Josh is the best server we have ever encountered. Truly. And that's not even discussing the food. Ok where to begin? The best falafel (a daily Benedict special) and that's saying something given I've eaten falafels in Israel, Turkey and NYC. The bed of arugula and hollondaise sauce was chef's kiss. Then there's the side dish of the feta potato salad. OMG! The server called the chef "young, hungry, and polished..." and truly I agree. My honey is a meat and potatoe dude and the burger he had was sumptuous. A hint of horseradish (he thinks) with the smoky bacon and perfect seasoned fries. In summary... total gastronomic taste gasm. Adorable, hip, friendly, and tasty. Corner Kitchen is oozing with local charm and flair. Located inside of an old house, you'll feel comfortable dining in the front room, atrium, upstairs or the covered patio. I feel like this is kind of a place to be seen. The menu is Southern creative. We started with the biscuits and gravy appetizer which might have been a mistake because I was almost too full for my entree after sampling it. The signature gravy was heavenly! We scooped it up with our forks when we ran out of biscuit. The coffee is excellent and we all enjoyed the fresh squeezed juice. (Those are important touches for breakfast.) the service is super friendly. Maybe could use a more extensive child's menu. My older son eats like a little adult but my younger kid is a typical "kid" eater. Although he loved his waffles and the picture provided for coloring. Our first meal in Asheville, which was very conveniently located just minutes away from the Grand Bohemian. Biltmore Village is pretty sleepy so didn't see many other options to eat besides this, but it was pretty good. We had a 7:30pm Sunday reservation and asked if we could sit on the patio since it was a gorgeous night. We had to wait about 5-10 min for a patio table, but no biggie. The service was great and our waiter was very attentive. And the food came out pretty fast as well. After ordering some wine we started with a cup of gazpacho. My husband really liked it, but i found it a little spicy. However, I really enjoyed the rest of our meal which was a meat and cheese app and pecan crusted trout. My husband and I split both and cleaned our plates. While dessert was tempting we had eaten a lot of candy on our drive to Asheville so decided to skip it. Overall, it was a nice first casual meal and we didn't even have to get dressed up which was nice after a long car ride. It looks like they have a great brunch too so we may be back this week to check it out! read more

I am so proud of my partner for picking this place because I love eating hearty for breakfast! The Steak Benedict was delicious, I recommend it because the flavor of the steak was noticeable even through the sauce and the portion is quite generous and just overall excellent! My partner ordered homemade corned beef and it was massive!! We ordered cocktails of Bloody Mary that was well garnished & ordered their seasonal special of beet cocktail and just one glass was enough, it had such a refreshing taste! I was staying at a hotel in the Biltmore Village near The Corner Kitchen, and the reviews caught my eye. I am so glad we decided to go there for dinner. It was elevated Southern cuisine, and we enjoyed it enough that we may go back before leaving the area. The restaurant has a comfortable feel -- upscale, but not stuffy. The service was excellent. The servers were personable and attentive without hovering. At one point, I accidentally dropped my napkin, and our server immediately brought me another one. Our water glasses were continually refilled, and our server checked in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. My partner and I liked so many things on the menu that we knew ordering soup, salad, an appetizer, and entrées would be too much. We told our server we were sharing, and for most of the courses, they divided the portions and brought them out on separate plates. That was another small touch that showed they were paying attention to detail. There wasn't anything we had that we wouldn't order again. We started with the seasonal soup, which was a tomato bisque, followed by the strawberry and feta salad. The country ham board was excellent and actually had me looking for Lusty Monk mustard the next day. For our main entrée, we shared the shrimp and grits, which was also delicious. This is a great neighborhood restaurant with solid brunch options. Their dinner menu also looked promising. We ended up loving this spot so much that we visited it twice during our stay. It's conveniently located just down the street from Biltmore, with easy parking compared to downtown Asheville. Ben, our server on the first visit, was incredibly welcoming and friendly, setting the tone for a great experience. I initially made a reservation, but after visiting twice, I don't think it's necessary for a weekday lunch. I ordered the house-made corned beef hash--great portion size and overall solid flavor. The dishes are delicious. There is a focus on working with local vendors. The atmosphere is cozy and warm. There are 2 levels of dining space and a cute outdoor area. Make sure to visit the restroom where some snarky signs are sure to make you smile! When Hurricane Helene hit, Biltmore Village (where Corner Kitchen resides) was heavily business. Sadly, there are several businesses who haven't reopened and many who never will. Being an lifelong Asheville resident, seeing the damage brought by the storm and flooding has been heartbreaking. Corner Kitchen is in Biltmore Village that was devastated by Helene, but you wouldn't know it. This elite restaurant is in an original house from the Vanderbilt purchase. They deliver like a well oiled machine. Staff was super friendly, knowledgeable of it's history and just fun to be around. It's a limited menu and changes frequently so look online at their website to see what's new. We had the shrimp and grits with a red eye gravy and the pork shank osso bucco. It was served over a creamy polenta and the pork was pull apart tender. We normally don't eat at fancy places but this experience was well worth it. Everything was fantastic. Do make a reservation to ensure you can get in. They were completely full and held to reservation time. Next time in Asheville area we'll definitely be back! read more

I was so delighted to learn one of my favorite spots in Asheville had re-opened and it did not disappoint. Love the redesign of the host stand and bar addition. So clean, roomy and aesthetically pleasing. My daughter and I had the turkey croissant with shaved pear and the lavender marinated chicken salad. Truly amazing and so tasty. The toast was actually kind of soft but the jam gave it flavor. The hash had great flavors, but the poaching of the eggs was inconsistent. I really went back-and-forth between a three and a four but ultimately landed on a four star rating for the corner kitchen. Overall, the place is great... Really cool vibe and layout, super friendly staff, and well composed dishes. Our server was fantastic and did a great job taking care of us all night. We tried several appetizers and all of them were tasty, especially the fried oysters, which I highly recommend. The star of the meal for me was the crab and corn chowder. It was excellent! The reason I got hung up on the rating was due to a couple of things. One person in our group ordered the chicken and it came out tepid. It was cooked thoroughly and very flavorful, but I guess it just got cold waiting for the rest of the dishes to be ready. The other thing was the trout. We were told this was their signature dish and several people in our party ordered it I will say the composition was well thought out, and the green beans cooked perfectly for me, but the trout was simply overcooked. It is such a delicate fish so when you crust it and you cook it or leave it under a warming lamp too long, the fish can get dry, and mine was clearly overcooked. I was also not a huge fan of the crusting on the fish. It did not add a textural element as intended, and really just got muddy with the mushy texture of the overcooked fish. The sweet potatoes were also not my favorite. I am not sure of the flavor, but there was something floral in the sweet potato mash. That was just a bit offputting for me a couple of my companions shared similar thoughts on the fish. For this to have been their signature dish, I had higher expectations, which is why I was leaning heavily towards a three. However, everything else was really great and obviously they have a consistent track record of great food given their other ratings here on yelp. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place, but I would likely not order the trout again if I have a chance to come back. read more

Old classic music loud enough to enjoy but low enough to still hear yourself think and talk with the ones you are eating with. Zack was an excellent server and checked on us often enough. I ordered a cranberry mimosa, which was bigger than I expected for the price, and was happy about it. Then we shared a pastry of the day which was peach with a lemon glaze on top. The layers were good on the pastry and reminded us of peach cobbler with the filling. Ordered Biltmore Basic. The grits were a little too cheesy for me and bacon had a lot of fat on it. Both were still edible though. Liked the eggs and biscuit with mixed berry jam. My fiancé ordered the mango Bellini. They had to substitute the mango puree for triple sec because there was no more puree but overall still tasted good. He ordered the chicken and waffles. Chicken could use a tiny bit more seasoning but paired with the gravy it was really good so makes sense why the chicken wasn't super flavorful - had to balance everything out. We were visiting Asheville and came across this gem! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with smiles and friendliness. We came at a busy time with a party of 13 and we got our tables in about 30 minutes. I was very impressed. Every staff member we encounter was amazing! We had brunch here for my birthday with my fiance and in-laws. MIL and I had the huevos rancheros and Biltmore basic with mimosas and loved every bite, especially the potatoes!!!! My fiance and his dad had the corned beef hash and biscuits & gravy and said they were good. They absolutely loved the stuffed tater tots though! The atmosphere and decor were so fun and the service was absolutely superb. We loved the cozy feeling of being in a historic home. Our first time back since the hurricane hit. So glad that this wonderful establishment has reopened. The ambiance is quaint, cozy, and comfortable. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Service was excellent all evening long (shout out to our lovely server, Jonathan, who was knowledgeable, responsive, and helpful). For food we decided to go the small plates sharing route. Nice surprise of a delightful amuse-bouche. Of course we started with the soup which was solid (admittedly it did not knock our socks off like the first time we were here and it was simply corn chowder). Surprisingly, we enjoyed the rest of what we ordered more. Brussels sprouts, ordered extra crispy absolutely delicious. Crab cake super yummy and amply sized. The Mushroom Wellington was unique, savory with a hint of sweetness. The scallops were divine as were the oysters. We were full and didn't have room for dessert this time around. Stumbled upon Corner Kitchen while in Asheville for one night while stopping on our way to Nashville. What a delightful dining experience we had! Arrived for our reservation a little early, and we waited on the covered porch while enjoying some drinks. Once seated & after ordering, we were provided with a complimentary amuse bouche (one bite starter), which was a potato chip with chipotle sauce, pico de gallo & queso fresco. A delicious one bite which prepped us for our meal. We ordered the Cacio e Pepe & fried green tomatoes for apps, both were OUTSTANDING! Our entrees were the trout & chicken, again, just absolutely delicious bites. Probably one of the best meals I've enjoyed in my life. Would 100% recommend to anyone visiting Asheville to eat here. The staff was warm, friendly & courteous! Only one small complaint, the food came out slow, which the staff did regularly communicate about and apologize for.
