    Confetti and cinnamon sugar
    Bekke S.

Took my nephew here on an "Auntie spoiling day" and could not have made a better choice! Big, clean facility. They make the doughnuts to order, so when you get them they're WARM (eat your heart out, Dunkin') and the selection! Wow! Delicious options-- nephew got a confetti doughnut, I got a s'mores doughnut, and we got my sister a plain cinnamon sugar. The picture will have the confetti and cinnamon sugar, as I ate mine too fast to get a pic of! So yeah- VERY tasty. Also the service was fantastic :) Very, very nice staff. If I lived in the area I'd say catch me over there often, trying all the tasty concoctions! Thanks for making our treat day delicious, Duck Donuts!!

We learned of Duck in Charlotte while at The Salty. Duck serves cake donuts deep fried in soybean oil and then added icing/toppings. Fast service and friendly staff. Donuts were warm but a bit messy to eat since the icing dripped everywhere. All donuts are the same price and it doesn't matter what topping or icing. Think this is a regional store and we have only seen them in NC.

I'd never heard of Duck Donuts before visiting Charlotte, NC, and I'm glad I tried them. All of their donuts begin as a vanilla cake donut, then different icings and toppings are added based on the menu option selected. I ordered 4 donuts which were Twix with chocolate, Twix with caramel, smores, and blueberry pancake. So for the Twix chocolate, they will dip the donut in chocolate icing then top with Twix pieces. I enjoyed the donuts and they have over 20 different combinations on offer. Something to note. If you sign up for their text alerts, you will receive a buy one get one free reward. I tried using this reward at this location, but the staff member first said not every location has this promotion. I then showed her my phone where it shows the reward for this location where she then replied she doesn't have a button on the register to accept this reward so I wasn't able to use it and paid full price. I didn't catch this staff member's name, but she wasn't the most friendly. However, as I went down to pick up my donuts, Mariah, the other staff member who was super friendly, asked if my donuts looked ok. I told her about not being able to use the reward where she shared they don't have a scanner to scan customer's QR code with the reward and she has notified the district manager about this. She then offered to make us 2 free donuts since they don't have a scanner. What great consideration and customer service. Thank you Mariah and I will definitely return for more delicious donuts!

These donuts are to die for!!! They are made right in front of you. So they are delicious & hot.

They have breakfast sandwiches on donuts, which were good. But the variety of donut flavors/toppings was the best part, although it was very hard to choose. The donuts were all hot and fresh, total game changer. Would highly recommend grabbing a coffee here and satisfying that sweet tooth of yours!

This is a brilliant concept. Churn out one base donut and then have a ton (ok maybe 20-30) options for toppings. I don't think I've ever had fresh, hot donuts but this was a game changer. Like seriously. These little ringed beauties were so freakin delicious. My friend and I had the combo with a coffee and 2 donuts. My waistline was happy with 2 but I could have mentally had maybe 4-5 more. Sooooo good The maple bacon was sweet and salty and savory and the s'mores donut was perfect warm. I do wish the donut itself had a little bit more density to it - they gave a little too quickly, so eat these over a napkin or a box. Spacious interior but only 2-3 tables to stand and nibble. You can watch your donuts being made on the donut robot - pretty neat. Great service, friendly staff, great recommendations. So many donuts so little time. Great stop.

Although I've heard of Duck Donuts, I wasn't aware that this was a chain. To our surprise, they make each donut fresh; you can see them put the dough in the oil, as well as glaze and decorate each order. Although I wouldn't consider these fancy, artisanal donuts, their warm, fresh donuts are delicious. I ordered their coffee and two donut combo; they didn't charge me for upgrading to an iced coffee. The combo came with a large coffee and your choice of two donuts -- I chose the Bacon in the Sun and the Beach. My order came out to under $5. As for the service, the workers were very patient with my party; there was five of us looking through the donut selection because we were new customers. The wait was very short, and the workers gladly helped us when we needed more cream, sugar, etc.

Peach seasonal donut with vanilla icing and caramel drizzle

Awesome experience!! WARM, FRESH donuts. Unique flavors that are seasonal. The peach is amazing!! Brett, the owner, was super attentive and truly cares about the customer experience. Could not recommend this place more! Stop in and get a sweat treat, breakfast sandwich, or coffee! I may or may not have got all 3.

Never have I ever had a donut made to order just for moi, until I found this place! O M G!!! Every doughnut is made fresh to order starting with a fried vanilla doughnut as the base, which can be enjoyed in all it's pure deliciousness or upgraded with toppings like cinnamon sugar, chocolate frosting, sprinkles, maple and bacon. If you can think of it, they probably have it. I ordered 3 doughnuts, Blueberry, chocolate frosting and cinnamon sugar. Hot dang, first bite love. Second bite I thought, why did I only order 3? Anyway this place is a must try. Located in a shopping complex, parking is ample. Doughnuts are $2.67 if I remember correctly, worth every $. You have to try this place!

Solid choice if you're looking for a standard cake donut with lots of different flavor options. We opted for the Cinnamon Bun and it was good. They start with a base and then add toppings based on your choice, so service was decently fast. I'd say customer service was average. Also got a cappuccino which was decent, they do have an espresso machine.

On the day, we were leaving town we wanted to get a box of goodies for our sweet family members who had taken care of one of our pups so that we could get away for the weekend. The team was so marvelous in helping us put together this bountiful box of goodies. Which our family members immediately opened and enjoyed nibbles of all of the different flavors and items. We originally found them when one of our family members was having health challenges and could not have dairy or gluten. They have such a wonderfully inclusive assortment of treats for everyone in the family. Including vegan. Enjoyed people watching sitting on the patio and the dog scene is awesome. Really lovely chill atmosphere with delightful team. They do have restrooms for customers. You're able to tap and pay in addition to cash and traditional credit card purchase. Always a delight to visit.

Wood Grilled Asparagus: perfection! Absolutely LOVED the sauce gribiche! Braised Rabbit and Nettle Cavatelli: I thought this dish was stunning. The texture of the cavatelli could not be better and the flavors melded well together. Lardon added savoriness while the pickled ramps balanced the palate. Soft Herb & Pea Risotto: loved this in terms of texture but needed a touch of salt. We added a pinch of their house special salt (mined from a 100 year old salt mine), and it did the trick! Wild Mushroom Tagliatelle: this was my favorite item, though also, requiring a pinch of salt. I really appreciated that the truffle oil did not overpower the dish (that's a pet peeve of mine). It feels intentionally put together without being fussy, the kind of place where you can savor a slow morning or catch up with friends and still hear each other talk. Coffee and vanilla lattes The vanilla lattes were beautifully balanced: smooth espresso, creamy milk, and a vanilla note that tasted more like a crafted flavor than a syrupy afterthought. They were the kind of drink you notice sip by sip--no bitterness, no burn, just a clean, rounded cup that shows how serious Rowan is about its coffee program. Pastries: apple brie galette The apple brie galette was a standout, layering gentle sweetness from the apples with the subtle richness of brie in a flaky, buttery crust that felt more like a bakery feature than a "typical" coffee shop pastry. It paired perfectly with the latte, giving that sweet-savory bite that makes you slow down and actually enjoy breakfast instead of just grabbing something on the go. Pastries: apricot pistachio galette The apricot pistachio galette was equally memorable, with bright, tangy apricot lifted by the nutty crunch of pistachios, again in a delicate, well-baked crust. Together, the flavors were sophisticated without being pretentious--approachable, interesting, and exactly what you hope to find in a city known for its food and drink. One thing that stood out to me right away: the barista pulling espresso shots while weighing each pull from start to finish. That level of precision is exactly the kind of detail that makes a coffee nerd like me smile. It shows they care about consistency and dialing things in, not just pushing drinks across the bar. The shop itself has a really cool aesthetic -- minimalist but warm -- with a quiet corner vibe that makes it a great place to slow down and actually enjoy what you're drinking. I started with a cortado, which was beautifully balanced. The espresso came through clearly while the milk softened it just enough -- smooth, rich, and exactly what a cortado should be. Then I tried both of their seasonal drinks. Roses Are Falling (no mocha) was delicate and aromatic, with floral notes that felt intentional rather than perfumey. It was subtle, interesting, and really well composed. I also had the Hello Ruby, which brought a brighter flavor profile and rounded out the experience nicely. Both drinks showed a lot of creativity without losing the coffee itself. Between the precision behind the bar, the thoughtful drink menu, and the calm, stylish space, Rowan is a standout coffee stop in Asheville. Definitely a place for people who appreciate the craft behind the cup.

This review is combined from my first visit in September 2024 and my most recent in early April 2026. My wife got the pancake both times. I got the croque madame the first time, and the breakfast sandwich (sausage, egg and cheddar on an English muffin) the second time. The croque madame was phenomenal. The breakfast sandwich was good, but not my favorite. I'm not a huge fan of cheddar--especially sharp cheddar--on a breakfast sandwich, and the tomato aioli, caramelized onions, and the actual sausage patty, were a little too sweet for my liking. I could see others liking it, though, so definitely worth a try. I'll definitely be back to work my way through the menu a bit more. My cousin swears by the avocado toast, so that might be next!
