Best authentic Italian knots I've had ever. I been through 14 states and have ate Italian restaurants and pizzerias and have to say amazing. The homemade bread And fresh ingredients Mike uses are out of this town. When I say the Strombolis we are were like getting on a plane and flying to Italy to eat. Now we can without the jet lag. I always go this pizza spot when I happen to be in this shopping area, which is not very often. Ambience might not be great for casual date meals but the pizza quality is 1 of the best in Chapel Hill. Not bad for the price. Was pretty unimpressed. My boyfriend and I live in the area and decided to stop in at the end of the day for some last-minute dinner. Honestly this was a mistake and I felt so guilty that my boyfriend had paid for such expensive, awful, slices of pizza. I'm not sure if it was because it was the end of the day, or if these were sitting for such a long time but it was definitely not fresh and personally I hate floppy pizza. I got the meat lovers one and didn't get even 4 bites in before I decided to just make the garlic knots my main meal. The garlic knots were decent but pretty tough, again I'm not sure if they were just sitting for a while or what. I really wouldn't recommend it unless you go earlier in the day for fresh stuff. There are a good number of Pizza places here in Chapel Hill and my family and I have had them all in the 30 years we've been here. I have refrained from writing reviews during Covid due to the fact many restaurants are struggling with staffing issues.....However Imagine it's a Thursday and you have spent your morning in Chapel Hill dodging Toyota Prius and Subaru Outback's all doing 10-15 mph under the limit with their blinkers stuck in the on positions. I Still have no idea how almost all of North Carolina's worst drivers have been drawn to Chapel Hill like moths to a flame, but I digress. It is a bit after noon and you are headed to the food desert that is Hillsborough , with little time you decide to grab a few slices and keep moving. You stop in to Pop's Pizzeria and order a few slices and a drink, once warmed up and served you bite into the pizza and realize the error you have made. I made this mistake and hope that this review may save at least one person from this error. In fact if you told me that they were getting the old cardboard liquor boxes from the ABC store next door and at night cutting them into circles to use as crust, I would call you a liar because that would taste better. If you tried to convince me they had a time machine and went back in time and went to middle schools and stole the rectangle pizza that was served with corn and then served it I would have to call you a liar again, First because there is no such thing as a time machine and second that pizza tasted better. We have tried several items from the menu, pizzas, strombolis, heroes, and everything was fantastic. Our go to place when craving some pizza. The place is welcoming, feels like a regular old pizza joint, the service is great. Everyone was super kind. It's so fun watching them toss the pizza dough. A great place to order from instead of usual places like dominoes and papa Johns. And the cupcake place inside is a must try. Delicious cupcakes from a young aspiring baker. We have been dining at Pop's as a family for years and have always enjoyed ourselves. Tim and I would escape from work during lunch so we could get a lunch special. Always great times, so this is made tonight even worse. The 3 of us arrived to an nearly empty restaurant. I was the first to order asking for a "beef gyro sandwich with fries and a drink." hubby went next asking for "the same", Chloe was last, asking for literally "the same" except she wanted her tziki sauce on the side. We made ourselves comfortable at a nearby table and waited for our dinner. Sadly, what arrived was NOT what we ordered. The most i can figure is we recieved veggie and cheese heroes. Which is pretty far off from what we ordered. Tim spoke with the gentleman that took our order, he came to the table saying that is what we ordered". He again said that we "ordered the veggies". I explained to him that under no circumstances is that what we ordered, we ordered the gyro sandwiches, fries and drinks. Again, he stated that we ordered the veggies then turned and walked away. No effort whatsoever to remedy the situation, no apologies, not even a gee I must have misunderstood you. No customer service skills whatsoever, absolutely disgusting to treat a paying customer this way. While disappointed Tim ate his, but Chloe and I left hungry. So we leave our hard earned money there but we still have empty stomachs. We came back to Hillsborough and sought out our gyros from a local place. read more

Pretty good pizza but slightly on the pricey side. I got the lunch special that was 2 slices and a drink for roughly $8.50 The bottom of the pizza was nice and crispy. The sauce and cheese weren't spectacular, but were decent nonetheless. Crust was also not too hard but not too soft. They had Cheerwine at the soda fountain! Bonus points for that. Disgusting & rude. I called in an order for two pizzas. When I walked in, they were taking care of a customer. I noticed a burnt pepperoni pizza out next to the oven. I was hoping it wasn't mine because it was getting cold. An older man standing next to it started PICKING HIS NOSE. At that point I was grossed out but hopeful that my pizza was already boxed. Then that same man started picking pieces off of the pizza with his bugger picking fingers. At that point I was convinced that it was his pizza and not a customer's pizza. When it was my turn to get my pizza, I paid and they handed me a boxed cheese. Then they boxed the gross bugger picked pizza and tried to give it to me. I immediately said I did not want the pizza because the guy had picked his nose and then touched my pizza. That guy started to yell at me calling me crazy and liar. He made a scene saying that I was trying to rip them off. I left the disgusting pizza behind and just took the cheese pizza that was already boxed even though I paid for both. Just to prove a point. The garlic knots are fantastic. What's best are the subs. Chicken and cheese or veggie and cheese (ask for spicy) are best. Now, for the service. It's a family place and they do their best, but they're not always the fastest. They can be gruff too. But if you're friendly and have some patience, they're the nicest guys in the world. They have tons of regulars and that's because they like getting to know their customers. Still, if they get hit hard by a rush and don't have enough slices made, you might find yourself waiting 15 minutes for your order. The people who don't like the service are the ones expecting to get in and out every time. But if you're willing to chat them up or call ahead, you'll fall in love too. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!! What a difference a year makes. I found a metal ring in my lasagna!!! I took it back and Mike(I think) was rude and basically blames it on me until I showed it to him. "Oh, that's from the end of the meat that I use". What!!! "Oh I guess I'll give you your money back". You think? I really should call the health department, I'm lucky I didn't break a tooth!!! First of all I paid $17 & change for 2 plain slices and an Italian hero. The hero had 2 slices of meat cheese and lettuce oh & oil & vinegar. So basically I had a piece of bread with oil and vinegar.
