We bumped into Sal's great reviews and decided to set aside our "barbecue" cravings for the next day. Antipasto salad was enormous! It was packed with veggies and flavor. Pizza was excellent! We loved the crispy crust, cheese and pepperoni blended super well- and we were happy to take leftovers back to our hotel room. Service is impeccable - the young man who took care of us seemed to be a hard worker. I can tell that customer service is a must here! Great atmosphere, nice crowds, family friendly.

I ordered Sal's for delivery for the first time and definitely will be ordering again. I took off a star because the menu on door dash is outdated or incorrect. I wanted the chicken Stromboli but got a buffalo chicken Stromboli instead. I was disappointed because the toppings that came included were completely different. However this is my only complaint I will say everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful and delicious. The spaghetti alla puttanesca was flavorful and I also ordered meatballs with it (those were pretty good too). I meant to take a better pic but as you can see we dove in immediately because the food was so good.

Amazing food and service! And the portions will leave you with another meal or two! I will definitely be back again soon!

We recently moved here from NY. Needless to say, NY has a reputation for having really, REALLY good pizza. So, we were pleasantly surprised when we tried the pizza from Sal's. We ordered a margarita pie with sausage and sauteed mushrooms. It was absolutely, outstandingly delicious! In fact, we enjoyed it SO much, that we ordered that same Pizza 3 days in a row, lol! We will continue to try different dishes, and we hope to be equally impressed with them!!

Two slices of plain (couldn't resist a couple bites), about $7.50 in 2025.

Best pizza I've found in the area! I'm a transplant from NY/NJ, so I'm very picky when it comes to pizza. After three years down here, I finally found some good pizza! Just enough crisp on the bottom, tasty crust, huge slices, lots of drippy cheese. Not bad at all!!

Pizza was good. The slices were huge. Reminds me of New York slices of pizza. Would go back.

"Excellent Detroit-style thick rectangular pizzas in Brightleaf"…read more Came here on a Thursday night at 6:15pm. The place is modestly lit, with brick walls inside and several large TVs around. Almost all the booths were already occupied, but we got the last one. Our server was friendly and described the pizzas for us. My girlfriend ordered the shaved Brussels sprouts salad and I ordered a Caesar salad. We also ordered the Nashville hot chicken pizza (sixer) to share. The salads came fast and were delicious. You could taste that there are real anchovy bits in the Caesar and the cherries in the Brussels sprouts salad added a delightful sweetness. It was about 30 minutes after we ordered that we got the pizza, but MAN it was worth the wait. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, the white sauce had a tang of mayo while being quite spicy, and the overall combo was delightful. It was notable that the toppings REALLY fell off the pizzas, so this was much easier to fork & knife than hand-eat, but so be it. And they were generous with the toppings. Price was good- $55 (including for a mocktail) before tip. Overall, an excellent pizza option in Durham if you're looking for something a little different. I'll happily come back.

I had made reservations for 5:45 on a Friday night before a DPAC show. I'm so glad that I did. As soon as we entered the hostess asked if we had reservations. We were seated promptly but I asked what would have happened if we didn't have reservations? She said that we probably would have been turned away. This seemed a little odd at first since the restaurant was NOT full by any means (see pics). It was full by the time we left though so, MAKE RESERVATIONS! I had an espresso martini and my husband had a ponysaurus IPA. Both of us were happy with our drinks! We ordered the Shaved Brussel Sprout Salad to start (and share). We ordered the regular and it was PLENTY! My husband didn't care for it but I absolutely LOVED it and will come back just for this salad. We then shared a Good Paulie Sixer and it was PHENOMENAL. Truly the best pizza I've had in a long time. The crust was cooked perfectly...did you get personal pan pizzas from Pizza Hut back in the 90s when you completed your BOOK IT button? Did you think they were the best thing in the world? If so, this pizza is definitely for you! The other couple with us had the Meatsiah Tenner but didn't order a starter and still took some of it home. My husband really like their pizza and I think that he actually would have preferred it. I guess we will have to come back! LOL The service was good, the bathrooms were nice, overall a great experience. The best thing was the food and we will definitely return.

We got to sit next to the pizza prepper after it comes out of the oven: from cooking, to prepping, to serving is all handled like a well oiled machine. So it comes out deliciously hot, crust perfectly cooked, and all served with a smile. The pizzas were perfect as well as the kale salad we had and the delicate seafood soup in a light tomato broth. They got very busy before we left yet the guy responsible for getting the pizzas ready was chatting with me like he had all the time in the world. I begged them to open up in Boston and I would probably be there 2wice a week. This is hands down my go to restaurant when I am in Durham. The ambiance is perfect for the type of restaurant it is and the service was great. There is no pizza better anywhere in the world according to me. We went with my 2.6 year old grandbaby and the hostess went out of her way to make sure she had a high chair which took some doing to get it off the previous table. You have to go early to secure a seat. Mushroom pizza with arugula and the plain margarita with ricotta hit the spot.

Trust me, I've tried many pizzas in the area and always end up back at Hutchins garage. The perfect crust and the unique toppings lures me to try new pizzas every time. Some of the pizzas I have had the chance to enjoy include: eggplant, hot honey, spicy vodka, pizza bianca, mortadella and kale and fennel sausage. They were willing to make all of the pizzas vegetarian on request. The QR code actually made it very easy to replace toppings (you have to pay extra). The only pizza that I wasn't the biggest fan of was the kale and fennel sausage mostly because the lemon added a zest that wasn't needed in my opinion. Besides pizza, there's also a variety of beer, cocktails, salads and sizes. I usually stick to one of the cocktails and they never disappoint. The space is fairly large and when it is warm enough to sit outside, you will definitely find a spot to sit down. The service is fairly quick after you order via the QR code.
