As my friend and I were Door dashing up in the mountains of NC and we stopped at a TA travel center for some food. They had a restaurant called Country Pride and it was just like a IHOP or Denny's The decorations were cute for the holiday but the food was nothing to write home about. I had chicken Parm which is the same anywhere and my friend had the chili bread bowl which was cold. 3stars

My lunch at Country Pride really hit the spot after a long day of snowboarding. Got chicken fried steak, salad (already finished in pic), and hashbrown casserole for my side with sweet tea to drink. All were delicious, highly recommend!

Food was perfection. Came out quick. Decently busy. Waitresses were sweet & working hard. Portions decent. Price decent. Location good. Place is clean. REMEMBER TO TIP WHAT YOU WOULD WANT TO BE TIPPED. Ordered a second plate to go haha.

As a first time visitor to this part of North Carolina, Country Pride doesn't look like anything very impressive or special at first glance. It's connected to a truck stop and fuel station with lots of traffic in and out. After reading a few positive reviews, we chose this spot for lunch and left completely blown away by the food quality/price/value. For starters, the soup/salad bar was better than any chain restaurant salad bar I've ever had. A meal all by itself, really. Very clean, fresh and full of fruits/veggies and some unique items I've never seen on a salad bar. It was still pretty early in the day when we stopped (11:30ish) but a lunch crowd was quickly forming. This soup/salad bar is on a whole different level compared to places like Ruby Tuesday's, where I often go when I want to fill up on some veg. Country Pride's (amazing) soup/salad bar is included with (most) entrees. Speaking of entrees, they have a "special" they do on each day of the week. On Friday's, it's all you can eat whitefish (fried or grilled) with your choice of a side item AND the soup/salad bar AND as much toasted garlic bread you can handle. So. Much. Food. The price: 13.99. For all that. And the waitress was nice enough to offer me another plate of fish right before I packed up a to go box. The fish plate was outstanding. If they are taking a little bit of extra time to bring out your food, stay patient because it's definitely worth it. Good things take time, especially when they aren't pulled from a freezer. Will be returning very soon hopefully.

Good food, service is great. Try the pancakes, they are amazing. They are really good with butter and syrup, but it's just my opinion.

The beef patties were done perfectly- not dried out all, onions and cheese were great. I love crinkle fries and got a huge amount of- crispy heaven! The staff is really nice, attentive and kind. It's not a large spot, but very cozy. There is street parking and a lot across the street. I will definitely be back especially because the cakes look amazing.

Food was good with the country ham, egg, cheese biscuit being the prize. The ham was thinly sliced which was unusual but very good. I would put that biscuit in the top 5 I have ever had. They also served red-eye gravy and it was amazing. Everything else was average. Not bad at all. The gravy on the biscuit was served cold (probably plated too early waiting on the ham), the biscuit with the gravy was a little burned, and the hash-browns a little mushy. Our waitress was a treat. She was friendly and knowledgeable and entertaining. It was very cool to see her interacting with the locals in one way and then with the obvious out of towners (like us) in another. The restaurant itself was clean but run down like you would expect in a small town diner. I did not see anything dirty at all. The prices were also unbeatable. The whole experience was worth the trip and I highly recommend it. Cannot give 5 stars because some of the food was mediocre but I still would recommend swinging by if you are in the area.

The roadside-style motel is defunct with boarded up doors and broken windows but don't let that deter you. Just go to the back of the parking lot to the building with red shutters. There is a decent amount of parking with one handicapped space by the door. There are steps going up to the door, so bear this in mind if you are mobility-challenged. On entering, there is a small counter to the left with the cash register. We were greeted as we entered and told to sit anywhere. Seating is all tables, either two or four tops. While it is definitely an older building it is clean and bright inside. Our server came as soon as we sat down and took our drink order. She returned in maybe a minute with the drinks and took the food order. She was very pleasant and an obvious professional. The menu is fairly large but simple to understand. You can select one egg and then add whatever other protein you want. The eggs come with biscuit or toast, and grits or gravy, so it's easy to assemble the meal just for you. They also have omelets, pancakes, and French toast so you can easily find something you like. The food arrived in no more than five minutes. This was unexpectedly quick but everything was cooked as ordered and hot off the grill. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the sausage ordered with the eggs was hand patted. I would have preferred two sausage patties but the one provided was very tasty. The biscuits are obviously homemade. The sausage gravy had some sausage bits evident and I did add pepper (a personal preference) and it was very good. The Western omelet had all ingredients cooked in with the eggs. The hash browns were more like home fries and crispy on the outside and soft inside. There were not many people here when we were, but they did have several take out orders. Service was very good as was the food. This is certainly an instance of not judging a book by its cover and may be the most accurate description of a hidden gem.
