That sour sports bar smell! I couldn't get past it. And the water had a weird taste. The food was okay and service also. The upside were the giant windows that open to the street and the tarter sauce.

We loved this place. We actually sat for hours, people watching and watching Monday night football. We sat near the open window, which was perfect with a slight breeze. My son and I enjoyed the gameroom. Definitely a place to come and watch a game. The food was delicious. The pretzel, pictured, was huge and tasty. All of our food was delicious, and the prices are super reasonable. The beer list is great for German style beers.

Despite the name, this is not a German restaurant per se, but they do have brats and pretzels on the menu and some of the beers from their own brewery are German style. This is more of a pub or sports bar and the food is sort of upscaled pub food. The restaurant is much bigger on the inside than it looks like from the street. Good for a group on a game night. There are 2 or 3 different seating areas, plus a bar. The seating area along the street was great on a warm spring evening as they had the windows open and so it was like sitting outside along the street. The service here was friendly, helpful and efficient. The beer was good but not outstanding. The food was a strong good, maybe a 4.5, but not enough to get 5 stars overall. For appetizers we had great fried cheese curds. This is Asheville pub food at its best! We paired them with a couple of beers from their on-site brewery. One was a spicy pickle gose, which was as weird as it sounds. It really does taste like someone put pickle juice in a beer, then added a spicy little kick at the end. Fun to try, but we were glad we got just a 1/2 pint of this one. The other was their Into the Woods red ale that they do as a collaboration with Waynesville's Boojum Brewing. It was a good solid red ale. Our entrees were a wild salmon patty sandwich with regular fries, Bier Garden Haus burger with sweet potato fries and a couple Asheville hot honey fried chicken sandwiches also with regular fries. They make their own salmon patties, which reminded me more of a crab cake, but with salmon instead. It tasted good, but needed something more to hold it together. The patty fell apart several times while I was eating it. It also needed more of the Cajun remoulade and/or the remoulade needed more zing. Good, but not great. The burger on the other hand was very good. A nice, tasty piece of beef, with bacon, cheddar, blueberry BBQ sauce, fried jalapenos, pickled onions and their house aioli. That seems like a lot going on and it could have been too much, but it wasn't -- it actually all worked together really well and made a great burger overall. The hot chicken was described as medium heat, a combination of sweet from the honey and a pepper sauce of some kind. The buttermilk chicken breast itself was tender and tasty. One of our party thought the sauce was quite hot. They do show a pepper next to this item on the menu. So beware it has decent burn. The regular fries were good. The sweet potato fries were just okay -- a little too mushy. We had their Misfit dark lager with the entrees. It was good, but not remarkable in any way. So overall a strong good, but several things could still be better. We'll probably go back to try some of the other unusual things on their menu and some more of their beers.

These folks are amazing. We arrived at our hotel in Asheville, NC around 9:30pm. We were hungry, tired from driving, and we're told by hotel staff their restaurant would still be opened and serving until 10pm. Unfortunately the chef and staff decided to close the hotel restaurant right as we got there. So our restaurant quest began for the evening. Being a week day, most local restaurants were closing early as well. We we're told to check out the Bier Garden to see if they were still serving. We walked down the street to it, and when we got there the bartender told us their kitchen had just closed as well. As we began to head back to our hotel, one of their employees, Nathan grabbed us and said, "Don't leave just yet, let me take your order, check with my manager in the back, and we'll take care of you. Meanwhile, go up to the bar and let them know I'll start your tab. You can sit wherever you want" ... and sure enough they took care of us. I'm not sure Nathan's position at the restaurant, but he's definitely managerial quality, and his quality of customer service is rare today. I do highly recommend this place. The food is great and the staff is thoughtful and accommodating. We give a shout out to Katie behind the bar as well. Good food and good service. Highly recommend.

How could anyone give this place a bad review??? It's severely underrated! We were in the area of downtown Asheville visiting. The main drag was packed with 2 plus hour waits. We kept exploring and stumbled upon the Bier Garden. Several people arrived at the same time we did. The service was not bothered. They attended to us quickly and with a smile. Our server Fran was super friendly and helpful. We ordered the pork belly bites as an app, the Reuben and the bratwurst sandwiches. The fries and onion rings were really good too! The restaurant was very authentic and I don't normally include the restrooms on my reviews but they were clean and smelled good. I highly recommend you move off the beaten path and give them a try. We were very happy with our experience.

Wish they had flights with the amount of beers they have on tap, but it was fine. They had some smaller pours, 7 & 8 oz. Got some beers and then stayed for lunch. The chicken caeser wrap was good, but my goodness, those fries! Never really think about a side of fries unless they're amazing or suck, and these were an A+ batch!

MY sister and I ate here and we both ordered their fish & chips and a local Asheville Brewing Perfect Day IPA ($3.00 pints, can't be beat!). The fish was beer battered and not overly deep fried like some places where it is too crispy. The fries were nice and golden fried too. We asked for malt vinegar because that is the way to go with fish and chips. Definitely a good place to visit in Asheville after a visit to the Biltmore. Next time I'm back to visit my sister I will be stopping by again.

COME ON A MONDAY! If you come on Monday, they have $3 local pints as well as $8 smash burgers! My whole meal came to $11 and change. The ambience here is very welcoming, dogs and children welcome! They have some fun arcade games to play as well as a machine that gives change to play those games. One thing I really like about this place is that they have a good selection of cocktails, a lot of beer places here in Asheville don't have any.

Not pet friendly unless it's a service dog and you have a license to show that. That was the response I got from the manager.

We ordered ours $7 hamburger patties that came in a dog bowl. So special! The fries here are fantastic. Wish I would have taken a photo. Just the right amount of crispness and seasoning. It's kind of a curly fry and kind of a wide short steak fry. Definitely tasty. 5/5 stars! Kale Caesar salad was bland. Not enough cheese or dressing. Probably 4 croutons. I got an extra side of dressing but the taste was a bit off and didn't really help. 1.5/5 stars there. Lots of good choices in the menu. One person ordered a burger with fries and another got the figgy piggy pizza. All agreed it was at least 4/5 good. Pizza had a lot of arugula on it (easy to take off a bit) and enough cheese to feel like you're eating a pizza vs a salad on a plate. Pizza was big- could easily be split. Burger bun was fresh and cheese melted was just right and a little thick/crispy which makes for beautiful presentation. Drinks were solid with a good selection. Prices for all were reasonable/to be expected. Service was very good. Park using the Park Mobile app on the street or in the surface lot across the street or just behind the building. We were able to make a reservation and got seated right away, which was nice, however most people just walked in. Would love to go back!

The Brussel sprouts were good, though not as crispy as stated in the description since it was covered in sauce. The sauce was delicious though so I forgive. The arancini with the marinara was so good! I loved it. It was cheesy and full of goodness. I want to apologize because I devoured my burger as soon as it arrived and didn't get a photo of it. The smash burger was indeed a smash burger and it was delicious. The patties were cooked to perfection, the bread toasted to perfection, the pickles placed exactly right and the magic sauce applied. I loved it and I will come back to this restaurant for another. Our waiter was also amazing. Definitely a great entry into Asheville. Thanks Payton!

On the plus side, the restaurant was incredibly easy to find and they actually have parking available, which is always a massive win when traveling. Once inside, we were seated at a high-top table, and our server was very pleasant throughout the meal. We started with the collard green and pimento cheese dip, which was supposed to come out hot in a skillet. Unfortunately, as I started dipping into the center, the middle of the dip was still cold. For mains, my husband ordered a chicken sandwich with a side of mac & cheese, and I went with the grilled cheese with candied bacon and tomato. Both of our sandwiches had the same issue: the tomato slices were cut incredibly thick--at least a half-inch. It made my husband's sandwich really hard to eat, to the point where he just took the tomato off and ate the chicken with a knife and fork. My grilled cheese was fine, but that massive tomato slice was just a bit much. As for the sides, my husband's mac & cheese was on the dry side. Mine wasn't dry, but it didn't really have a ton of flavor. I totally understand that the restaurant is trying to go for a fun, modern twist on southern classics, but for us, the execution fell a bit short. It was nice to try once while in town, but I'm not sure I'd visit again on a future trip to Asheville.
