Wood & Vine is an upscale restaurant where dining is an experience. There's a long bar with plenty of drink options. Tables were limited and should be booked in advance. I made a table booking for me and my mother for a happy-hour meal after arriving in Brevard. We elected to have their early-bird set meal that includes a salad, a pizza to share, and a dessert. I'm a fan of their French pots de creme dessert. We're staying at the historic Pisgah Inn, so we have another drive ahead of us. read more

val. girl. was the food cost on a single pizza really worth embarrassing yourself and your employees on your patio on a busy saturday night? let me set the scene... my friends joined my son and i last minute in brevard to attend the bela fleck concert last night. we met up at wood & vine, as it is a pretty easy meetup spot with a diverse menu. my friends were immediately appalled by the prices, but they were good sports, especially since she was in the mood for vegan cheese pizza. so here's our order. for me? wings and wedge- $32. classic order, no complaints. for him? picante pizza- $27. he wasn't thrilled about the flat-bread-size of the pizza at that price, but i assured him he could have some of my wings. for her? the margarita pizza with vegan cheese- $24 and not sure if there was an up charge for the vegan cheese. my son absolutely loves this friend and was dead set on sharing a pizza with her. we told our waitress they would share the pie, but asked if we could get a side of pepperonis for him. she obliged, and i will say that this is where the trouble began. i'll totally blame my boy- he was bouncing around saying "half cheese! half pepperoni!" over and over again. did my son confuse the waitress? most definitely. but i didn't realize it until right before our food came out. "i'm so sorry. they already put the pepperoni on half of the pizza, is that going to be okay?" of course! my friend is vegetarian and dairy-free she wasn't going to throw a fit. we assure her that's fine and she goes back inside to confirm. at this point, the patio has completely filled up with tables. my son is bouncing around demanding his pizza quite loudly, which is not polite or allowed while we are dining out. since there was so much going on, he was having a hard time using his listening ears, so i took him out front to explain to him- once again- that we do not berate or make demands of waitstaff. once he's calmed down, we return to find our friends looking quite puzzled by the three pizzas now on our table instead of the two we ordered. i ask "what's this?" they shake their heads and say they don't know what happened. now since i was not at the table at the time, i am not at liberty to say what happened during this interaction. i'm sure they protested that there was one pizza too many. i feel like the waitress probably apologized and offered to take a pizza off the table. my friends most likely were thinking it would go to waste (they hate food waste they are sustainable farmers) and said something along the lines of, "no! it's fine don't worry we'll eat it." again, i am paraphrasing since i was not present for this interaction. anyways, when our waitress gives my friend the check at the end of our meal, he immediately sees that there are three pizzas on the check and kindly reminds her we only ordered two. this is where things start to take a turn for the worse... cause she's gone a long time and when she returns, she does not look happy about the interaction she is about to have. she sighs and says "chef said since you accepted the pizza you need to pay for it." i interject- "absolutely not. i wasn't even here when the food was dropped. we are not paying another $30 for a pizza we didn't order." what happened next i can only describe as absolutely insane. after a long while, our waitress comes back looking absolutely defeated. "well, they made me say it was my fault, but she took it off your check." and hands my friend the updated bill. "thank you," i reply, "but is absolutely not your fault." enter val gerdes. chef and owner of wood & vine. she has left her station on the line at 7pm on a saturday night to come and confront us herself. "it absolutely isn't her fault," val agrees with me, "so tell me why you would accept a third pizza and eat said pizza and then not expect to pay for it." girl. are your margins that narrow? you can't cover the food cost of a half cheese half pepperoni pizza mistake that YOU made? how much loss is that? maybe $7? i went blind with rage at this point. i have worked with many chefs far more pretentious than you with ACTUAL credentials to back it up and never in their lives would they embarrass/debase themselves the way you did on your patio last night. did it feel good? did you feel powerful? did you go back to the line and gloat? what's it like to feel so insecure? how does it feel to know that your waitstaff hate you because you don't have their backs? yeah. maybe our waitress did mess up with our order. but you girl, you messed up with your life choices. i said i wouldn't be back. val, you said that would be great. i'm glad we agree. so now im going to make it my mission to let everyone know what a silly little loser you are by recommending MUCH better places to eat in the brevard area. all in all- i would recommend avoiding val gerdes and her restaurant at all costs. val- grow up. and have a great day 0/5 stars read more

Recently had the opportunity to eat here while traveling to visit some friends in the area. The first thing I can say, is the restaurant is stylish and modern. The service was not only friendly, but competent. We were quickly greeted/seated, and set up with menus and info on the daily specials. We ordered the menu. A bottle of wine from their great wine list, Maine oysters, oysters Rockefeller, mussels, escargot, a salad, a pizza, and several other items. Everything was delivered promptly, and everything was delicious. They oysters were also perfectly shucked, which is an important point for me, personally. We finished with a creme brulee and cocktails - which was a perfect finale to a great meal. I didn't take any photos, since I was dining with friends, and we got sidetracked in conversation, but there are plenty of other photos to help you evaluate Wood and Vine. Highly recommended if you are in Brevard and looking for a top dining experience! Can't wait to go back! read more

The only reason I gave this restaurant one star is because I have not eaten there. I tried to make a reservation but either they are truly fully booked for weeks to come or there is something wrong with their reservation system on their website. I wanted to call them but no phone number is available. there was an email address and I did send an email several days ago asking if they have walk in tables to try for but have heard nothing back. This is no way to run a restaurant in my opinion. I hope to some day get in to dine but for our upcoming anniversary, it apparently is not to be. read more

This spot is the REAL DEAL! Bartender's are welcoming, and make a fantastic martini! Vibe is very cool, and comfortable. Inside or outside seating available. The food......we had the hanger steak and the shrimp stuffed with crabmeat. Absolutely fantastic! Everything is cooked in a wood fired oven! If you find yourself in Brevard, NC.......this is a "do not miss" spot! read more

The food is amazing. However when we arrived the first thing we were told is you only have a 1 hr and 30 mins to order and eat. We were told we had to order everything at one time. Usually this is enough time. However it took 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive. Then over 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Thankfully we were able to finish. At the end we were given a desert menu even though we only had 10 minutes left. So of course we did not order because by the time the food would have arrived we would have been asked to leave. Our server was good and kept saying she said you only can stay for this long. Not sure who "she" is. We would have ordered desert and went more money but we were forced out due to our time limit. I have never been to a restaurant and gone to a restaurant and given a time limit. We plan on moving up here soon and would love to give this restaurant more business and good reviews. However I do not like being told we have a certain limit and we had to rush to order all of our food all while it took a very LONG time to be served. read more

Such a wonderful addition to Brevard. Though small inside, the atmosphere is warm and inviting and the perfect place to gather for cocktails and outstanding bites. Even though we enjoy sitting at the bar and chatting with the staff, the newly covered outdoor seating is going to make dining outside so much more enjoyable. Always start with their cocktails - ALWAYS! We love the dirty martinis, the cosmos and the old fashioneds They're always executed perfectly and served up quickly. I know it's a wine bar but when the dirty martinis are made to perfection, that's where I'm going! Val does an amazing job at whetting your appetite with a little amuse bouche. This one particular time it was a perfectly succulent stuffed pepper in marinara. Absolutely delicious! The colossal shrimp cocktail is always a go-to for me! Sounds simple, right, maybe but the shrimp are poached perfectly and the cocktail sauce just hits right. Same for the Caesar salad - so damn good and enough for the table to share. But if you really want an amazing treat, the wood fired oysters are shut the front door delicious! Oh, that garlic shallot butter and breadcrumbs. We don't often have room for a full dinner because we've snacked our way through Val's appetizer list but if you're wanting an incredible steak, the hangar steak is exceptional. Fire and all, this is the best steak in Brevard, hands down! Thanks Val, Patti and team, you do an amazing job on elevated dining. Always a 5 star experience! read more

This place turned us away at 7:55. We had already had dinner and just wanted a glass of wine. On a Saturday night. In the summer. Two seats at the bar but they said " we only have one bartender" , then added and we close in 5 minutes. Note they were full inside and outside at that time. People 1/3-1/2 through their meals. I so wanted to go here and had tried earlier while we shopped downtown. But they were open yet. Then came back. 10/10 don't recommend if hospitality is what you want. read more

The good and service was all amazing . The option to eat outdoors was great . Very easily accessed from town

Although no reservation, the hostess was eager to accommodate us by offering a seat outside. There was a guitarist on the patio which added to the ambiance. My brother and I both had the catch of the day which was Cobia. My wife had the muscles and we all shared a very large Caesar salad! They are very particular about ordering appetizers and entrées, but it's easy to understand why. They had a wide variety of cocktails and cocktails, as well as a fabulous wine selection. The only downside of our visit was the slow service. It took 20 minutes to get drinks after we were seated. Everything else was wonderful and I highly recommend this restaurant during your visit to Brevard. read more

Some hits and some misses. We had a reservation for 3 people and were seated promptly. Great vibe. HITS: Trout was great and flavorful. Beef stroganoff was delicious. Order of fresh bread and butter, excellent. Good wine selection Server was pleasant and well versed. MISSES: Hangar Steak ordered Medium Rare was essentially raw. Plate was ridiculously bloody. Did not send it back as it took nearly an hour to get our food. Mashed potatoes, though delicious, were cold as they are smeared on the plates. (really not necessary and only takes away from enjoying the meal. Though server was good, service was very slow. They seemed to be working the entire location so their tables were very physically spread out. We end up waiting a lot... for slow food ( no pizzas), and for the server after. read more

Dined here this week while visiting my family. We did not have reservations and sat at the bar. The bartenders were a delight and made an outstanding Lemon drop martini!! I ordered the Caesar salad, was delicious!! My entree was the mushroom ravioli with béchamel sauce. The ravioli itself was delicious but dry as there was no sauce to speak of. (Reason for a 4 star) It appeared to be pre-plated and heated in pizza oven. Overall a delicious meal!! read more

Finally! An excellent meal in Brevard! Everything about our experience was fantastic. Started with some cocktails - hubby loved his martini - and tasty oysters. Followed with the small Caesar salad which was actually pretty sizable and delicious. Next up was the tomato pie (yum!) and crab stuffed shrimp (also yum!). We then had the special which was cobia with lobster bisque and mashed potatoes. Fabulous! We love this dish - perfectly executed. Our server, Zoe, was superb. She was well versed in the food and wine menu. Very personable and added to our overall experience. The space is not big so reservations are a good idea. As others have noted, you are required to put in your whole order at once as the kitchen is small and it helps them pace out the courses. It worked well for us. read more

4 of us went to dinner, service was poor...food lacked flavor and since our experience was so poor, they did not even ask if we wanted desserts!! They request you order everything..apps and food.. at one time. We did...but only 3 of the 4 meals came out at the same time. Was told the oven was full. Ordered a second drink when the food came. 3 times I was told my drink was coming. It arrived after I finished the meal. If you like being treated like you are an inconvenience....go here! read more

Great drinks, food, service and vibe! I had a well-made French 75 cocktail. The roman artichoke hearts were delicious. The upscale Picante pizza, paired with a local pale ale was amazing. Great Key Lime pie! read more

let's begin that I come here every time I'm in town. A trip to Brevard is nothing without a trip to Wood & Vine. Took 3 friends from out of state here for dinner last week. We had 3 pizzas and one cobia entree. The pizza seems to be the best in town. ordered $42 scallops with whipped potatoes and lobster bisque. after like 40 minutes, server said they 'had a problem' cooking scallops and having to redo order'. after like another 15 minutes server brought out plate. scallops nice and warm, tasted fine but potatoes and lobster bisque cold. think maybe plated lobster bisque and potatoes and the plate just sat around while scallops prepared, then redone when messed up first time so lobster bisque/ potatoes cold. When server came by about 10 minutes after serving, I said lobster bisque/ potatoes cold. She offered to have another serving done but by now been there an hour, just wanted to leave. She brought free dessert which was nice but basically there over an hour for four scallops for $42. read more
