I love going here. I have one issue though. I've had the best Meatball sub ever here made by the skinny red headed guy. The best. And I've had 4 after that where the meatballs were so soft you don't have to chew. One of those 4 was a ''To Go'' and meatballs were ordered and I had a meatball sandwich w soft mushy meatballs. And the meatballs in the aluminum to go Pan were normal. My neighbor said hers were soft too I haven't been back there for some months to bring it up. They are top otay h friendly and will adjust their menu to picky people as I have seen it. I'm the guy that doesn't try to make waves. You will like this place. Has gone to a new owner but same people are all there. And That's what matters read more

We found this college town pizzaria restaurant about 15 minutes from Connestee Falls in town. Smallish place with waitress service. We had eggplant dinner and spaghetti dinner. A small salad. Not a gourmet meal by any stretch but it was 30?degrees outside and 4 pm. Glad we stopped in. read more

They have GF pizza option! Hubby ordered a conventional supreme and loved it. I ordered the GF veggie option no cheese (no vegan cheese option) and it hit the spot. It's always hit and miss getting GF pizza when vacationing so I was grateful. The service was excellent. There were younger people (early 20's) providing service and they were kind, social and hospitable. I definitely recommend! We ordered take out to eat back at the cottage while watching the football game. This was the perfect chill ending to a long morning/day of hiking in this beautiful area. read more

My daughter, son and I took my 92 year old mother/ their grandmother to Big Mikes for lunch. The bill was over $100 and the food was terrible. My poor mother ordered spaghetti and meatballs and was served lukewarm pasta and one large dry meatball. When she asked about the sauce the waitress said oh you want sauce on that. She came back with a small bowl of sauce which tasted more like some cheap offbrand out of a jar. I ordered a philly cheesesteak which was tasteless. We stopped into Big Mike's in Brevard, NC for an early lunch during our trip to the Asheville area. We were the first customers of the day, but the quaint restaurant dining room quickly filled as our visit went on and a number of carryout orders were fulfilled. My family and I started with an order of 12 epic knots ($8). These knots were so large that we should have just ordered 6 knots. That would be plenty for a family of four. The dough was tasty and cooked perfectly with plenty of cheese and garlic flavor on top. We were off to a good start. I ordered a baked calzone stuffed with ricotta, romano, provolone, mozzarella, as well as peppers and onions ($12). This was gigantic! I think it was the size of a 10" pizza folded in half and stuffed full. The flavor was good and the sauce tasted fresh and well seasoned. My wife enjoyed a very large salad ($6.50) and the spaghetti with garlic bread ($6) my daughter had from the kids' menu was large enough for an adult. My point being that servings are large so come with a big appetite! read more

We ordered our pizza this evening and we're told it would be ready in 20 to 25 minutes. Our son went to pick it up and arrived right at 25 minutes. He walked in and stood by the hostess stand. The waiter ignored him walking back-and-forth two tables. Finally someone asked him if they could help him. The pizza took another 30 minutes to be finished. When he brought it home, the pizza was extremely greasy and flavorless. We have ordered here a few times, but we will not be back. Very disappointed in service and food quality. read more

Spaghetti and meatballs with marinara sauce were outstanding, as was supreme pizza with sausage and pepperoni. Salad arrived warm??? How could that be? Was it sitting out somewhere? Service very uneven. Meatballs arrived well after spaghetti already had been served. Actually had to ask for them again. What was that all about? And requested water never brought to table. Had to go to bar myself to get. Salads came well after order had been placed. But this is a restaurant and principal measurement should be the food, which was very good overall. My wife, who had a stroke just a few months ago, loved and ate everything. Truly a good sign for this restaurant. Thank goodness for Big Mike's! If you need a late meal for a group in Brevard your choices are limited, and this local pizza joint came to our rescue. Our party of 6 was able to get seated around 8pm on a Saturday. The server was very nice and she was hustling! We ordered 3 pizzas, 3 salads, and wings. I thought the pizza was spot on, crust, sauce, toppings- and the personal size pizza was big enough to share a slice! The salads were devoured, so they must have been just fine, and I thought the wings were very good- nice and meaty! Decent selection of beer on tap, kid friendly, local, and reasonably priced. We were in the mood for an Italian dinner and saw Big Mikes . It was very plain inside but clean. I prefer small local places and atmosphere doesn't really matter as long as the food is good. Our waiter ,Matthew, was very personable and is the owners son. We ordered a small pepperoni and sausage pizza which was very good. The crust was light and not too thick and heavy. The flavor was decent and the toppings adequate We also had the chicken parm dinner which included garlic knots and a salad. The knots and salad were good but the dinner not so much. The plate was watery and the sauce very thin and chunky with very little flavor . The chicken breast was good sized and tasted ok but overall I wouldn't recommend it. If u must go to this place , stick to the pizza and avoid the dinners. read more

We ordered from here the night before during our stay. We did want to cook or eat leftovers and we wanted to try something different and local. We placed our orders online and via phone because online would not take more than one order. The place sits off off Main street in the city. It was pretty crowded inside. We were waited on fairly quickly. The one order was for a personal pizza and cheese bread. I was told that the pizza bread was not included. I'm not sure a personal pizza costs $19. However, I did not know this was the charge until i got back and asked. I ordered another pizza bread. It was stated that it was going to take 20 mins. They closed at 7pm so I went to the store and came back. The cheese bread was ok. Pretty much cheese and garlic on sub bread. My friends got steak subs which they said were ok. They asked for the onions and mayo to be placed on the side and it was placed on the sandwich. The pizza was just ok. I have definitely had better. Pizza was surprisingly great! I was impressed. The decorum is sad and could use a light remodel or touch up. All the servers seemed either in high school or fresh out and lacked professionalism. Appetizer took almost as long as the pizza did. When our pizza arrived we needed plates amd refills. Had dinner at Big Mikes tonight! Was really good! My neighbor and I went! We got the Antipasto Salad to split. Had a lot of goodies in it and 4 ham, salami and cheese pinwheels. The lettuce could have been crisper but otherwise really good! My neighbor friend had a Parmesan Chicken Sub and fries and I had Italian Sausage Sub and fries. I had lots of Italian Sausage in it...so was happy! There was plenty of Mozzarella Cheese on it! A great buy for $11.98 for full sub! The fries were good, too! We both took home half a sub and some fries for lunch tomorrow! Overall... food is good to real good and the prices are good and fair! Pizza was delicious and well priced. My family of 4 split an 18" pizza and 6 garlic knots with no problem. My only complaint is that we went at 4:30 on a Monday and it took over 45min to get our food. I'm not sure if they were understaffed in the kitchen or what. I haven't written a Yelp review in several years but felt compelled after my experience at Big Mike's in May 2021. I'll preface I'd never been here pre-Covid so maybe it was once a decent spot but the 3 1/2 Yelp stars is misleading currently. We had some friends in town so we decided to check it out. The stench from this place is tough to get over, almost like a sour bleach. Against our better judgement we were willing to stay. We ordered some beers. Server brings 2 pints, 1 full & the other 2/3rds full and walks away. We joke amongst ourselves about how bad of a pour it was. Then the server brings the other 2 pints and again one of them is only 2/3rds full and walks away. Now I see the low sanitation grade score on the wall. I tell the table let's pay for the beers and go somewhere else as I don't feel comfortable eating here and they all agreed. Hopefully this place can turn it around because it seems to have been popular years ago but I won't be back anytime soon. read more

I was working with a client at Lake Toxaway & had to go into Brevard for supplies. Craving Italian food, I googled to see what this little town offered. Big Mike's had me when I read "Italian comfort food". Then I checked a few reviews - all good. I rarely leave them myself, but just had to give them ! Lasagna is one of my favorite foods & is usually how I grade Italian restaurants. Omg y'all, this is THE BEST I have ever had. My partner and I called about an hour before close hoping to pick up food as to not weigh down any servers too much. We told the woman that we wanted to make a pick up order and she told us to hold for a moment. We did. After about 15 minutes we drove down there (still on the phone). We walked in and were told to wait without anyone actually listening to us. The place had maybe a third of the tables with people and most of those were already served. During our wait in person we saw the person at the cash register pick up the phone and say the same thing we were told and then continue to do not much of anything, not serving not cleaning. After another minute we finally had out call picked up, now just under 21 minutes on hold. We said we were there in person and waved. She called over the manager and the manager said "they'll need to wait a minute". A few moment later we were waved in and offered at table. But after that we declined and told them that if they were too busy (despite the relative empty restaurant) they could have said that and we wouldn't had to be on hold for 20 minutes. The woman brushed us off, was completely rude to us and another family waiting, and walked away saying she "wasn't the one who picked up" when we tried to say what had happened. The fact that the one who did answer was clearly not doing anything else which stopped her from taking an order and had who knows how many on hold is one thing but the way we were treated just made it even more unacceptable. read more

Great food, Great service, Great prices! We loved our first trip to Big Mike's and will definitely be back the next time we are in Brevard. We started with the basket of fries and boy were they amazing! Probably the best plain old fries I've ever had! I had the lasagna for my entree and it was delicious and an enormous portion (at least two meals). It came with a great house salad and garlic bread, all for around $15. What a deal!
