We arrived just before noon, and thank goodness we did, because the place got packed right after we sat down-clearly a local favorite, and for good reason. The atmosphere inside is great and very welcoming. There were four of us, and everything we ordered was spot on. Our table had the Fried Chicken Deluxe, a 6-piece mild buffalo wings, a 1/3rd Cheeseburger Deluxe, and two of the Chilly Billy burgers (loaded with chili and slaw). Every single one of us loved our meals. We all got the regular fries, which were super good, but it's great to know they offer sweet potato fries too. Lucked up and found this burger joint connected to a Shell station off the highway. Staff is friendly, the restaurant was clean and had signs and posters everywhere. Everything came out hot and fresh. My husband had a cheeseburger and I had the Texas Traveler burger with fries. I wish we had time to eat at the restaurant but we were headed back to Charlotte. Service and ambiance was successful. I got the Greek Burger (consisting of Greek dressing, banana peppers, black olives, lettuce and feta cheese) on a GF bun, alongside Cajun fries. The burger was well-cooked, the bun was toasted, and the flavors were able to remind me of Greek cuisine. The fries had a slight crisp and the Cajun seasoning was enjoyable. Burger below average, did not seem like it was made fresh, maybe from frozen cause the texture was weird and the patty looked kind of gray. well done with not much flavor. Nice, soft bun. Wow... talk about a hidden gem. I feel like when you go to a restaurant attached to a gas station it's hit or miss. This place is one of the best places in Asheville. From really affordable amazing food to the small hometown dinner feel to the amazing service. We will definitely be back for many more trips. Also Roy the owner is a 1 of a kind. Our family chose to give Thunder Burgerz Grill as we were trekking from Arden to Canton. As a group, we tried a variety of items from the menu. The wings were great--they were crispy and saucy, but not soggy. The flavor of the garlic parmesan wings were my favorite. The hamburger was the ideal comfort food. The fries were delicious and perfectly cooked. The fried mushrooms were a bonus that really popped! The service was fabulous. Shout out to Donia and Sophie who took great care of us! They were patient as our large family debated over food choices, and they offered solid recommendations. Do not be deterred by the location being adjacent to a gas station! The kiddos in our group enjoyed the old cartoons on the tv, and the grown-ups enjoyed the memorabilia around the space. There are good deals daily, so give Thunder Burgerz a try. Filling the fast-food niche created by Dairy Queen's departure, Thunder Burgerz offers good variety at a fair price. A plant-based patty can be ordered with any burger in their line-up; as a vegetarian, I love this. They even offer a spicy vegetarian bratwurst, which I'll be trying on my next visit, along with one of their great-sounding desserts. My family and I went here last week and I got to say. It's was great!! First of all, everyone we saw that worked there was so sweet and attentive. They came over several times to see if we needed anything. The 50's style was cute along with them playing 50's music. They have a TV playing kids cartoons that my child enjoyed. Lastly, the food was amazing! It's not often my child finishes their food but she did! I got a salad and the Mac and cheese which were great, and my husband got their signature burger, had a nice kick to it and he was very impressed. Definitely recommend! read more

Meh? We got 2 burgers, wings, sweet potato fries, and onion rings. The fries were undercooked and inedible The onion rings were okayyyy; a little mushy and the onion did pull out a bit The black and blue burger was good, I'd have it again. The Thunder grill burger was pretty gross; I took maybe 3 bites then had to pass it off. My husband eats almost everything and couldn't finish it, either. The wings were probably the highlight; the lemon pepper wings were legit quite tasty. All in all: I probably wouldn't go back. And if I did, it would just be for wings. read more

My wife and I stopped here on our way home from Bryson City. I didn't get a photo of my food because it was so good I ate it too fast. I usually don't like places attached to gas stations but I've saved this to come back later. My boyfriend and I were on a trip for the renfaire and the woman who helped us was so kind and patient. Looks like a fast food place but she brought us our food and regularly checked in like we were at a restaurant. She was taking care of the entire room of customers really well. I had a burger with tater tots and he had a Philly cheesesteak with fries. Everything was so delicious! They also had a bunch of customizations you could do that other places dont always have and a lot of cute drinks you can get aside from regular boring soda. It was so cute inside too with a bunch of kid's drawings on the wall. It felt like I had just stepped into a small town diner. Definitely going to go back and sad that I can't remember the name of the woman who served us. read more

When we arrived it was adjacent to the gas station. Fine, there's a lot of great food inside gas stations but I have to be honest. This is one that just did not measure up to a good burger or even a chicken sandwich! It has potential to be good. The menu is extensive. The place was somewhat clean. I would prefer to see the tables and seats wiped down as patrons leave. It's not busy at all for that not to happen as second hand. I'm sorry but I do not recommend. I'd recommend McDonald's over this establishment- and we hardly eat at McDonald's, which says a lot. read more

We got delivery through GrubHub in Asheville, and on both our sandwiches featuring bacon, we asked for crispy bacon. Fortunately, my husband's WAS crispy and plentiful, as his was a BLT and the bacon was the star. Inexplicably, MY bacon (on top of a burger thankfully) was practically raw. Disappointing. The burger WAS cooked the way I wanted, so I'm giving them a reluctant three. Our requests for condiments were also only half-fulfilled. Do NOT get your food delivered because the restaurant pretty much ALWAYS gets your order wrong. You need to be there in person so that you can get it corrected and not be stuck with all the things that are wrong. I have ordered the same thing 4 times from this restaurant. It has only been correct once. What I have eaten is good, but it is frustrating never having the sauces I request (and pay extra for) or even the side item is completely missing. My wings were completely plain one time and weren't edible at all that way. I had requested twice the sauce be put on them and had paid extra for that. Instead, I received them with no sauce at all. I did contact the restaurant and have yet to hear back from them. This is the first negative review I have ever left in my life because I always try to work things out with the establishment first, but this is a little ridiculous. I let it go the first two times, but this time I had to post a negative review when I didn't hear back because the food was inedible. I paid $30 and wasn't able to eat any of it.
