Guys goofing off in front

First time for all six of us, and we enjoyed most of the food, the atmosphere, and the company. Two young ladies were our wait staff - pleasant and efficient. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch, and didn't feel rushed. Husband had the fried chicken sandwich. It wasn't as good as he hoped. It was a little dry even with added mayonnaise. In the middle of eating it, he switched to a knife & fork. His side salad was okay. I had the Cobb salad with greens, lots of chicken, sliced hard boiled egg, diced cucumbers & tomatoes, green pepper & avocado slices and picked onions. It was good - especially the chicken and avocado slices. I'm not sure what everyone else had, but most of us cleaned our plates. The desserts were delicious. Husband savored every bite of his coconut custard pie. The blueberry cheesecake was very good, but after a bite of the salted caramel cheesecake that a friend ordered, I know I should have had that. They were out of key lime pie which 2 friends wanted. They took bites of the two cheesecakes and two coconut custard pie slices. The service was exceptional. We'll definitely be back, to try other things on the menu, but especially for the desserts!

Daily specials board

This cafe is the welcoming gathering spot for this rural hamlet as well as a refueling stop for DuPont hikers and bikers. A chalkboard menu offers daily specials. Expect a mix of cultural cuisines here. Burgers and trout are staples on the regular menu. Prices are moderate and service is very friendly. Nice outdoor dining area too.

My second time at Cedar Mountain and it had been a few years. I thought perhaps I exaggerated how great it was last time in my head because I was so hungry after my long hike in DuPont. Nope. This time I went pre hike and it was still fabulous! Again, I sat outside in the cozy garden patio. Waitress was very attentive but also told us to help ourselves to anything we needed from the water or coffee station if she got busy inside. I ordered the huevos rancheros overly creamy grits -- such a mix of flavors and textures. Husband enjoyed the Mexican omelette and daughter enjoyed pancakes and grits. We were all impressed. I absolutely love this little gem of a restaurant.

Of all the places we ate in this area, Cedar Mountain Cafe was by far the one we enjoyed the most. Their food didn't disappoint. We ended up going there multiple times to try their menu for different times of the day (breakfast and lunch). Our service both times were very nice. We had the same waitress. The ambiance was busy and smaller in sitting compared to other establishments we visited. One tip to know is that your whole party needs to be there before you are seated. Parking when we went wasn't bad...you can find plenty in the back! They have a beautiful water fountain that mimics a water fall; very pretty for photos!

We visited the chapel at sun rise near by and needed to stop to eat something before heading back home to Jacksonville Fl. Everyone was super nice. The ambiance felt so homey, and the chilaquiles was fantastic. If in the area again I will be back.

I love you CMC. One of the most enjoyable experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. The food is freaking AMAZING, the service is outstanding, and I still have dreams about the gravy. I highly recommend the mountain man breakfast (or anything else on the menu for that matter). If you are in the area, or even within an hour range, you are quite simply doing yourself a disservice not eating at the Cedar Mountain Cafe. P.S. the t shirts are really cool too

Pisgah Bakehouse was a pleasant surprise. I was driving the Blue Ridge Parkway and heading to…read moreBrevard to get something to eat. Since Brevard is a small town, I wasn't expecting to find such a good bakery, but the baked goods looked delicious as soon as we walked in. In addition to the bakery items, they also have a dining room. Since it was between lunch and dinner, we were told to order at the counter, and the only things available were salads and pizza. We ordered a sausage pizza and a Caesar salad, which turned out to be the perfect-sized lunch. Both the pizza and salad were delicious. We sat in the otherwise empty dining room, eating lunch while I watched the bakers working in the back and kept eyeing all the baked goods. Before leaving, we picked up a few goodies for the road. Pisgah Bakehouse is definitely worth the stop, and I'm glad we found it.

When you pay $6 for a small pastry, it feels a little bad when they don't say "thank you" or "how can I help you" or "what would you like" ... more than once I've been here and had the experience that I'm bothering the employee just by being there. Bought a cardamom bun today and while I love cardamom this was still an overly strong flavor. Lovely texture, though. I had a specialty croissant a while back when I was in the area and left with it. It was uncooked in the middle so I called to let them know (thinking they would want to pull the remaining ones). Whoever I spoke with was appropriately apologetic and told me next time I was there to tell the clerk that so and so wanted me to have a replacement on the house. A few months later I was in the area again and was met with such hostility and skepticism when I mentioned the "freebie" that I wished I'd never bothered. As for the bakes? Everything really does look good. The lunch menu looks great although I've never had anything. The coffee is nice and strong. Prices are high, but that's everywhere.

I found this fairly quickly and it was an amazing choice. This place is located downtown and there so happened to be some type of even going on too. Parking was not horrible, as we parked in a lot that was around the corner. We had to order at the register and then someone would bring out the food. I ordered chicken and waffles for my kid and I (we each got an order of it). I got a side of bacon. The waffle was delicious! The chicken could've been seasoned a bit more, and the bacon could've been crispier but it was good. The Prices are GREAT and the staff were friendly. We were all satisfied.

Rather than sitting down right away, head up to the cash register where you'll put in your order and they'll hand you a number so you can pick any table that's available. On nicer days, they even have a couple of outdoor tables that you can sit at directly in front. Most importantly though, their menu consist of tasty crafted dishes, sandwiches, and salads. Make sure to try out their breakfast items too as everything we've tried on the menu has been worthy of writing home about. I'd recommend their Spanish styled rice bowls, but dive in an try something you might not otherwise order as we'll do on our next visit! Guten Appetit!
