All Day Darling is a 2025 Michelin-recognized spot, and what a surprise and cute name!!! While exploring near Grove Arcade, I searched Yelp for a local brunch place and found this gem. Like many cafés in Asheville, it's a self-bussing establishment, so guests return their own dishes after eating. The cafe is charming, with plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff were warm, welcoming, and food was very good. We ordered drinks which was okay...next time I'll opt for water. Luckily, the Buddha Bowl and the breakfast sandwich served on a perfectly baked biscuit, and both were fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. I even bought their after-meal herbal tonic a try--not sure if it worked, but like to try it to give my stomach more energy and room to eat!!! read more

A friend recommended their avocado toast, so I ordered it. The menu specified the a multi grain bread, which, as someone who loves her fiber, got me excited. I did expect a nice thick slice of sturdy grain forward artisan bread, capable of holding up a big scoop of avocado. In a good piece of toast, I always want that crunchy on the outside which gives way to a light and velvety inside. Instead, I was served was a smallish flimsy and thin slice of bread topped with smashed avocado that was heavily seasoned with salt and lemon. Feta is inherently quite salty, so note to the chef to adjust for that ;) I was pretty disappointed. the bread may have been hand made, but honestly it reminded me of supermarket bread (I'm sorry). Their baked goods are very good, I am a former baker so I'm a hard judge, so I was really hoping for a decent piece of bread, since with avocado toast has two main players: avocado and toast. You kind of need to get both players right. The side salad was medium, but I did appreciate having it because it was unclear from the menu if anything else would be served with the toast. Unfortunately , I did have to push aside a few slimy pieces of lettuce, but the dressing was very good and well seasoned. I do appreciate the overall vibe and service of All Day Darling, very positive atmosphere and seemingly happy staff. It was a Monday, and Mondays in the restaurant biz are often a bit chancy. It's not often a breakfast spot makes its way onto my Michelin radar. So when I saw this bad boy pop up during my first trip to Asheville, I knew I had to check it out. I figured I'd have to get there right when they opened to beat the crowd. Then I hit snooze about a thousand times and stumbled in a few hours later. Somehow there were only three people in line. While the cashier at the counter cut me off after I ordered two items, telling me I was "going too fast"... I thought she was about to ruin my morning. Turns out she was an angel, guiding me to the light. She recommended The Standard, which I assumed was just a basic-ass breakfast sandwich, then told me to get it on the biscuit instead of the bread/roll/bun/whatever. That flaky, buttery, soft biscuit made me feel like I was in heaven. And don't forget the herb mayo--the cherry on top of one of the best milkshakes... I mean sandwiches... I've ever had. The lavender, fairy-dust, moon-water, up-your-ass spritzer seasonal special or whatever the hell it was... also delicious. Such an amazing way to start my day that when I told my friends about it, they immediately wanted to go for lunch. I RARELY, IF EVER, EAT AT THE SAME RESTAURANT TWICE IN ONE DAY. By lunchtime I felt like I should've been getting employee discounts. Hell, it was so damn hot in Asheville I bought one of their tank tops after breakfast... then came back wearing it for lunch like I'd worked there for years. I'll spare you the details of everything we ordered, but let me tell you this: not a single complaint. And that's saying something with the group of professional complainers I seem to have surrounded myself with. If you're reading this, lady at the counter--you were right. This place couldn't be more Asheville. It's a funky, southern eatery, kind of in the middle of a neighborhood. The line of people going in shows how great their food is. I ordered the Reuben sandwich, & their take on it was honestly one of the best I've ever had. The bread was beyond excellent. The pastrami was almost like a mild bacon. Their sauerkraut was reddened by beets perhaps, or maybe mild horseradish. And the sauces spread on the inside took the sandwich over the top. I also had an iced orange latte. Stopped in for brunch. I got the Reuben and my husband got the GF pancakes. The food was out quick and thankfully they were not too busy when we arrived. I loved the open air concept of this place. My food was delicious, however, my sister's partner ordered the same and his sandwich was much smaller than mine - definitely not consistent there. My husband liked the GF pancakes (he doesn't have a sensitivity, he just likes pancakes and they only serve GF). He was not a huge fan of the added cinnamon. Little bit of a line but it went fast. It was also a chilly morning so it was very busy inside. The staff ask that you don't grab tables until you have ordered, so the tables turned over fast enough and most groups seemed to easily get a table. The woman at the register was a rockstar. Stopped by All Day Darling for breakfast and tried the chicken and biscuit along with the standard biscuit. The chicken and biscuit was really flavorful and satisfying overall. The biscuit was thick and hearty, though at times it was a little dense and hard to swallow. That said, it was still delicious and clearly made with care. I just wish it came with a bit more of the aioli sauce because that really tied everything together. The standard biscuit was a perfect morning meal. I searched for trendy veg-friendly breakfast spot, and All Day Darling delivered. I have never seen shakshuka on a breakfast menu, yet here it was. I could not help but order it. It was delicious. Rich, mildly spicy tomato sauce with feta, two poached eggs, and perfectly air-fried (my guess) kale. It came with a side of pita as is customary. My husband ordered the patatas bravas - a hearty serving of quartered air fried potatoes with a drizzle of mildly spicy sauce; he added two poached eggs. He enjoyed it. He also ordered the banana bread - it was moist and flavorful. I only managed to get one bite. Hubby was boring and went for drip coffee, but I threw caution to the wind and ordered a golden mocha: espresso, chocolate, ginger, turmeric and oat milk. This was an interesting and rich coffee choice. I'd order it again. I'll be honest - this place was pricey, but it was also worth it. We paid $42 and left stuffed. The inside is fun (converted garage?), the folks are friendly, and they allow dogs at 5 dog-friendly outdoor tables. Another local gem I just kept meaning to get around to and finally *got* to! The patatas bravas is so good, so well seasoned, and so filling! Would need to get it to share next time haha. Would recommend getting the poached eggs with it--adds a lot to the flavor. The chai was amaaaazing. I love me my chais lol. The lady taking orders behind the counter was sweet, she had recommendations and was easy to laugh with. Seating was a bit cramped inside but there are options outside which was nice when moving about with a stroller. Parking is street, but there was plenty of it to be had just a ways down. The food smelled amazing so we made plans to come back Monday morning while everyone was at work or school. I had the Patatas Brava with added poached eggs and bacon. The bustling, light-filled environment and focus on Southern-influenced dishes reminded me of a superior version of the old Iron Hen in Greensboro. Though All Day Darling does keep busy, its line to the register (place your order, grab a number - they are friendly and efficient here) moves quickly, and there is plenty of seating. While I was tempted to order shakshuka, travel with something that heavy on my stomach seamed unwise, so I opted for The Standard (breakfast sandwich with a fried egg and herb mayo) with ham on a roll instead and paired it with a Golden Mocha (chocolate, turmeric, ginger, cardamon). My wife went with a Standard with avocado on a biscuit, and we split a piece of banana bread. All of the food cleared expectations. The breads and biscuits live up to their homemade billing. The creamy herb mayo was the perfect complement to the salty ham. The banana bread was as good as any I have ever made. Despite its bevy of components, the Golden Mocha was well-balanced and went down easy. All Day Darling is the kind of place where it would seem hard to go wrong. We stopped hear for breakfast around 9:30 on a Thursday. It was busy, but there was ample seating and the service was prompt. The food was absolutely delicious, my partner and I shared the Shakshuka and patatas bravas. The potatoes were crispy and the sauce was delicious. Service and ambiance worked out well like every time. I got the Darling Burger on a GF bun, which has herb mayo and a pickle. I also added bacon and removed the cheddar, and they gave me lettuce, which was not on the menu but still worked out. The meal was finished off with fries and a strawberry lime popsicle special. I was visiting Asheville on a few days r&r. An artist from the River Arts District recommended this place so I decided to give it a go. The food was decent & the service was fine, both get 5 & 4 stars but the vibe was one of entitlement. A guy a few tables over (we were outside on the front right padio) was on his elongated & overly loud phonecall all the way up to my meal & beyond & 2 ladies at a nearby table were quite loud . The servers did nothing to quiet them so I just ate in peace & left. It was an okay experience but I won't be back. If you're blue, this place is for you but if you're red, then don't waste your bread! I'm neither, I'm an anarchist that hates political vibe restaurants, sorry! I absolutely loved this neighborhood gem when I was in Asheville. The vibe is casual and welcoming - almost a Cheers environment for yummy, delicious food. There are indoor and outdoor seating areas. You stand in line to place your order at the counter and then your beverage is served at the counter (they call your name) and your food is brought to your table (based on your order number you place when you choose your seat). The hot beverage sleeves featured drawings from children, which was a fun little conversation piece. The food itself was clearly made with love. I was fueling up for a short morning walk before heading to the airport. The muffin was HUGE and the yogurt, granola and fruit was one of the best I've had anywhere (and I am a huge yogurt, granola and fruit person for breakfast). The hot food others ordered also was droolworthy. I know Asheville itself is a vibe, but All Day Darling is a vibe within that vibe that I would say is not to be missed. Man...this was an oops place. And we sure are glad we found it! We were driving home from Tennessee and decided to stop in Asheville for brunch. This is a super cute spot that we definitely will come back to. My wife had the thunderbird and wasn't wowed the way they hyped it up, however it was okay for taste. It could have used some more harissa and the chicken was bland. The fry on the chicken however was perfect. Crispy, crunchy and not dried out. Now the winners of this meal was the avocado toast and the yumyum drink! 10/10 for both! The avocado toast was so good, the portion was just right and the dressed greens balanced it out.
