This place is a cute little store along with a restaurant and the staff here is super friendly! I was in town and was taken here to eat the southern fare in Canton! The mimosa and champagne was such a steal since it was $25 for a bottle AND orange juice which is unheard of anywhere else. (I'm from NYC so this would be $60) We tried the biscuits and gravy which was my partners staple, French toast, shrimp and grits and the pimento grilled cheese and tomato soup. The pimento grilled cheese and tomato soup was one of the best grilled cheeses I've had along with the tomato soup and it took me to another level of comfort. This sandwich is HUGE so I would recommend sharing with 1-2 people. French toast was also huge and it was so delicious. The shrimp and grits had TONS of small shrimp and was very flavorful and super tasty as well. All of the food was so flavorful and yummy there really was no complaint. You really can't go wrong with good southern food as it's straight to the point. You don't have to worry about leftovers as I ate all of mine pretty easily! read more

I was told by the person at the register that they do not use any seed oils! Which is a huge bonus. Thank you so much for caring for the environment and using compostable products. I love this sweet little breakfast/lunch shop in downtown. Abby does an amazing job with pastries, and the pimento cheese fried green tomato sandwich is the absolute best thing, ever. They have recently added some kids items to the menu which is a big win while I take my boys around with me. It's right down the road, so my wife and I decided to check this place out. Service-wise, it's friendly, fast, and I love that everything provided is local (although slightly bending the rules for soda, etc. with food would probably be fine). We really enjoyed the atmosphere as well. My wife tried the taco salad, I had the pretzel knots. She said hers was okay, but not great, and my pretzels themselves were delicious (although the mustard was on the spicy side). That could probably be improved with some additional knowledge in preparation, and is likely to get better over time (hint: mix the mustard with honey to dilute the heat and add some sweet to offset it!) It's worth checking out and I'll give them a second run, especially with everything being local, although there are some rough edges, as noted above, and the price is on the high side (for comparison, this is about the same price you'd spend at Dough Boys, but the latter will give you more and better food for the price). In the meantime, it's decent, but has room to improve. read more

Delicious brunch at this unique place today. The shrimp and grits were to die for: rich grits flavored with pimento cheese, delicious shrimp, and a bacon garnish. The French toast included three generous slices of a tender specialty bread, a creamy sweet drizzle, maple syrup, and topped with luscious sautéed apples. If I could give more than five stars I would. I had the meatloaf sandwich with potato salad as my side. It was by far the best meatloaf I have found in the area, and even the bread with it was delicious. And the potato salad, wow, you will not be disappointed, very good. I like that they also offer local product to purchase. To have a local restaurant that helps support other locals is a huge plus for me. It's a real "home town" type of restaurant. I bought a jar of the mustard, it has a bit of spice to it, but for me, that's what I want from a local mustard. I can get the boring stuff at any grocery store. And I bought the dog pretzels for my dog, she loves them, her favorite treat now. Even though I live in Waynesville, it is well worth the ten minute drive for me as the food, local product, employees, and atmosphere are all exactly what I want from a local restaurant. Pleasant, friendly and helpful staff in explaining the delicious-sounding options on the menu. The sitting area is clean and cozy and offers an opportunity to browse the shop section filled with unique and interesting items for purchase. Then came our meals. The french toast - huge portion; the turkey gravy and biscuit - hearty; the egg pie with greens - healthy; the egg casserole - everyone's favorite. Everything tasted delicious. you are wrapping up a trip for the books, scrambling around your rental to clean up the evidence of a good time. you need to get out of there by 10:00 and it's 9:50. why are there people here? why are they rushing you, you have time ! it doesn't matter. the big man always wins. no hot tub all weekend and megs car won't start ? if only there was some place that could make it all right. a place you could reconvene after the chaos. you type in "diner" into maps and you see grateful table. yeah that will do. crespo gets megs car started instantly (and no one is impressed) and you travel down the mountain, mouth watering head pounding from a hangover. you knew this would happen but you drank anyways. you needed to play relay to prove yourself to the ladies. you pull up; parking for days. no problem there. it doesn't look like a diner but more like a store and your friends begin nagging... just wait ! look at the other side of the restaurant there are tables ! self sitting, just how you like it. you order up front (no iced coffee, but that's ok, you like it hot baby that's how you like it big dog). you read the menu. not a lot of breakfast options you mutter to yourself, overpowered by the murmuring of sloan and bryn who won't shut up not even for a second. you've been thrifty this trip, maybe you buy a smoothie and a sandwich. i don't know i'm not god. you come back to the table and the young man brings you your food and another lady comes by with an agenda: she's a chatter. asking you where you come from like no offense but why do you care ? you want shrimp. nolan doesn't like ranch on his eggs, don't you know anything ? your smoothie is chunky but they never said it wouldn't be like you can't really get mad. it's good enough. come to think of it, everything this weekend was good enough. you take a ferocious sip and overcome the chunk of banana in the smoothie. success. there's nothing left to worry about or look forward to. you've peaked and you know it. there's nothing left to do but sit back and let billy drive you home. against all odds, even through billy's driving, you nod off as your shrimp and grits slowly digest in your alcohol ravaged stomach. read more
