You can't walk past this place and not smell the fresh scent of pizza! I've been to a few other Mellow Mushroom locations but this one hit the spot. The staff was attentive, quick and super nice when it came to getting our orders in. The food tasted great and they even had a fun holiday special going on if you buy a $50 gift card you get an ornament. Would definitely come back soon!

Omg you can do a half and half specialty pizza what!!! Amazing I had the Kosmic and the tye dye pizza! If you like basil the kosmic is so good. If you like Thai food the tye dye is great!

Great location for baseball or a performance at DPAC. Come early before your event and relax with a drink and nibbles before.

Good service! Pizza is excellent. They did great getting g me in and out in time for my show at DPAC. Interior decor is cool. They also have a nice outdoor patio and screened in porch

Before an event at DPAC, my adult children and I decided on Mellow Mushroom for dinner. Birthday girl's choice. We split a med and a small (veggie and Holy Shiitake, respectively), and some beverages. We sat on the patio, which was just as loud as inside the regular restaurant. We could hardly hear ourselves catching up on what new adventures we had going on in our lives. Every surface is hard, and most are parallel, so there's absolutely no noise dampening, even with all the bodies seated around. It was a Saturday night, so the place was packed, but the servers and food runners did an admirable job of keeping folks fed and hydrated. The Holy Shiitake was for me, and the others split the veggie. (It's the hobbit in me - I love mushrooms!) It's shiitake mushrooms, a ton of garlic, white sauce (Ranch?), and shaved cheese. I needed a bit more salt, but it's a perfect storm of umami to me! No one complained or said anything at all about the garden pizza. It was onions, green peppers and tomatoes. MM's crust is pretty great. I had a Henderson's gin drop no that was, for all intents and purposes a riff on a White Linen. This is one of my favorite summer slammers, and the elderflower, gin, citrus and cucumber were perfectly balanced. I prefer my cakes a bit muddled, but otherwise, it was great. I used to meet here with a group of friends to share tech chats, but we had to stop due to the noise and no one being able to hear two seats away. That was over a decade ago, and I'm surprised they have done nothing to rectify the situation. A few soft wall coverings and some angled baffling would make a world of difference! (and get that fifth star!)

My colleagues and I visited this restaurant today for a team luncheon. We had reservations, so we were seated quickly upon arrival. There was a good bit of people in the restaurant as it was lunch time. This restaurant has adequate spacing between the tables, so it is not a cramped atmosphere. The server was personable and came by our table to get our drink orders immediately after we sat down. The server gave us sufficient time to look through the menu to decide what we wanted for lunch. There was one colleague that was running late and didn't show up until after we had already ordered. It took a little while to get the attention of a server to put the last order in. Additionally, the server never did bring an extra set of utensils to our table after our last colleague arrived. I ordered a chicken hoagie and others ordered steak hoagies and pizzas. We all enjoyed our entrées. The combination of the mushrooms and onions in my chicken hoagie made it quite tasty and flavorful, and the toasted bread remained firm. We enjoyed our team luncheon.

first time eating here, and i will say it's okay for the price. It was overpriced for how small the pizza is, and the crust is majority of the pizza. the actual taste was good but not worth how much i spent. There wasn't too much room to change the toppings unless you wanted to pay a lot. I would go back if it's for a social thing, not just to order out

Hubby and I were visiting family on vacation and we absolutely loved Mellow Mushroom!!!! It was the best pizza we have ever ate and we have had quite a bit of pizza over our lifetime! Hubby keeps talking about the integrity of the crust and how it was just perfect; almost we are both carnivores but the mushroom and white sauce pizza was one we were checking to see who would get the last slice; Customer service by the 2 young ladies was exceptional and the ambience was amazing -- definitely appeals to all age groups

Yummmmy, food always gets me full, Place is so creatively decorated. Service isnt the best but its cool

Calzone with mozzarella, grilled chicken and spinach. Lots of dough, but it tastes decent so that's okay. Overall a good calzone.

I decided to just get a raspberry white chocolate scone and a greena colada so that I didn't have to wait a very long time to eat. We enjoyed sitting upstairs where we could all sit together and watch the scenery while eating. The kids loved the space, and it also provided us with some privacy for our birthday celebration. The scone was very good. I was a bit disappointed with the smoothie, though. I was expecting it to be flavorful and naturally sweet due to the mangoes and pineapple as well as the honey that was supposed to be added, but it was quite bland and not flavorful at all. Everyone else seemed to have enjoyed their food.

"Sandwich shop just off University Dr in Durham"…read more Came here for an evening dinner with a friend. We arrived around 5:45pm, and there was ample parking, but I will say the place was HOPPING by the time we left at 6:30pm. The decor is very cute-- old-style, good seating and a bar area as well. You order at the table, and food comes to you. My dining mate got the Cypriot (Halloumi, Fig, Arugula, Tomato, Pesto) with a side of curly fries, and I wasn't very hungry so I got the Beyond Meat Chicken Tenders kids meal with a side salad. I also got a delicious bottled sparkling lemonade. Service was fine-- food comes after order, but you're mostly on your own once food is delivered, as expected. We got a couple of napkins with the food, but there are more self-serve up in the counter. Just don't expect someone to check on you or anything. The food was GREAT. My dining partner loved her sandwich (commented especially on the fig spread) and fries, and I really liked my meal as well. The side salad was surprisingly delicious, especially the addition of pickled red onion. The place was clean-- I went to the restroom, too, and everything was stocked well. Price was very fair. Overall, I'd happily come back. Easy, priced well, delicious. Not a place where you get a lot of "attention", but great for a simple meal.

They make cookies, pastries, breads (pan loaf and hand-formed ones), soups, hand pies, and sandwiches. The variety is amazing. During the holiday season, they offer larger pies and have various seasonal goods to offer. But what's also wonderful is this bakery gives back to the community in many ways. During the height of the pandemic, they offered free bagged lunch to anyone who needed one. They also were (are?) part of the pilot project for Durham's guaranteed income. It looks to me that the owners/company are concerned about being good citizens of the community and that's a great thing. These days, so many companies get bought out by private equity companies. I hope this bakery continues to be locally owned and operated! (Also, generally this bakery isn't offering the very fancy European/European-ish style pastries which is fine by me. The prices are very reasonable, possibly in part because they aren't trying to make their baked goods a "high end" item. There are other good local bakeries that offer "high end" pastries, but they are also much less affordable and for my taste, too rich.)

We arrived around noon on a busy beautiful Sunday! There's plenty of seating both inside and on their outdoor wrap around patio. Foster's has an old rustic charm, kind of like a general store but on a larger scale. So, you order at the counter with one of their many staffers, they call your name when it's ready if you ordered to go, or they walk around to the tables calling out your name if you choose to dine there! I had the Farm Plate, which was 2 eggs your way, a meat, their famous herb biscuit and your choice of grits or potatoes. I chose scrambled hard with cheese eggs, chicken sausage patties and cheese grits. It was just ok. The food was good, not like OMG! My friend had the Breakfast Burrito and it was again, just ok. They have a variety of options to choose from. Maybe we just picked the most basic ones. Nothing is out of the ordinary. Everything looks delicious and we really should have tried a dessert, but didn't. I would go back to give them another chance, but I'm not rushing.
