    Cold brew with cream added
    Doretta W.

Cute coffee house with lots of options. The saving grace was a really good raspberry cream croissant. After that, the mocha was $6 for maybe 10 ozs and what tasted like hot cocoa. The cold brew was actually a little weak. The service was quiet and unhelpful .. actually socially removed.

Coffee was good but so tiny! Ask for a larger size if you want a nice sized cup. I ordered the egg and cheese and they heat it up after you order. It takes about 5 minutes. The biscuit is more of a cheesy bread. Barista knew his stuff but cashier had to ask him about adding extra shots. There is a parking garage for easy access.

The sweet vibe is modern chill and the pastries, from West End Bakery, are flawless. I always drink my brew strong and black but I ordered the Cesspool of Cinnamon, because how could you possibly not, and bam - it's in my top 5 coffee creations of all time.

Such a precious spot to grab some Joe, meet up with friend, work on the computer, and enjoy some normalcy again. My iced vanilla matcha was delicious, staff was friendly, And there was hardly a wait despite the amount of people in there. Parking is a bit difficult.

Such a cute spot. Super friendly staff, greeted with a smile and conversations by two separate baristas. They were out of the biscuit sandwich but their everything bagel with cream cheese was great (could use more CC). Brown Butter Carmel latte was delicious!

Holy moly their specials drinks never fail! The chocolate chip cook not so much. Mellow late afternoon vibe.

    Cappuccino (donut from elsewhere)

Nice little spot and super quick service. The cappuccino I had was delicious and strong, which I prefer! With the virus restrictions you still have to order outside so I didn't really get to enjoy the location but it looked nice inside. The staff were friendly and efficient. I just wish my drink had been a big bigger. Would recommend.

    Cinnamon Dulce de Leche Latte

Great, flavorful coffee! Ordered the barista's special which was a Cinnamon Dulce de leche latte with almond milk and WOW. Beautiful presentation, loved the addition of a biscuit as well. I'm so glad I paid this coffee shop a visit while in Asheville, the crowds speak to its popularity and great coffee.

5 stars for the coffee. I got 2 of their specialty coffee drinks-- they both had simple ingredients but lots of flavor. I didn't try any of the food so I can't make any judgements on that. The shop was cute, fairly quiet and always had numerous people in their working on their laptops, etc. If I lived locally, this would probably be one of my go to places!

High Five serves coffee and other speciality drinks plus food. My husband and I stopped to get our morning beverages, a chai for me and a drip coffee for him. During COVID-19 they are doing take out only and are limiting it to one party inside (max of 2) at a time. Our drinks were good so high five.

Iced chai and iced mocha were great!

Such a cute little coffee shop with great iced coffee and pastries! Service was fast and everyone was very nice !!

Excellent coffee shop. This is a good hangout spot for doing personal work, hanging with fiends or just hanging by yourself. Calm, cozy and comfortable. Clay took my order and was the friendliest barista I've ever met. His wit and personality is what I love about a small coffee shop. This feels like a true locals spot with the charm and customer service to match. Bonus points for this place being close to downtown but having easy parking. Try their iced matcha latte for something for something refreshing that isn't too overpowering with caffeine. Or if your want to caffeine try their cold brew and watch out, you'll be ready to run around the block after one.

Staff so very sweet and helpful. They had a wall of team member's fur babies around a sign about an April 7th fundraiser for Asheville Humane Society. Decaf latte texturally was great the bean flavor wasn't my vibe. On the day, we were leaving town we wanted to get a box of goodies for our sweet family members who had taken care of one of our pups so that we could get away for the weekend. The team was so marvelous in helping us put together this bountiful box of goodies. Which our family members immediately opened and enjoyed nibbles of all of the different flavors and items. We originally found them when one of our family members was having health challenges and could not have dairy or gluten. They have such a wonderfully inclusive assortment of treats for everyone in the family. Including vegan. Enjoyed people watching sitting on the patio and the dog scene is awesome. Really lovely chill atmosphere with delightful team. They do have restrooms for customers. You're able to tap and pay in addition to cash and traditional credit card purchase. Always a delight to visit.

Their espresso martini is probably the best I've ever had -- perfectly balanced, smooth, and dangerously easy to drink. Every bartender here is incredibly knowledgeable. The bar itself is beautiful, with an impressive selection of spirits and a menu full of creative cocktails featuring ingredient combinations you'd never expect to work together -- but somehow they absolutely do. It's also one of the best places in the city to sit back and people-watch while enjoying a perfectly made drink. Do not skip The Times -- honestly, it's worth going out of your way to stop there.

We each ordered individually, but tasted everyone's dish. Beef Tartare: beautifully presented and well balanced. Served with fried saltines (seasoned with Old Bay seasoning). Wood Grilled Asparagus: perfection! Absolutely LOVED the sauce gribiche! Braised Rabbit and Nettle Cavatelli: I thought this dish was stunning. The texture of the cavatelli could not be better and the flavors melded well together. Lardon added savoriness while the pickled ramps balanced the palate. Soft Herb & Pea Risotto: loved this in terms of texture but needed a touch of salt. We added a pinch of their house special salt (mined from a 100 year old salt mine), and it did the trick! Wild Mushroom Tagliatelle: this was my favorite item, though also, requiring a pinch of salt. I really appreciated that the truffle oil did not overpower the dish (that's a pet peeve of mine). We were provided with some truffle salt to enhance savoriness, which absolutely lifted the pasta to another level. Service all around was attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend if you're in town!

It feels intentionally put together without being fussy, the kind of place where you can savor a slow morning or catch up with friends and still hear each other talk. Coffee and vanilla lattes The vanilla lattes were beautifully balanced: smooth espresso, creamy milk, and a vanilla note that tasted more like a crafted flavor than a syrupy afterthought. They were the kind of drink you notice sip by sip--no bitterness, no burn, just a clean, rounded cup that shows how serious Rowan is about its coffee program. Pastries: apple brie galette The apple brie galette was a standout, layering gentle sweetness from the apples with the subtle richness of brie in a flaky, buttery crust that felt more like a bakery feature than a "typical" coffee shop pastry. It paired perfectly with the latte, giving that sweet-savory bite that makes you slow down and actually enjoy breakfast instead of just grabbing something on the go. Pastries: apricot pistachio galette The apricot pistachio galette was equally memorable, with bright, tangy apricot lifted by the nutty crunch of pistachios, again in a delicate, well-baked crust. Together, the flavors were sophisticated without being pretentious--approachable, interesting, and exactly what you hope to find in a city known for its food and drink. Service and overall impression Service matched the quality of the menu: friendly, patient baristas who clearly know their craft and are happy to guide you without any trace of attitude. Rowan Coffee is the rare place where the coffee, food, and atmosphere all show the same level of care, and after vanilla lattes plus an apple brie and apricot pistachio galette, it becomes an easy "don't miss this" recommendation for Asheville.

One thing that stood out to me right away: the barista pulling espresso shots while weighing each pull from start to finish. That level of precision is exactly the kind of detail that makes a coffee nerd like me smile. It shows they care about consistency and dialing things in, not just pushing drinks across the bar. The shop itself has a really cool aesthetic -- minimalist but warm -- with a quiet corner vibe that makes it a great place to slow down and actually enjoy what you're drinking. I started with a cortado, which was beautifully balanced. The espresso came through clearly while the milk softened it just enough -- smooth, rich, and exactly what a cortado should be. Then I tried both of their seasonal drinks. Roses Are Falling (no mocha) was delicate and aromatic, with floral notes that felt intentional rather than perfumey. It was subtle, interesting, and really well composed. I also had the Hello Ruby, which brought a brighter flavor profile and rounded out the experience nicely. Both drinks showed a lot of creativity without losing the coffee itself. Between the precision behind the bar, the thoughtful drink menu, and the calm, stylish space, Rowan is a standout coffee stop in Asheville. Definitely a place for people who appreciate the craft behind the cup.

The sourdough pancake is the star of the show, even though I haven't actually ordered it for myself yet. I'm not a sweets person, and the pancake is savory and just a little sweet in the perfect way. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, thick and able to hold up to syrup without getting soggy. This review is combined from my first visit in September 2024 and my most recent in early April 2026. My wife got the pancake both times. I got the croque madame the first time, and the breakfast sandwich (sausage, egg and cheddar on an English muffin) the second time. The croque madame was phenomenal. The breakfast sandwich was good, but not my favorite. I'm not a huge fan of cheddar--especially sharp cheddar--on a breakfast sandwich, and the tomato aioli, caramelized onions, and the actual sausage patty, were a little too sweet for my liking. I could see others liking it, though, so definitely worth a try. I'll definitely be back to work my way through the menu a bit more. My cousin swears by the avocado toast, so that might be next!
