I was told (by a local) this place had the best donuts of Asheville so naturally I had to check it out for myself. Didn't disappoint!!! Donuts were stunning. They appeared fluffy, mouth watering and came in a wide variety! They even had a pumpkin donut (bonus points in my book since it was the middle of August). I came in on a weekday mid morning and they still had a large selection. I chose the cinnamon crunch donut and it was out of this world. It was light, airy, filling, and the cinnamon sprinkles on top gave it that nice little crunch. It was just the right amount of sweetness. They have made to order filled donuts! I loved that. Different fruit flavors, butter cream & Bavarian cream. Definitely on my list for next time. What is a donut without coffee?? They serve "bitchin coffee" here. Never heard of it but I did like it. They have a classic roast & donut shop roast. It would have been great if they served local coffee but beggars can't be choosers. Only 4 stars because of the service. While I did get served, it wasn't friendly nor attentive. I tried making casually conversation, I was genuinely curious as to what the hype was all about and the history! Just when you think they've thought of it all, they hit you with another flavor combination that is sure to knock your socks off. On the last day of our vacation my wife decided to indulge in her donut craving. We found this place open early afternoon and gave it a try. The donut selection was pretty decent and they did look tasty. However, the ladies in the store were pretty rude. Did not greet us when we walked in even though we were the only ones. Then when we walked up to order it was like she was bothered to take an order. The donuts were good enough but I would not come back just based on the crappy attitude of the 2 ladies there. I randomly saw their sign on my way to Biltmore village and thought I'd give it a go since I love donuts; and holy cow! They are have cake donuts, and then these other fluffy masterpieces. With each purchase you get a few don't holes thrown in. I purchased the cinnamon and sugar, cinnamon crumble, cookies and creme, apple fritter, chocolate twist, and a raspberry filled (they have plain donuts that you can choose multiple fillings for). My favorite by far was the plain cinnamon and sugar, but the fritter was baked perfectly. It had well distributed diced apple chunks and was crispy. 10/10 would recommend this place read more

Ava's Donuts is a small hole-in-the-wall shop right near the Biltmore Park mixed-use development. They have a large selection of donuts and several kinds that can be filled on demand with your choice of flavor. I tried a maple long john (unfilled), an apple fritter, and a half dozen donut holes. The good: they are well-fried, neither under nor overdone, and honestly the prices are just a steal for what you get The not-so-good: HOLY SWEETNESS BATMAN! All of the donuts I tried were overpoweringly sweet. The maple frosting on the long john had barely any maple flavor and just tasted like powdered sugar icing. The apple fritter had hardly any bits of apple in it and was just very sweet. The donut holes were also very sweet with a tad too much icing. All of the (yeasted) donuts I got were also VERY soft with very little chew, almost more similar to a cake donut than a yeasted one I think my experience at Ava's might be a sign for me to self-reflect a bit, in that donuts might just not be my thing any more...which is why I rated this place four stars. If you want a large, decent donut that they're practically giving away, check Ava's out; just make sure you bring your sweet tooth. read more

Apple fritter - you can taste the apple in this more it's more cinnamon than not; sugar glaze too sweet as well 6. Red velvet - pretty nondescript, you just taste the sugar glaze Overall these doughnuts are fine and they hold up well until the next day (especially the blueberry one), but the cake ones are quite crumbly. The glaze is overpowering, which is a shame when you're trying to get different flavors but all you can taste is sugar. It's ok if you just want a doughnut, but I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to hit this place up. Service was not particularly friendly either. read more

Today, I went in and I wanted a dozen donuts. I had only asked if they could he boxed in two boxes of six and six. A dozen glazed donuts is 12.99. I got one fruity pebble donut. A dozen of those would have only been 13.99. So, I got 11 glazed and 1 fruity pebble. Had I gotten a dozen speciality is would have been $18.99. But I got 11 glazed and 1 fruity pebble in two boxes of 6. I was charged 21.38. $8 more bc I asked for them to be packed in two boxes instead of 1. Had she disclosed to me, that she was going to charge me for 2 half dozen @ 9.99 each, I would have said, just put them in 1 box and I'll figure it out. According to the price posted in store and provided below shows: 1/2 dozen glazed is 7.99, if they were all fruity pebble is would have been 8.99. That's $17 total. Then she had the audacity to point to the payment screen for me to add a tip. I hope the personal decision to rob me of $8 for that box, was worth it. I will NEVER return for any future business. So, beware- check prices and ask questions. read more

This is the second time that I have visited the shop. Both times I left feeling like I didn't want to ever go back. I gave them a second chance, and now I know that I won't go again! They're rude, don't make you feel appreciated, and laughed at me when I asked for a box for my donut holes. I often like to bring donuts to my clients and a bag just doesn't seem as presentable they also gave me a hard time to get a receipt which I need for my business, and always on their phones!
