I added roast beef to it knowing it was an extra charge, yet get one little sliver of roast beef on ONE half of the sub, and on the other half that's what you call a tomato? Dropped by for a quick bite, first time visiting. Ordered a cup of chili and a cup of potato soup, cup is hardly what came it was 2oz of soup and 2pm of chili in a small tea size cup. Ordered a garden salad, it looked as if it went through a shredder, it was wilting a browning. Order a chicken park sandwich, it was not even close to a chicken parm, it was chopped up chicken breast covered with tomato sauce melted cheese on a hot dog roll. Pretty sad sandwich. This has always been one of our favorite restaurants, I remember my grandparents bringing me here when they were in their old location. They have fantastic soups and sandwiches, my favorite is the Alykat. The Daredevil is spicy and my husband's favorite while our daughter goes for the smoked turkey. I've always loved Alykat. They've been a hometown favorite for many years. However, I recently had lunch there with 2 friends and was quite surprised at how things have changed. First, it's cash only now. We each had a sandwich and a cup of soup (not a bowl). The prices on the menu were blacked out, so we couldn't see what anything cost. Our soup and sandwiches were served with very cheap plastic utensils. We were quite surprised that the bill was $45 dollars. We realize that the cost of everything has gone up, but that was simply too much for so little. read more

Historically, the food is always fantastic and continues to be of great quality. Even when the shop was located within the opportunity house area back in the '90s. The staff is wonderful warm people who have a genuine interest in making the experience memorable. Recently, due to COVID, the establishment is no longer accepting credit cards and is cash only. Casual sandwich shop with tasty food and friendly service make Alykat a good open for lunch. The waitstaff went out their way to make sure drinks were kept full and all meals were to our satisfaction. The Rueben sandwich was good, but the pastrami was deli sliced thin making the texture a bit different. The flavors were good, but the bread was toasted and a bit too crunchy. The Chicken salad sandwich was super delicious. And, the Alykat sub was fantastic. All in all a good option! read more

Been eating at AlyKat through 4 different locations, which translates into a long time. We all know what it means when we go to the same restaurant basically all our lives, it means it is a damn good place to eat. You'll get mostly locals at the Alykat. My favorite is the "Alykat Turkey Sub" heated with just a tad extra mayo. Oh man, tasty is an understatement. The "Alykat Salad" is great. Whichever meal you choose its gonna be good, so relax let the Owner Richard and his friendly staff serve you. I promise you it'll be GREAT. read more

This place has been in Hendersonville for a longgg time (44ish years - making it the oldest restaurant in town). They are on their 4th location (and largest) and on its fourth owner. The previous location (which FYI had the cutest waitresses in town) tried to close up shop in 2011, but Richard came in to take the wheel. The food is a classic deli soup and sandwich place with some oddities like the cheese sub. Who would've known a cheese sub could be so good? If you're getting a sub, make sure to get it hot. Melted cheese is where it's at. The past few times I've gotten the cream of potato soup. This used to be my favorite and I gave it so much praise, but each time it has become less enjoyable (most recently, not fully cooked potatoes!). There are usually a few soup of the day options though. Sandwiches come with chips (it varies between bag and already dishes every time I go). And a side / a few crispy pickles. This is without a doubt a true Hendersonville institution. If you haven't been, go grab some lunch!!! read more

They do a good job & obviously know what they're doing. It seems like they've been doing the same food for a long time and the place looks a little outdated but there's nothing wrong with that. They've got it down pat! I saw a review where they thought her server was rude. I think they're just doing what they're supposed to do, their job, without all the lolly gagging and wasting time. You have to think of how fast they work and they're trying to get you in and out. The food is good, not great but good. I'd rather here than fast food any day. We tried the French onion soup, the cheese was one layer on the top and I had to cut it and add it back to my soup. We also had an enchilada soup that was really good! Then our sandwich of the French dip was good too. We had another one, can't think of the name but it was kind of like a hot Italian, but it was pretty good too. read more

Had heard great reviews and anxious to give it a try... Ordered "to go" soup and salad. The small portion of soup was about 1/4 cup in size. The dieters salad was missing ingredients listed on menu. The salad was tossed in dressing, so when I opened the box a few hours later it was soggy mush. Disappointed overall. read more

I get lunch here about 3 times a week. They have the best soups in the area, with a great selection, and the prices are so reasonable. My favorite is the potato soup, but be sure to ask for it loaded with cheese & bacon! The staff is friendly, the service is prompt, and they even have a drive-up window for to-go orders. This is my new favorite lunch spot. And I don't mind sharing that, because even when they seem to be slammed, I never wait very long for anything. Ate here with my two sons, both teenagers. We had the Reuben, a meatball sub, and a giant chili dog. All were delicious. Attentive, friendly service too. We are local but new to Hendersonville, and will definitely put this on our rotation. Great little place! read more

A "Hendo" institution! Fantastic sandwiches, great service, easy in and out location. When we have someone come in from out of town we take them there for a quick lunch. Once you eat there you'll never want to eat at the big chain sandwich shops again. Keep up the good work. read more

We tried this place last weekend hoping to finally find an awesome sandwich shop in hvl. We were highly disappointed. Husband got the steak and cheese pita and I got the steak and cheese sub. Husband's pita was ok. I could have made a better sub at home though. It was so plain and the cheese was not even melted. And they sprinkled this seasoning on top that kind of seemed like an afterthought.... We won't be back. Save your money and go to Jimmy John's.... yes it's better...... I love this place. I used to go there back when it was by hotdog world (I think.) It's still as super good as ever, ever since I first started going there I've gotten the Cheese Sub. I was vegetarian back then but I'm carnivorous now and still love it. The staff is really friendly, the service is great. Prices aren't too bad. Definitely a favorite lunch spot! They also have a new menu and there's a lot of good looking stuff on there (but I still stick with that cheese sub!) read more

Sandwiches are great, no complaints, staff was friendly as well. Pasta salad was ok, nothing to write home about, same with the potato salad, it appears to be the kind that you buy in bulk, not homemade. You get potato chips with every sandwich but they're the most blasé potato chips you could possibly serve, they need to upgrade to some good kettle chips and maybe offer options for different flavors. All in all it's a good spot and the sandwiches will have you coming back. read more
