We decided to stop by this place on our way back to Charleston, Sc and I had chocolate croissant and iced coffee craving in mind. The bakery has great coffee and some good bakeries. I wish they had chocolate croissant but they don't so we settled for the pie, jalapeño cream cheese pastry, and vegetable quiche, the inside is a typical local breakfast /coffee shop with some sodas options and mineral water types drinks. The bakery items as well as the coffee were very good. It is a bit pricey but all the items are made from scratch so it's understandable. Loved the keylime tart and the coconut latte. The croissant and egg, cheese and bacon sandwich was so good but definitely gave me a stomach ache- I'm guessing it was just a little too greasy but delicious. The danishes were good too- we tried the blackberry and raspberry with cream cheese and we both liked the raspberry more. The service was fast and helpful. Came here to grab some breakfast, and they have a surprisingly large menu to choose from! Plenty of pastries and coffee as well as good breakfast and lunch options. As I said, good coffee selection. Good mocha latte. They also had a good ham & swiss sandwich. Delicious melty cheese and a good amount of mustard to compliment. It was busy while we were here, but they made quick work of the line. What a find! I wanted to grab breakfast after dropping family at Asheville airport. I am very particular about breakfast requiring Swiss water process decaf coffee, organic coffees, organic breakfast options.... FVB did not disappoint. The organic bagel with an egg, cheese and locally sourced sausage was amazing! Coffee perfect! Also picked up several loaves of organic breads which we froze for future gatherings. We popped in here for a coffee after checking out of Airbnb and to figure out where we wanted to stop for breakfast before heading home. They are much larger on the inside than I had thought. They have breakfast sandwiches, tons of pastries and baked goods, fresh baked bread, and lots of drinks to choose from. My sister got a latte, my brother in law got an Americano, and I got a matcha latte. All 3 were tasty and the staff were friendly, but the wait time was long. We had been outside at a little table with our dogs, so my sister and I went inside to order. When the workers found out we were the group with the dogs they were really excited about them and wanted to pet them, so they told us they would bring us out our drinks so they could take turns petting them. After a while, and several other people leaving who had ordered after us, my sister went inside to see if our drinks were done because no one had brought them out. They had been sitting up on the counter the whole time and no one had told us they were ready. Other than that, this was a fun stop and I recommend coming in to support a local business. read more

Good bread and deserts, particularly the key lime pie and brownies but otherwise has gone downhill. Ordered online and had my credit card charged and no record when i went to pick it up. We are frequent visitors to this cafe as we live in the area. Generally we love this neighborhood spot, but it's important to note its inconsistencies. For the most part the pastries are good, especially the ham and cheese croissant, the blackberry danish, and the breakfast bagel sandwiches (they sell out so get there early). The inconsistency falls in the baking of the pasties- they are sometimes over or under done. Additionally, some of their "speciality items" ie- the lemon pound cake, the coffee cake, and the fruit bars lack the flavor of their nomenclature. We substantiate this because we often buy 6+ pastries on a Sunday to share with visiting family and are often left underwhelmed with some of them. We find that our usual suspects (ham and cheese, Blackberry danish, etc) are consistently good but if we venture too far off those then we're left disappointed. As mentioned in other reviews, the flow and vibe are a bit strange; entry/exit procedure is confusing, the dish drop near the self serving coffee is unappealing, and the Bluetooth speaker providing music for a large cafe seems uncurated. Because of this, we always get our order togo. This is still our favorite bakery and we'll continue to patronize. read more

Being in a strip mall doesn't add to the ambiance but there is some outside seating on the walkway. Kinda tight passage for those who want to use the sidewalk. Indoors has a variety of seating which can be adjusted to some degree for party size. One orders at the entrance; there are usually handheld laminated menus adjacent to the register. Everything is delicious and very similar to their Flat Rock location. The Italian hero is my favorite. Like it best when toasted. Have to request it, however. Even then my sandwich arrived cold and I had to send it back. My partner enjoyed her tuna salad sandwich and said she would order it again. Picked up several pieces of key lime squares. Make sure to request the crust if you enjoy it otherwise it might have clean cut edges. read more

I am not sure how this bakery flew under my radar, but I had to be on that side of town for an appointment and dropped by for a quick breakfast bite. I ordered a crustless quiche and a chocolate croissant and ham and cheese croissant for later. Based on how yummy everything in the case looked, it was hard to not order everything! My crustless quiche was remarkably flavorful and delicious. Tomatoes, spinach, nicely warmed. I was very happy. When I got home, I ate a piece of the chocolate croissant and my 9 year old daughter devoured the rest. As for the Ham and Cheese croissant, I saved it for breakfast the next day. Cute little place - unfortunately hidden in a little strip mall near the Foam & Fabric Outlet. I went in for a coffee and saw the breads and pastries and had to try! They looked and smelled delicious. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant and they warmed it up for me. So I paid and went to get my coffee which was very good and robust and waited. After about 10 minutes I asked someone behind the counter if they knew where my order was? It just needed a quick reheat. She said she would check and went to investigate. She came back out and said she didn't know what happened to it, but not to worry she would get me another. She heated it herself and brought it right to me. Apologies up and down. The wife and I have made it sort of a tradition to have breakfast at Fletcher Village Bakery when visiting Asheville on the morning we fly home. It's alway been amazing! We usually oder a breakfast sandwich that is always delicious!. Welp, today was a little different. I ordered a bacon-egg-cheese on an everything bagel and the wife ordered a bacon-egg-cheese on a croissant. After a few minutes, the owner came up to our table and apologized profusely after telling me they ran out of everything bagels. No worries, I went with a cheese and cracked pepper bagel. A few more minutes pass and the owner comes back and told us, very apologetically, that they also ran out of croissants. No worries, wife also went with the cheddar cracked pepper bagel. The server noticed we had switched up the order and now had the same thing and that our order was a little behind due to switching things up. So she brought out one sandwich as soon as it was done cut in half on two plates to get us eating and sat she would bring the other sandwich out ASAP. The owner was so kind and so apologetic, she offered us our choice of pastries on the house, which we said was not necessary. She insisted and said to please pick pastries. We relented and asked her to pick for us!. She returned with a bag with chocolate chip cookies, a cream cheese brownie and a raspberry crumble thingie. All of them were amazing! A couple things to note here: 1. This whole non ordeal was our fault for ordering breakfast at 11am! 2. Kindness matters, especially in today's environment. 3. Customer service matters. We didn't think it was a big deal that they ran out of a couple items. But the owner thought it was a big deal, and she did whatever was in her power to make it right. And she certainly did. Been patronizing this small gem for years. Nice place for coffee and a pastry or bagel. They also have a nice variety of breakfast items including eggs, bacon, etc. The only suggestion for management is: HAVE SALT AND PEPPER AVAILABLE FOR CUSTOMERS...it makes no sense that they removed all of the s&p shakers from the table, counter and elsewhere! I'm certain that removing the condiments is a HUGE SAVINGS for them but perhaps they could add just 2 cents to each cup of coffee in order to offer this customary and expected service for customers!!! read more

I don't understand what the issue is with this one location because their other locations run super smooth. But the people working here are something to behold. I've never seen so many people standing behind the counter doing absolutely nothing. Do you know how to keep a line moving? This place is literally a gem. My family and I recently spent a weekend in Asheville to somewhat escape the grueling heat and humidity of Atlanta and we sort of happened upon Fletcher Village Bakery. This place is not unknown, let that be known. We joined a socially distanced line that ended inside where masks were mandated. We were all good with that and felt thankful for the measure. Anyway, the bagels and croissants here are incredible. These may be some of the best I've ever eaten. I tried the Cheddar Black Pepper and Everything. Everything is, well, everything but the cheddar one was unexpectedly scrumptious. And the garden herb cream cheese. Damn, I wish I could've had a tub to pile atop my bagel, but alas, when you dine, you receive your bagel with spread on. The plain and almond croissants were phenomenal. I'm picky with an even more selective French husband. We travel pretty regularly to France and Western Europe and these pastries brought to mind those pastries. Get yourself something baked at this place, you won't be disappointed. And check out the half off table before leaving. Sometimes there is a huge selection of yesterday's baked goodies. If this place were closer to home, I'd be loading up every other week at least. Bread pudding, anyone? read more

A great place to get breakfast in the Fletcher area This restaurant is the 3rd restaurant to grow out of the Flat Rock Village Bakery which was founded in 2001 by Scott Unfried. This is considered the Fletcher Village Bakery location. Their website states that at this location, "... we have recently added space and seating and a full lunch menu. Both locations offer our amazing artisanal pastries, coffee and espresso, and a versatile breakfast and lunch menu." This location is about 3 miles north on Hendersonville road (25) from where it branches off Interstate 26. This restaurant is in a set of stores in an L-shaped building. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot dedicated to the stores. You enter from one side and place your order at the counter. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a display case with some of their foods. I ordered an Egg sandwich on a croissant and sat at one of the tables until my order was ready and my number was called. Seating consists of about 4 booths and 8 tables with chairs. There is a relaxed seating area. The floor is polished concrete and the tables and floor were kept clean. The prices were very reasonable (about $6 for the sandwich). The food was ready in about 10 minutes and it was very good. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience that I would recommend to my fellow travelers. Enjoy. read more

Traveling, always working remote in a coffee ship in the AM. This place ha d mostly good vibes but a couple things hurt the mojo a bit. First, one employee does not have the personality to work with public. abrupt. as she tells me hastily no tomato for my breakfast sandwich until they are back in season. I'm from Indiana, possibly the best tomatoes in the world. While certainly not as good, one can still get acceptable tomatoes in the winter. then they were out of coffee at the coffee bar. prob the biggest thing is they make everything, yet out of plain croissants at 10AM for breakfast sandwich, even though menu board says on croissant or bagel. coffee good, vibe in general nice. I'd go back but could be better. seems to lack congruency and has a small bit of chaotic feel. returned 4-17 out of everything and plain bagels for breakfast sandwiches at 10:40Am! they list croissants (which they were out of my first visit around 10AM) and bagels as choice for breakfast sandwiches...??? inventory control issues for sure. too bad. While this may not be one of the worst bakeries, it is certainly the weirdest. The bread is great. We have gotten sourdough three times- a standard loaf, a boule, and a baguette. The latter does not work well as a sourdough shape. It is unattractive, confusing to people who may think it is a true French bread, and the ends are pretty much burnt and can be used to plug holes. Everyone's mouth waters when coffee cake is presented. This classic pastry warms the hearts of all. Except when it has surprise bananas. Yes, you read that right. Bananas. The act of ruining a basic is bananas. The cupcakes are exquisite to the eyes. The froster adorns the precious cakes with purple flowers that almost defy consumption. And, lo, maybe said consumption should be defied. The chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing was partly good. The frosting was perfect, but the cake had little taste. My daughter stated that the star decorations were not good. They are too big. Cupcakes are always getting a treatment of some sort nowadays. The vanilla cake one was good, but the frosting had no taste whatsoever. If I was forced to state what flavor, I would say white icing that is made to adhere cake tiers. The blueberry one did not taste at all like blueberry. Not the frosting, nor even the surprise jelly-like filling! And I searched. Chewing became an art in those moments. No. Nothing. I tried. The worst part? That would be the SURPRISE WALNUTS under the chocolate frosting on top of the chocolate cupcake. It ruined the cupcake. I was not expecting those, and that has never happened to me before. If you have a nut allergy, you are toast. These bakeries need to consult vintage cookbooks for inspiration. We were looking for a quick bite to eat before getting to the airport and I was so glad to stumble upon this place on Yelp! My husband and I both got the bagel breakfast sandwiches with eeg, cheese, and sausage and they were absolutely delicious. The sandwich stayed together better than I expected (I typically avoid bagel sandwiches because they can be so messy) and it didn't start to fall apart until the end. The sandwiches were also very hearty - honestly I could have been fine with a half! We also got cookies for later: oatmeal raisin and peanut butter chocolate chip. Both were rich in flavor and had excellent textures (not too chewy, not too soft). We are definitely looking forward to revisiting and trying even more off of their menu. read more

I've always loved this bakery but today I purchased a grilled cheese with mustard to go and what a disappointment! There was hardly any cheese on the sandwich and NO mustard! I know I ordered with mustard because I was telling the person how much I loved the sandwich with the mustard. Giving two stars where I'd normally give 5 because maybe the person behind the counter was new? I have no idea but I was sooooooo disappointed.
