Mother and I, a love story. Their new curry chicken salad may be a new favorite. The curry isn't too overwhelming and the pickled fennel and onions are a nice bite to cut the fattiness. If you're looking to go enjoys glass of wine their hummus is a fresh snack that's great for a table of friends to share. These potatoes are a special on their dinner menu and they tasted like the adult version of a bag of sour cream and onion chips - in the BEST way. Forever and always one of our favorites!

Great Asheville Bakery and Cafe addition. If you think Asheville has enough bakeries for the population amount then you are wrong. The food was great and the staff were very nice. The Jambon Buerre and Lamb burger were magnificent. The vibes were great for a first date or brunch outing. Overall glad they are in Asheville!

Loved everything about this spot. Great music playing when you walk in, wonderful staff, beautiful aesthetic, and the food! And the wine! And the homemade bread! Every sandwich that we had was amazing - the Mortadella pesto sandwich, the Jamon Beurre, the Salmon Toast, and the non sandwich but very delicious quiche was a delight. The wine selection was expansive, unique, and I loved that they had retail bottles as well. We went home with the kale pesto focaccia, and it was so legendary. One of the staff members, Ashley, gave us a bunch of great suggestions for things to do while we were in Asheville and we ended up doing quite a few things on her list - The Arboretum (stunning) and South Slope Cheese (a long time favorite of mine) namely. Can't wait to come back in town and experience a few more. Mother will definitely be a repeat visit every time I come in town!

I had a good breakfast here this morning. With it being Father's Day I was worried about a wait, and there was a line that formed before opening, but I was able to sit immediately at the bar. I found street parking right out front but I could see this being more difficult if I had arrived a bit later. It's such a nice bright space and they have a good drink menu which I couldn't tell at first just from the website/Yelp page. I ordered a black coffee and the eggs and grits but there were lots of other tempting options (breakfast sandwiches, hearty salads, etc). Everything came out pretty fast and my breakfast was really tasty, seasoned well and the egg was perfectly runny! I'm not a huge fan of grits to begin with but I was in the mood to try for a change and it did not disappoint. The asparagus and collard greens were a great healthy and colorful addition. Service was pleasant, it was a tad bit on the pricier side but I would recommend for a fast, healthy and more upscale bite. @azfitfoodfun

Some of the best bread you'll have. Their sandwiches are excellent and can last you 2 meals. Not a lot of parking, street parking available.

Food beat my expectations and more I loved the French omelette with country sourdough bread. It had cultured creamy slightly salty butter which paired nicely on the bread. My wife really enjoyed her cured salmon on brown bread with pickled fennel. Saw some good looking bread hung out on the nearby wall. Service was prompt and friendly !

I am grateful I had the experience to come here post hurricane. They are completely up and running, and the food is better than anything I ever had in New York City. I can't believe the pricing for such exceptional high-quality offerings. My friend and I split the tuna tartar, and a steak tartar, both of which were perfectly presented - delicious and melt in your mouth. I had a lobster pot pie, and truthfully, I didn't get much of the lobster, but it was still excellent, and my friend had the pork cheek which was surprisingly fall apart slow cooker perfection. We tried two desserts, including a coconut ice cream and a hazelnut pudding. Oh! And the starting dish was some of their homemade bread that they make each day as they are a bakery first. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner who made us feel like we were old friends. Is a really interesting space worth looking around. Small and so I would assume long lines on busy nights, but we got lucky in being able to get right in.

The restaurant itself is very very small, but if you are able to get in it is SO worth it!! The menu is pretty small but every single thing we had was absolutely delicious. The staff also CLEARLY loved their job and were so friendly and helpful!

Loved our lunch here at Mother! We first showed up at their other location which is pretty much just a wine and bread shop, so the worker there redirected us to this location for the cafe menu with seating The aesthetic is so inviting, like modern meets countryside ---quiche: i havent had many but this is definitely the BEST I've ever had, fluffy and light! I only tried this because they were out of their house cured salmon but I'm glad I did (although I must come back for the salmon) ---mushroom toast: I wasn't a fan of this, but without us saying anything at all they brought out a 2nd one from the kitchen as they believed the 1st may have been made improperly. Talk about service! ---chocolate cremeux: rich and loved the addition of olive oil on top Bubbly wine the hubby ordered was so refreshing, would definitely come back next time we're in town. Note: they have a little outdoor patio/deck

Great indoor/outdoor location. Do not offer flavored coffee but have extremely high quality espresso/coffee. All of the food is delicious!

Cozy little spot with indoor and outdoor tables, outstanding breads and thoughtful, well-crafted cuisine. This is comfort food, elevated and served with panache. Having seen French omelettes on cooking shows, I'd wanted to try a restaurant version and this was the first I'd come across. Mother's rendering was exquisite; I can now discern that the other omelettes in my life, while not without merit and good intentions, have been Seikos. This, my friends, was a Cartier.

We love this place in south slope. They make their own bread and supply it to many local restaurants. Brunch is great and busy (in a good way). Great and affordable wine selections and the food is gourmet level. Lively music and an open window atmosphere compliments your experience.

Mother is such a warm and inviting spot, with an aesthetic that feels like the perfect blend of modern charm and countryside coziness. Their bread is absolutely fantastic--I'm still kicking myself for not bringing some home! The locally sourced ingredients are incredibly fresh, and it really shows in every bite. The service was wonderful, and I loved the communal dining experience. We sat next to a lovely family, had a great chat, and got a little glimpse into each other's lives. I initially messed up my order and didn't realize one of the sandwiches I picked had pork in it, but the staff was super understanding and quickly brought out a falafel wrap instead. My boyfriend couldn't stop raving about the lamb burger--it was one of the best he's ever had. The only thing I'd change is having the option to pick the bread for each sandwich, which would take the experience to the next level. Oh, and the coffee is absolutely amazing! It's locally sourced from a farmer who exclusively sells to them, which makes it even more special. We're already looking forward to coming back and trying more from the dinner menu - particularly the Sicilian pizza as was recommended to me by a friend!

Loved their menu as well. Although their mini cakes and other treats appealed to me as well, I opted to try their Taro Shaved Ice (they had 2 other flavors as well...think Mango and Mocha?). Well, their Taro Shaved Ice was PERFECT!!! The shaved ice was nice and dry, and the toppings (Boba, Lychee jelly, and Strawberries...even whipped cream on top) were generous and delicious! It's spacious but still manages to feel cozy and charming at the same time. The vibe is adorable and a little hard to pin down. It feels like a mix between English tea time elegance and a bit of Spanish flair. It's unique and really something you just have to experience in person. I ordered the fancy carrot cake and it was exactly what a classic carrot cake should be. The flavor profile was spot on. Not overly sweet, not bland, just perfectly balanced with that warm spiced carrot cake taste. Paired with a cortado, it made the perfect little caffeine and sweet tooth moment. A great stop if you're wandering around Asheville and want a cozy place to sit with coffee and dessert.

I liked the name so much because I was the type of person who used malaprops a good amount. It's extra charming because you're able to order something from their cafe while reading your book. This spot is deceptively huge. The different sections are very intentional and beautifully organized. I had an especially great time looking at the "Beautiful Books" section this visit. I ended up falling in love with a short stories book by Chips Hardy that I took home. I also adored their graphic t-shirts here. I am not a big t-shirt person, but always want more graphic tees, so was so excited to love this one so much. I had a really special experience with one of the booksellers here on my recent visit too. I could not find The Enchanted April in the fiction section and when I asked, one of the booksellers got really excited about the author and that book. She passionately told me how wonderful the book was. We were sad to see it was sold out, but suggested I check a bookstore a block over. The bookstore portion is really well curated with a nice "local" section featuring local writers and interest. I love checking out this section when I travel and there was a ton to dig into here. They also have a good sized kid's section most notable thing is how many books they offer with autographed copies. That means they seem to bring in a ton of writers which is so exciting for the Asheville community. Speaking of community, I peeked at their events calendar and it looks like they have a ton of book clubs in a variety of different genres that meet regularly. So no matter your interest (romance, science fiction, mystery, horror, etc) you can find a meetup. Some are hosted in store but others in local breweries, libraries, and other third spaces in the area. Excellent offerings across the board!
