Cute little coffee café connected to the thrift shop. Got a coffee and an amazing cinnamon roll here. Lots of seating. Bright and airy. Very clean. Staff is super nice and friendly. I recommend stopping in here getting a cuppa coffee browsing the thrift store and then coming back for a scoop of ice cream.

Love this place!!! Wow. Didn't realize how much the ministry at the Black Mountain Children's home was expanding! Super exciting stuff. Their coffee shop was right next to their own thrift store! The coffee shop was emulated much light and had lots of options for the holidays! I settled on a peppermint hot chocolate and it was delicious! Also the latte art was quite the finishing touch! You definitely need to check this place out!

    Tastiest waffle I've ever eaten.

That's fine in normal cold weather, but at 22 degrees the overhead heaters just don't quite cut it. I think this part of the experience could use a little revision. My wife had pancakes with vanilla syrup and sausage. I ordered the classic breakfast with eggs, grits, sausage, and toast. Everything was very flavorful. My only complaint was that my food was lukewarm. It seemed like my food may have been finished and sat for a few minutes while my wife's pancakes were completed. On a cold morning, I would have preferred a hotter meal, the grits weren't warm enough to melt the butter, and the toast was cold, so I didn't even attempt to butter it. That said, even with the temperature issue, the food was still very tasty, and given how cold it was outside, I'm willing to let it slide. Everything arrived quickly, and the restaurant itself is very quaint, set in an old home that is very clean. On our first visit, they offered chocolate chip cookies to go, and they were excellent! They didn't have any this time, but we'll be back again to try our luck. To those about to nosh, I salute you!!

The service was very friendly and fast, and I can truly said, it is where the locals eat. But... the food was just not that good - my husband and I were both disappointed. His fried chicken sandwich ($11) was 2 chicken fingers on a bun with a slice of American cheese and toppings. The chicken was like chicken nugget meat, not real chicken tenders. The fresh tomato slice on the sandwich was the best part. The fries were basic - crinkle fries. I ordered a pick 4 veggie plate. The fried okra and fried squash were pretty good. The green beans were fine, and the Mac and cheese looked and tasted just like box Mac n cheese. Overall, it was just ok. Honestly I'm a little surprised by the positive reviews. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? Either way, this will probably not be a repeat place for me.

You can also tell that the locals actually do come here, because almost every person who walked in was greeted by name.

We visited the deli/shop as the restaurant was closed. We stopped in to grab lunch. They have salads by the pound and premade sandwiches. Very limited menu. There's also the market that sells lots of unique and specialty brands, as well as local brands. They do have several bakery items such as cookies and some lovely looking cakes available by the slice. This is a boutique style deli/store so be aware that that vibe is also reflected in their pricing. Nice place to explore.

Their deli sandwiches were spectacular. We tried the caprese, turkey and chicken salad versions - all great. Full bar inside too for tipsy shopping. For breakfast we had egg sandwiches and biscuits and gravy - excellent, no notes. Staff and owners very friendly and efficient. Dog friendly patio was a plus (hi Cooper!). A must-go in Black Mountain.

We recently popped in yesterday after securing a reservation via Resy to celebrate our anniversary. Our waitress was fantastic, and they even provided us with complimentary bubbly half pours to commemorate the milestone. Between the two of us, we split the cheeseboard, Brussels sprouts (which are so unique, and one of our favs!), and the poutine. The cheeseboard really is a nice way to kick off the meal, and highly recommend it--so many goodies to choose from. I love how Resy also allows you to specify where in the restaurant you'd like to sit depending on availability--we went with the high top nook spot, which is really special/cozy for two people. Parking is a breeze--even if their lot is full, the post office lot/tyson lot is just a short walk (and it's still not paid parking anywhere downtown).

They took time to engage in casual conversation and created an atmosphere that felt personal and welcoming. A particular highlight was the owner's involvement throughout the meal; visiting the table on several occasions to personally describe each dish, which proved invaluable given our limited familiarity with South African cuisine. Ambiance: The setting strikes an ideal balance between relaxed and charming. We dined al fresco alongside the garden and farm animals, lending the experience a distinctive, unhurried quality that felt refreshingly unpretentious. The environment is well-suited to those seeking a genuine farm-to-table atmosphere without affectation. Food: The quality of the cuisine was genuinely impressive. The lamb chops were a standout -- cooked to a precise medium to medium-rare and seasoned with a confident, well-balanced hand. The dishes reflected the skill and experience of a kitchen operating at a high level, with clear attention to both technique and ingredient quality. Overall: Bush Farmhouse delivered on every front. The combination of superior food, engaged and joyful staff, and a relaxed, authentic setting makes for a dining experience that is as memorable as it is satisfying. This is a restaurant clearly operating at its best, and one we would recommend without reservation to anyone seeking a distinctive and well-crafted culinary experience.
