I didn't have the best experience. Ordered a baked good item and a sandwich. No one brought me the fritter and I waited 20min+ for the sandwich. I had to go up and ask for the baked good and if they had my sandwich. Others were served before me even when they came after. Then they delivered my meal to the wrong table. The man who brought me the food was apologetic but that was all. I understand things like this happen but would have appreciated more attention. Ordered a small cappuccino with two shots. Got a latte. Asked for a remake and got a latte again. I was told it is because oat milk doesn't froth. We all know oat milk froths like a cumulus cloud so not sure how they arrived at that idea. Also, you don't substitute froth for more milk or else you get ... a latte! read more

I absolutely love when I'm in Biltmore Park around lunch because I can sneak over here for some food. They always have cute things around the restaurant to look at, always have little freebies for the kids (we got a stamper today, but there were glow-glasses and dinosaurs and all this and that in there too), and the food is on point. Their menu has so much variety and everything I've tried with them has been so so good. We like to grab our food and eat outside if there's an open table, but there are plenty of seats inside. The people who work there are sweet, and don't forget your punch card! You can get one for smoothies/drinks and one for entrees. I gotta get my punches lol. The peanutbutter and jelly smoothie I wasn't sure about at first when they handed it to me, but it's surprisingly good! Now that chai though. *Omg* that chai though. Good service, super friendly, surprisingly quick. The biggest side salad (yay!) and everything was very fresh. Switched my bread from sourdough to a pretzel bun and really enjoyed my food! Kids meals come with a juice box and fruit cup. The hubs got the special BLT and said it was very Dijon-y... I tried it. The staff are so kind and accommodating and make the cafe feel at home. It's a cute little shop, not trying to be something they're not. I go here pretty often for lunch and if you go between 1130 and 1 it can be pretty busy. Mosaic is a far superior option for coffee compared to that Star.... Whatever place down the street. In the fall the outside tables are a great place to sit outside and enjoy lunch or breakfast. When it is cold the inside is pretty small and it can be hard to find a table. I recently had their chicken parm and the pumpkin apple soup. The food was tasty and I thought the price was really reasonable. I love that they offer a discount to the Western Carolina students too! read more

Was given a gift certificate some years ago with no expiration. Called and spoke with Dennis who said it was still valid. My mother is visiting in town and we drove across Asheville to enjoy this cafe. Was told quite rudely by Matt the owner that the certificate was not valid..even though it had no expiration and that this person Dennis said it would be okay. Poor management. Will not be coming back and will not be recommending to friends. See below for response from owner. To clarify...when I spoke to Dennis I never said it was from a year ago. I said it was from awhile ago. There is NO expiration on the certificate. This was not an Asheville Deal promotion that lasted two weeks. This was a gift from the radio station. There is no need for you to be rude to me about this. What you said was you would not take it because it was paper and that you only took cards now. This is poor business practice. We came over to go to the outdoor store, but it wasn't open yet so happened upon Mosaic Cafe. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but there is deliciousness to behold on the inside! I ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich which had cheese, sausage and egg...sounds simple enough, but good lord it was so yummy and I wasn't even that hungry! DH had the same but on sourdough (I think-I was in a zone). We both had Black Widow self serve coffee and it was strong and smooth like its namesake. There were several old dudes sitting in the cafe reading the paper and sipping coffee, so I assume it's a popular local spot. Great food, great service and perfect hometown feel. read more

This place is BOMB! I spend every morning in a coffee shop, both here and abroad (extensive traveler) as I have an internet biz. This place checks all boxes. excellent coffee, food(pimento bagel sandwich!) atmosphere but most importantly, the vibe. I eat lunch here frequently, so my review is based on multiple visits. - There's not a lot of seating room and COVID restrictions exacerbate this issue. I wouldn't suggest eating in for parties larger than four. - The menu has a lot of variety and the daily special is always different. - The food is fantastic. - My biggest issue is with the wait times. I usually wait 15 - 20 minutes around noon to get my meal. I'd suggest calling ahead if you're in a hurry. Wonderful alternative to a hotel breakfast, delightfully located on a tree-lined street in a fun little town square setting. Had the breakfast scrambler and I was happy to see bright, colorful, and fresh veggies and just the right amount of cheese. The presentation was really quite beautiful. My Americano coffee took a couple of minutes as it was made with great care. It was perfect, especially when enjoyed with one of their fresh baked items (oatmeal raisin walnut cookie). Came here for lunch with some coworkers and ended up getting a smoothie (berry one?) and a spinach wrap. The spinach wrap was just okay. It was kind of small, but I appreciated the amount of egg in it. There wasn't much of anything else in there, unfortunately. The smoothie was a bit weird tasting. I don't know if it was because of some sort of powder or the yogurt or something that they used, but it was not that great.
