Exactly what you want and would expect from a small town restaurant. We absolutely loved this restaurant. We went for brunch. The portions are HUGE! Very generous. Delicious. Not celiac friendly. The staff was very friendly

If you are in the area, this is worth stopping! Just a 25 minute drive from Asheville. We had the chocolate chips pancakes, which are humongous. Only order one! Two got the scrambler. Didn't get a picture but they demolished their bowls of hashbrowns, eggs, meat of your choice, cheese, and gravy. Egg breakfast with egg of choice, biscuit and gravy, added a side of bacon. So good and worth seeking out!

We came here while visiting Waynesville, NC, and after seeing all the great reviews, we knew we had to give it a try. We arrived around 10:30am on a Monday and were told there would be a short wait. I gave my name and number for the waitlist, and within about 8 minutes, I received a text that our table was ready--quick and easy. Both my boyfriend and I ordered the 2 Eggs Cooked Your Way, upgraded to hash browns, and added bacon. When the food arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the biscuit--it was massive, fluffy, and incredibly delicious. The eggs were cooked exactly as ordered, the bacon was perfectly crispy (as specified), and the hash browns were golden and cooked just right. Everything was fresh and tasty. A suggestion for the owner--your biscuits are outstanding, and pairing them with a house-made whipped honey butter would really elevate the experience. Service was fine overall--not bad, just nothing particularly memorable. There was a large party seated next to us, and since part of their group ended up at another table, they were talking across us. We volunteered to switch tables so their group could sit closer together. It seemed to slightly throw off the server's table assignments, and our server looked a bit frustrated at first, but they moved past it quickly. Prices are reasonable, especially for the portion sizes. Ambiance: Casual, bright, and definitely on the louder side when it gets busy. The dining area and tables were clean. Parking was manageable and could be challenging if the place is really busy. They had a few dedicated spaces for motorcycles. If half-stars were allowed, I'd give this spot a solid 4.5--but since that's not possible, I'm happily rounding up to 5.

I had spotted this place on the map while we were looking for a place to stay for our mini vacation. The name really stood out to me and I just knew we had to go!! Such a cute place and the staff were super friendly and inviting. The menu provided a little something for everyone. I choose the country folks and let me tell you, the biscuits and gravy - YUMMY - the biscuits were huge!!! The best biscuits and gravy I have ever had! My boyfriend had their pancakes which were as big as the plate! Everything was so delicious and definitely homemade. This place was worth finding and definitely will be back when we are in town.

What can I say about this business. I visited once years ago and it left such a great impression I was dying to try it again. I'm from Southern California and this is in North Carolina so to remember this place after all those years says something. Just as expected this place has not changed and I'm so happy! From the outside it looks really cool and hip but when you walk inside you actually feel home. The customer service is incredible. Everyone working there and even the customers make you feel welcome. Like that home town feeling and everyone knows your name. They really are famous for their biscuits. I don't know how they have them cooked so perfect but its literary a three tier biscuit. It's a little crispy on the outside ant the inside is soft like a pillow,They pair it with a side of whipped butter and it compliments it so well. I only ate the top layer and I was full. I also ordered scrambled eggs and southern grids and both were delicious but if you come here PLEASE TRY THE BISCUIT! You won't be disappointed. They do have seating for a huge crowd so just let them know ahead of time. I saw people with walkers, canes and wheelchairs so there's plenty of room to walk around in. The restrooms are handicap accessible and the outside is all flat. No stairs to worry about. It is very well lit. They have kid highchairs. They are very reasonable in pricing for food. They have a large open window where you can see them cooking your food so everything is exposed. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Don't let a crowded parking lot on weekends deter you, this is the place for biscuits and breakfast. Our table marveled at the size of the biscuits; some of ate on a single biscuit for three days they were so large! The grits were cooked to the correct consistency, server honored requests for crisp bacon, and the omelets were well constructed and filling. A tip: after scanning the menu, a person might discreetly stroll through the restaurant to glance at other diners plates :) to get an idea what to order. Service was prompt and effective, the vibe was cheery, and we will return.

I don't think I've ever seen a biscuit as large as the one that I received from this cute little diner. I came in wanting just a simple breakfast of eggs, some turkey, bacon, grits, and a biscuit. What I didn't do was look at the pictures when I started looking places up on yelp my server this morning was very kind and sweet. When she sat my plate down in front of me, I think my eyes must've jumped out of my head because what do you mean this whole biscuit is for me?? lol I enjoyed half of the biscuit for myself boxed up the rest so I could bring it back home to my husband in Virginia. This is another spot that I'm also gonna be returning to when I come back to visit. The interior is just simple diner set up with tables and booths.

We visited this extremely popular breakfast spot on the way home from Cherokee, NC. It's a very unassuming building, and we arrived about 1/2 hour before closing time...and it was still packed. The waitress said we were lucky because the line had been wrapped around the building all day long. This place is known for its wonderful breakfasts, but since we visited during lunch, I tried lunch items. My friend got breakfast items and pronounced the bacon the best she'd ever had. The biscuits, for which the place is named, are cat-head-sized. I could only finish half. My lunch was just ok. I had hamburger steak, but it did come with 3 sides, which is generous. The fries were delicious, I did enjoy the hamburger, though it was a pre-formed patty, but the veggies didn't have that Southern flair of seasoning we expect from country cooking. This place is great for breakfast, which they serve all day until close. Get that. Service was kind and quick. The restaurant is reasonably priced, and the tea is good. Make sure you visit!

Yum! Very short wait, they text you. Delicious coffee (and I'm known to be a snob!) the only challenge was trying to decide what we wanted to order! Everything looked great. Had a country folks breakfast was amazing... But too big to eat so I'm taking home part of it. My husband had the meat lovers omelette, which was also huge and very delicious. Our server, Olivia was fantastic. You can tell everyone here is a hard worker and takes pride in being here :-) Lots of tables great pictures on the wall and if you wanna see what the news is, there's even a TV in the corner. New favorite place we will be back again and again and again.

    Single biscuit and gravy

We were staying at the Lake Junaluska Campground and drove by the Buttered Biscuit one night. I told my wife we should try it when they opened, and try it we did. This was one of the best breakfasts we've had. I was going to order a double biscuit and gravy and the waitress asked if I was sure I wanted a double order, since the biscuit was big. I changed it to a single order with grits and hasbrowns. I'm glad I changed it to a single order because I just barely finished the single order. Everything was fresh and served hot. My wife ended up ordering three more biscuits to bring home. Couldn't beat the price $5 for a single b&g and $8 for a double order. Will definitely go back when we're in the area.

The Buttered Biscuit is a must try in Waynesville. This was our second time dining here for breakfast and it hit the spot. I had the strawberry short stack and it is delicious! They have outdoor seating but do not service outdoor so you can order to go and pick a seat. The patio is dog friendly.

This place makes huge yummy biscuits! The biscuits get five stars for sure. I think they call them cathead biscuits in North Carolina. The restaurant offers only those little packets of strawberry and grape jelly, which is a bit disappointing for something that otherwise could be such a gourmet experience. I ordered ham and cheese omelette (approx $12.). These are made in the French style with the fillings in the middle. I was very disappointed that the cheese was yucky processed flavorless "cheddar" cheese. That brings them down a point for sure. I had to scrape it away. The dice tan was just OK, too. The grits on the other hand were delicious and a real treat for this westerner (me). Plenty of free parking. Very nice waiter service. I guess I had coffee, but I don't even remember if it was good or not.

Two eggs over easy with a biscuit, the size of a soft ball cut in half with gravy, doused with hot sauce. Delicious!

Just stay home and fry up the Walmart brand of everything. The food was the worst we have ever had at a restaurant.

Absolutely phenomenal…read more No wonder they were rated one of the top restaurants in the southeast, and that's not just for breakfast places. This place does everything right! If anyone reading this wants to open a restaurant, I would highly recommend studying this place. Let's get to the good stuff. I was told I would have a 30-minute wait, and that's just for one--I always travel solo on a poker trip. Well ... almost any trip. Anyway, I explored the grounds and I found a large lawn, a creek, a bridge over that creek, a fake mill (I think it was fake), and three little birds (they were not at my doorstep). After this pleasant exploration that brought great peace and even the idea of moving to Maggie Valley to be closer to poker (and a pancake house), I was called in. The super friendly lady that checked me in told me it would be worth the wait. She was not wrong. So, check this out. Two big pancakes, perfectly cooked dry scrambled eggs as I ordered them, and the best bacon I have ever tasted was a total of around $15 before tax. That's a pretty good deal, especially for one of the best breakfast experiences of your life. My waitress was also superb. I won't mention a name because now that I stopped writing books and this is my writing outlet, some have jumped over and each Google review is getting 10k-100k views (not talking about photos, actual reviews). And then people speculate. I'm going to avoid all that drama. I might have made one mistake with my meal, but it depends how you view it. I went with the super healthy syrup. It's not called Super Healthy Syrup, but that's how I viewed it. I'm a gym rat and I don't eat heavy at all but I sure don't like boring. The pancakes themselves were excellent but I chose the wrong syrup. Now I know to go with the chemically-enhanced version. It's the rebel in me. Gotta do it. Last thing: atmosphere is amazing. Everything is spotless and perfectly spaced. Just so you know, you pay at the front. Extremely Highly Recommended! To have Joey's Pancake House and Frankie's Italian Trattoria right down the street from each other is something.
