    Good morning Miami!

Classic diner vibe with amazing biscuits!! We came here with some friends for our last meal before hitting the road back home. The scene was everything I love in a diner, the staff was efficient and kind, and the food was fantastic. We came on a Tuesday and there wasn't a wait, but I understand that is very popular on the weekends and often there is a wait. Plan accordingly.

My husband surprised me this morning by taking me to breakfast somewhere we've never been but had great reviews. This place is deceiving. It is located on an abandoned hotel, looks run down, but has some incredibly delicious food. We didn't have to wait for a table at all. It's "seat yourself," so you walk in and sit down. Very convenient. The server was quick to attend to us. I ordered the French toast, and my husband ordered some platter with a bunch of yummy dishes (biscuits and gravy, eggs, corned beef hash and hash browns). We were both pleasantly surprised and didn't leave a bite uneaten. It took about 15 minutes after we were done eating to figure out that they didn't bring your ticket to the table, lol. You have to go to the register when your done and they will ring you out. My only 2 complaints were 1)how awkwardly close the register is to the door, you couldn't close your ticket without someone running into you coming in the establishment; 2) the server could have smiled a little, even half a smile would have sufficed. But she was efficient. It kinda reminded me of an old truck stop where a bunch of angry old ladies worked, but you still ate there because the food was too good not to. Lol. I would recommend this place.

Food was really good. They need more staff. Felt bad for the waitstaff. Waited 10 mins for a refill so I could finish eating.

You can tell that the menu is carefully thought out, and it was great they have several vegetarian options. I ordered the seasonal salad, the falafel sweet potato fries, and the arancini to share with the table. The arancini came out first - very crispy and well done. The current risotto is a corn risotto. The seasonal salad came out next, and it was delicious. The sweet potato fries with falafel was an interesting combination, but it worked because the tzatziki sauce was delicious with both the sweet potato fries and the falafel. As a vegetarian, it was great for protein as well. The reason I knocked off a star was because the service was not the best. They were very friendly, and it felt welcoming, but the food took a long time for it not being very busy and the server had a hard time giving suggestions. They also didn't come over for long periods of time, especially for the long waits for the food. But the food was really great!

They were out of several beers on the menu and another sample seemed flat when we tasted it. Didn't have the mixers for a Paloma why was also on the menu so we were getting a little disappointed. Burger and fish and chips were good but serving size was a little small for the price. Guess it's ok for a quick bite but personally won't be back, and doesn't live up to the ratings.

We went with the club sandwich with fries and the lasagna with a Caesar salad. Both were delicious. Portions are very good. Neither of us could finish the meals! Though we came at lunch time, we were provided with the dinner menu (so I guess it's all-day dinner on weekends). I ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes as a starter, which is served with feta cheese and a balsamic reduction. The tomatoes were thickly cut and ate a bit clunky. Because of their size, I think there was some steaming action going on, as the tomatoes were soggy on the inside. I always enjoy a balsamic reduction, and liked the flavor on the dish overall. They were heavy-handed with the feta. This was the first time that I had fried green tomatoes served with feta - I'm used to a fresher topping such as a corn salsa. Regardless, the batter on the fried green tomatoes was delicious - I have high confidence that any of their battered dishes would be equally satisfying! I opted to order the bruschetta flatbread as my entree. It was loaded with toppings - tomatoes, spinach, goat cheese, grilled chicken, and more of that tasty balsamic reduction. It's typically served as a starter, so this is another dish that's great for sharing. My sister ordered the homemade southwestern chicken soup. This is definitely a southern-style soup - think cream-based... almost dip/queso-like. It was also served with tortilla chips as a garnish. She also ordered a side of the rice pilaf which was a generous serving size for a side - we thought it would be a small bowl size, but it was a whole plateful. However, it was way too salty. One of their signatures is their Gyro Pita Sandwich, which comes with a side of fries. We were able to swap the plain French fries for their sweet potato fries, which are always a hit. The menu describes this dish as the real deal and hey- no complaints! The gyro was tender and flavorful and comes with tzatziki. This is a solid dish. Service was friendly but not super present. We would have to flag our waitress down for drink refills and weren't really checked on once the food came out. It's a pretty casual but also busy place, so I'm not expecting to be waited on hand and foot, but they could bump up the attentiveness a hair. Food and ambiance were good overall... nothing amazing, but it's a safe bet. Stone Ridge Tavern has a good variety of dishes offered on the menu. I recommend this place for large groups - there's something for everyone - and I was pleased with portion sizes.

All the food, like last time, was paced perfectly. Our apps and salad were not overlapped by my our entrees! And the rolls, c'mon! They're hot and delicious! We shared the onion strings app, tasted perfect and loved the dipping sauce. We also got side salads with ranch -- wow, you can tell it's made there, and just the right amount of dill in it! For entrees, wife and I shared the 14oz ribeye -- WOW, is it good -- with a side of broccoli. Good amount of marbling, perfect temp (medium), and juicy. MIL had the fried chicken, which was probably a 3 out of 5 for her. Only two of the four pieces were juicy, and to me it looked a little over cooked. We had no room for dessert, and the snow started coming down heavy, so we left after filling up. Make sure you don't assume anything with this place being in a strip mall -- it is sooooo good! See you again next year!

Another hiker and I decided to stop in as we got to town and have a late lunch. It had been a couple of days since we'd had town food and we were tired and hungry. The first thing I noticed was the wait to be seated. We waited about 20 minutes, and once we got to the dining area, there were several empty tables. Once we're seated and ordered, the food came out timely and was delicious. I had a cheeseburger and the cherry cobbler with ice cream. Day 2: Breakfast. Since the food was good, we decided to go back for breakfast again the next day. Again, there was a wait to be seated. We were a group of 5 so we expected there might be a wait. The waitress was friendly and our orders were placed quickly. it did take a while for the food to come out from the kitchen. I had a country breakfast plate with ham. Again the food was delicious. Day 3: Supper. We had a relatively short wait to be seated this time. We were seated and asked for some water. It took over 20 minutes to get the water. Finally a different waitress came out and took our order. I ordered the hungry hiker challenge. It is a cheeseburger with three 8-ounce burger patties on it. The menu says if you finish you get some free cobbler. While we were waiting for our food we noticed that a local who came in and sat down after we were seated had already been served and was done eating before our food arrived. I finished the burger, and some of the other patron's noticed and congratulated me. When the waitress arrived she asked if we needed anything else. I asked if the free cobbler came with ice cream on it. She said no, so I ordered ice cream to go with my cobbler. It was a peach that day. Again, the food was delicious. The main thing that I notice about the restaurant was that despite having great food, service was pretty slow. One of the hikers I ate with noticed that the waitresses seemed to have to seat the customers, take the orders, deliver the food, clean the tables, and handle the check-out at the end of the meals. It seems like the service would have been much quicker if they had someone handling the seating, check-out's, and possibly bussing and cleaning tables. The worst part of the experience was the long waits to be seated and for the food to come out. The food itself was great and I found the servers and other customers to be friendly. The furnishings were clean with a 1960's diner feel. Overall, I would hesitate to go back if I were in a hurry of any kind. If time is no object, the food is great.

Next time, I'm leaving room for pie. I don't believe we had just one waitress. It seems that in this quaint little Diner, everyone is looked after and checked on as a whole by staff. My Ball jar of sweet tea was never any less than half full, and that sweet tea was *chef's kiss*. We both decided on the meatloaf, and I opted for cornbread, green beans and pickled beets. I felt like I had been transported back in time and was being fed by my great great grandmother. Sounds a bit dramatic, I know. But I haven't had cornbread, meatloaf or beets like this in so many years. It did not taste like restaurant food, it tasted like home cooking. We're already planning our next little "run away from life and parenthood" to Hot Springs, and Smoky Mountain Diner is top of the "will definitely visit again" list. Thank you for treating us like family.
