Pisgah Bakehouse was a pleasant surprise. I was driving the Blue Ridge Parkway and heading to Brevard to get something to eat. Since Brevard is a small town, I wasn't expecting to find such a good bakery, but the baked goods looked delicious as soon as we walked in. In addition to the bakery items, they also have a dining room. Since it was between lunch and dinner, we were told to order at the counter, and the only things available were salads and pizza. We ordered a sausage pizza and a Caesar salad, which turned out to be the perfect-sized lunch. Both the pizza and salad were delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat in the otherwise empty dining room, eating lunch while I watched the bakers working in the back and kept eyeing all the baked goods.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Before leaving, we picked up a few goodies for the road. Pisgah Bakehouse is definitely worth the stop, and I'm glad we found it.

Everything bagel sandwich w bacon, egg and cheese

So while visiting the mountains over the holiday weekend, I ended up here on Sunday and Monday morning for breakfast and it was pretty busy both days! The first day I ordered a tomato, pesto, goat cheese croissant and love it-the flavors were on point in that flakey croissant! I ordered a bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwhich on an everything bagel and it was ok-I had higher expectations, the everything bagel that I had seemed to lack the "everything" flavors and that was somewhat disappointing. Yesterday morning we ended up here again as it was on our way out of town and I ended up getting a potato and leek croissant which was delish! Both days I got a chai tea to drink and they were on point! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a good atmosphere with pretty good customer service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Keep up the great work!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]A really fun bakehouse that's located right on the fringe of Brevard.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you're looking for a great place to grab a cup of coffee or even a latte, they'll have it. They bake their items fresh daily with a variety of pastries, pies and breads to choose from. [[HIGHLIGHT]]With a modern mountain atmosphere and friendly service with a smile.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also have a later day operating schedule perfect for lunch or early evening meal, offering pizza, sandwiches as well as salads. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you're in Brevard, it's definitely a great place to stop, and it always smells really amazing when you walk in the front door![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking can be a little bit tricky as there is regular lot that is somewhat small, but they do have an overflow for those busier days! Make sure to check it out if you're in town or nearby. Guten Appetit!

Veggie Melt - Add arugula, mozzarella and red onion

This place is a must stop while in Brevard. Perfect for a morning bite or a post hike sandwich. I ordered the veggie melt and the person serving me was so helpful with suggesting ingredients to add. I chose to include arugula and red onion! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place has that local, natural ingredient smell and feel to the place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Bread is phenomenal, food is even better! Highly recommend!

This place bakes amazing bread! We've gotten French baguettes several times to have with some lunch meat, cheese and wine at the end of a hike in the Pisgah National Forest. We recently tried the 9 grain French bâtard and it was unbelievably tasty, especially toasted. We finally ate there for lunch. We had butternut squash soap as a starter (very good) and then split a chicken pesto pizza (more than enough for two with the soups as a starter). The pizza crust was exactly the way it should be: baked to perfection with just the right amount of air pockets. The chicken was tender and tasty. The basil was fresh and light. And the combination of mozzarella and gorgonzola cheeses took the pizza to the next level. It's counter service: the ordering line was well organized and moved fast. Food was brought to our table in a reasonable time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We ate outside at one of the patio dining tables, which was very pleasant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We'll definitely be back during future trips to Brevard, occasionally for the food, but anytime we are in the area for more of their amazing bread.

Perfect spot post hike to indulge in their pizzas and baked goods. Brought so many tasty treats home to enjoy later too. Very nice and kind staff. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice outdoor seating too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Brevard!

Whoa Nelly !! Y'all need to load up and head to the Bakehouse !! First of all , everyone is so kind. I had no idea what to get because everything looked amazing. I won't lie the Ham and Gruyère Croissant was looking back at me so I grabbed it and had them heat it up. Y'all !! So light and flaky and buttery. Sinfully delicious!! Chrissy checked us out and she was the sweetest. This is NOT fast food, it's amazing food. Plenty of outside seating with heaters . Some inside seating. I'm definitely going back !! 10/10

I made a table booking for me and my mother for a happy-hour meal after arriving in Brevard. We elected to have their early-bird set meal that includes a salad, a pizza to share, and a dessert. I'm a fan of their French pots de creme dessert. We're staying at the historic Pisgah Inn, so we have another drive ahead of us.

"i'm so sorry. they already put the pepperoni on half of the pizza, is that going to be okay?" of course! my friend is vegetarian and dairy-free she wasn't going to throw a fit. we assure her that's fine and she goes back inside to confirm. at this point, the patio has completely filled up with tables. my son is bouncing around demanding his pizza quite loudly, which is not polite or allowed while we are dining out. since there was so much going on, he was having a hard time using his listening ears, so i took him out front to explain to him- once again- that we do not berate or make demands of waitstaff. once he's calmed down, we return to find our friends looking quite puzzled by the three pizzas now on our table instead of the two we ordered. i ask "what's this?" they shake their heads and say they don't know what happened. now since i was not at the table at the time, i am not at liberty to say what happened during this interaction. i'm sure they protested that there was one pizza too many. i feel like the waitress probably apologized and offered to take a pizza off the table. my friends most likely were thinking it would go to waste (they hate food waste they are sustainable farmers) and said something along the lines of, "no! it's fine don't worry we'll eat it." again, i am paraphrasing since i was not present for this interaction. anyways, when our waitress gives my friend the check at the end of our meal, he immediately sees that there are three pizzas on the check and kindly reminds her we only ordered two. this is where things start to take a turn for the worse... cause she's gone a long time and when she returns, she does not look happy about the interaction she is about to have. she sighs and says "chef said since you accepted the pizza you need to pay for it." i interject- "absolutely not. i wasn't even here when the food was dropped. we are not paying another $30 for a pizza we didn't order." what happened next i can only describe as absolutely insane. after a long while, our waitress comes back looking absolutely defeated. "well, they made me say it was my fault, but she took it off your check." and hands my friend the updated bill. "thank you," i reply, "but is absolutely not your fault." enter val gerdes. chef and owner of wood & vine. she has left her station on the line at 7pm on a saturday night to come and confront us herself. "it absolutely isn't her fault," val agrees with me, "so tell me why you would accept a third pizza and eat said pizza and then not expect to pay for it." girl. are your margins that narrow? you can't cover the food cost of a half cheese half pepperoni pizza mistake that YOU made? how much loss is that? maybe $7? i went blind with rage at this point. i have worked with many chefs far more pretentious than you with ACTUAL credentials to back it up and never in their lives would they embarrass/debase themselves the way you did on your patio last night. did it feel good? did you feel powerful? did you go back to the line and gloat? what's it like to feel so insecure? how does it feel to know that your waitstaff hate you because you don't have their backs? yeah. maybe our waitress did mess up with our order. but you girl, you messed up with your life choices. i said i wouldn't be back. val, you said that would be great. i'm glad we agree. so now im going to make it my mission to let everyone know what a silly little loser you are by recommending MUCH better places to eat in the brevard area. all in all- i would recommend avoiding val gerdes and her restaurant at all costs. val- grow up. and have a great day 0/5 stars
