Another day, another opportunity to get coffee. With a chill in the air, we headed to dynamite. I ordered a large hot hazelnut latte. It was a comfortable place to drink & to visit. My drink was ready in no time, & I appreciated that it was full to the top. The coffee was rich & pleasant. The flavoring however was weak & not discernible. I am thrilled that I discovered this local WNC roaster while at Old Europe in Asheville. Their coffee was so delicious that we immediately drove to the roaster in Black Mountain. Their building is cute and cozy, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They even had two decaf espresso options to choose from, and we opted for the dark roast decaf. It is so chocolatey and delicious. We will be ordering in bulk and having it shipped to us. read more

This coffee if so good! I always get drip when I come, whatever is the lighter drip for the day. The porch is a great place to chill, and they have a large vinyl selection inside with a player and speakers. I've always had a good experience with the staff too. If you like really good coffee fresh from the roasters down the road, you have to come here!!! Also, they usually have the windows open in the warmer months, so you can get free smells just by parking in the parking lot! read more

Great little coffee shop just outside of downtown Black Mountain. Personally, my favorite coffee shop in Black Mountain--and that's not to throw any shade at the other spots, I think Dynamite is just THAT good. Easy parking and accessibility--you'll notice they even have a coffee grinds vending machine right out front, which is very unique. It's small/cozy inside, so you may have trouble finding a spot to set up shop if you're looking to camp out, but they also have nice outdoor space on a composite wood deck. I really enjoy their lattes with oat milk--typically I'm a simple, black-coffee man myself, but when I come here, I feel the need to treat myself! The staff always does a great job of being thorough with the orders, so be patient! read more

Stopped in to Dynamite Coffee for a Saturday morning brew. Small location with minimal parking. Some people parked too close to the driveway of the establishment so it can be hard to get in. The coffee was great! Very hot which I approve. I wouldn't say it's the best place in North Carolina but it was pretty solid. Pumpkin chocolate chip muffin was stellar though. read more

Dynamite Roasting is a unique little coffee shop. I love how they have bags of coffee in a vending machine outside. Inside there are lots of interesting records, cozy atmosphere, and wonderful smells of freshly roasted beans. I'm disappointed I didn't try their chai tea but will definitely be back next time I'm in the area. I got a bag of Suplicar to take home and my kitchen is smelling just like their shop! read more

I have decided that this is the best coffee in the world. Seriously, have you tried their incredibly delicious organic fair-trade coffee? I've been drinking their coffee every morning for about six months now and it has altered my taste buds (or my brain) because I have no interest in drinking other coffees any more. Not only is their coffee the perfect tasting coffee ever, they are a loving, community-based business who truly cares about taking care of people. They strive to have positive relationships with their coffee bean growers and roasters, their customers and their local community. And it really shows. 10/10!!! Incredible coffee, by far the best in Black Mountain. It's located in a small home and it's very vibe inside, feeling like a living room in someone's home. They have cool records playing and some limited seating if you want to hang. Excellent pastries and awesome service, I actually dropped my chai getting in my car and was ready to buy another, but they just gave me another on the house! So sweet. I used to go to the Dripolator down the street, but they've gone down hill since I was there a couple years ago. Cold to luke-warm cappuccinos and even their new logo SUCKS. Change in ownership? If you love coffee, you only need to walk in the doors of Dynamite to know that you've come to the right place! Tall, dark and strong in a cup {and possibly sitting across from you if you have a hot date}. I highly recommend a stop in Black Mountain and a visit to this roaster if you're headed to or from Asheville. With a beautiful view of the mountains from their lovely back porch, a full record collection with couches for comfort, the only thing missing from this coffee stop is free wifi. Get a drip of the day if you're feeling straight or a latte if you're feeling fancy [and be sure to take some home! Grab a punch card if you think you'll be back]. And the whipped cream on the frappe would be to grab a bite to eat from Gateway Eatery right next door. But you come here for coffee right, so here were our picks: Chai Tea - pretty good, especially when you use the natural sweetener Drip of the Day - the special roast of that day, "wonderful" exclaimed my wife. Vanilla Latte with shot Expresso- a huge hit with my son. Vanilla Steamer - a hit with my youngest. Hot Chocolate - ah, maybe should stick with coffee. Really fun atmosphere, nice friendly service. Dynamite is one of two locally owned and operated coffee shops in Black Mountain. The coffee here is consistently great. And they have local pastries in the morning - until they run out. The pastries are very good. The sticky buns are my favorite. The staff here is also local; and noticeably different from the staff at the mega-locations coffee shop that is also in town. (The other place is good, too. But when in Black Mountain I always go "local" since the local coffee places, especially Dynamite, is so good.) read more

I have been drinking dynamite coffee for years now. Many times I will order 5 pounds from the roaster and pick it up at the cafe for an extra discount. I generally like many of the coffees but for the life of me I can't understand why they no longer put the roast dat on the bags and put a " best by" date that is at least 6 months from the roasting date. Please go back to putting the roast date on the coffee like all good specialty coffee roaster should. read more

This place has a fantastic base from which I can see it soaring into a solid 5 star rating soon! Coffee, very good. Drinks are reasonably priced. Baked goods come from another place and the scone we chose was not finished between two of us. A bit lacking in salt and moisture and a solid 'eh'. Not a single sugar free syrup choice and only one flavored syrup choice and what appeared to be a house made simple syrup. They DO have nut milk, but charge 50c more for that. I never understand that, as I find cows milk to be as much if not more than nut milks and cows milk sours much more quickly than nut milks...so it can't be the loss factor. Baristas were friendly and engaging. Parking was a gravel lot, but plentiful spaces. Good amount of seating inside and a nice covered porch for entry on rainy days. This is a place I'd stop at again, but am looking forward to when it is a destination place instead of a 'happen to be next door' place. read more

I've been up since 4 AM and the Pisgah Pale hit me in the butt like bear tranquilizer. Swoosh, car please take me to the retail store. Yessir, right away. Cool little house with bold graphics - can't miss it! You feel like you've walked into the apartment of the coolest person you know. Pure unbridled coffee love for and in this place. I've been in the store twice, kinda aimlessly looking for a cup and a pound of beans and I always end up getting exactly what I never knew I wanted. People are kind, welcoming, and seriously knowledgeable about the whole process from brew to origin. I went in last week and picked up a pound of Yirgacheffe that is blowing my mind right this moment. Went today for some coffee to drink and take home to brew. I know how fabulous Dynamite is from drinking it at an Asheville restaurant and was looking forward to my first visit to their shop. Unfortunately our visit was completely colored by the barrista working there. Did not get his name but he was a very unhappy camper with a condescending and perfunctory attitude; very unhelpful in helping me decide which coffee beans to take home to brew. Apparently customers are a bit of intrusion on his day. Will come back one more time when I need more coffee to give Dynamite a chance to get some friendly help who make customers feel welcome. read more
