It's kind of a curly fry and kind of a wide short steak fry. Definitely tasty. 5/5 stars! Kale Caesar salad was bland. Not enough cheese or dressing. Probably 4 croutons. I got an extra side of dressing but the taste was a bit off and didn't really help. 1.5/5 stars there. Lots of good choices in the menu. One person ordered a burger with fries and another got the figgy piggy pizza. All agreed it was at least 4/5 good. Pizza had a lot of arugula on it (easy to take off a bit) and enough cheese to feel like you're eating a pizza vs a salad on a plate. Pizza was big- could easily be split. Burger bun was fresh and cheese melted was just right and a little thick/crispy which makes for beautiful presentation. Drinks were solid with a good selection. Prices for all were reasonable/to be expected. Service was very good. Park using the Park Mobile app on the street or in the surface lot across the street or just behind the building. We came here on a Thursday night after just arriving in Asheville. The cheerwine is exquisite. I cannot believe I never heard of this, especially when it was introduced in 1917 in North Carolina but a certain internationally known brand introduced it in 1985 and made it sound like they were the first to discover it. The Brussel sprouts were good, though not as crispy as stated in the description since it was covered in sauce. The sauce was delicious though so I forgive. The arancini with the marinara was so good! I loved it. It was cheesy and full of goodness. I want to apologize because I devoured my burger as soon as it arrived and didn't get a photo of it. The smash burger was indeed a smash burger and it was delicious. The patties were cooked to perfection, the bread toasted to perfection, the pickles placed exactly right and the magic sauce applied. We got seated outside immediately. The weather was nice so outside was perfect. I did nit see any heaters outside so may be outside is only for good weathers. Twisted Laurel in Downtown Asheville has been on my list to visit for a while. During the aftermath of Helene, I closely followed what was going on and the restaurant and businesses that stepped up to help. Twisted Laurel was one of the restaurants that provided free hot meals. There is an outside patio and inside seating but with the heat I chose to eat inside. Service was a little slow as my waitress was also the bartender. She was hustling and I wasn't in a hurry. It worked out well as I wanted to linger during the thunderstorm warning. It filled up inside so I didn't get to see all the artwork on the walls but I liked what I did get to see. I went with the white pizza and got it without onions. The pizza was really good and I managed to finish the whole thing. I was happy with my food and the experience here and this will be somewhere I will return to again. read more

Ok so the experience itself was chaotic, and very waterlogged. We brought our dog and were sitting outside when it started to downpour. Our server, Daniel, was so great at moving us to a more covered area and bringing everything to us. It was still wet, though vastly improved. We ordered a small pot of coffee and a pesto chicken personal pizza to split. It was DELICIOUS! They also have a dog menu, which is really cute, though we didn't order anything off of there. They brought out a bowl of water for the pup though, and I just felt like they were so kind and accommodating! Service was fast, food was good. We dined at Twisted Laurel a few weeks ago while vacationing in Asheville and had a pretty good experience. This spot is nestled in cozy downtown Asheville. We made a reservation for Saturday the day before for lunch and glad we did, because after arriving we saw it was packed. However, we were seated quickly and the host was very kind. Our server swiftly greeted us with waters and asked for any drink orders. He was friendly, but also made it seem at times like we were an inconvenience. Yes, it was busy, and yes, we had a toddler (a happy one too), but I have waited tables for many years and never had that attitude. I couldn't be sure if it was just who he was or if he was having a bad day. I always like to give the benefit of the doubt, but it's your job to do what you're doing, your job. Also, yes, this place was kid friendly as there were many other children there. On to the food! The food was pretty great. We started with the meatballs appetizer which was delicious and we all loved. My parents got the smash burger which they also enjoyed. I had a bite and have to say, it was juicy and perfectly cooked! I got the chicken gyro and again, delicious. My husband got the stone hearth pizza and they were able to accommodate him by just doing a build your own pizza with no dairy due to an allergy and it was absolutely delicious. My daughter got the grilled trout kids meal and I feel like this was the star of the show. We all had a bite of it because she didn't eat all of it and it was so buttery, well seasoned, and delicious. Not sure if this is on the regular menu, but it should be! We would definitely come back to Twisted Laurel. It was a great experience, although very busy. Again, our server was friendly, but not very personable and at times we just felt like an inconvenience to him; at the same time everybody has something going on so we always try to be understanding, but it is worth mentioning. read more

Wow. Just wow. I have walked by Twisted Laurel on many of my trips into town, and noticed it is always busy. Now I know why. Their chef knocks it out of the park. Very pleasant dining room with a huge patio (I'll be back in warmer weather). Despite being almost full the noise level was reasonable. Likely in part due to the ceiling having exposed floor joists for the upstairs that trap sound instead of reflecting it. The host quickly walked me to my table, and my server arrived as I was settling in. Lovely young lady, both knowledgeable and personable. I asked for a beer recommendation (I prefer amber and red ales) and she suggested a local Gaelic ale from Highland brewing. A perfect fit for my taste. It was part of Asheville's Restaurant Week, so even though I walked in with my heart set on the hanger steak from their online menu, I quickly switched gears and opted for the Short Rib on their specials menu. I started with a Greek salad that was wonderful, they have a delightfully heavy hand with the feta and olives, and the dressing was a perfect match. The short rib was beyond great - can I give more than five stars? It was falling off the bone tender, and the accompaniments took it to the next level, especially the cranberries and portabellas. Their chef is outstanding! All-in-all one of the best meals I've had since moving to Asheville two years ago. Very looking forward to going back and working my way through their whole menu. This place is super cute. Outdoor seating for our pet friendly families. The food was good and has Italian and Mediterranean styles. The pizzas are good personal sizes as well. Big enough to share if you grab an appetizer too. We ordered the combo gyro and a Mediterranean bowl. Both meals were good. We also got the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer which was delicious and I highly recommend those. Unfortunately, my entree was pretty cold by the time I got it. This was our send time visiting here (mid-June), the first being in 2022 with us and our 2 dogs. This trip to Asheville was more of a family affair, with my sister, brother in law, and their dog coming along too. Their patio is very accommodating and pet friendly. We did have to wait an additional 30 minutes past our stated wait time when we got added to the list, which is why I knocked off a star. I'm not sure if they forgot about us or had drastically given out the wrong wait times, but we walked across the street to the park and hung out with the dogs there and listened to the concert going on across the street to kill some time, so that wasn't too bad. However, we were really hungry and had thought we'd be seated before we were and would have found somewhere else to eat if we had known how late it would be. Eventually, we decided to walk back over to check on our table and then said they could seat us right away, which lead us to believe we might have been forgotten about us. Our server was really friendly (and I am 99% sure he was our same server 2 years ago, and if so, that must mean they are a great place to work and treat their staff well because we see a lot of turnover in the service industry) and gave us plenty of time to look over the menu. We each ordered different cocktails and they were delicious! I was so hungry by the time our food arrived that I forgot to take a photo before we started eating (I did snag one halfway through though), but my husband and I ordered the Pep Pep pizza and added local shrooms. It really hit the spot after a long day of walking around Asheville's steep streets with the dogs.
