Fresh out of the oven!
Kong L.

If you're craving a high-quality pizza, this place is a must-try. The bread and toppings are top-notch! The pizza itself is larger than expected, perfectly balanced with sauce and toppings. It was so filling that it took me two meals to finish it alone. The honey drizzle was the cherry on top!

Pizza Cornicione in Hillsborough, NC, offers a pizza experience that stands out for its authentic Neapolitan flair and commitment to quality ingredients. Beyond the delicious pizza and salad, the servers were absolutely terrific. When you walk in, you're greeted by not only a friendly employee but also with the unmistakable aroma of wood-fired dough mingling with fresh toppings, hinting at the care they put into their pizzas. Their pies are made with an expertly crafted, airy, and slightly charred crust (classic leopard char)--what they call the "cornicione" (Italian for "crust"). It's perfectly puffy with just the right amount of crisp, which complements the toppings without overwhelming them. Some may claim it is thin but that is the nature of these delicious Neopolitan pizzas. It has a nice puffy crust and is served with some perfect chili oil on the side. We had both the Pepperoni and Applewood Smoked Bacon & Gouda which are a must-try, showcasing the basics done to perfection: bright San Marzano tomato sauce, creamy fresh mozzarella, and fragrant basil leaves combined with other ingredients that bring everything together. The sauce is balanced and not too acidic, while the mozzarella has a creamy melt that pulls you in for every bite. You will that their toppings are high-quality. Tne decor is wonderful inside and outside with a wonderful outdoor patio with great lighting as you will see in the photo. We think that Pizza Cornicione might also offer seasonal specials that rotate based on local ingredients, adding a fresh twist each time you visit. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to suggest the perfect wine or beer pairing from their thoughtful selection. We will be back and highly recommend this as a great pizza that stands out from others in the local pizza business.

Unfortunately the crust was too thin and a decent sized hole formed when we finished baking the pizza at home (as instructed). Flavor was nice, and the cheese was far above average.

Early Barber appointment in Hillsborough had me looking for breakfast soon after and Yelp reminded…read moreme of The Village Diner that was conveniently on my route back to the office. Not having the time to sit down and enjoy the meal (which I kind of regret after arriving to pick it up); I placed the order through the TOAST App and it was a very easy, straight-forward menu and ordering process. I went simple with a B-Y-O Biscuit of sausage and egg with a side of home fries. I really appreciated the choices of egg style on the biscuit customization menu and went with scrambled for this one. All of that washed down with a simple black coffee. Ten minutes later and I'm at the restaurant that's an easy, short jaunt from downtown on King Street. It occurred to me then that I'd been here once before when it was in the whole building but that was years ago. The new space is cozy, with a down-home feel of mason jar light fixtures, vintage signs, and just a nice diner vibe. A few minutes after arriving, I received my order and was out the door, pleasantly happy with an affordable breakfast in my hand. The food was excellent, the sausage tasted almost local, and the egg was perfectly cooked and proportioned. The biscuit was perfectly baked, slightly fluffy, with a buttery flavor that complimented the sausage and egg. Next time, I'll add a spoon of blackberry jam or apple butter and I think it would knock it put of the park. The home fries had good flavor, but I forgot to ask for any condiments, so eating them plain was a bit of a frustration, but they had a dusting of spices that worked. The coffee was piping hot, fresh, and what I would call standard fare diner coffee.... but you're not here for the coffee. All in all, highly recommended and I will be back, though maybe for a lunch meal next time.

It have me a chance to chat with the owner or mgr, not sure which, but either way, nice guy. They have a pizza joint next door that's open in the evening. I'm not really into biscuits so had a bacon, egg and cheese on potato bread. I was surprised that it was a half sandwich, but Bread Shop bread is so big I guess that's why. It was very tasty, although would have liked the bread a bit more toasted. They make their own pepper jelly on site so had that on the bread. It's not too spicy, but does have a bit of a zing. What I didn't use I brought home. If I'm in the area again I'd def give lunch a try.

Our waitress was so kind and helpful as we were figuring out our pizza orders. We opted for the Funghi, Salsicca, Panna, and Margherita with added salami. When they served the pizzas, it looked like a wonderful collage of colors. It smelled so good, and it tasted even better! Each one of the pizzas stood out in its own way. The sauce on the margherita was so flavorful and savory, and the funghi pizza was very rich. But I would say the main star of the show was the crust. It was perfectly crunchy and chewy, and it wasn't too soggy. We demolished our pizzas at the end. The atmosphere was also light and bustling, with people sitting at the bar or the low tables with their pizzas. I would 100% come back to this restaurant!!

While there were some creative options available, I got classics. My salad was so large. It was difficult to keep it on the plate. The greens were delightfully fresh and thinly sliced cheese and candied pecans made for a dynamic taste experience. My margherita was sizable. The crust head just a hint of browning and it did come sliced. The ingredients here were quality. I did not like this place quite as much as the other Neapolitan place around the corner, but I don't have any complaints.

We got to sit next to the pizza prepper after it comes out of the oven: from cooking, to prepping, to serving is all handled like a well oiled machine. So it comes out deliciously hot, crust perfectly cooked, and all served with a smile. The pizzas were perfect as well as the kale salad we had and the delicate seafood soup in a light tomato broth. They got very busy before we left yet the guy responsible for getting the pizzas ready was chatting with me like he had all the time in the world. I begged them to open up in Boston and I would probably be there 2wice a week. This is hands down my go to restaurant when I am in Durham. The ambiance is perfect for the type of restaurant it is and the service was great. There is no pizza better anywhere in the world according to me. We went with my 2.6 year old grandbaby and the hostess went out of her way to make sure she had a high chair which took some doing to get it off the previous table. You have to go early to secure a seat. Mushroom pizza with arugula and the plain margarita with ricotta hit the spot.

We ordered the MVP pizza (skinny) for the what we thought would be a traditional sesame crust. Unfortunately the mass amount of black and regular sesame seeds extended from the crust halfway into the pizza and made it taste like I was eating a poke bowl rather than a pizza slice. I don't believe the sauce was correct on this pizza either this seamed like a regular tomato sauce as opposed to the vodka it was supposed to come with. As for the burger, this was very underwhelming considering its award winning title. Nothing much to it besides some decent beef and what tasted like a sriracha mayo? P.S If you are tipping using the pre-populated options at the bottom of the checks I would double check the math. We got two checks and one came out to over 20% on one option and under 20% on the other.
