Really cool place in downtown Ashville with awesome vibes and very friendly staff and great service. The restaurant was right behind our hotel and we needed lunch on a week day. We got seated outside immediately. The weather was nice so outside was perfect. I did nit see any heaters outside so may be outside is only for good weathers. The place is very dog friendly and has a separate dog menu as well. We ordered burger and chicken sandwich. The food came outside at the right temperature. The taste was nice. The beers were very nice. But availed all a very friendly staff and a great southern hospitality. I would come back here again.

Twisted Laurel in Downtown Asheville has been on my list to visit for a while. During the aftermath of Helene, I closely followed what was going on and the restaurant and businesses that stepped up to help. Twisted Laurel was one of the restaurants that provided free hot meals. There is an outside patio and inside seating but with the heat I chose to eat inside. Service was a little slow as my waitress was also the bartender. She was hustling and I wasn't in a hurry. It worked out well as I wanted to linger during the thunderstorm warning. It filled up inside so I didn't get to see all the artwork on the walls but I liked what I did get to see. I went with the white pizza and got it without onions. The pizza was really good and I managed to finish the whole thing. I was happy with my food and the experience here and this will be somewhere I will return to again.

Ok so the experience itself was chaotic, and very waterlogged. We brought our dog and were sitting outside when it started to downpour. Our server, Daniel, was so great at moving us to a more covered area and bringing everything to us. It was still wet, though vastly improved. We ordered a small pot of coffee and a pesto chicken personal pizza to split. It was DELICIOUS! They also have a dog menu, which is really cute, though we didn't order anything off of there. They brought out a bowl of water for the pup though, and I just felt like they were so kind and accommodating! Service was fast, food was good. If I lived here I'd certainly make this a regular hangout spot!

Our server was great! Food was amazing. Highly recommend the twisted fries and onion rings alongside the ranch and spicy aioli! Burger was super juicy and cheesesteak was meaty and cheesy

Wow. Just wow. I have walked by Twisted Laurel on many of my trips into town, and noticed it is always busy. Now I know why. Their chef knocks it out of the park. Very pleasant dining room with a huge patio (I'll be back in warmer weather). Despite being almost full the noise level was reasonable. Likely in part due to the ceiling having exposed floor joists for the upstairs that trap sound instead of reflecting it. The host quickly walked me to my table, and my server arrived as I was settling in. Lovely young lady, both knowledgeable and personable. I asked for a beer recommendation (I prefer amber and red ales) and she suggested a local Gaelic ale from Highland brewing. A perfect fit for my taste. It was part of Asheville's Restaurant Week, so even though I walked in with my heart set on the hanger steak from their online menu, I quickly switched gears and opted for the Short Rib on their specials menu. I started with a Greek salad that was wonderful, they have a delightfully heavy hand with the feta and olives, and the dressing was a perfect match. The short rib was beyond great - can I give more than five stars? It was falling off the bone tender, and the accompaniments took it to the next level, especially the cranberries and portabellas. Their chef is outstanding! All-in-all one of the best meals I've had since moving to Asheville two years ago. Very looking forward to going back and working my way through their whole menu. I do recommend reservations, as it tends to look busy every time I pass by.

This place is super cute. Outdoor seating for our pet friendly families. The food was good and has Italian and Mediterranean styles. The pizzas are good personal sizes as well. Big enough to share if you grab an appetizer too. We ordered the combo gyro and a Mediterranean bowl. Both meals were good. We also got the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer which was delicious and I highly recommend those. Unfortunately, my entree was pretty cold by the time I got it. We did wait a bit for our food and honestly, I think our waitress just forgot to give us our meal. Food was good but service is pretty slow. For the 2 of us, we waiting quite awhile.

Twisted Laurel is a great spot for delicious causal dining in AVL. Have been here multiple times and it's consistent. Was craving a salad and man did they not disappoint! Large serving, fresh ingredients, local brews and have a good bourbon selection. Philly was tasty. Fried Brussels sprouts are amazing.

This was our send time visiting here (mid-June), the first being in 2022 with us and our 2 dogs. This trip to Asheville was more of a family affair, with my sister, brother in law, and their dog coming along too. Their patio is very accommodating and pet friendly. We did have to wait an additional 30 minutes past our stated wait time when we got added to the list, which is why I knocked off a star. I'm not sure if they forgot about us or had drastically given out the wrong wait times, but we walked across the street to the park and hung out with the dogs there and listened to the concert going on across the street to kill some time, so that wasn't too bad. However, we were really hungry and had thought we'd be seated before we were and would have found somewhere else to eat if we had known how late it would be. Eventually, we decided to walk back over to check on our table and then said they could seat us right away, which lead us to believe we might have been forgotten about us. Our server was really friendly (and I am 99% sure he was our same server 2 years ago, and if so, that must mean they are a great place to work and treat their staff well because we see a lot of turnover in the service industry) and gave us plenty of time to look over the menu. We each ordered different cocktails and they were delicious! I was so hungry by the time our food arrived that I forgot to take a photo before we started eating (I did snag one halfway through though), but my husband and I ordered the Pep Pep pizza and added local shrooms. It really hit the spot after a long day of walking around Asheville's steep streets with the dogs. I definitely recommend stopping in for a pet friendly meal if you're in town with your pup!

Solid downtown spot for a midday meal. We waited out a torrential rain storm here back in July on my bachelorette weekend after a spa treatment in the morning and all of us were famished by 3 PM. Portions were impressively sized and there was something for everyone. Just a couple blocks from the AC Marriott.

We ate here twice on our trip and both times the food was delicious!! Service was slightly slow but it is very dog friendly which we appreciated!! Also, if you sit outside, you have a lovely view of the fountains at the park.

Incredible food and ambiance, and service was impeccable. Perfectly located in the heart of downtown.

My fiancé took me here for my birthday, and I felt celebrated every step of the way. Our server Laura brought us a complimentary small bite before the meal and after dessert. She also made dessert super special and was kind and attentive the whole meal! The food was all phenomenal, I couldn't believe it was all gluten free. It felt very fresh due to the farm to table nature of the restaraunt. We started with the cheddar biscuits, which were a hit. My short rib with polenta and roast veggies was delectable and a very generous portion! Finally, we ordered 1 dessert but they brought us a trio. I was wowed by the cheesecake and olive oil cake! I was in communication with Lindsay for over four months while exploring options for hosting my wedding dinner in their private dining space. Out of more than 10 venues and vendors we considered, she was the only one who consistently showed up with prompt, thoughtful, and genuinely kind communication. Every question I had--no matter how detailed or repetitive--was answered with patience and care. She made herself available through all my moments of uncertainty, which, as any out-of-state bride can attest, is invaluable. When we finally visited in person, Lindsay went above and beyond by accommodating us outside of regular scheduling. Her attentiveness and warmth never wavered. Planning a wedding from afar can feel overwhelming, but having someone like her in your corner brings a level of reassurance that cannot be overstated. Dinner itself was nothing short of exceptional. We were served by Tennille, who elevated the entire experience. She was engaging, knowledgeable, and incredibly personable. Every dish was presented with intention, and she took the time to walk us through ingredients , local farm sourced education and preparation in a way that made the meal feel curated and special. You can tell she genuinely cares about the guest experience--it shows in every interaction. After dinner, we visited their second location to explore their private dining options. There, we met Pierre, who matched the same level of service and hospitality. He went out of his way to not only show us the space, but also recommend local after-dinner spots that could enhance the overall experience for our bridal party. That level of thoughtfulness and big-picture thinking is rare. Bottom line: this team understands that they're not just serving food--they're creating experiences. If you're looking for a venue that delivers on service, communication, and unforgettable dining, this is it.

Fried bean paste is always a winner (technically lentils are not beans). The fritters were savory and the clash between their freshly fried texture and the cool dill-flavored dipping sauce and mixed pickled vegetables was quite robust. My salad delivered the promised crunch, and the shiitake shishito kabob had a wide variety of freshly barbecued vegetables, but unlike my appetizer this dish was missing an extra flavor touch. The main courses, however, were great. The mussels tasted amazing and the lamb was incredibly tender. Other members of our party got the salmon and chicken and spoke highly of them. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable but perhaps suffered from the table layout which was tight and tucked away in the corner, and as a result multiple things were spilled on us and dropped on the table when clearing up. We were also served a warm, flat diet coke, but to the servers credit she took care of it immediately and replaced it with something else. We were surprised to read Lauren B's review below who, by her own admission, spent her anniversary dinner eavesdropping our table. Even if what she claimed we said was true (instead of making up quotes), it is totally inappropriate. Our subjective opinion on a dining experience is ours alone and just because someone else's experience was different, does not make ours untrue. Lauren arrived long after we did, so claiming to know what we had said or to claim to know of our experience is bizarre behavior. Claiming to hear our table say "we should disparage them on yelp" is a flat-out lie and makes no sense if we had said that before the food even came out. Wanting to leave reviews on a restaurant is not abnormal and discussing the value of a menu item does not equate to not being able to afford something or wanting "cheap eats". It is ironic that someone who understands empathy would go online and make personal judgements about someone based on their own subjective experience. So I would take her review with a grain of salt.

We had the same server and she was absolutely incredible, didn't seem scattered at all but like a true professional. My husband had the chicken dish and he absolutely loved it and understood it did not come with sides but sides are available to order. My husband has very intense dietary restrictions and our server took plenty of time to articulate how the dishes are made and what accommodations can be made. Unfortunately, Nina seems to be looking for cheap eats at elevated dinner experiences. Tall Johns is a Michelin guide recognized restaurant, complaining about prices for a restaurant of this caliber speaks more of the diner than the establishment. If you can't afford the dinner, just say so!
