Back area for chilling

Penny cup is a really cute little business. They have many different coffee type drinks and they're made right then. The young man working was doing a really good job by himself. The restaurant was clean and peaceful. My friend got a drip coffee and I had a spicy mocha latte with oatmilk. Mine came with some cayenne pepper and chocolate, it was really good and not too spicy in any way. They have alternate milka, like oatmilk. The back area is open to sit and drink or chill. The wifi password is posted if needed. There is also a bathroom tucked in the back hallway. You need to bus your own table, there is a bin for dishes next to the trash near the front.

For me this is best Coffee Shop in the North Merrimon area. I hoped they would move into the old Edna's because the location is so great but they went right next to wonderful Scarlet Bee so that's good too. They already have two other places in town and deliver their roast to many others so I was pretty sure that I like their coffee also. The place is hugely different from the others, very light and hip looking , in contrary to the small and dark Roastery in River Arts or the comfortable, living room style one in downtown . The coffee is spot on though and makes me very happy. Dark , creamy espresso with fluffy, hot milk is all I need. Hey also have small , baked goods and bagels , very friendly people working there and tons of parking. I come back again and again

Rad latte was delicious and I was able to sub almond milk since I can't tolerate dairy.

Their menu changes seasonally, with all the bartenders contributing to its creation. They are also more than happy to make something special off-menu. And the espresso martini is the best I have ever had in my life! A huge shoutout to Eddie and Max behind the bar. They are fantastic at what they do and truly make the experience unforgettable. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, the decor is charming, and the overall vibe is just so much fun. Do yourself a huge favor and visit The Times Bar. You won't regret it!

Times Bar & Coffee Shop was easily one of our favorite stops in Asheville…read more We were visiting from Florida over the Fourth of July and stopped in for a couple of cocktails from the '90s-themed menu. Every recommendation was spot on--even the radish cocktail that I wasn't sure about at first! What really stood out was the hospitality. We spent some time chatting with who we believe were the owners, hearing the story behind the bar and talking about Asheville. Those conversations made the experience just as memorable as the drinks. If you happen to remember the two Florida ladies who stopped in for a bit, thank you for making us feel so welcome. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Asheville. Highly recommend!

We each ordered individually, but tasted everyone's dish. Beef Tartare: beautifully presented and well balanced. Served with fried saltines (seasoned with Old Bay seasoning). Wood Grilled Asparagus: perfection! Absolutely LOVED the sauce gribiche! Braised Rabbit and Nettle Cavatelli: I thought this dish was stunning. The texture of the cavatelli could not be better and the flavors melded well together. Lardon added savoriness while the pickled ramps balanced the palate. Soft Herb & Pea Risotto: loved this in terms of texture but needed a touch of salt. We added a pinch of their house special salt (mined from a 100 year old salt mine), and it did the trick! Wild Mushroom Tagliatelle: this was my favorite item, though also, requiring a pinch of salt. I really appreciated that the truffle oil did not overpower the dish (that's a pet peeve of mine). We were provided with some truffle salt to enhance savoriness, which absolutely lifted the pasta to another level. Service all around was attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend if you're in town!

There are creative dishes and drinks too. I came with my best friend for breakfast. I enjoyed their seasonal lemon latte. She got a cappuccino she liked. We shared the unique sourdough pancakes, they were good, but something we probably wouldn't order again. I loved how wholesome my avocado toast was. On weekends there is a long line leading up to the ordering counter, but it wasn't too long of a wait. Once you order and get your number, you find a table that works for you. When you're done you bus your table. There is a lot of street parking out front. I highly recommend checking this spot out.

It was the perfect weather, the birds were chirping and it was so peaceful. The food was great. I got the breakfast plate with two eggs, bacon, and sourdough toast with butter and jam. The sourdough was delicious, and the bacon was unbelievable. I also ordered a cappuccino that was good, but nothing special. The service was friendly enough, though not the most attentive. I'd definitely come back for the relaxing atmosphere and great food.

All Day Darling is a 2025 Michelin-recognized spot, and what a surprise and cute name!!!…read more While exploring near Grove Arcade, I searched Yelp for a local brunch place and found this gem. Like many cafés in Asheville, it's a self-bussing establishment, so guests return their own dishes after eating. The cafe is charming, with plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff were warm, welcoming, and food was very good. We ordered drinks which was okay...next time I'll opt for water. Luckily, the Buddha Bowl and the breakfast sandwich served on a perfectly baked biscuit, and both were fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. I even bought their after-meal herbal tonic a try--not sure if it worked, but like to try it to give my stomach more energy and room to eat!!!

I did expect a nice thick slice of sturdy grain forward artisan bread, capable of holding up a big scoop of avocado. In a good piece of toast, I always want that crunchy on the outside which gives way to a light and velvety inside. Instead, I was served was a smallish flimsy and thin slice of bread topped with smashed avocado that was heavily seasoned with salt and lemon. Feta is inherently quite salty, so note to the chef to adjust for that ;) I was pretty disappointed. the bread may have been hand made, but honestly it reminded me of supermarket bread (I'm sorry). Their baked goods are very good, I am a former baker so I'm a hard judge, so I was really hoping for a decent piece of bread, since with avocado toast has two main players: avocado and toast. You kind of need to get both players right. The side salad was medium, but I did appreciate having it because it was unclear from the menu if anything else would be served with the toast. Unfortunately , I did have to push aside a few slimy pieces of lettuce, but the dressing was very good and well seasoned. I do appreciate the overall vibe and service of All Day Darling, very positive atmosphere and seemingly happy staff. It was a Monday, and Mondays in the restaurant biz are often a bit chancy. So there's that.
