We come here often since we live around the corner and it never disappoints! There is one thing that is evident about this place and that is that the servers are committed to excellence. I'm not sure what the owner did to find the people that they have, but every one of them are committed to the customers, and they work their tales off, which is unlike the younger generation of today. This quaint mountain cafe was the perfect start to our morning. We were greeted with hot coffee and friendly, attentive staff. Our husbands enjoyed feasting on the Mountain Man breakfast. I had the blueberry pancake which was perfectly fluffy. I really appreciated that they had sugar free syrup, which I often can't get when I eat out. First time for all six of us, and we enjoyed most of the food, the atmosphere, and the company. Two young ladies were our wait staff - pleasant and efficient. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch, and didn't feel rushed. Husband had the fried chicken sandwich. It wasn't as good as he hoped. It was a little dry even with added mayonnaise. In the middle of eating it, he switched to a knife & fork. His side salad was okay. I had the Cobb salad with greens, lots of chicken, sliced hard boiled egg, diced cucumbers & tomatoes, green pepper & avocado slices and picked onions. It was good - especially the chicken and avocado slices. I'm not sure what everyone else had, but most of us cleaned our plates. The desserts were delicious. Husband savored every bite of his coconut custard pie. The blueberry cheesecake was very good, but after a bite of the salted caramel cheesecake that a friend ordered, I know I should have had that. They were out of key lime pie which 2 friends wanted. They took bites of the two cheesecakes and two coconut custard pie slices. The service was exceptional. We'll definitely be back, to try other things on the menu, but especially for the desserts! read more

My second time at Cedar Mountain and it had been a few years. I thought perhaps I exaggerated how great it was last time in my head because I was so hungry after my long hike in DuPont. Nope. This time I went pre hike and it was still fabulous! Again, I sat outside in the cozy garden patio. Waitress was very attentive but also told us to help ourselves to anything we needed from the water or coffee station if she got busy inside. I ordered the huevos rancheros overly creamy grits -- such a mix of flavors and textures. Husband enjoyed the Mexican omelette and daughter enjoyed pancakes and grits. We were all impressed. I can't say enough great things to fully paint the picture here about how spectacular this little cafe is, but I'll confidently state that it is my favorite breakfast spot in all of WNC. I said what I said. My go to order is coffee with oat milk (sometimes oat is unavailable, but almond is available), juevos rancheros and a pancake. The chocolate chip pancake is my favorite, although last week the daily special was raspberry and there were whole raspberries nestled into the perfectly crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside pancake. The juevos rancheros has the perfect combination of flavors and textures and I'm all about it. Lunch here is excellent, too, and portion sizes are very generous. read more

What a hidden gem! After hiking in the morning, we were starving. Found this place and saw the reviews were good. The cafe is pretty and the patio with the waterfall was even better. We had a wonderful server. The food: I had the fried chicken sandwich. Maybe food tastes better after a hike, but that may have been the best chicken sandwich I've had. The chicken was huge and the breading was seasoned well. The server recommended the sweet potato fries, which were awesome! Hubby had the chicken wrap which I had a bite of. Sweet and a little spicy. Of all the places we ate in this area, Cedar Mountain Cafe was by far the one we enjoyed the most. Their food didn't disappoint. We ended up going there multiple times to try their menu for different times of the day (breakfast and lunch). Our service both times were very nice. We had the same waitress. The ambiance was busy and smaller in sitting compared to other establishments we visited. One tip to know is that your whole party needs to be there before you are seated. Parking when we went wasn't bad...you can find plenty in the back! They have a beautiful water fountain that mimics a water fall; very pretty for photos! read more

Today, however, was a disappointment。 We ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was pathetic - hardly any filling - a tiny amount of meat and no pickles. After a long morning of hiking, we were starving and so glad we found this place! It's a very small and cute diner and as soon as we walked in, we were welcomed by a very friendly staff and were seated right away. The first thing that caught my attention was their wide variety of food for being such a small place. I asked the waitress about their chicken salad sandwich and she was overly excited about how good it was so I had to give it a try. Perfect combination of mayonnaise and seasoning but they threw a little something different with some sweet chopped onions and it was phenomenal! I had never had chicken salad with onions but it really brought the sandwich together with their garden fresh tomatoes and just the right amount of lettuce. I paired it with their potato salad and wow it was great! My wife ordered the fried buffalo chicken and it was a massive pounded out chicken breast golden fried with a very good buffalo sauce on it. She had the sweet potato fries and they were thick and hand cut. My kids ordered burgers who both finished every bit and said they were really good. If you are near Dupont State Park and hungry you really have to stop by. We want to go back because they have so many items to choose from and everything looked great! read more

We stopped at Cedar Mountain Cafe after hiking in DuPont. We had our dogs with us. Their outside patio was cute but confined so they didn't allow dogs. There were picnic tables beyond that though so they did our meals as takeout and delivered them to us there. I had a chicken club sandwich which had chicken breast not deli meat. Delicious. Potato salad side was great as well. My boyfriend had the gluten free fried chicken sandwich which he thought was a tad dry. read more
