With that being said.. I'd rather keep this conversation here instead of moving it to email. The reason I posted the review publicly was so other customers could see what happened, and because the biggest concerns still haven't been addressed. The fruit flies were gross, but honestly, they were the least of our worries.. Your bartender was literally vaping behind the bar, and when we mentioned the flies, she laughed and told us you have roaches. Have either of those issues been taken care of? You mentioned that the employee may no longer be part of the team.. We have VERY recently seen the same girl leaving the restaurant in her work uniform. She has an "A" tattoo behind her ear, so she should be easy for you to identify. I'm happy to provide the date and approximate time of our visit and I can appreciate that the fruit fly issue was addressed.. but again.. what about the vaping behind the bar and the roaches?? It's also extremely concerning that the restaurant was mentioned on WRAL for receiving a health score of 85.. We ended up looking at the report online and saw that a member of management isn't even certified in food safety. There are open cans of food/sauce sitting out for more than a week?.. When things like this are being documented by the state it really raises questions about how the restaurant is being managed. read more

I ordered the breakfast plate (2 scrambled eggs) with an andoille sausage with hash cakes, a side of grits, white toast, and I tried the tomato gravy with a mimosa! They are clearly leaning into the look and feel of a classic East Coast diner, with chrome details, comfy booths, and pops of color that give it that nostalgic, lived-in charm. Everyone we interacted with was kind, upbeat, and went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. It felt like they were happy we were there, which always makes the food taste better. Service was friendly enough but the crew were a bit overworked (or understaffed), food was tasty enough, but the space has no personality and it boring. Unexpected amazing experience. I don't frequent the Durham area too much. I come whenever my boyfriend is here for work. I sat at the bar because I had some work to do and plenty of seating was available. I was greeted immediately by the bartender and she grabbed me a water, cappuccino and I did have a mimosa as well. I was torn on what to order so she recommends the Hash Benny. I've worked in the restaurant industry at some brunch spots and would have never recommended a Benny because it's so hit or miss. BUT this was so damn good. Instead of an English muffin, the base is a crispy hash brown about an inch thick. The ham was a little charred and had good caramelization. It was sweet but savory. Probably one of the best brunch bites I've ever had. The team was really nice. It seemed like everyone was enjoying their shifts and also having fun with the guests. After I wrapped up my work and was speaking with the bartender, come to find out she is the director of operations, who would have thought?! But what I really enjoyed most was that she assisted me without adding in the extras of who she was and really seemed to care about my experience. This is my new go-to place for breakfast, in Durham. My favorite is the biscuit crumble. It was great, the right amount of food, fresh biscuits, the right temperature for sausage gravy and eggs, not too spicy. My wife had the flapjacks (a.k.a pancakes, at my house), and they were spot on, also the right temperature to melt the butter so that it would cover the cakes. With her pancakes she has a scrambled egg the was fluffy and cooked like they should be done. As for the service, it was even better, the entire staff was friendly and hustled to attain to their customer's needs. As aged southerner, who has eaten at both chain eateries and many of the small ones, I can recommend BBB. In case you're wondering I believe their food is better than Cracker B's. read more

We have been going to BBB since day one. Unfortunately the experience has slowly been disappointing. The bartender is noticeably unfriendly and comes across as irritated when asked simple questions about the menu. There is no welcoming attitude, which immediately sets an uncomfortable tone for the visit. On top of that, the cleanliness of the restaurant has a lot to be desired. Tables aren't wiped down properly, the floors looked like they have not been swept in a while, bathrooms are ALWAYS dirty and the bar area is always cluttered and sticky. It's hard to fully enjoy a meal when the environment doesn't feel clean or well-maintained. Breakfast should feel warm and inviting, but at BBB, the experience feels the opposite. This food ruined my morning. We ordered skillets to go why do they give you these huge "breakfast" potato chunks like they do in seafood boils? Like I've never went for breakfast and had such big chunks.. in an egg skillet. Usually they are diced into the cute little cubes this is almost comical. The spinach was like in a large clump, they put avocado when I said no avocado, those hash cake things? Disgusting flavor and texture wise idk how this place has certain reviews idk wtf they were eating. The place lacks seasoning & proper kitchen etiquette I include photos to show how non dramatic I'm being. My food was literally in a watery mess which I'm pretty sure was due to not draining the spinach and mushrooms, what kitchen staff doesn't know how to make a damn fried egg with veggies??
