This place bakes amazing bread! We've gotten French baguettes several times to have with some lunch meat, cheese and wine at the end of a hike in the Pisgah National Forest. We recently tried the 9 grain French bâtard and it was unbelievably tasty, especially toasted. We finally ate there for lunch. We had butternut squash soap as a starter (very good) and then split a chicken pesto pizza (more than enough for two with the soups as a starter). The pizza crust was exactly the way it should be: baked to perfection with just the right amount of air pockets. The chicken was tender and tasty. The basil was fresh and light. And the combination of mozzarella and gorgonzola cheeses took the pizza to the next level. It's counter service: the ordering line was well organized and moved fast. Food was brought to our table in a reasonable time. We ate outside at one of the patio dining tables, which was very pleasant. We'll definitely be back during future trips to Brevard, occasionally for the food, but anytime we are in the area for more of their amazing bread. read more

IMPRESSIVE. We've been to this bakery/pizza shop/cafe twice now. After our first visit for bakery treats a month or so ago, I'm so glad we went back for a late lunch of pizza after a recent hike nearby. We're hooked! There's a decent amount of parking around the place and in a neighboring lot. The cafe has lots of seating indoors with an additional welcoming outdoor covered patio. Staff is friendly and helpful, and the selection of baked goods in the case and breads behind the counter is a feast for the eyes. I could easily go to town buying one of everything to take home, but I'd rather bring more friends for return visits! There's a nice coffee offering with espresso drinks. We went veggie on pizza day with family and devoured veggie pesto and butternut squash pizzas- perfect crust and generous, fresh toppings. This Bakehouse is working hard to produce a stellar assortment of beautiful pastries, pizza and so much more. As I commented earlier, so IMPRESSIVE. I won't lie the Ham and Gruyère Croissant was looking back at me so I grabbed it and had them heat it up. Y'all !! So light and flaky and buttery. Sinfully delicious!! The fresh baked bread is delicious and I highly recommend but it's not a place for someone in a hurry or someone looking to get a good deal. Amazing wood fired brick oven pizza. Don't miss this place. You may have to park far away to get your pizza, but it is well worth the walk. Get the Wild Mushroom pizza for sure and then any other traditional pizza you like. Hubby ordered a sausage pizza with the traditional red pizza sauce. That wild mushroom pizza has everything you want umami....a lovely garlic base to go with. The sausage pizza has distinctive hints of fennel which we love. I have post a genuine review 2 times which they some how get taken down? I did not think it was possible for the business to control the reviews ? My husband and myself went there not knowing who was working it was our first and will be our last visit. As the waitress was a person he as a carpenter had worked for and they had refused to pay him . We thought nothing of it's a place of employment right? We never received napkins or condiments we found those for ourselves. The people around us were chatted with brought things not us ! Then the napkin dispenser and condiments were removed from us .
