Stopped here for lunch on our travels. Friendly counter service, comfortable atmosphere, nice menu. We ordered eggplant and cheese on a pumpernickel bagel and hummus on a wholewheat bagel. Bagels ok but we had better NY style bagel elsewhere. My bagel hardly had any hummus on it and I was disappointed. Coffee was good. read more

Found the restaurant to be clean(in clouding restrooms) the stay nice, could work on their friendliness. The food is served fresh, had potato salad and lux and bagels overall this place is 9 on a scale 1 - 10... I'll be stopping by again. Go, Joey's Bagels on Merrimon! Congratulations on your (seemingly) successful opening today! Stopped by to support the soft opening and it was quite a wonderful sight to see the super long line. Love the support! (And they cleared it very quickly!) There was a lot of joy and enthusiasm from the clientele for the new location and hardworking staff. Best bagels I've had in Asheville, maybe anywhere. Tried the pumpernickel, plain, garlic, everything, egg, French toast and asiago. All very good. Large sized (pumpernickel -- my favorite -- was the smallest presumably because it is more dense, so the size was perfect given that). Buy 6 get 1 free is a good deal. They held up well: last ones were still great even after a few days. Easy to get to location in a little shopping center just off Merrimon Ave in North Asheville. This will definitely be our go to place for bagels from now on. read more

Great selection, quick service, great new flavors to try. We bought the dozen, get 2 extra bagels for free. So far we have sampled the French toast, Everything and cinnamon raisin. All flavorful powerhouses! The only recommendation I have is to add a couple of non dairy spread like avocado and non dairy cream cheese. And a vegan wrap or plant based sausage and egg option. I had the pleasure of trying Joeys this weekend and I was very impressed. It's delicious. Incredible find in time for national bagel day Jan 15th. Hint hint. Located on the side of the highway (if it was on the way to work, I'd be in trouble), this inconspicuous little shop is a star. Plenty of parking and some inside tables (small and a bit limited though). Looked like many people did a take away order or pre ordered. They have a popular Wednesday deal when buying many. The Sammy I got (everything bagel with bacon and egg and cheese) was a star. It was simple yet fresh. You get to choose your bagel and cheese flavor. The price is great- all menu items are very affordable. The real star were the staff though. I had the pleasure of talking to many of them and they were such a delightful bunch. Passionate about their job and community. They were out of many bagels already and it wasn't even noon- the earlier the better I'd say. read more

Went to this second location after the Hendersonville one and the staff was super friendly (not so much at the other store, well just the same staff that served me twice. Looked like he hated life both times). Got an Asiago bagel w veggie cream cheese, veggies and turkey and it was delicious. Joey's Bagels are the best in our area. The range of cream cheese varieties and lox are a convenience that can be purchased by the pound. Wednesday is a special bagel sale, but that shouldn't stop a person from heading over there. I want to thank Joey's Bagels for participation in the annual "Camp Card." We bought two cards, and this boy's mind nearly exploded by scoring a double sale. Such moments don't happen without company participants. read more

Joey's in Fletcher needs to step up their game a bit. When my order was received I noticed that the pasta salad was missing. Good catch on my part but it was hard to get anyone's attention to get the item so I had to go back to the order line. What I didn't notice was that the cream cheese was not in the bag for one of the bagels I ordered. Not having time to return one of the folks in my party was disappointed with the food. You shouldn't run the business like Walmart and expect the customer to do your job for you. read more

What more can I say, my favorite breakfast place. I just happen to be so lucky to live half way between both Joeys locations . Food: 5/5- This place knows how to make serious omelettes on top of obviously seriously authentic Bagels . And my judgment for Bagels is based upon some of the best places in Brooklyn and Manhattan not to mention Montreal Bagels. They have an excellent assortment of savory and sweet Bagels, All the best classic cream cheeses, 4 very reasonably priced and perfectly cooked house omelettes., some breakfast sandwiches, and a whole choice of subs, including Philly cheesesteaks, and lox and cream cheese on a bagel of your choosing Service: 5.5/5, truly, some of the warmest people, both Joeys are fantastic, but Personal shouts out to Zandy Who has been there 9 years as well as Dan 7 years. The experiences I've had have time from excellent where they built rapport and made incredible meals to robotic and disconnected at the cashier. I'd be open to trying again. Having grown up in southern CT less than an hour from NYC, I think I have a pretty good idea of what a good NY-style bagel is. Lots of places claim to offer them, but Joey's Bagels is the real deal. Crisp on the outside with tiny micro-blisters, tender on the inside, and with a large variety of flavors to pick from, I haven't had a bagel from Joey's I haven't loved. Their egg bagels in particular are absolutely fantastic and my go-to when I'm in the mood for one. They also offer 50% off a dozen bagels on Wednesday and throw in a few for free, so you get 14 top-quality bagels for $7.99. They freeze beautifully so you never run out, but make sure to slice them before you freeze them so you're not left staring longingly at a defrosting bagel before you can get your fix. Joey's also offers high-quality sandwiches on house-baked sub rolls, with Boar's Head meats. So far I've only tried their chicken bacon ranch sub served hot and their NY club served cold, but both have been fantastic. Service is top-notch and everyone is friendly, prices are reasonable, and there's never a long wait to place your order or before your food is served. I love how consistent the food at Joey's has been over the 15 years that I have been going there. My go to is an everything bagel, egg, Swiss, lettuce, tomato and a light smear of Mayo. So I was upset to see the inconsistency in their COVID 19 policy. A cute handmade poster in the door window says "masks required to enter". I do comply. But, a worker, maybe the manager, allowed his mask to hang from his ear as he invited his mask less friend into the shop. Great bagels. Minimal concern for public health. I ordered an everything bagel, with cream cheese on the side. I confirmed it was baked this morning, so I said just sliced in half, not toasted. Toasting is for refreshing day-old bagels, IMHO. However here at Joey's, I think toasting is a Must to help finish the baking process! I found the bagel to be under-proofed, improperly boiled (was it boiled?), under-baked, and had hardly a shake of everything seasoning. I had high hopes, but it was just kinda ok. I do think this "style" bagel would make a pretty good sandwich, which is what most orders seemed to be. Staff were very friendly! Got a side of egg salad to take home and it was pretty good.
