Had high hopes for this place reviews looked good and place looked fun however..... ordered pimento with collard got plain pimento dip. Server apologized and said he would have it remade but we had waited a while. Ordered salad in a jar two items were missing from my selection!! Last thing may salad was brought to the table and at least another 10 minutes passed before my husbands sandwich arrived.. one of my pet peeves. Bring all food at same time rude to eat while someone else is waiting. Probably would not return. Sad to say.
We stopped in on a Saturday evening at 7:30, and waited about 40 minutes to be seated which isn't bad given the location and how busy it was. We were seated upstairs away from all the noise which was nice as we had our son with us. They have a decent kid's menu with your basic options (grilled cheese, chicken fingers, Mac and cheese etc). The egg rolls we ordered for an appetizer were okay, but I'd pass if we came back. We also ordered the big daddy or whatever it's called bbq board which honestly was way more than enough for two people. The baked beans had good flavor but was overburdened by the whiskey or whatever liquor is in them. The potato and pasta salads were very good as were the greens. With the board, you get a bit of everything including brisket, pulled pork, chicken wings, and bacon as well as the sides. We honestly could've skipped getting our son a meal as it was so big. Our server Bill was great, and very attentive. Overall, was very delicious and reasonably priced!
We had a great dinner! Such a big menu. They have bar-b-cut-terie boards and salads in a jar which both looked fun. My burnt end Mac was amazing and the waitress recommended extra burnt ends which was for sure the way to go. It was the perfect amount. Our waitress was super kind and helpful. Really nice atmosphere inside as well. We had to park a little bit away cause it was full but nothing crazy. I would definitely go back when I'm in the area.
Man it gets better every time we go! The food and service is always outstanding! We will always continue to support Daddy Macs! Sat outside on a beautiful sunny day!!! People were just chilling having drinks and conversations!
Kyle the bartender provided great service and ambiance was successful. I got the Brisket Potato Hash without cheese, consisting of Tasso ham and brisket, potatoes and bell peppers, pico de gallo, jalapeños, a fried egg, and finished with Cheerwine BBQ sauce. The dish as a whole was incredible, as the sauce was highly flavorful and the jalapeños gave a great kick. The meat was tender and the egg had a beautifully runny yolk. Overall, if you like spice, this is what to get, and this is how to dive into BBQ (with a little Mexico) in the 4th of July season.
Our local Uber driver recommended this spot and it did not disappoint! The interior is spacious and welcoming. There are TVs inside playing the local games and weather. I got the Down Home burger with mac and cheese on the side. My boyfriend got the slider sampler pulled pork, blackberry habanero chicken, and brisket. We got a side of curly fries to share. The fries were delicious with my burger. The mac and cheese was thick; you could tell it was made with high quality cheese, my favorite kind. My boyfriend thought the blackberry habanero sauce was too spicy but the other two were good. The size of drinks here are gigantic! Love the coke.
Really good food at a really good price for Asheville! We got the Mac daddy platter and had food for days. Brisket was perfect and the pulled pork was pretty good, just wish they had more bbq sauce options. Can split it between 3-4 people and it's 50 dollars, which is a good price between 3-4 of us. You can see the goodness in my picture..
Great place, great food, excellent service! Traveling on a Sunday and made a quick stop. Was pleasantly surprised. Enjoyed food at the bar with a great server, while watching tennis. Will stop here again!
We were visiting Asheville for the Memorial Day holiday weekend and decided to check out Daddy Mac's Down Home Dive. On the plus side, the restaurant was incredibly easy to find and they actually have parking available, which is always a massive win when traveling. Once inside, we were seated at a high-top table, and our server was very pleasant throughout the meal. We started with the collard green and pimento cheese dip, which was supposed to come out hot in a skillet. Unfortunately, as I started dipping into the center, the middle of the dip was still cold. For mains, my husband ordered a chicken sandwich with a side of mac & cheese, and I went with the grilled cheese with candied bacon and tomato. Both of our sandwiches had the same issue: the tomato slices were cut incredibly thick--at least a half-inch. It made my husband's sandwich really hard to eat, to the point where he just took the tomato off and ate the chicken with a knife and fork. My grilled cheese was fine, but that massive tomato slice was just a bit much. As for the sides, my husband's mac & cheese was on the dry side. Mine wasn't dry, but it didn't really have a ton of flavor. I totally understand that the restaurant is trying to go for a fun, modern twist on southern classics, but for us, the execution fell a bit short. It was nice to try once while in town, but I'm not sure I'd visit again on a future trip to Asheville.
For my first time in NC, this was such a great place to be! A mix between divey and casual dining. Great place to bring the family and enjoy live music on the weekend! Molly was super kind and gave me some insight on what to get. She recommended the drink in my picture, since she designed it. It's like a sweet old fashioned. The blackberry really stood out. Also the platter was such a great value. Brisket, chicken wings, sweet pickles, collard greens, mac n cheese, and potato salad for $35?? What a steal. I could cut the brisket with my finger! Shoutout again to Molly for hooking up my first drink for me. The hospitality was wholesome and if I'm down in that area again, I will definitely be visiting!
We sat on the patio with our pups, it was beautiful. Service was great too. We had chicken wings and the Mac and cheese with burnt ends!! The Mac and cheese is award winning and the wings were amazing!!! I had the saucy wings with cheer wine bbq sauce and my husband had the buffalo Smokey wings. Now for dessert we had the banana pudding....holy sh.... This was better than homemade!! Save room because this dessert is a must!! This is our new favorite place in Asheville!

The food was delicious! I ordered the Mama's Mac along with one of their seasonal beers, and everything was cooked perfectly. We sat outside, and the weather was just right. The atmosphere was clean and inviting, with a nice crowd, and they even had karaoke going on that night, which made it even more fun. Our waiter was great--very attentive, checked on us throughout our meal, and made sure we had everything we needed. Great food, great atmosphere, and great service. We really enjoyed our experience at Daddy Mac's Down Home! read more
4.5/5 stars. Our first time here, we were drawn in because of the BBQuterie board (genius idea, love it!!). Mama Mac (BBQterie board)- Brisket was cooked perfectly, but did not have much flavor or seasoning. Pulled pork was my favorite of what we had- that was seasoned wonderfully and cooked perfect. The wings (dry rubbed and smoked) were yum. Collards were good. Baked beans were good but super sweet. Cole slaw was nothing special. Pickles were super sweet as well. The BBQ sauces were great we tried all 3. Our favorite was the cheerwine one. They were out of 2 appetizers and potato salad which was supposed to come with the barbequterie board, so they let us choose what to sub it with. We picked cowboy caviar which ended up being okay, not much flavor there. The salad in a jar was good, you dump it into a bowl yourself. The jar was great because everything on the salad was portioned perfectly! Loved the chicken in the salad too. Only waited a few minutes for a table at 2:30p on a Sunday holiday weekend. There is an attached free parking lot and we were able to get a spot, but when we left there were no spots left and someone was waiting for our spot. There is street parking as well. read more
Driving by, my partner and I laughed at the name but it was very eyecatching and there were a lot of people and when we didn't know where to eat so late at night this place was still very busy! Their cod dip is very creamy and delicious, I love that it came with both crackers and toasted bread! My brisket Rueben was sooooo filling only able to eat one half and a hearty entree, collard greens were yummy with ham pieces and the brownie ice cream was massive and definitely worth it, highly recommend!! read more

I got takeout, so this review is purely about late night eats. I went to Daddy Mac's because there wasn't much else available. After walking around the city for an hour, I ended up where I should have started in the first place. Daddy Mac's is a sports bar on steroids. There were several TVs playing the national championship game and a massive full-service bar. It was loud, but not obnoxious. I got there as they were switching to the late-night menu, which limits the options, but provided all the pub highlights. Wings. Sliders. Nachos. Salad in a jar (yeah, I didn't see that one coming either). I went with the nachos, but swapped out tortilla chips for tator tots, and I won that night. No cap, I should have gotten a salad in the jar to complement the tots. Next time I'm dreaming bigger. read more
I will start by saying that both of us are a little bit spice whimps. That said the pimento cheese is for us a 6/10 on the meter. Everything tasted good but the spice did take away from the enjoyment and there is no note about the spice level. The rest of the dishes were both very good Just over powered. The deck is nice on a warmish evening and the service is very attentive. read more

Food was great! Well priced especially in a major destination. Just outside Asheville, had plenty of conveniently placed parking. It is also just a 2-3 minute drive from down town. Everything we ate was fantastic, and our waitress was good as well! read more
So fun!! Staff was super friendly and attentive. Everything looked so yum on the menu. We will definitely have to go back and try more items, and bring more people so we can pass food around to try. We were able to sit out on the patio and the weather was really nice. I got the nachos and the pork that was in there was THICCC, just the way I like it. The other dish that was ordered was the burnt ends Mac and oh my lanta. That was delicious!!! read more

My first time at Daddy Mac's. The restaurant was casual and relaxed. The staff were friendly and personable. I tried the Fish Camp tacos, pimento cheese appetizer and pretzel with beer cheese appetizer. All were delicious and I would eat time and time again. My friend ordered the Chicken Sticks with blackberry habanero sauce. Warning!! It was waaaay spicy. The waitress noticed my friends discomfort, asked about the food and offered to take it back to get a different sauce. The cheerwine sauce was much easier for her to eat! Several TVs playing games, stage for live music and outside seating. Overall great casual place to grab a drink and hang out with friends! read more

What an awesome experience! This experience was so good that i forgot to take pictures of everything, hahahahaha. However from memory, the place was spacious, bar was super spacious, seating was not tight so you are able to move around. There are a plethora of tele's all around the establishment so with college football being the first week, it definitely satisfies your "Football madness". The aromas coming from the kitchen coupled with good eating, good conversations, and great drinks makes for an irresistible experience. The service was awesome! Being not a local, i find that asking questions and your server is able to provide answers to them and be knowledgeable about everything is a PLUS!!! She was attentive to our needs and everyone else and i love seeing ppl who enjoy doing there job! THIS PLACE ROCKS!!! I will be back and you should check this place out if you are ever in Asheville!!! read more

Well I guess it lives up to the name "dive." It's just bar food in a slightly dirty resultant. You're greeted by their 90.0% health safety rating, which means they have some stuff going on. People seemed nice, but the tables are just a permanent state of sticky. Our waters came with lemons that were old and shriveled. And my "salad jar" was ok, but you could tell the lettuce was old. The smash burger sliders were just ok. The best thing that came out were the kids chicken sticks and mac and cheese. read more
For a Friday evening, my party of 12 got in after waiting for 45 minutes which wasn't too bad for a big party. They sat us at 2 seperate tables which was okay. The service was nice just a little slow. Had to wait about 45 minutes for our food. They also had music going on that night which was great to listen too. I got the chinese chicken sliders and they were hot and crispy. Honestly wish they had it as a sandwich on the menu. read more

Sweet Date night spot with the hubby. We ordered some drinks: Carolina Mule- love a good mule, this one had extra flavor with the cheerwhine syrup. Absolutely refreshing. My husband ordered the Daddy's Caddy Margarita which he enjoyed and said it was very strong just how he liked it. As for our meal we decide to get the Daddy Mac Board. The Cole slaw had a nice southern kick to it, the Pimento cheese is the best I've ever had, the flavor is absolutely delicious and spicy, the Cold pasta salad was okay nothing out of the ordinary, the Smoky potatoe salad was packed with smoky flavor, potatoes cooked just right, the Collard greens were a bit too salty for me so we didn't eat much of it at all. The Beans were sweet with big chunks of bacon giving it a nice unique flavor. The Brisket potatoe hash had some heat and soft brisket chunks. The Candied Bacon I would eat right away because it does get hard, loved this sweet fatty flavor. The Chicken wings were super crunchy very good seasoned and juicy inside. The Brisket was perfection-very fatty, juicy smoky and tender. The Pulled pork was soft with a touch of sweetness, not dry at all. Overall, I would highly recommend giving this place a try. Great service, delicious food and fun environment. read more

Stopped here after a long day visiting the Biltmore. I have the Pulled Pork and Gouda Grilled Cheese with a side of Mac and Cheese. The pulled pork was super tender and I really enjoyed the whole meal. The inside is super spacious and they have a nice outdoor deck/patio. There's a small parking lot which is nice since there's not a lot of parking once you get closer to the arts district up the hill. read more

Great place with a large variety of food and beverage options. This is a Sports bar with lots of big screen TV's on which to watch your favorite teams. Our server Grace was friendly and very helpful. The food is really good. In addition to a full bar, they have an agreement with Green Man Brewing, and will bring your beer fresh from the brewery across the street! There is lots of room, so bring your friends for a fun night! read more

How is parking?
Getting into the driveway might be tricky, apparently maybe people get into it by trying going over the sidewalk because it is confusing. I would just make sure to pay attention to the correct entrance or park on the street.
How is the banana puddin'? (I mean really)
I can't say because we didn't try it but the rest of our food was good!
