This place is run like a well oiled machine. Top-notch staff, super efficient, very friendly. An amazing variety of deli meats, fresh carved beef and turkey, soups, veggie sandwiches, and salads. Highly recommend any variation of their grilled cheese on sourdough. An extra bonus is my trick of dipping the grilled cheese sandwich in their Italian dressing. Yum, next level. The pulled pork with slaw on a Kaiser roll is also excellent. Any of the carved meats are fresh and delicious. They have multigrain and marble rye too. They are closed on the weekends, but it's worth the wait. They open at 10:30 AM during the week. Inside the restaurant, you will find ample seating with booths and a couple of tables. Nice place and good food. Not memorable, but good. I guess $15 dollars for a sandwich is the norm now. The sub bread does not have the "crunch" factor....too doughy. when are they going to stop giving excuses about not having tomatoes? No sides with a sandwich is no way to win my patronage. As we checked out the menu posted outside, several regulars said best sandwiches ever on their way in. That talked us into it and the sandwiches were delicious. I had the pesto chicken salad piled higher with lettuce, roasted red peppers, & goat cheese. My husband had the special which was hot sliced roast beef with au jus like a French dip. You order at the counter and the employees rotate around to order, prepare, & pay. If you eat in, they drop off your order at your table. The inside is homey and bustling. This place was decent. The food was actually really good, we all got different sandwiches and each of us were content. This is not a kid-friendly place though- no high chairs or changing tables. Mountain Deli is a little slice of Northern style delis conveniently packed into a small shop in downtown Hendersonville. We were getting an assortment of sandwiches to go, including a couple that I wasn't sure were going to be their speciality, but they nailed them anyway (two pork bbq sandwiches). I personally was looking for a club on a hoagie roll, and they delivered. Light and tasty bread, ample fillings (might have liked a touch more meat, but good enough), fresh veggies, good size sandwich overall. I also got to taste a bite of the Italian, and it was definitely worth a future order. Back to those pork BBQ sandwiches, I wasn't expecting much given that this isn't a place specializing in those, but somehow it all worked really well! Moist and tender pork, tangy slaw, nice sauce to compliment on a larger kaiser roll. We didn't go for chips and drinks, but they had a full compliment of sodas, including Dr. Brown's for the real ones who know. What a fantastic and tasty surprise tucked away in the beautiful town of Hendersonville! I was visiting family and they casually recommended getting sandwiches from "a cute place on Main Street." I had no idea I was walking into an amazing deli run by actual yankees! Born and raised in the south, I think I can fairly say that northern deli's just hit differently. But they had it all! I ordered the Italian sub and my partner the Rueben. Both were packed full of delicious meat and cheese. Fresh bread and the sub sauce took it up a notch. The parents both ordered the BBQ sandwich, which confused me at first b/c they are surrounded by excellent smoked BBQ joints. I got to try it and realized why they wanted it. Great flavor, juicy, and lots of it. I don't think you can go wrong ordering anything off that menu. It's got a great variety and I get the feeling that each sandwich is prepared consistently with high-quality ingredients. The staff was very friendly and the food came out pretty quickly. One of the best pastrami sandwiches I've had in a long time. We try to find a local eatery when out of town and that is what landed us here. The handwritten menu boards had small writing which was difficult for me to read but the selection was enormous with sandwich and selected side options. I ended up ordering the Big Hot Pastrami with deli mustard on rye bread, chips and a drink. Pricing was as expected for a local owned deli shop with excellent service and worth every penny. The restaurant was decorated with nostalgic pictures of the downtown Hendersonville area and the tables had hiking maps of the local area under the clear coat for a get to know the area feel. I very much enjoyed the food and would return to try something else. All the sandwiches I saw being delivered looked delicious and the smells were all amazing. I love a good sanwhich for lunch any chance I can get. There is so many options to choose from as well as daily specials. I went with the turkey BLT on white, which was recommended by staff after I asked a few questions. It did not disappoint. The sandwich was so good and the bread was delightful. The atmosphere has an old town local vibe. The staff was friendly. You can dine inside or outside if you would like. I will definitly be visiting Mountain Deli as soon as we are in the area again.
