to drink. Highly highly recommend.

Came back here again to try some new stuff. Started out with the patatas bravas which were so good! I wasn't expecting them to be that way tbh since it's a sandwich shop but I really liked them! We split one of the turkey sandwiches and the cheesesteak, both were great.

Pimento Cutlet

The sandwiches were fast and fresh, with a crispy and juicy cutlet and a super tasty pimento cheese. The vegan tenders were also cooked well to mimic the cutlet texture. Hush puppies were delicious and not spicy at all, potato salad was also great. Free refills on the lemonade, which wasn't too sweet.

Caesar A Diavolo

Stopped here for lunch - It was a cute little sandwich shop. While it was fairly busy on a Sunday, there's several options for seating inside and outside. I ordered the Caesar A Diavolo, which had good flavor but was definitely dry even with an extra side of sauce. I think a tomato or pickle would have made it a much more enjoyable meal. However, there were several other options that looked great. I would definitely come back to try other sandwiches. The curly fries were great, though. I would order them again!

First off, the place has a cute vibe and a fun concept--I really liked the atmosphere, even though it felt like the AC might've been on strike... it was crazy warm inside! That said, the staff was super welcoming. I was greeted right away, and I noticed a young lady tidying up the tables, which is always a good sign. I ordered the Parm Sub and the Buffalo Cauliflower. The sub was pretty solid--bread was a bit on the tougher side, but overall it made for a good lunch. The cauliflower, though, could use a revamp. It tasted like it went straight from the freezer into the deep fryer without much love in between. That said, I'll definitely be back! The sandwich hit the spot, parking was easy (huge plus in Durham), and major kudos for having an exceptionally clean restroom. That always earns bonus points from me.

I loved, loved, LOVED this sandwich shop. Easy to find and plenty of parking out back, it was much larger than anticipated. It was really difficult to decide what sandwich to get since they all sounded so amazing. But I ultimately settled on the Balboa's Beefsteak and my friend got the Reggio Grilled Chicken (which I believe is new to the menu.) We also got an order of the curly fries and an order of the sweet potato tots. I was a bit off put by the $16 price tag for the sandwich....until I saw it. It was big and I was able to make two meals out of it, especially with the sides. The sandwich was delicious and had well rounded flavors. My friends sandwich was good as well. But let me tell you...the star of this show (a total surprise to me!) was the sweet potato tots. So delicious, you should definitely try them. I know I will be getting them again. You can order at your table or at the counter. We opted to order at the counter and they lady working was very nice. You could get bottled or canned beverages, but we opted for the free water. We were there for lunch on a Wednesday, there were a lot of cars but not a lot of people inside...maybe they were out back? Either way, it was a yummy time with my friend and I WILL be coming back...I have more sandwiches I would like to try!!!!

Calabrian Burrata Cutlet, Curly Fries, Sweet Potato Tots

One of my favorite spots in Durham! My team decided to order in from Eastcut for lunch & I was so excited. Got the Calabrian Burrata Cutlet, which is a Blackboard Special, this time. It includes your choice of cutlet (I always get eggplant, would recommend), burrata (so creamy- I think they make it in house but don't quote me on that lol), arugula, tomato, calabrian chili aioli, and basil oil & parm on a sesame round roll. Overall, all the elements went well together & created a good sandwich. But tbh would not recommend take out for Eastcut, because sandwiches will inevitably get soggy, subtracting from the experience. We also got sweet potato tots and curly fries, which were classic & tasty once I air fried them. In the past, I dined in and got the East-Katsu, which includes a cutlet, kimchi slaw, tomato, pickled red onion, cilantro, sweet soy, and spicy mayo on a sesame roll with sweet potato tots. This is a lovely sandwich, and I think it's a great first time option. Service is relatively fast & friendly. Ambiance is nice & casual with both indoor & outdoor seating. 8.5/10 would recommend, but definitely try to go in person!

Been wanting to try for a while since moving to the area and hearing so many say great things. They did not disappoint. Choose your own seating and can order and pay using the QR code on the table which I LOVE. Our food came out fast and hot and everything was delicious. Honestly probably the best sandwiches we have had in Durham. Really great pricing on everything too. Super cute atmosphere. Love the pride month decor they had. We sat inside because this heat wave is too much but the outside is super cute. They have some seating in the front picnic tables and patio tables and then the bigger covered outdoor area in the back. The inside has a bar area which looked like mostly wine and craft beer. They have a location in Raleigh as well. My favorite part is that they are family owned and operated and they use their platform for good to raise and donate funds to a variety of nonprofits to fight food insecurity, protect our environment, and engage the community. Gotta love when great food meets even greater people.

This place is a decent place to go get sandwiches. I placed a pick up order and the host on the phone was super nice and accommodating. The order was made within 15 minutes and was really hot still when we got home. We came at the recommendation of my friend who liked the balboa cheesesteak. He also said the chicken sandwich was great- like chick fil a "reborn again" and that he wouldn't recommend he gabagool because it tasted like subway. We got 3 balboa beefsteaks. Looking at reviews we asked to get extra american cheese and extra steak to get a nice packed sandwich. This only added about an extra $5 to each sandwich and they definitely did load it. I wasn't the biggest fan of this sandwich. It was missing enough mayo... or seasoning on the steak, or maybe just a whole different bun. I don't know what it was. When I want a cheesesteak I love a good sloppy cheesy seasoned cheesesteak and this wasn't that. This was more of a clean and deli type steak and cheese sandwich. I think the other sandwiches have potential though!

Visited at around 5:30PM on a weeknight, right before the crowd. They are a decent value for the food quality and price. Their cheesesteak is tremendous. Fast and friendly service

Ask the Community - Eastcut Sandwich Bar - Durham

Is the mozzarella made with animal rennet?

Hi Kartik! We use cheese curds that are clotted with non-animal enzymes, so no animal rennet. Thanks for checking and hope to see you soon!

"Great deli-style sandwiches, from rather hidden location on Chapel Hill Rd"…read more Came by here on a Saturday. This place is REALLY hard to find... it's behind the State Farm building, but there's barely any signage from the street. (Note: some photos here in Yelp seem to be from an older location.) We actually came one Saturday, but it was unexpectedly closed, but we caught them the following one, so good to call and confirm before driving over. You walk up to a door on the back, and scan a QR code to see the menu. Then knock on/ open the door and someone will come to take your order. Then you wait outside and they bring you your sandwiches. The lady who took our order was very friendly. The kitchen was rather large, so I suspect it's used for more than just this business. We ordered two turkey subs-- the East New York (which was slightly spicy) and the Dumbo. Wait time was maybe 7-10 minutes or so. Both sandwiches came nicely wrapped, and I think total cost was a little over $20. And conveniently, they take Apple Pay. These were not your Subway or Quiznos sandwiches-- these were DELICIOUS pressed sandwiches (we got them on focaccia. I personally liked the Dumbo the best-- it had a nice mix of flavors that meshed well. The East New York was solid and had a nice spiciness, but not quite as exciting overall. Would I come back? Probably, but since there's no seating, and it's a bit awkward, maybe not the first place I'd think to try, but again, the sandwiches were REALLY good. I do think it may be excellent for catering or for getting picnic sandwiches though.

First of all, the bread is soft and has a nice bite, holds the juices of a sandwich well and was fresh. I got the Cobble Hill sandwich and the turkey was really good. Also the size is amazing for the price. When you get there, it feels like you're in the wrong place or entering in the wrong way, but you're not. I asked if this was the sandwich spot and a young man took my order and made my sandwich within 5 min. And there is enough parking behind the State Farm building to pull up and get your sandwich I can't wait to go back and try the Italian and cheesesteak sandwiches.

They answered our questions and provided recommendations upon request. We had a large group, so it was taking a while for all of the food to be ready. I decided to just get a raspberry white chocolate scone and a greena colada so that I didn't have to wait a very long time to eat. We enjoyed sitting upstairs where we could all sit together and watch the scenery while eating. The kids loved the space, and it also provided us with some privacy for our birthday celebration. The scone was very good. I was a bit disappointed with the smoothie, though. I was expecting it to be flavorful and naturally sweet due to the mangoes and pineapple as well as the honey that was supposed to be added, but it was quite bland and not flavorful at all. Everyone else seemed to have enjoyed their food.

They make cookies, pastries, breads (pan loaf and hand-formed ones), soups, hand pies, and sandwiches. The variety is amazing. During the holiday season, they offer larger pies and have various seasonal goods to offer. But what's also wonderful is this bakery gives back to the community in many ways. During the height of the pandemic, they offered free bagged lunch to anyone who needed one. They also were (are?) part of the pilot project for Durham's guaranteed income. It looks to me that the owners/company are concerned about being good citizens of the community and that's a great thing. These days, so many companies get bought out by private equity companies. I hope this bakery continues to be locally owned and operated! (Also, generally this bakery isn't offering the very fancy European/European-ish style pastries which is fine by me. The prices are very reasonable, possibly in part because they aren't trying to make their baked goods a "high end" item. There are other good local bakeries that offer "high end" pastries, but they are also much less affordable and for my taste, too rich.)
