    Fish taco

We walked in on a Wednesday afternoon and it wasn't too busy from what we could see, but it picked up fast. By the time we left the restaurant was packed. There aren't many tables inside but the restaurant is in two parts. They have what you see when you walk in which is like the classic diner vibe and then an additional bar area in the back. The food was fine. The kids burger was the saddest thing I'd ever seen the salad with an addition of chicken was also the saddest amount of chicken I'd ever seen. The fish taco special was really good with their homemade chips and the Fairview burger was fine. The best food they had was the fried pickles. Perfect sized pickle chips with a delicious batter! So good!! Overall it's a good eat for the money.

HOW WAS TODAY MY FIRST TIME TRYING THIS GEM OF A PLACE?!?! The atmosphere is exactly what the name suggests - a local joint where you get to enjoy DELICIOUS food and drinks. The service was top notch, very friendly staff right from the start. Ridiculously good prices for the portions served. Insanely, and I mean really, good tasting food. I'm running out of adjectives here, but you get the point. A MUST VISIT. LIKE RIGHT NOW. 1000/10.

Outdoor dining is available when the weather is nice. The restaurant serves local coffee and many local food items. We went on a Sunday morning. The restaurant was busy, but we had fantastic service. This is one of my favorite breakfast spots!

Terrible photo of the counter, taken from the entry through glass - apologies ‍

Dug the modern diner vibe and the emphasis on using local products. Service was ok I guess; the server seemed new, so I'll cut her some slack. Received a free beignet, croissant-like in texture and quite delish. Loved the Huevos Rancheros. The coffee from Dynamite Roasting Company and the Firewalker Chipotle hot sauce were fab, which was no surprise given the talent and careful craft emblematic of both these area artisans.

We met up with a friend who told us about this place so we went here to eat. Have to say it's a hole in the wall place that you have no clue what they offer. They have a decent sized menu to pick from too. The restaurant is attached to a gas station, set up kinda like a diner inside. To start we had fried green tomatoes. These were really good. Our friend told us everything is locally sourced as much as they can. They used to serve drinks but because they have the store next door they no longer do. I decided on a hamburger with onion straws. I couldn't eat it all. It was a good size burger along with the onions. We ate outside since our friend had his dogs with him so they could be with us. The waitress will come out and wait on you which was nice. The restrooms were shared with the gastation in between the 2 businesses. Over all we really enjoyed eating here and would go back, it's worth stopping here to eat! Great food!

AMAZING local gem. Hits all the criteria: friendly service; delicious food; fair prices; clean. Went twice in three days. Check out the pancakes -- huge, fluffy, tasty. And the local jam!!!

Would you believe me if I told you that this cute & quaint diner is located next to a gas station?? Stop in for some piping hot coffee and a delicious breakfast entree ranging from fresh items like fluffy pancakes, loaded omelettes, sandwiches, and B&G's! You can also order some lunch items such as a juicy burgers, packed salads, loaded sandwiches, thick wings, tasty quesadillas, and more! This is a fantastic spot to stop at while commuting from Asheville to the mountains & trails. You can sit outside on the patio or inside the diner. Highly recommend checking this spot out!

In my experience, if eggs "over easy" are cooked at too high a temp the whites become leathery. I know some people like that leathery white thing, but just not my preference. And no, the eggs being room temp didn't offset being cooked in too hot oil. The biscuit was doughy (maybe just undercooked) but I was able to eat around the edges of it and the edges were actually tasty. Sure would've liked to have had a whole biscuit tho! I know some people like to eat their biscuits at room temp, but just not my preference. I prefer them hot, I think they taste better. A hot biscuit also helps to melt the butter and at the risk of sounding like a prima donna the cold little bricks of butter I tried and failed to spread on it became a bit of a turnoff. The home fries seemed undercooked but I was able to eat a few. Nothing really special about them, just seemed like a potato chopped up and pushed around in grease. I did like the jam/jelly selection, nicely done. Some may wonder why I didn't complain or send this back. I had an appointment down the road and wouldn't have made that considering the initial order took 12 minutes from payment to plate landing on the table, so a re-do would've been??? no idea how long. Sometimes it's better to just tough it out. It wasn't busy, there was no line to order, about 6-8 patrons total in the restaurant. I was surprised at the wait, but part of that was my order getting crossed with someone else. The other guy who first got my plate shouted over to me that he didn't sneeze on my food, so that was nice.

Despite staying downtown, we prefer to patronize less touristy places and this was a great choice! Just a few miles away, this cozy busy restaurant earns its ongoing popularity. Wednesday offers $5 off a glass of wine which was a pleasant surprise. We were fortunate to find a last minute reservation and happily sat at the bar. California pinot noir and sauvignon blanc were very good and we appreciated the different vineyard selection. We decided to split our meal: Bang bang shrimp, different presentation with a spicy aioli smear on the plate which was a nice complement to the fried shrimp Roasted broccolini was tasty and not overcooked . Again, aoli requested on the side. Maybe it is a regional preference for aoli on so many items? House made potato and French fries were both very yummy Brussel sprouts were delicious, nice garlic chili type of glaze. Feta, meh addition for me Trout entree was fresh and we loved the red peas and sautéed greens. Glad we asked for the sauce on the side. Tomato coconut flavor was unappealing. That's fine in normal cold weather, but at 22 degrees the overhead heaters just don't quite cut it. I think this part of the experience could use a little revision. My wife had pancakes with vanilla syrup and sausage. I ordered the classic breakfast with eggs, grits, sausage, and toast. Everything was very flavorful. My only complaint was that my food was lukewarm. It seemed like my food may have been finished and sat for a few minutes while my wife's pancakes were completed. On a cold morning, I would have preferred a hotter meal, the grits weren't warm enough to melt the butter, and the toast was cold, so I didn't even attempt to butter it. That said, even with the temperature issue, the food was still very tasty, and given how cold it was outside, I'm willing to let it slide. Everything arrived quickly, and the restaurant itself is very quaint, set in an old home that is very clean. On our first visit, they offered chocolate chip cookies to go, and they were excellent! They didn't have any this time, but we'll be back again to try our luck. To those about to nosh, I salute you!!
