Our 2nd visit here and it was as good as our first time! We came around 6:30 on Sat night and got the last table. My bride ordered the Salmon Lettuce Cups ($14) and said they were really good. This place is adorable! I liked that you ordered at the counter and then grabbed a seat. If it feels like too much pressure - order a drink and sit down with a menu and return when you're ready. The gentleman taking our order was so patient and kind. We ordered the mozzarella sticks to start - they were homemade but a little too much breading for our taste. We then got a side Caesar salad - excellent! A side of sweet potato fries - also great. But the star of the show was a chick fil a rip off (what they called it) a mushroom sandwich that was so tasty. They marinated the mushroom in pickle juice and it was loaded with a delicious sauce, chopped pickles, lettuce, tomato and melted cheese. We visited a couple of times and everything here was great. The homemade bread with pesto sauce, fried mozzerella sticks, and BBQ pulled pork nachos were all very satisfying and tasty appetizers. The trout special with mushroom ravioli, was a unique pairing that went well together. The trout was juicy, fall-off-the-fork deliciousness. The accompanying sauce was rich, savory and creamy. The chicken marsala was another yummy and generously sized dish. This is a lively place if you are seated outdoors on their patio. It is a casual, fun vibe. Food was well prepared, tasty and presented well. Price was OK but you only received an entre. No bread, salad just the main meal. No service of a waitress. Orders are placed at bar and later delivered to your table. Drinks are obtained at the bar along with utensils and napkins. The tables are clean and atmosphere is well suited for good conversation during the meal. Staff is friendly. Good place for a casual night out. read more

The first thing you should know is there is no service here. You order your food at the bar and pay in advance, then get your own utensils and water, and go find a table. It's a little odd, but not unheard of. The problem I had was the food. We ordered the Tuna Tower and Shrimp n grits. The tuna was pretty much inedible. It was mostly chewy and fatty pieces that were definitely not sushi grade. The Shrimp n grits were loaded with shrimp, unfortunately not all were completely cooked. A couple of the sausage pieces were also not very chewy and able to be eaten. Aside from the food, the place had a nice atmosphere and everyone there was pleasant. This place seems to be a local fave. The restaurant has a neighborhood feel. A wall divides it in two, with a bar on one side and walk-up ordering / unlimited tea & water on the other. No wait staff; you take your number from the walk up and food is served from the kitchen staff. - We stopped in after completing the Looking Glass Rock hike, so we were ready to chow down. The food portions were huge, and two of us took our leftovers with us. I did not get a pic of the Hawaiian Burger, but it had a full pineapple slice and took up half the plate. read more

We had high expectations- Sunday night, downtown Brevard- most eating places are closed- Jordan Street was open and not to crowded- full, but we were seated right away- We ordered a bottle of wine- seemed like a good idea- nice choices. We ordered a pizza, and beef sandwich- the meat was tough like shoe leather and the pizza- was pretty bad- too much dough- not cooked well enough, and overall just bad, As we left I said to my wife- jeez that was not much food for 80 bucks? Well they over charged us for the wine by 20 dollars- that had to be corrected, which took 5 business days to see the fix on my credit card- I will give them another shot in 6 months or so...great potential here! read more

Weve been here before and loved the post-ride eats. JSC consistently has good food. I love their Tuna Tower. It went well with a glass of Malbec and a house side salad. Almost everyone else at the table ordered the ribeye...which almost cleared them out of ribeye at 7pm on a Saturday. They said if that happened, we would have had the NY strip substituted. JSC has your back. Covid seems to have diminished their service and staff, much like everywhere else. Nobody in NC is masked despite recommendations. JSC is no different. With a cozy interior and just a few seats in the alley, once you take off your mask to eat, you're basically consenting to taking your own risks anyway. I am in love with Jordan Street Cafe! It was the kind of quaint little hole in the wall experience I've been longing for! We spent two days hiking some of the nearby waterfalls and used Brevard as our home base! While I enjoyed each and every restaurant we visited, Jordan Street was the jewel of our experience. [ THE CAFE ] ​Jordan Street Café was opened in 1997 by Michael and Susan Nemeth. However, you would think it's been around much longer by the age of the building, the décor and the hand painted signage. It reminded me very much of diners I ate at as a kid in the 70's. It's one of those old building where they started in just one storefront, but bought the adjacent square footage and expanded, leaving a stepdown between the two spaces. It also is the type of place where people ACTUALLY talk to one another. Between the time we arrived and paid our final bill, I'd seriously had a conversation with nearly every patron in the building. Two guys at the bar encouraged me to get the Chicken Fried Steak because it is coated with something known locally as RAMP sausage gravy. Another couple at a nearby table recommended the Fried Chicken and Biscuits while yet another spoke highly of the Grilled Ribeye and still another raved about the chicken & waffles. . But as usual, my mind was fixed on the Shrimp & Grits. Still, in all the confusion over what to order the owners caught wind of my conversations and sent me a complimentary biscuit smothered in their RAMP Sausage Gravy. Let me just say OH-EEEMMM-GHEEE!!! That gravy by itself is 5++ stars and if I were not such a fan of Shrimp & Grits, I would have easily been swayed to one of several menu items offering this gravy as a topping. [ THE FOOD ] My CANJUN SHRIMP & GRITS were fantastic! My only complaint would be there were too many cherry tomatoes, otherwise It was near perfection! I asked them to hold the tabasco sauce that normally comes on this meal because I'm not a fan of the flavor and they obliged. My wife order the AVOCADO BURRITO with no meat and our yelp daughter Jess had the FRIED CHICKEN & WAFFLES. Our "after brunch" dessert included SALTED CARAMEL CHEESECAKE and APPLE PIE w/ vanilla bean ice cream. The wife of this husband/wife duo is the baker and hats off to her on both these items! As they say where I'm from... she put her foot in these desserts. I didn't try the cheesecake, but based on my two female dining companions reactions, it was orgasmic! I really enjoyed the apple pie and appreciated greatly the vanilla bean ice cream (my favorite). [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] While I will most certainly remember the food, I think I will remember the conversations with other dining patron more. It felt like the real life lyrics from the theme song of the TV series Cheers : "where everybody knows your name and are always glad you came." Upon leaving I met a table with two couples totaling well over 85 years together. If we hadn't been so eager to get home after our long weekend hiking, we just might have talked to them all day. They were such a delight and radiated good energy. With all the controversy in today's headlines, Jordan Street Café was a welcome reprieve, as if kindness and humanity decided to make this place their home. Had a great dinner at Jordan St. this evening. The place is very clean and organized. My Mahi sandwich was the BEST I've ever had! I could have eaten two! My wife was also pleased with her dinner. This is a nice trendy cafe in downtown Brevard. It was my first night in town in business and there wasn't a lot open, but this was a good choice. They have a nice varied menu with some good comfort food and different dishes. They have a good selection of craft beer with mixed drinks and cocktails, I think wine was an option also. I got the chicken parmigiana, my friend got the trout filet. Executed well and was delicious. The only odd thing was they were a little short on staff (everyone is these days) and they didn't have a waitlist, so you had to wait for a table to open up and grab it. Unless we misunderstood their instructions? In any event, a solid choice for a meal. read more

I really want to love this place: Interesting daily specials, zucchini noodles, great patio... sadly, everything I ate was way too rich. This, coming from a New Orleans girl, says a lot! The fried feta appetizer was delicious. It includes 2 huge sticks, 3 large slices of bread and a pool of pesto oil @ olives. Serves 4 easily at $8. Fried green tomato pulled pork special was inventive. These 3 Sliders used fried green tomatoes as bread. Pimento cheese was pretty good but overpowered when paired with a rich sugared pulled pork. The burgers are insane. It was impossible to stuff one in my big mouth, even after squishing it. Giant patty plus bacon, pimento, & BBQ pulled pork. Too rich to eat even once I deconstructed it. The sweet potato fries were great, but you may want to skip the signature blue cheese melted on top. Sounds like a good idea, but trust me: it is too much! Great beer selection. Skip cocktails that aren't on the menu. The bartenders are best at what they know. The patio is lovely but could use a few strands of light. Once the sun goes down it is so dark. The tiny tea lights do little to illuminate your meal. read more

Service and setting was good. They have a nice private outdoor seating. Can't really say that I enjoyed my meal here as it was overly sweet for a fried chicken sandwich. I thought that maple bacon meant a hint of maple but this sandwich just straight up had maple syrup on it. The size of the chicken was comedically large in comparison to the bun. Sweet potato fries were ok but a regretful decision. Chasing sugar with sugar. 2 things that should have been more on the savory side were loaded with sugar. My friend enjoyed her salad but was disappointed with the limited salad dressing options. I really wanted to like it here but I think this place might be trying a little too hard. read more

We were actually routed to Square root but somehow the GPS knew better and landed us in this quant friendly bar with an awesome selection of beer and the best (and I really mean it) bbq nachos I've ever had. The portion was so big that my husband and I couldn't finish it and didn't order anything else, because we were so satisfied. Their sauce is a little tangy with a hint of spice. I hope we get a chance to go back before we leave and I'd like to say I would try an entree, but I might just have to get those nachos again! read more

Let's start with this: CHICKEN AND WAFFLES. My husband had it first for brunch, and when we went back, I had to try it for dinner after his rave reviews. It was a huge portion, and really good. Hubs had the burger when he and I went, and it was very good. They change the tweak the menu fairly regularly, but you can count on having a solid meal here with a generous portion size. It's a small location on a side street, so I'd make a reservation if possible. They do have a bar and a couple of outside tables. Service was very friendly, though a tad slow. read more

Excellent food! Stopped in for dinner on a Friday. We sat at the bar, it was fun to chat with the bartender. There were a dozen tempting things on the specials board plus the menu. We had the Pacific Rim Wrap and Bacon Wrapped Trout. The trout was great with a nice amount of bacon and perfectly cooked with capers and herbs plus mash potatoes and broccoli. The wrap was also tasty with a mix of crunchy breaded tilapia, sweet rice, and sauce. For dessert they had 7 choices. We had a triple chocolate cake with raspberry sauce made in the kitchen. To-die-for. Service was friendly, attentive, and fast. A must visit spot if you're in Brevard or touring the Blue Ridge Parkway. read more

Started off dinner with the crab-cake appetizer. The two cakes were small, but sufficient for four people to each have a taste. The flavor was very good, but there was a little more breading than I like. I give the crab-cakes 3 stars. It got better from there. We tried to salads. The spinach salad with bacon (real bacon, not bacon bits) and a wonderful balsamic reduction with brown sugar. I love fresh spinach, but even if you don't you'll still enjoy this salad. The other was a mixed green salad with balsamic dressing--fresh, flavorful, and ample. We had four entrees. All were very good or excellent. First off was the veal served with polenta. The veal was good, but I don't usually eat it so I can't compare it with other veal. The polenta was flavorful, but more like cornbread than what I consider traditional polenta. Just the same it was delicious. The best meal at the table was the chicken in an apple cider reduction with cranberries and walnuts. It was delicious. Served on the side were the best mashed potatoes ever--bar none. A close runner up was the quail--phenomenal! I'm accustomed to eating game (quail, dove, and duck) that was killed and prepared within hours. The quail at Jordan Street Cafe was as good as any I've had. Unfortunately, it was accompanied by a less than the best buckwheat. Suggestion: substitute the mashed potatoes. The final entree was the lightly breaded trout. It was fresh; should be since there is a fish hatchery within a short driving distance. I recommend it. The trout was served along side a risotto that got better with each bite. All of tonight's dinners were served with shredded zucchini. Most restaurants either cook all of the flavor out of vegetables, or cover it up with butter or oil. JSC lightly, but thoroughly cooked the zucchini. I'll definitely ask for it again. A note on the portions. There was ample of everything to go around. Our group of four could have split three entrees. We were full enough to skip dessert, and had plenty to take home. When I return to JSC I'll spend time in the bar. Although there wasn't much going on tonight (a Thursday) it has a promising look. Three beers on tap, two of them stout (one was Guinness), and an IPA. Lastly, the service was excellent. Of course, there were only two other tables, but we'll give the server the benefit of the doubt. He was friendly without being familiar, quick, and had a sense of what our table needed. read more
